Ok so like DQ 1&2 2D-HD Remaster i guess I'm not buying them. I'm fine buying Switch 1 copy if it was getting an upgrade path so I can have Switch 2 and physical, but this decision AGAIN by square enix shows how put of touch and greedy they are. Yet it was announced DQ 3 2D-HD Remaster is getting a Switch 2 upgrade, so why not this and the 1&2 Remaster? Even FFT is getting an upgrade path ffs.
What a bunch of morons at SE!
Don't want Switch 2 physical? Fine, but gice Switch 1 an upgrade path ffs! Their loss then, not mine since I have a backlog and even more future games willing to accept my money and time. SE is now put alongside the likes of EA and Ubisoft as never supporting ever again.
Guess my Switch 2 is exclusively for Nintendo first party games and any third party who (like CDPR) actually gives physical collectors a proper physical release. Oh and SE, don't think I'll buy your games on Steam instead, I just won't be buying your games at all ever again on any platform just like EA and Ubisoft.
Goodbye SE! Until you learn the error of your ways, I'm no longer a customer. If you choose to change this ridiculous path you're on then I'll reconsider.
@Kneppy18 no because you have full game size taking up the little storage space we have which is a downside all the while still having to pop a game car din the system. It's an absolutely garbage system and Nintendo should never have introduced these game key cards.
No real physical release then you don't get my money! Plenty of other games or things I can spend it on then. I refuse to support game key cards and any publisher using these I won't even buy the shop version, I'll (out of spite) ignore these games altogether. That and the game key card version for Switch 2 costs more? What a fkn joke!
@libersolis that's why I hate game key cards. I still need to insert a physical piece of useless plastic in my system while still using full storage space the game requires. It's a fkn abomination!
So Switch 2 version has no real physical version, just digital and the ridiculous game key cards, and now they say Switch 1 won't have an upgrade path? Ok then good job Square, you lost a sale and a general customer because I was going to buy Switch 1 physical copy of the game but now I'll just hard pass altogether.
I will NOT buy game key cards, only real physical games. So to take away any sort of upgrade path for the Switch 1 copy is just wrong. So now you're like Sega when it comes to Switch 2 how they did this same garbage, and possibly Capcom but I have to see where they choose to go. Meaning I'll never support and buy your games again.
Their is absolutely NO reason an upgrade path can't be made possible so stop being greedy fks! I have a backlog and their are plenty of other games coming out so I don't need your games if this is your behaviour and how you treat gamers who want physical games.
@Teksette Ya I won't lie, it is much more addictive than I expected. It's a fun little game so far. A welcome change of pace I needed from my usual Star Citizen, ESO, Helldivers 2 and then MKW and Cyberpunk on Switch 2. Those have been my recents, but this game though I load up daily since it arrived.
Of course after I imported the Switch 1 now they announce Switch 2 physical lol. Oh well thankfully the Switch 2 upgrade was only a few bucks and does the same thing so it's just minus the red cart, but glad to hear they're actually making a physical copy for Switch 2 and not using those game key card garbage.
@DetJayT I get they have the right to ban and even brick, but to me the bricking part is too far by making it completely unusable. That hardware now belongs to the user and they should still have access to use it even if just offline with physical media, or if they choose homebrew it's their hardware. It's a slippery slope and both sides I understand, and I hate cheaters and dont condone piracy but the hardware shouldn't be completely bricked if they have that ability to render it inoperable. So banning sure no problem, truly bricking it is a slippery slope.
@jsty3105 oh, I read another article a couple days ago or late last week that some had fully been bricked. Maybe they used the wrong word or I misread but pretty sure it said "bricked". I'll try to find that article later and re-read it.
That said, it is in the TOS that they can brick consoles, and that shouldn't be the case.
@DetJayT oh I know others have done this and it's usually blocking online access but not a full bricking of the system. Modding it shouldn't get bricked and totally unusable because if someone paid for it, it's theirs. If they mod to cheat then block online access, but should still be usable offline since it's not a leased or rented item, it's owned and now the buyers personal property.
I don't mod or cheat, etc so it would never affect me, but I don't agree with bricking systems.
I'm glad to see this being challenged. It would never affect me anyway, but it's still absurd. Unless they give the consoles away for free they should not have this ability to brick consoles.
No proper physical release is a no-buy. These key-cards are BS and I won't support them, and out of spite I won't buy the same title(s) digital either. Real physical or no buy for me.
Ya Sega can go fk themselves. They truly did shaft their customer base with this half-a**ed port. Their is no reason other than pure greed not to have an upgrade option.
Sega has increasingly been calling to ea and Unisys levels of bs and after this, and the only supporting game key cards it looks like I'm never buying another Sega game.
I don't support game key cards, so any company using only those won't get my business and I'll ignore those games ever on the shop. Not having an upgrade for the Switch 1 is low and their greed hopefully will be their downfall.
