Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Worried About Screen Burn-In With Switch OLED?

123akis

My Samsung Galaxy S8 has screen burn-in from WhatsApp and the Google logo on my keyboard but generally I don't notice it unless I try to, I would notice it more if I put up the screen brightness on a white background. I think this must have happened when I was on holiday in Spain 🇪🇸 or Greece 🇬🇷 sitting at the beach with the sun ☀️ directly shining on the screen with max brightness... I definitely won't make the same mistake again lol (Yes, I like emojis!)

Re: After Months Of 'Switch Pro' Rumours, Nintendo Officially Unveils The Nintendo Switch OLED Model

123akis

I've had my original neon read/blue Switch since summer 2017 and I mainly play docked but I still want to get this as there are still many times where I play in handheld and soon I'll probably be travelling more. Also since day 1 of getting my switch the joy cons are very wobbly and I didn't get it repaired nor have I tried the duct tape method.

I really do think the OLED screen and slightly bigger size will look a lot better! The kickstand will be a major improvement for me too, it's waay too annoying to play multiplayer with someone with a silly flimsy kickstand that you cannot even change the angle of!

Re: Nintendo Reveals The Top 15 Most-Downloaded Switch Games In May 2021 (Europe)

@RainbowGazelle Also, you can pay £84 for 2 game vouchers, making each game £42 which is usually how much you'd find it for at retailers or it can work out cheaper as places like GAME tend to charge more! See: https://ec.nintendo.com/GB/en/pretickets/70020000000081

EDIT: Apologies, I was skimming the comments really fast and thought nobody else mentioned it. But at least I found the correct link so that you can browse the list on any device

Re: Review: Overcooked! All You Can Eat - Stuff Your Face With This Awesome Multiplayer Marvel

123akis

I first discovered the fun of Overcooked when oc2 was available to play free on NSO game trials, I was about to buy it but as soon as they announced this new edition I knew it's a no brainer to wait.

When I tried oc2, I only played single-player which was still fun but it's clearly designed to be played with others, I can imagine how much fun it would be to play with my friends or cousins! Then at times where I'm playing by myself and still want others to play with, then the cross-platform play means faster matchmaking.

The downside with this Swich version though it that there's no 60fps so I do wonder how much better it makes the experience but I still think I'm getting it on Switch for the portability and easy local play.

Re: Feature: Zelda: Majora's Mask Is A Testament To What Nintendo Is Capable Of When It Gets Weird

123akis

Great read, I definitely learnt a few terminologies there which is not a prob though, I like learning new stuff! Please Nintendo Life do more articles like this, just seems like nowadays articles are shorter and videos are taking over but I still like having info presented in the form of writing.

My first experience of this game was on 3ds and it's easily one of my favourite games! When I have time in the summer this year, I want to play through OOT and MM again.

Re: Nintendo Will Stop Repairing Original 3DS and 3DS XL Consoles Next Month Due To Parts Shortage

123akis

I remember the time when I was a super excited year 7 kid going with my mum to my local GAME early morning on the launch day to pick up my aqua blue 3ds! (Costed £230 at that time lol). And then when the "New" models came out, I upgraded to a New 3ds XL and sold my original console. I sadly regret selling it though, that little system had nostalgic value. I only got £55 for it, was just thinking about money at the time :/

Re: Where To Pre-Order Monster Hunter Rise And The Three amiibo

123akis

After reading some comments above about Gamestop, I am quite shocked to see that you need to pay extra for release date delivery! Don't they receive the stock early enough to be able to send it with a standard-delivery option so customers can receive it on time? For example, I am in UK and when I pre-ordered SM3D All-Stars, they sent it with FREE delivery via Royal Mail 48 (2 day delivery) which is fine because they sent it on Wednesday so that I could receive it on time! Or if I got it from GAME, then I would of had to pay a small fee for delivery but at least it's not any extra for release date!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 20th)

123akis

I will be playing a lot of Splatoon 2, focusing on the single-player levels. I have 50 hours in and STILL haven't completed it because most of the time I've been playing online especially with ranked battles. Also, I haven't even touched the Octo expansion yet which I own! Other than that, I will definitely be playing Super Mario Bros. 35, it's quite addictive though!

Re: Miitopia Has An 18+ Rating In Russia Because Of Its Same-Sex Relationships

123akis

@Eel My comment and many others (but not all) was worded in a way that was not offensive, I believe that I didn't break the community rules. (I'm looking back on it now, thanks to Google's cache of this page!). Mine was not part of the "woke" argument either. What I said was absolutely relevant to the article (except for the disclaimer at the end but I just had to for the sake of clarity!). Am I not allowed to have even a slightly different perspective? You might as well just completely remove ALL comments and disable it!

