As fun as this game looks and sounds, that price ($100 CAD) is way too high for this game and especially so when Nintendo broke their promised first-party but I know this is technically second-party but still, it's a Nintendo IP and putting this onto a Game Key Card is unacceptable! I refuse to ever support GKC's. If it was full on cart then I could maybe accept this price.
Nintendo has always been a bit greedy/stingy but they've gone overboard lately. This price and not even game on cart, then look at Pokemon Fire Red and Lea Green at $20 USD/$30 CAD for a game with almost no work done to put it onto the Switch/2 and charging that price is absurd.
Really getting more and more disappointed with Nintendo. I stopped Xbox after the 360, stopped Playstation after PS4. So is the Switch 2 the end of Nintendo for me? At the rate Nintendo is going, that's very likely and will be a PC only gamer come next console generation.
Every Switch 2 game coming on GKC I refuse to buy, even digitally and instead I'll buy the Switch 1 physical if it has one. If not then it's a game I'll never purchase, so for this I guess I'm buying the Switch 1 version.
Well it doesn't matter because for one, it's overpriced imo for the type of game, but I'd have checked reviews and possibly reconsidered if not for the second and more important reason. I refuse to support game key card releases! Nintendo lied and I have not and will not ever buy a GKC for any game and I won't buy the game(s) that release on GKC's even digitally, out of spite.
Ill buy digital games from indie studios who don't do physical releases, but AAA companies putting out GKC's will lose my business. If I'm forced into digital I'll buy on Steam, but even now I may question who I support there as well. I have plenty of games in my backlog and always more coming out so this just helps me keep my wallet happy lol.
Switch 2 and Steam Deck here and if no true physical I have no desire to buy it on Switch 2.i like my Switch and Switch 2 games for being physical, but if no physical I'll either buy on Steam if I am forced to only buy digitally but in some cases I'm happy to boycott those games anyway since I have a backlog to get through as well lol.
Guess I'll get Indiana Jones, but the rest are a hard pass. No physical = no buy. I'm getting sick of these third party companies cheating out. My wallet is happier and means I'll have more time to get to my massive backlog anyway so win/win for me.
I won't buy the game key cards, I hate them, but code in a box?!? Really? That's even worse.
They look terrible lol. Probably gonna be overpriced as are most amiibo's lately.
Glad Capcom chose not to use real physical carts as an option because it means I'm not buying the game, which means I have no need for these so no urge to want to buy them lol.
Third party companies passing on physical copies have made my wallet happy lol.
Price seems too steep for what this is. $10 would be definite buy, $15 I could deal, but $20 seems a bit much and I'll likely pass since I finished the game and the MP doesn't sound all that intriguing.
Nintendo's pricing strategies are getting out of control.
@jsty3105 Maybe, but we've seen large games before that ended up fitting on a cart, but it's just that they don't want too. None of their releases are getting physical, even ones that would fit. They just don't want too, and most third parties are skipping physical as well which sucks.
This is where my problem lies, the fact that they just refuse physical media completely regardless of size too small or too big and they just don't care.
I've given up on amiibo's, I can afford them but I don't agree with the prices of these anymore. Nintendo is going too far and as such I'm adjusting my spending and using my money elsewhere that I feel I get better value.
That said, this is my opinion and for those who love these (yes I do too, they look great) then I'm happy these will make others happy but I just can't justify to myself the prices these have gotten too (at least CAD prices) so Switch 2 amiibo's have been a hard pass for me even though I really want these and the Metroid Prime 4 ones lol.
No true physical copy means no buy for me. I have it on Steam anyway but I'd have double dipped if they released a true physical copy of the game. All of squares games I've avoided on Switch 2 and will not buy anything that isn't true physical releases.
If they release a true physical copy as well this will be a day 1 buy without hesitation! This is great news though and looking forward to this and hopefully a true physical release!
30 fps isn't a dealbreaker for me. It's not ideal and I hope they can patch it to run at 60fps, but for me I don't want or need a PS5 or Xbox and I just want to have a physical copy. Especially for Switch 2 any third party games coming on real physical carts (and NOT the terrible GKC's) I want to support so we can continue to hopefully get more real physical releases on Switch 2.
I could get this on Steam, but for me it comes down to having (and supporting) a Switch 2 physical copy so I'll manage and deal with the 30 fps as long as it's steady and smooth without stuttering then I'm fine with it.
Well then, this was sold as "all on cart" with no mention of Switch 1 and 2 users getting shafted and not containing all games on cart like other console versions.
Thankfully mine arrives tomorrow so I didn't open it to be disappointed. I'll be returning it still sealed for a full refund. If they want my money then they can do a reprint with everything on cart!
This was blatant false advertising and their excuse doesn't cut it. I would have accepted and understood a slight delay if it meant getting all games on cart as it was originally advertised and sold as!
Doesn't matter because fk GKC's! I refuse to buy anything on the game key cards, and refuse to even buy it digitally out of spite. I guess it's a good thing because it's saved me money and letting me get to my backlog lol.
