Could of done so much with the original formula. As usual they have to over complicate with some pointless story crap, missions look over complicated as well. This isn't Lunar lander, its just another ruined Atari classic.

Yes an incredible year, but 1988 will be the best for me when the Japanese domination was about to begin. With PC Engine, Megadrive, followed by Super Famicom a few years later. The true golden age of home gaming the 16bit era.

Mostly forgettable dross I expect, the usual Metroidvania clones without a doubt.

Bought it on steam deck a few weeks ago, it's a great game.

@LiquidNinja totally agree, streets of rage 4 is damn good. Final fight needs to return with the same passion.

Final fight, UN Squadron, need reboots.

Great review definitely getting this, and the mention of the Konix multi system. A system that would of changed gaming forever. Its about time someone brought out something similar now.

Looks amazing, and this is what makes NES & other retro systems so special. Devs still pushing this iconic hardware. Something that won't happen with modern systems!! Check out Sam's journey on NES & Earthion coming to Megadrive. Both stunning examples of pushing these brilliant systems. And none of this ***** 4k 60fps talk we here all the damn time nowadays.

@cookeecut totally agree it's idiots like them, that are killing the industry. With this constant obsession with tech specs!! Its laughable really. Its all about great games, Mario Galaxy 1 &2 are still two of the best games ever. Running on old tech.

Good news in my opinion, more time for devs to get there games ready. Switch still has plenty life left in it.

Love the idea of all these classics being released, but to be honest if you love retro gaming your better off having an emulation setup or Steam deck.

@NeonPizza yes agreed, considering the stunning pixel art that Wayforward designed for Contra 4. The new visuals are a bit of a cop out. Obviously easier to throw these together than investing in sprite work. I will still buy though but will wait for physical version.

@NeonPizza good news my friend, I will try the PS5 demo later. Definitely a great game, would of preferred pixel art like the classics though, love the Nes. Snes, Megadrive, DS. It's strange some of the visuals look really effective, some look quite budget like you said.

@NeonPizza yes good point, thinking of buying steam deck soon. So hopefully it might come over to that. If not PS5 version, shame it's not getting a physical release.

Enjoyed the demo, but the lag, framerate needs to be sorted. No excuse for it really, is it an old build with no optimisation.. I don't know. Would of preferred pixel art as well, enjoyed the demo though besides the issues. A physical release would be great as well.

Love Zero mission, Fusion, Samus returns, Dread. Super Metroid. All stunning 2D Metroids.

The legacy arcade stuff yes!! A new Final fight, reboots of the Cps1, Cps2, would be amazing but done right.

Keep it for me. It certainly wouldn't be my choice of number 1.

@Clyde_Radcliffe hey totally agree, games have got to big for their own good in recent years. Personally I don't care for these endless open world crap fests. But unfortunately a lot do. But slowly it's killing the industry with ever growing costs, and demands from players. Indie scene is definitely becoming more interesting.

Bottom line is games development is getting more & more expensive. Companies are suffering, that's why originality is scare nowadays. Devs just make games for maximum sales. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

Long live single player games then, never play online so its still all good for me. Long live the 3DS.

Great news, hopefully there will be plenty more. Outrun, Galaxy force, Super Hang on, Scud racer, Daytona, Sega rally. Would be amazing to see these titles brought back to life. Hopefully Panzer dragoon Zwei will get the conversion treatment absolute brilliant game. Panzer dragoon orta was pretty damn good as well.

@aresius hopefully, that's what sets them apart from the rest.

I know most probably want Switch 2 to be just that. But what I love about Nintendo is the quirky innovation they bring to the industry. Its almost a bit disappointed to think it's just going to a Switch with more power. Time will tell I guess.

Not happy it's not on cartridge, but I will buy. Not sure about the graphical style, I'm old school & prefer pixel art. But if its anywhere as beautiful as Mario wonder then I'm in.

Love em all but, Dread, Samus returns & Othsr M are the stand outs for me.

Playing the 3DS now, absolutely love this series. Definitely getting the Switch version. But love the 3D effect on 3DS.

For one Digital Foundry have no idea what Nintendo have to reveal in the specs department. Secondly I don't give a ***** for GTA especially on a Nintendo system. If I wanted it I could play on my PS5.

It's a joke, give you a box but no card. Crysis on switch had this as well.

Personally still prefer the Ocarina of time formula to the new Zelda games.
