During April Nintendo of America took away physical rewards from Club Nintendo ahead of maintenance work, and it's now reintroduced its standard range a day ahead of schedule. Little has changed, though it's worth checking out the updated options on the official website, with Mario and Luigi 3DS pouches catching the eye.
The download game rewards have also been updated, this time including two Virtual Console games for Wii and Wii U, a DSiWare title and — in a first — a 3DS eShop title. Details below.
- Super Metroid — 200 coins (Wii U Virtual Console — 10/10 in our review)
- 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure — 200 coins (3DS eShop — 8/10 in our review)
- Brain Age Express: Arts and Letters — 200 coins (DSiWare via 3DS eShop — 7/10 in our review)
- Mario Kart 64 — 250 coins (Wii Virtual Console — 9/10 in our review)
These titles are available until 8th June, and bear in mind that Mario Kart 64 can also be download from the Wii Shop via the Wii mode on a Wii U system.
So those are your fresh offerings this month. Let us know which will take some of your coins in the comments and poll below.

Super Metroid for me!
Finally! I can get the 3D Classic I was missing. I've been waiting so long for this to happen. I now have gotten all the 3D Classics free.
I was hoping the gold nunchuk would be available again or the SNES classic controller.
Disappointed. I thought we would see new physical rewards. And I already have Mario Kart 64 , got it for 200 coins.
Mario and Luigi pouches have been there for a while already.
Sigh Guess they really didn't do anything at all with Club Nintendo, other than backend stuff.
EDIT: Speaking of Club Nintendo, does anyone remember when they reveal the Platinum rewards for each year? I'd like to know whether we're getting Mario stickers or Mario folders this year, considering the pattern of progressively dumber and cheaper rewards.
Here I was hoping the justification for taking down physical rewards in April was because they were going to actually update the rewards for once...no such luck.
There should be an option for "I live in Europe so we cant get games with Club Nintendo "
@AVahne end of June/early July
Don't have a classic controller so no Mario kart for me. How hard would it be to update the system to use the game pad in place of the classic controller?
WOW GREAT CN UPDATE!
@MrCanzine IKR?
Do u need a NA Wii U for this?
I'm going to be getting both of the Wii U rewards! If the free game that comes with MK8 gives you coins, then I'll get Kirby too!
Man NOA sucks. I thought we'd get a cool wallet or hat like NOE. We still have Kirby patches and crap.
Snapped up Kirby's Adventure! I'm so glad we get a decent update for once instead of... shiver Urban Champion...
Surprisingly something to use coins on for once; I'm going to get Kirby's Adventure.
Are we ever going to get interesting VC games again? I haven't bought a VC game since November!
I already own Super Metroid but if it'd let me download another, i'd do it!
I just paid the $10 two weeks ago for Mario Kart 64, dang. I got it to stream for my Twitch channel, since I still own the actual copy. Oh well. I am hoping they bring back that green Yoshi box — I couldn't get back enough points to get it at the time, now I have plenty.
I might have jumped on 3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure before I bought Triple Deluxe, but now that I have... I think I'll pass. I don't want too much Kirby!
I already own three of these games long time ago, and Brain Age doesn't seem to be remotely interesting for me. The lineup doesn't leave to be desired to say at least.
3D Classic Kirby's Adventure for me!
Nah....not that good.
Nothing. I'm still waiting for Radar Mission to come on again. It's been months now, so I'll wait several more.
I was hoping that the temporary removal of physical items meant a new stock was coming. Sad to see the old stuff still there.
I have to spend 400 points or they'll expire. So Mario Kart 64 and 3D Kirby
@jpfan1989 Coins can expire?
I really want to get Mario Kart 64 as Wii Points Cards seem to be difficult to find these days, but I'm really debating if I should register some of my unregistered games to get it as I don't have enough for it right now. Do you guys think it's worth getting Mario Kart 64 now?
Already have Kirby and Super Metroid. Don't care about Brian Age and have Mario Kart 8 preordered so looks like I will pass on any off thee for myself. However I was happy to see Kirby as my son asked me to buy it for him this morning. So decided to give him a nice surprise when he got home from school. I agree with others I kind of hoped that there might be some new rewards or hell even get items back in stock. Mario shirt has been sold out in anything other than small size for almost 2 months.