The price is absurd! I'll go with the Skull & Co / Savage Raven or a JSAUX case for half the price (or less) and works just as good if not better. Genki are high thinking this case is worth the asking price when at this price point I can get much better options.
LOL these publishers are idiots the because I for one refuse to support these game key cards and any publisher that uses them. If a publisher uses these and does not offer a true physical copy of the game then out of spite I won't buy your game on the key card or shop period! So ya keep thanking Nintendo lol, you're losing my business and I'm sure many others feel the same because I mostly see backlash and dissatisfaction towards these key cards.
This game ran worse than Ark? Because Ark was absolutely beyond terrible and unacceptable that the retailer understood and gave me a refund the day after it came out lol, that game was an utter piece of dog s***!
@KociolekDoSyta Oh I remember all of that "fun stuff" lol, and ya it's helped us to be prepared for current days, but ya unfinished games drive me nuts. Companies shouldn't be allowed to get away with that, and because of that I no longer pre-order games except for the odd ones like TotK and stuff like that.
As for ZX Spectrum you mentioned to @dskatter, I never had that one though lol. Intellivision, Atari 2600, C64, Amiga, etc but not ZX or the VIC-20 that dskatter mentioned. I knew of them, didn't actually have them though.
@Anti-Matter ah fair enough, gotta give ps5 some cozy game love too lol, and if it was a bit cheaper then even better cuz we gotta save anywhere we can these days. I checked conversion rates and seems your price if it was Canadian looks to be about $10 cad more than we pay and in Canadian our conversion is somewhat bad so that sucks, definitely buy the cheapest you can find then!
@Anti-Matter I recall reading the Switch version will get an upgrade for a small cost to Switch 2 so if you want physical you should be ok getting the Switch version, play for now then play on Switch 3 upgraded and you'll have the game itself on cartridge. Otherwise ya I wouldn't be confident a Switch 2 physical will have the game on the cart. I refuse to support those game key cards.
Seriously, nit every game needs free fall from insane heights with no damage. Sure I agree geralt falling a few meters and taking massive damage is a bit much, but he also shouldn't be able to fall 500 meters and survive without a scratch.
Every game is different, this adds immersiveness to some games and a challenge.
ROFL that "Will it run edition" price is a joke right? Who the fk would pay that? It looks cool but no more than $150 tops cool, cuz running on the box is nothing special and not worth the extra cost lol. LRG is on crack.
Absurd game prices, and a nickel and dime on top of those prices for those who want physical copies that aren't truly physical and now this ridiculous paid app? Nintendo has gone off the deep end and is literally FUBAR!
I've owned every Nintendo system from the start with the NES, but the Switch 2 will be the first Nintendo console I refuse to own. I hope this ruins Nintendo and the Switch 2 becomes a complete flop and utter failure of epic proportions. What a joke!
Just pre-ordered. LRG lost my business, the normal edition was limited and sold out apparently within minutes, and no way was I paying $150 for the C.E. so now I'll get this Deluxe and it's still a much better deal. LRG has been going down the drain these last few years.
Seeing how Aspyr has released other games on Amazon after LRG I was hoping for this, so this just made my day.
Hopefully they can beat the scalpers. Scalpers are the scourge of our society and it just needs to be made illegal to scalp.
That aside, I hope everyone who wants one at launch gets one. Sadly this will be the first Nintendo console since I won't get day 1. Had all day 1 from SNES to Switch, but I'll skip this because no OLED screen. I'm done letting Nintendo nickel and dime me by double dipping.
OLED should be standard, so unless the LCD screen is actually a good one (unlikely knowing Nintendo and the Switch's LCD screen) i won't buy until an OLED model is available.
To those wanting this day 1, I wish you best of luck and hopefully Nintendo and retailers can find a way to stop scalpers.
@Expa0 Fair points, and the first paragraph ya you're right I forgot about the whole needing our permission to leave part, which was weird.
I liked the terraforming and customization aspects enough, but too each their own.
Dialogue I can agree needs to be better too. I just didn't bother talking to villagers too often and went about my own business with everything else lol.
I see it's more when you say "dropped the ball" is more your personal opinion, which is fine as everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I guess I just misunderstood the original statement. I get you now.
@Expa0 dropped the ball how? The game did amazingly well, and from someone whose played every AC game it was by far the best one and the regular updates and expansion were all good. So please exain how they apparently "dropped the ball"?
That aside and back to the article, this is one instance where I hope Nintendo sues these Devs kif we can call them that since it does appear very much ai generated) because this is an absolute blatant rip off/plagiarismof Animal Crossing.
@Reztobi I 100% agree and it's why I buy physical for any and all games that have physical releases, at least on consoles. Wish pc still had physical options ffs, but this delisting is getting ridiculous and we need to stop supporting these digital games they say we never own ye today full price for. I hate where this industry went.