Re: Nintendo Hiring Splatoon 3 Level Designer To Renovate "Existing" Stages

123akis

My theory is that Nintendo were not planning for a Splatoon 3 for 2022 but the developers thought of so many new ideas that they convinced the bosses!

I really enjoy Splatoon and I'm thrilled that Nintendo are giving this franchise love! As long as they make this game different enough and not do an EA, it will be interesting to see what legacy content they bring.

Re: Splatoon 3 Was Just Announced, But Splatoon 2 Isn't Done Just Yet

123akis

Pretty much as expected, when they released the previous update they did say that they'll continue to monitor how people are playing and release more updates. Now that I have a bit more free time, I'll be playing this game almost every day. When I bought the game 3 years ago, I got it with the Octo expansion but still haven't touched this part of the game yet! Mainly because of time and whenever I did play, I got carried away with ranked battles haha

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon 3, Coming To Switch In 2022

123akis

To those of you saying that why can't Nintendo just update Splatoon 2 instead... yes Nintendo can do that but there's only so much that they can do, from this trailer it seems like (I hope!) they want to make a lot of changes made possible by a new release.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon 3, Coming To Switch In 2022

123akis

Nice, I'll take it! But it does feel too soon for me too as only just recently I'm getting more hours in Splatoon 2. If anything... I would have rather got a new Mario Kart. I must say though I am so happy that Splatoon is getting love from Nintendo!

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Overtaken 3DS Lifetime Sales In Just Four Years

123akis

Wow that's incredible! I knew the financial figures were coming on February 1st so a few days ago I made some predictions and I was bang on about it selling 10 million more from the last September figure! I just hope now that Nintendo keeps the momentum with more games though and not get too carried away with the numbers.

Re: Random: The NSO Icon On The Switch Home Menu Is Driving Some Users Crazy

123akis

Initially I was thinking what an odd choice of colour there and I was thinking why couldn't Nintendo put a globe icon similar to what they have used in the past for internet browsers but it won't be consistent with the branding for NSO hence be even more odd and be mistaken for a browser or network settings. I am sure we will all get used to the new icon soon. Or Nintendo could have put it in settings but then most Switch owners won't know about it.

Imagine if that parental controls icon came today... I think there will be an even bigger outcry than this. People will say "Ahh I hate this orange icon in the middle of my screen!".

Re: PSA: Use A Wired Connection When Playing Smash Bros. Ultimate Online

123akis

To those of you saying you cannot bring an ethernet cable to where your switch is, I highly recommend getting powerline adapters. That's what I use and it works really well. I have these. You get two adapters. It basically provides internet connection through the electrical wiring in your home. You plug one adapter where the router is and the other where you want an ethernet connection. You can also buy more adapters if you want ports in other rooms. Very easy to set up.

Re: Nintendo Currently Has "No Plans" To End Online Services For The 3DS

123akis

I recently bought Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D from Argos for a really good deal at £10.99. I'm really enjoying it! I still have my Wii copy of the original release but for the price I got the 3ds version for, it was a no brainer for this amazing game! I like the 'new mode' because this game is quite challenging.

Re: Super Mario Maker 2 File Size And Other Details Revealed

123akis

I pre-ordered it digitally with the voucher, I'll probably use the second one on AC New Horizons unless I decide to get another game on the list digitally before then.

I was originally planning to get it physically and even pre ordered the limited edition version from ShopTo. I kept debating whether I should go digital or not. Then I realised this is the game I would always want to have available on my switch. Having to put the cartridge in whenever I want to play other people's levels really sounds strange to me lol.

Re: Turns Out The Switch's Wireless NES Controllers Will Work With New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

123akis

Why embed a GameXplain video here?? Alex's lovely voice is much better (Not saying GameXplain is bad, I watch them to!).

And for the price point, I think Nintendo tries to justify the prices of re-released Wii U games because the system had a very small user-base. HOWEVER this game already sold 5.77 million (and New Super Luigi U sold 3.04 million), AND it's part of the Nintendo Selects range for less than £20!!

Re: Nintendo Download: Festive Offers (Europe)

123akis

I picked up Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for 47p! How?? Well I had £6 worth of gold points from SSB Ultimate along with a bit more points from before... And as soon as I see Shantae, I thought I had to use the points!

I played Pirate's curse on 3ds and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it!
