@sihy They've shown so many different shaders and even numbered them, then chose one and showed it to all backers. You haven't been keeping up with the game.
Even if you only compare the first images of this game to this video, it's less of a jump than what happened with MN9. The jury is out on that game, it was bad-to-mediocre.
I have the PS4 version of Doom and am still excited to get it on Switch day1. It's making my gaming way more versatile, lunch break will never be the same again
I would love to see Camelot do another Shining Force, but feel a brand new entry would have to shake up the formula in order to differentiate itself from Fire Emblem.
Would be great if we could get the first three games re-released though.
Lol, you can't account for bad taste and everyone is a critic. Just in these comments alone the hip-kids swear it's a middling game because it isn't what they invisioned or its too easy. Things that go beyond subjective and into nitpicking territory.
These people were never going to like Odyssey...or even actually play the game in a lot of cases. They're bored, because there's currently no lootboxers taking advantage of them. Battlefront 2 hasn't come out yet and these are growing boys with pent up anger. Instead of shouting at eachother about Star Cards, they're trolling about the internet in hopes that anyone will listen to bad opinions.
Hmmm, I'm looking forward to how they'll approach this differently.
Lol, people are still complaining about voice chat. Something that isn't essential to Nintendo's current online games, can be worked-around with a separate voice chat app, and even playing on PS4/XBO shows barely anyone uses it outside of eSports matches. Like wanting a shiney piece of candy for the sole purpose of throwing it away.
Lol, asked the devs if there was a Switch version, I would prefer my copy on there. They said there were no plans for it yet
Anyway, unlocked my KS copy on XBO and really didn't like the game much. My wife was playing for about 30min before we were completely lost. Decided "let's try to get killed by these invisible monsters"......it was impossible. This "remaster" is really them updating an incoherent early access build.
Would stay away from this one until any trusted gamers/reviewers give you a recommendation.
Looks great, more local co-op games is never a bad thing for me. Hopefully the controls are smooth and responsive, wasn't digging Wulverblade very much.
After playing through a bit of this, I just can't agree with the score. The combo system is all over the place and enemies love attacking from off-camera.
R, ZL, and double-tapping left or right could all initiate a run. Double-tapping is also in the combo system. Because of this all of it gets mixed up, trying to pull an uppercut ends up in a running shield bash. The Y button is both the normal attack button and the pick-up item button....in a game where there are constantly things on the floor to pick up, this means picking up a worthless little dagger instead of comboing the bad guy in front of you will happen often.
Can't roll up or down, another problem in a game where bosses can clear an entire lane with one attack. This game needs an update beyond just adding an easy mode, let us customize the controls.
Vita failed for so many other reasons, love how he ignores the 3DS and how Nintendo turned that situation around.
Personally, home consoles are in the process of shooting themselves in the foot. They're focusing on 4K console revisions, while the standards of good game design get tossed aside.
Luckily, JPN devs carried the torch and brought us a phenomenal release schedule on PS4. If not for that, Uncharted, and Hellblade; this would've been a boring year for home consoles.
@David_Dudeney Hmm, I figured putting out higher resolution textures would up the filesize quite a bit. Honestly don't know jack about development
According to this article, Doom + multiplayer comes in at 25gb. While NBA2K18 comes in at about 28gb. So it makes me wonder what docked resolution NBA2K18 has while pushing the graphics that it does.
@FragRed Of course, they havent completely sold through their initial shipment yet. The point is they didn't pay to produce so much that it'll never make its money back.
It's already sold-through 70% of its first shipment in Japan. This is better than selling through 20% of a much bigger shipment and having a bunch of un-sold copies floating around the bargain bin.
Folks shouldn't worry about Samus Returns. Once again, this is a case of calculated shipments. They didn't flood the market with copies, just like quite a few other Nintendo releases in the past month or so.
Massive sales numbers are not the goal with these releases, but rather selling through initial stocks and then releasing another set amount in a second printing. All the while, the digital sales (which no one has numbers for) keep building up.
Just came in to say it took some getting used to, but I love this version. Hits the perfect mix of singleplayer content and online content, love playing solo in portable mode then starting an online parallel quest when getting home.
What a great week! I'm getting Steamworld Dig2, one of the Pokemon games (never played silver or gold!), and a physical version of Xenoverse2 tomorrow.
"Arcade Archives Mario Bros --- Available from 27th September"
Sooo next wednesday....they gotta plan these releases a little better >_>
How they handle this patch will determine me buying the NS version.
Patching is simply part of gaming now. Does it suck? Yes. But there were always going to be teething issues between 3rd parties and Nintendo, hopefully all of this gets straightened out quickly.