"mario and Luigi future in doubt", are you guys dumb? The future isn't in doubt, it would shift to a new developer or maybe even in-house, but it wouldn't be the end of the Mario and Luigi titles just because of this, they're not the first developer anyway with that franchise so please stop with these BS click-bait titles!
I'm starting to lose respect for Nintendo Life because this is becoming even worse of a trend and its annoying AF!
As for Sony, I hope they don't get control of any of those developers, they'll ruin the future games. I'll never buy another Sony console as it is, but I still buy their games that make it to pc. If this happens, I'll never buy anything that has Sony's grubby hands in it.
Well, glad I never bought this and guess I never will. At this point I just likely won't support Konami period if this is the kind of support, or lack of that can be expected.
@Dpishere seeing this and that you mentioned having a physical copy (somehow I never saw that a physical existed), I went and found (and bought) it now because I'm sure the price will spike on any remaining physical copies lol.
@NintendoWife yes and no but we've seen other games perform well so I don't see why this can't as well. BotW, TotK, heck even The Witcher 3 for its massive size performed better and those are a few examples with much larger open worlds. Sure graphics are different between them all but this (like LA) felt a bit lazy on the optimization side and just how the Pokemon games went they banked on the IP and got lazy.
This industry as a whole has hit that point Devs are forced to release early and can't optimize properly anymore. It needs to change, but throwing our money at them supporting this won't help. This will be the first Legend of Zelda game I pass on (unless the fix it), and I've been playing since NES days. Too each their own, but I won't support it this. They need try lowering expectations on graphics or effects, etc so that they can stabilize performance. I don't need the top highest end graphics, that's what my pc is for, but my Switch is for fun games and Nintendo's games, I can handle the game being set more reasonably within the consoles limitations.
While I think $500 would be steep, if it came with 2TB storage at minimum and an OLED screen I'd pay it, otherwise no. Heck even at $400 if no oled screen and at least 1TB storage I likely wouldn't buy it and will wait for an OLED model.
I'm happy still with my OLED Switch and OLED Steam Deck. I love Nintendo but 1tb and oled at launch are minimum to get me onboard without waiting a few years for an updated model since we know Nintendo is notorious for making several model revisions over a consoles lifespan.
Backwards compatability would sweeten the deal too lol.
Come on Bandai Dumbco, release physical in North America! No physical here = no buy because I guess the Maverick dlc isn't included on the EU cart but if I recall, even though not region locked if I import EU copy I won't be able to get the Maverick DLC without a European Nintendo account.
I'm so sick of North America getting the shaft when it comes to so many physical games.
ROFL seriously Nintendo?!? Releasing this 7. 5 years after the Switch came out, and in Japan only? This would have been smart years ago, not at the END of the Switch's life cycle.
I love Nintendo, I really so, but they tend to do a lot of stupid things that make no sense.
I had this on pc since release but I love supporting this kind of work with such ports to the Switch and just may have to double dip and get this and replay it.
This price is absurd and should be priced at $40 just like Metroid Prime Remaster was. Nintendo can go eff themselves. I wont pay these prices for remake/remasters.

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom's Frame Rate Is "Even Worse" Than Link's Awakening
As much as I want this game, this was what I was waiting for to see if it was like LA or improved, but being worse is a hard pass for me.
Their is no reason for this poor performance so I'm not supporting this lazy incompetent garbage.
Re: Upcoming Emulation Handheld Rocks A Stunning Optional GameCube Theme
Love the GC themed one, but I have a Steam Deck OLED that emulates what I need just fine, so for me it's cool but not a purchase I can justify.
Re: Talking Point: Would $499 Be Too Much For 'Switch 2'?
Re: Review: Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition (Switch) - Returns For Another Pass With A Top-Flight Port
@Shiryu Just sounds like it's just more trouble than it's worth imo. Thanks for the link though.
Re: Review: Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Deluxe Edition (Switch) - Returns For Another Pass With A Top-Flight Port
Re: Nintendo Announces Official Switch Joy-Con Charging Stand
ROFL seriously Nintendo?!? Releasing this 7. 5 years after the Switch came out, and in Japan only? This would have been smart years ago, not at the END of the Switch's life cycle.
I love Nintendo, I really so, but they tend to do a lot of stupid things that make no sense.
Re: Feature: Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown Lands On Switch Today In A Port Two Years In The Making
I had this on pc since release but I love supporting this kind of work with such ports to the Switch and just may have to double dip and get this and replay it.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Costs $60 On Switch
This price is absurd and should be priced at $40 just like Metroid Prime Remaster was. Nintendo can go eff themselves. I wont pay these prices for remake/remasters.
Re: N64 Shooter Turok 3 Is Getting A Physical Release On Switch, Pre-Orders Now Live
I have 1 and 2 physical copies (just regular though) so I'll be grabbing this (regular as well) just to complete the physical collection.