Well if this physical version materializes and is not a GKC as they said they wouldn't do, then I will buy this game day 1. Not a game I'd normally purchase, but at this point I'm skipping so many games because cheap companies keep going GKC so I have extra gaming money to spare so I'll support any and all third party games that release a true physical copy.
Hey Square Enix.... You need to learn from Rockstar! This is how's it's done! Because of this I will be picking up a Switch 1 physical copy, that coincidentally is at a good price right now.
Hopefully they release a true physical copy too for the Switch 2 and show again how it's done, compared to every 3rd party GCK with the exception of Cyberpunk and the Story of Seasons game. The only two 3rd party games I think that got physical releases.
Either way, free upgrade (or heck id even pay a small cost) to Switch 2 is a good option. Wish we could get that for some squeenix games, but they're stubborn idiots.
@floxi that is the only benefit of key cards, but some of us want proper physical and key cards are an abomination. Takes up full space on the console like digital while still needing a blank useless key card to carry around.
If I want to use my internal storage I'll buy digital, but I and many others want physical as collectors and to save storage space on the console itself.
It's too bad most are only releasing game key cards instead of true physical copies, so they'll all be games I avoid even digitally.
I played the heck out of Cyberpunk on PC, but had to support CDPR releasing true physical format on Switch 2 so bought it and played it again.
I just wish every other third party company would stop being cheap and release proper physical copies too. Their loss though, I'll find other games to buy lol.
This may not have been on my radar at first but coming to properly real physical release means I will buy and support this. I am happy to see Sega doing this and they will get my business.
Hey Square Enix, take note you fools. Now if only Sega would do this for all of their games and reconsider already released games to get a physical edition to come.
This price is absurd! More so when in Canada it's $30. Conversion should bring it to $27 so we get even more nickel and dimed up here.
Nintendo can go fk themselves, this price as is at $20 USD is way too high for what this adds and when they convert to CAD and then tack on a few extra bucks is just scummy as fk.
I'm not touching this dlc unless it goes on sale at 50% off, otherwise Nintendo isn't seeing my money for this.
Then I guess it's another squeenix game I won't be purchasing. Switch 2 is on garbage game key cards which is a deal breaker, and Switch 1 version has no upgrade path either then squeenix can go fk themselves. Proper physical or no money from me.
FFT is getting the upgrade path, so why not anything else? You wanna be cheap and not release proper physical copies for Switch 2 then I won't buy your games not even on other platforms. Squeenix is officially with EA and Ubisoft for companies I no longer support. Haven't bought an EA game in over a decade. Ubisoft I stopped after AC Valhalla, so don't think I need your games either squeenix because I don't.
Goodbye squeenix, it was fun while it lasted but that has come to an end it seems.
This price is absurd! Doesn't help to get physical I have to buy both when I have Mario Galaxy on the 3D All-Stars, so now I need to buy it again just to get Mario Galaxy 2 on a physical cartridge, and at a ridiculously overpriced package!
First with the Game Key Cards, now this? JFC Nintendo, you're really starting to push me away from console gaming completely with this garbage. This should be no more than $50!
@BrokenCiv 4 people. I had the physical copy pre-ordered in case it was half-decent, but I returned it (unopened of course) after reading reviews on how bad the game was. You can safely update the number to 4, haha
Well, if they want my money they need to release it in proper actual physical format and then I will buy it. Game key card is a hard pass and I won't support any game that is released on game key cards and I won't buy it digitally either.
Meh, squeenix can forget about my business until real physical for Switch 2 is released more they give Switch 1 copy an upgrade path. It can be paid for nominal amount but they screwed physical collectors hard so fk them and this game.
At the price Hori is asking it should be a 1080p camera like the official Nintendo camera. Only supplying a 480p camera is a joke unless they cut the price by at least half! Especially for an accessory that is niche and not required and imo barely adds anything to the console or Switch 2 games.
I'd have bought it because it's a pirahna plant to add to my gaming area, but for me anyway I really don't see myself using something like this but for that price and a 480p camera I won't buy it even for the appearance unless the price is drastically cut.
Hori used to make good accessories 2 decades ago, now they're overpriced cheap garbage riding on the name.
@larryisaman ya that Dq3 upgrade but not for 1&2 is ridiculous and squeenix has now lost me completely as a customer. ***** game key cards, I'll never support those and any company releasing on those.
Ok so like DQ 1&2 2D-HD Remaster i guess I'm not buying them. I'm fine buying Switch 1 copy if it was getting an upgrade path so I can have Switch 2 and physical, but this decision AGAIN by square enix shows how put of touch and greedy they are. Yet it was announced DQ 3 2D-HD Remaster is getting a Switch 2 upgrade, so why not this and the 1&2 Remaster? Even FFT is getting an upgrade path ffs.
What a bunch of morons at SE!
Don't want Switch 2 physical? Fine, but gice Switch 1 an upgrade path ffs! Their loss then, not mine since I have a backlog and even more future games willing to accept my money and time. SE is now put alongside the likes of EA and Ubisoft as never supporting ever again.