Wow, they spent this long updating to just remove rewards.
Way to go!
Picked up Mario Kart 64.
Now to build up my Coins again. lol
@Iggly I've been looking everywhere for wii points cards with no luck as well. ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW WHERE A FELLA CAN BUY A WII POINTS CARD IN CANADA? I've got a hankering for Faxanadu!
@MixMasterMudkip The only one I got for free was Urban Champion. Wouldn't have paid for it otherwise.
@Mrclaycoat Wii points cards seem to be a dying breed as stores I know that usually carry some don't sell them anymore. It's a shame too because I realize that there is a lot of good retro games out there that the Wii U VC doesn't have.
Awesome! Definitely getting Kirby!
I'm not sure why anyone was expecting a new catalog since they add physical items all the time without maintenance
so glad i bought super mario 3 instead of kirby cause now i can get them both
Super Metroid is a classic, but I already own it! And I'd like Kirby's Adventure, but it's a home console game so I'd rather get it on Wii U.
Dang it! If only I had a Wii classic controller! I would totally download Mario Kart 64!
While I can't say I'm surprised by the complete lack of new items in the rewards catalog, I am a little mystified as to what the lengthy downtime could have been for. But then, they said "maintenance," not "upgrade." I guess what they were maintaining was stagnancy!
Super Metroid!
@Iggly I personally love Mario Kart 64, though once you've cleared all the GP races it's not as fun without other players. If you have enough coinage after registering some games I say it's worth getting.
(Just be sure to have a Classic Controller if you've got a Wii U. and if you've got a Wii that can support GameCube controllers, go with the GC controller, N64 Virtual Console games play so much better with those in my opinion)
@TreesenHauser Oh okay thanks for the info. I personally got both a Wii and Wii U, but I'll go with your advice and download it on my Wii as I really only have one classic controller. I often have my friends visit so it's always a plus to add more multiplayer games for everybody to play.
@absuplendous Perhaps there were other issues to be resolved like shipping and handling
@Iggly There ya go! Sounds like a good idea.
I kind of expected more since they took all the stuff down for a few days
@BinaryFragger I think he's talking about the already redeemed coins.
I already own Super Metroid. I already own Kirby's Adventure 3D Classics. And I'm not a fan of buying Wii VC games for my Wii U, especially since I'd have to use a Classic Controller Pro and if I'm doing that, I might as well play the game on my Wii since I already own Mario Kart 64 on it.
Haha, if you click on Mario Kart 64 on Club Nintendo, they quote Nintendo Life...
I been considering the 3D Classic Kirby Adventure since I started up Kirby Triple Deluxe. Sold!
I went with Super Metroid this time. I made a good choice. :3
I only ever spend the coins on physical items. As I can't really get the physical items anyway but through club Nintendo, where as I can buy the games any time I want if I really want them.
So, why exactly was the shop shut down for so long?
Looks the same to me.
@AVahne
usually right before the end of June.
Meh.
Is Mario Kart 64 playable on the WiiU directly, or is it only through WiiMode?
Brain Age... because that's the only title I didn't already buy.
After playing NES Remix 2, definetly Kirby!
Nothing for me now, but I'm glad the yoshi shirts are back in stock
What would you choose when you can't join that %@?# club? To ?!#@ with Club Nintendo. I'm seriously starting to question Nintendo after the new user agreements for the 3DS, I don't need to be reminded that Norway don't get to join Club Nintendo, we just get increased prizes. Seriously, Nintendo games are like 50% more than all other games here. They need to care for their older players asap. The consoles are so child friendly that it's a struggle to have fun. They pull another cheap shot the second you find something enjoyable.
Nothing interesting for me this time since I already own most of these games. Not a bad selection though!
I want mariokart 64, but I don't have a pro controller.
I voted for Brain Age cause I use to own it on my og dsi. Good times from what I can remember. Lost it though when I updated to the 3ds. Might just save my points for next months update.
And of course the Super Mario t shirt is still only available in a size for 7 year olds.
For once can they have games that I don't already own. I mean what is the point.
Wow I can get that cheesy looking Yoshi shirt. Ohhhh. Sorry for being negative but it looks like the same old stuff. I got my hopes a little up. What is going to suck is I have all these points and I won't be able to use them. A Yoshi shirt really. A Pickmin tote. These are my choices. @&$$)(((;; ( curse word )!!
