JakeShapiro commented on Talking Point: Nintendo Should Beware the Slip...:

I'm surprised how few of the commenters here seem to be bothered by the sponsored DLC. Pikmin 2 featured brilliant product placement because it fit the tone of the game, but that may be the exception, not the rule. Pikmin was in a way poking fun at our consumerism with its humorous name-brand items, but the Mercedes in Mario Kart doesn't fit the over-the-top tone of the game at all and just seems to be shameless sponsorship. I'm hugely disappointed in Nintendo.

JakeShapiro commented on Interview: Console Wars Author Blake J. Harris...:

@retro_player_22 If you read the book, that's not true. SOJ created the CD and 32X as well. They launched the 32X because the Genesis had already been out much longer in Japan than in North America and Europe, so it was an older console that needed an update. The Genesis was released later in the West so the 32X was seen by Westerners as more of a rushed add-on.

JakeShapiro commented on New Ace Attorney Title to Take Place in the Past:

I'm right in the middle of playing Dual Destinies, so this makes me really excited. I've always thought it was strange that the localizations of the Ace Attorney games pretend that the characters are Westerners, since they talk about Japan as if it were a foreign country. It'll be interesting to see how they handle this ancient Japan concept.

@shigulicious I don't know what you're talking about! For months I've been begging Darren, "Let me review My First Songs, it's the entire reason I got into the game critic business!"

@AndyM4x Here at Nintendo Life we pride ourselves on reviewing every single game released for Nintendo consoles. That includes My First Songs.

@Cathousemaster Those fixes would be great! As the commenter above me said, this level of interaction between players and the dev team is something I wish more companies in the industry would adopt. I'm saddened to hear Flowerworks HD may be your last game if it doesn't perform well enough. I hope that's not the case.

@Cathousemaster Michael, thanks so much for the thorough and thoughtful response. I know you guys are a small team, so I was a bit nervous about being so negative in my review. I hope you can see there was a lot I still enjoyed about the game; I look forward to whatever Nocturnal puts out next!

JakeShapiro commented on Poll: Have Your Say on Nintendo Direct Bonanza...:

All these people voting for live presentations are forgetting all the streaming issues Nintendo has had the past few years. If it's prerecorded, it's edited perfectly and everything works like it's supposed to. I'll take that.