Guess my Switch 2 is exclusively for Nintendo first party games and any third party who (like CDPR) actually gives physical collectors a proper physical release. Oh and SE, don't think I'll buy your games on Steam instead, I just won't be buying your games at all ever again on any platform just like EA and Ubisoft.
Goodbye SE! Until you learn the error of your ways, I'm no longer a customer. If you choose to change this ridiculous path you're on then I'll reconsider.
@Kneppy18 no because you have full game size taking up the little storage space we have which is a downside all the while still having to pop a game car din the system. It's an absolutely garbage system and Nintendo should never have introduced these game key cards.
No real physical release then you don't get my money! Plenty of other games or things I can spend it on then. I refuse to support game key cards and any publisher using these I won't even buy the shop version, I'll (out of spite) ignore these games altogether. That and the game key card version for Switch 2 costs more? What a fkn joke!
@libersolis that's why I hate game key cards. I still need to insert a physical piece of useless plastic in my system while still using full storage space the game requires. It's a fkn abomination!
So Switch 2 version has no real physical version, just digital and the ridiculous game key cards, and now they say Switch 1 won't have an upgrade path? Ok then good job Square, you lost a sale and a general customer because I was going to buy Switch 1 physical copy of the game but now I'll just hard pass altogether.
I will NOT buy game key cards, only real physical games. So to take away any sort of upgrade path for the Switch 1 copy is just wrong. So now you're like Sega when it comes to Switch 2 how they did this same garbage, and possibly Capcom but I have to see where they choose to go. Meaning I'll never support and buy your games again.
Their is absolutely NO reason an upgrade path can't be made possible so stop being greedy fks! I have a backlog and their are plenty of other games coming out so I don't need your games if this is your behaviour and how you treat gamers who want physical games.
@Teksette Ya I won't lie, it is much more addictive than I expected. It's a fun little game so far. A welcome change of pace I needed from my usual Star Citizen, ESO, Helldivers 2 and then MKW and Cyberpunk on Switch 2. Those have been my recents, but this game though I load up daily since it arrived.
Of course after I imported the Switch 1 now they announce Switch 2 physical lol. Oh well thankfully the Switch 2 upgrade was only a few bucks and does the same thing so it's just minus the red cart, but glad to hear they're actually making a physical copy for Switch 2 and not using those game key card garbage.
@DetJayT I get they have the right to ban and even brick, but to me the bricking part is too far by making it completely unusable. That hardware now belongs to the user and they should still have access to use it even if just offline with physical media, or if they choose homebrew it's their hardware. It's a slippery slope and both sides I understand, and I hate cheaters and dont condone piracy but the hardware shouldn't be completely bricked if they have that ability to render it inoperable. So banning sure no problem, truly bricking it is a slippery slope.

Re: NIS America: Trails Beyond The Horizon Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release Is "Most Beneficial Option" For Fans
@Kneppy18 no because you have full game size taking up the little storage space we have which is a downside all the while still having to pop a game car din the system. It's an absolutely garbage system and Nintendo should never have introduced these game key cards.
Re: NIS America: Trails Beyond The Horizon Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release Is "Most Beneficial Option" For Fans
Re: Square Enix Rules Out Switch 2 "Upgrade Path" For Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
@libersolis that's why I hate game key cards. I still need to insert a physical piece of useless plastic in my system while still using full storage space the game requires. It's a fkn abomination!
Re: Square Enix Rules Out Switch 2 "Upgrade Path" For Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
Re: Fantasy Life i Switch 2 Physical Release And Photo Mode Update Announced
@Teksette Ya I won't lie, it is much more addictive than I expected. It's a fun little game so far. A welcome change of pace I needed from my usual Star Citizen, ESO, Helldivers 2 and then MKW and Cyberpunk on Switch 2. Those have been my recents, but this game though I load up daily since it arrived.
Re: Fantasy Life i Switch 2 Physical Release And Photo Mode Update Announced
@Teksette LOL same, I got my copy 4 days ago from Japan now I see this. Oh well no biggie with the upgrade for cheap.
Re: Fantasy Life i Switch 2 Physical Release And Photo Mode Update Announced
Of course after I imported the Switch 1 now they announce Switch 2 physical lol. Oh well thankfully the Switch 2 upgrade was only a few bucks and does the same thing so it's just minus the red cart, but glad to hear they're actually making a physical copy for Switch 2 and not using those game key card garbage.
Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water
@DetJayT I get they have the right to ban and even brick, but to me the bricking part is too far by making it completely unusable. That hardware now belongs to the user and they should still have access to use it even if just offline with physical media, or if they choose homebrew it's their hardware. It's a slippery slope and both sides I understand, and I hate cheaters and dont condone piracy but the hardware shouldn't be completely bricked if they have that ability to render it inoperable. So banning sure no problem, truly bricking it is a slippery slope.
Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water
@jsty3105 Ya true, they likely misused the word, typical media these days. You make a good point.
