Re: Publishers Are "Thanking" Nintendo For Game-Key Cards On Switch 2

Andee

@vyseofhr — exactly - I'm somewhere in the middle in that while I'm not thrilled about the idea of having to download the game and have it take up extra space on the internal memory, I understand that manufacturing games beyond a certain size is prohibitively expensive for the solid state cartridge format. I'm just baffled as to why Nintendo aren't offering smaller sized carts for games that are nowhere near 64gb.

@Elldot true, but realistically what are the odds of little Timmy ripping the cart out of the box as they're leaving the store and not being able to endure the car ride home before he can get to an internet connection? Hell, it might give Game something to do if they had some sort of in-store download facility so that the game is installed right there and then, should a customer wish

[Farming is] slow, it's fiddly, it's player-unfriendly, and worst of all, it's boring. The other Lives have some sense of progression, but not Farming! There should have been skills that allowed you to plant multiple seeds, or water an entire patch in one go, but nope. It's tedious all the way to the end of the game.

As much as I like these kinds of games, the idea of slow and tedious farming is starting to become something of a dealbreaker, especially given many of them seem to implement it now, yet seem to stick to the EXACT same formula (dig, plant, water, wait), with very little variety — and automation should absolutely be a thing that's added organically to the process over time.

@Pillowpants Yeah, I don't want to descend into another futile debate on the merits of game cards, but I'm going to be very discerning with which ones I purchase — basically if it's a game I can get for cheaper than digital and/or it's one I think i'll end up passing on/selling at some point, I'm not going to lose sleep over the idea of acquiring one.

Re: PSA: Switch 2's Screen Comes With A Pre-Applied Film Layer, Don't Peel It Off

Has anyone encountered the screen protector that comes with the official Switch 2 case? I've never successfully managed to apply one to a device without at least a speck or two of dust getting in there — apparently you need to be inside a NASA-level atmospheric vacuum with the dexterity of a nanobot surgeon and have to get it perfect on the first attempt.

Re: Nintendo Defends Switch 2's Perceived Lack Of Innovation

I'm actually relieved that we basically got Switch 2.0 — if they threw everything out and started again with some weird-ass contraption made out of chips that works through the power of photosynthesis, while interesting, I don't think would go down super well.

I didn't like some of the transformations and the backtracking became really tedious for me in this game. It's a good game, but for me it's a 7/10 and I don't intend to play it ever again.

I had the same issue with Dragon's Trap — I got quite far in but at one point I forgot what I'd done last and wasn't sure what to do next, and yeah - SO much backtracking... Keep meaning to fire it up again and start afresh.

Re: Ecco The Dolphin Is Making A Comeback With Remasters & New Game

Andee

Definitely agree that a few QoL tweaks wouldn't go amiss. Also those last two levels in Ecco 1 were utterly unforgivable; the screenscrolling mechanic comes out of absolutely nowhere, dying at the final boss sends you to the start of the previous level with no password/checkpoint. It sucks all the triumph out of the final leg of the game and reduces it to an absolute chore.

Re: PSA: Switch Update Adds Handy Feature Allowing System Transfer To "Dedicated Server"

Andee

This would be a really cool thing to do before Switch 2 drops, and I'd be totally ready to do it... except that it essentially wipes your Switch 1; Just for my own peace of mind I'll probably wait til I've got both consoles in the same room before attempting any transfer/wipey shenanigans

I am curious to know though, could I just sign into my Nintendo account on Switch 2 and just have all my games and save data waiting for me when I log in? I'd actually rather just do that than having to upload everything as well as redownload it...
