Re: Ubisoft CEO Believes The Next Generation Of Consoles Will Be The Last

Berto_Gamut

Nope. Global Internet bandwidth is nowhere near a stable level. Even if every country vowed to stabilize it worldwide, it would take 3 or 4 console generations to complete. Then when finally put in place, it'll still suffer from input lag.

And that's if we completely ignore games evolving into much more demanding things over time.

I like the idea of going back to basics, so am completely on board for the Let's Go games. It's pokemon, this is supposed to be about folks from all walks of life getting together to train, battle, and trade.

Quite a few pokemon designs from gen3 to present are pretty crappy and they likely didn't get the best feedback from Z-moves in Pk Sun/Moon. Hopefully re-exploring the first couple of generations inspires them to come up with even better Pokemon and mechanics.

Re: Nintendo Bans Online Services For Prominent Hacker's Switch Console

Berto_Gamut

It makes complete sense to me, you can't hack a console then continue leeching off their online service with the same user log-in and expect no repercussions.

@spaceboyscreams And they could tinker with custom-built PCs or raspberry pi's all day if they want. Stop pretending like hackers are selflessly bringing cloud saves to the system..they just want to get things that cost money, for free. The "Robin Hood" argument doesn't apply here, it's more "steal from developers, give to yourself".

Re: Soapbox: Let's Give Nintendo Switch Online A Chance Before We Throw It To The Wolves

Berto_Gamut

I'd only be getting it for cloud saves, which is not worth it. Don't really have an interest in Nintendo's online games, the headphone problem, or SNES games with some tacked on online component.

Lack of VC support was the breaking point, and them offering select SNES games directly opposes the "oh, they're just moving on" argument. They simply hid it behind a monthly fee instead of the ability to carry those purchases over.

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

Berto_Gamut

@SmaggTheSmug Don't think you read my comment right. Nearly every indie/3rd party/retro game outside of Nintendo is available for PC/XBO/PS4 and usually at a much cheaper price.

I was happily going to shell out more money to those devs for the same games on Switch...but this news makes me want to invest in Switch software less. Still picking up new Nintendo exclusives though.

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

Berto_Gamut

Lame. Switch quickly went from a system that I want all my indie/3rd party/retro games on, to just picking up the big offline-only Nintendo physical releases whenever they happen.

Was planning a major buy-up of a ton of eShop games for my birthday. Now, it all reduced to just Mario Tennis Aces until they reveal the rest of the years lineup at E3 (SSB and NMH).

This was the best Steam/GOG commercial Nintendo could ever produce

Re: Nintendo Labo Drops To Fourth (And 17th) In The Japanese Charts

Berto_Gamut

That's expected with how well it sold compared to anything else on week1. Love all the extremely near-sighted comments though, they make me laugh.

Doesn't matter that it dropped under a very well-received highly rated game that deserves good sales....especially when the powers of basic math reveal that Labo is still outselling God of War there by nearly 80,000 units:
God of War total: 105,125
Labo total: 182,227

And that's without counting all the supplemental kits that Labo sells. Only fools can't see the forest for the trees.

Re: Review: Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 02 - Robot Kit (Switch)

Berto_Gamut

@gatorboi352 You may not see it that way but this funnels back into parents buying multiple Switches for the kids. Nothing is wrong with a gaming console also releasing educational tools and nothing says the console has to be exclusive to either pillar.

@thegamesquid ...Except it's already happening: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/04/uk_schools_want_to_bring_the_cardboard_creativity_of_nintendo_labo_into_the_classroom

I work in the same office as an educational computer class in America and they've already explained it to parents who are excited to test run it in the classrooms. If you can't see the educational potential in this, then frankly you're blind. After seeing the recent video, kids are excited to understand what it would take to control a wheelchair with just a Switch and Labo kit.

Re: Review: Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 02 - Robot Kit (Switch)

Berto_Gamut

Calling this a failure based on less than a week of sales and adults reviewing it solely as games with really weird Ikea-like controllers...lol

The kids (or parents of these kids) going through coding classes, or robotics, or that have any passing interest in interfacing software with cardboard-ware (heheh) are the targets here. If Nintendo continues in the right path, those people will be around forever making unique things and programming them.

The person expecting a 30min build time as if this were a $5 Lego set with the sole purpose of playing the included mini-games...are doing it wrong.

Re: Nintendo's Mobile Titles Have "Not Reached A Satisfactory Profit Point"

Berto_Gamut

I feel all their mobile games should work like Super Mario Run. Pay once and you get the game with no gacha crap or lootbox shenanigans. SMR is the only one I still play.

Furthermore, with Switch selling so well and a projection of 20million sales for the next year, that's where they should focus everything. When Voez released, I thought we would be getting more touch-only games on Switch that don't require joycon. Hearthstone, Super Mario Run, Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders...all of these should be available on Switch so they can funnel smartphone owners back to their dedicated gaming console and make current Switch owners happy in the process.