I'm waiting for the physical release date to see if they fix this corruption problem. If not, or if the patch was really slow to be implemented...then no buy for me.
9.9.99 was an amazing day. Despite Dreamcast not having a big library, it's my most memorable system. Gah, always dream of seeing a Dreamcast2 some day.
Anyway, I may be splurging on that JSR special edition.
"This may be due to the cutscene-heavy career / story mode, but it's still an extraordinary figure for a save file."
I think the MyNeighborhood open-world section has a lot to do with this as well. It seems to be tied to the save files and that's why we have such a big system memory install.
As for the optimization, there's no surprise. We all know Nintendo is good at that, but you have to realize the big graphical difference we're talking about here. NBA2K18 looks pretty damn good on NS, great facial animations and reflections. Any games shooting for realism in their art-style will have big choices to make if porting to NS, and that'll be a big hurdle.
I wasn't a fan of Legend of Legacy, couldn't stick with it. This looks to be a sequel, or just a new game with the same exact 9-character structure. Will wait for reviews.
@umniknight That makes sense, and is something several folks have brought up before.
Not all games are released in droves with the intention of selling-through entire stocks. These are calculated shipments and BandaiNamco are happy with the results already.
It's almost as if they're the company with actual data and we're simply gaming enthusiasts with little-to-no data....hmmm.
I'm willing to bet we won't see VC or app release info until they get their online subscription up and running next year.
NDirect Wishes: a ton of JPN-developed re-releases. Ninja Gaiden 1-3, Devil's Third sporting cross-platform play with PC, anything by PlatinumGames and Grasshopper Manufacture.
NDirect Reality: 15min of SMO gameplay, 15min of Samus Returns + upcoming 3DS games, then the last 15min will be Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade2 info.
Great stuff. And this is likely true of any developer working with Nintendo. I'm willing to bet the shooting sections of Nier: Automata were made better thanks to P* getting involved with Star Fox Zero.
@lina-mg lol, because random guy Sean Malstron is to be believed more than the very company who said Fusion and Zero were successes. A guy who has a clear hate-on for Nintendo/Sakamoto just from reading a couple of his tweets. Riiiight. Let's ignore that they've been re-sold as digital titles through the eShop and likely gained even more sales as well as acclaim from actual gamers.
Unless we're talking a lot of enhancements, either price is too expensive. It should be $30 on XBO/PS4 and $40 on Switch.
There's no reason why a $60 release from 2011 should be $40+ in 2017. Games like Hellblade and Yakuza Kiwami have a lot more going for them and both launched at $30.
I don't consider a gaming console a toy any more than I'd consider a phone, tablet, or movie to be a toy. They have the capacity to entertain a child, but aren't exclusively made for that purpose.
Hellblade is on a toy. Old people learn to prevent dementia with toys. Soldiers learn to fly/shoot/sail on a toy. Astronauts prepare for deep-space missions on a toy.
I preferred Origins to Legends, even then still own both so don't see the point in buying this. Good to know it works just as good as the WiiU release I guess...
You know what would be nice, seeing Beyond Good & Evil or No More Heroes get definitive editions on Switch.
I'd really just like more variations on salmon run that rotate to ensure there's always a job open. It's my favorite part of the game and deserves to be expanded.
So now they'll skip the ideal time to sell a horror game, then place this within weeks of Ni No Kuni2, Battlefront 2, Pokemon UltraSun+Moon, and possibly Skyrim for NS. Not looking good.
@psylockerules I played Rev2 in co-op and thought it was really fun. Honestly may still double-dip.
MHXX's situation is both frustrating and funny. The 3DS version should've been JPN exclusive and the Switch version should've been localized for everywhere else.
That way, neither territories would've been hit by identical releases too close to one another.
And now they're using RERevelations1+2 to gauge NS sales potential......absolutely bonkers.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Loses Out To Assassin's Creed Origins In UK Charts Race
Top of the single-format charts and 2nd place in all-format. Against a game on two platfoms with three editions (regular, deluxe, gold).
Pretty amazing UK debut for Odyssey imo.
Re: KORG Gadget is Coming to the Switch in Spring 2018
O_O YAY!
I loved the KORG apps on 3DS, was hoping they'd release something on Switch eventually. I am completely on board, day1 purchase.

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Mario Bros. (Switch eShop)
I'm interested but as others have said, $8 is too much. You could buy bigger NES games for like $4 on 3DS. Love that they're recreating these though.
Would've been nice if MyNintendo offered a release week discount for this at least....but nope.