I got the 3D Classics and holy crap no lag!
The most nostalgic and challenging Kirby game I ever played. For once, I'd say that's an ultimate must-have for me, specially because of the 3D. Worth every single coin!
@catsrnice That' the ultimate Kirby's Adventure edition. Different from other VC titles, this one is very polished and optimized.
@JakeShapiro 3DS version is superior, and it's not exactly a home console standard. Stages are short and you get a save after beating each. Also, 3D effect is unique...
Hahaha... And for a second, I REALLY thought we might actually get some cool new physical merchandise here in NA... Nope. In a word "@ss".
Games are getting more expensive. Mario Party 2, an N64 game, costed 150 coins when it was made available as a prize (February 2012. I know, I grabbed it). Fast forward to today, two years and some change later, Mario Kart 64 costs 250. I know there's the argument that they've added Wii U support for some games (NES, SNES), supporting an "added value" argument, but that doesn't cover N64 games, ergo not justifying an increase in price.
I know Nintendo is a business, ergo they are at liberty to charge what they feel is a reasonable price (supply and demand, et cetera), but I couldn't help but notice this upward trend...
For those interested, here's a more comprehensive (albeit incomplete) history of the program, pricing included:

Yes, there are no new physical items added. However, they restock the ACNL Poster Set, 3DS Pouch Mario Edition, and Yoshi's New Island T-Shirt.
Hopefully, they will soon add Mario Kart related swag like T-Shirt or Figurine (to make up for the lacklaster pre-order bonus).
@MrCanzine
yep, they should just move it to the Wii U virtual console, I would get it if I could play it with pro controller or the gamepad.
That Yoshi's New Island shirt's looking quite georgeous i must say.
If I knew that Super Metroid was coming, I wouldn't have downloaded it a month ago to help me through the Wii U drought. :/
What I can't understand, however, is why they expect me to boot Wii mode and use Wii controls to play Mario Kart 64. Very lame.
Never played Super Metroid, so this is a good opportunity to experience this classic.
Never played Mario Kart 64 either, but since I already own Mario Kart 7 and will soon own Mario Kart 8, I don't see any reason to waste coins on an inferior game.
I was very disappointed to fire up the rewards website and see absolutely no new physical items. What was the point in temporarily shutting it down? At this point I'm not interested in DSware or Wii only content. I know that I can still play these games, I'm just not going to do it. So I'll most likely pick up both cases and be done with it.
@Geonjaha Well, I live in Brazil, so I can't get games either. Except I can... if you know what I mean. Google is your friend.
EDIT: It just occurred to me that European games probably don't come with a Club Nintendo code. That's too bad. At least in South America we get American games, so we can work around the restrictions.
@ricklongo - EU games do come with their own code, it just only works for the EU Club Nintendo, and vice versa.
@MrCanzine Now that would be one great update.
They should add EarthBound to the rewards. I think it would be a good way to let people see were Ness came from.
Have all of these but Brain Age but already have 2 Brain Age games.
i got 660 points...c'mon platinum
How have they not made snes games available for 3ds yet?
@Geonjaha How about: It sucks I can´t get any of them. But I hope they will offer VC games as rewards one day
We didnt get the Snes controller or the gold nunchuk or anything that´s worth getting.
They offer one or two cool items a year that go sold out in minutes. It is funny to see how people in the states complain about their rewards when these come up...
I spent most of my points on buying the game Cartridge cases for the 3DS games I got 4 of those but was able to get Kirby's adventure with a few points I had left. Played through 5 levels yesterday and was very impressed even though it seemed really easy. First time I've ever played a Kirby game. Really nice 3D Classic!
Have you guys also noticed that the point value went up as well? Weren't 16-bit games at 150 just earlier this year?
More "expensive" freebies + surveys with lesser coin return = Nintendo is wising up
@Mrclaycoat I just got five wii/Ds Nintendo points card last week , from EBGames. I live in Canada , Toronto
Have all of these games...No thanks
@Dudemario89 May I ask which one? I'm in Toronto as well
Why no Hanafuda decks?
A Question:
Can someone tell me if I can also get Super Metroid for my old Wii with the points? Or is this no longer possible for the games that got converted to the Wii U.
I don't got a U.
