Mario: Cat Mario, 30th Anniversary Mario (all colors)
Peach: Cat Peach
Link: Zelda (Super Smash Bros. series), Sheik, Ganondorf (Super Smash Bros. series), Young Link (Super Smash Bros. series), every Legend of Zelda series amiibo (brown and crest base)
Kirby: King Dedede (Super Smash Bros. series) Meta Knight (Super Smash Bros. series), every Kirby series amiibo (blue and stars base)
Samus: Ridley, Dark Samus, every Metroid series amiibo (blue and metal base)
Pikmin: Pikmin (brown and grass base)
Animal Crossing: Isabelle (Super Smash Bros. series)
Mega Man: Mega Man (Mega Man series) (black and 30th base)
Splatoon: Inkling (Super Smash Bros. series), every Splatoon series amiibo (black and ink base)
I asume everyone of them apply only to the Switch version, since the list was accurate as of the last update to the Wii U version (except for the part of both 30th Anniversary Mario colors working)
EDIT: No, Mario Sports Superstars amiibo cards and Delicious amiibo (Mario cereal) are not compatible
Im not an "internet guy" so right now, out ofe the top of my mind, I dont know anywhere else to comunicate this.
EDIT: Also, I am finishing my eshop purchases, and it turns out some games had a permanent (which is why they are not in the sales section) price drop this last couple days. The Swindle on Wii U and 6180 the Moon on 3DS, just to name a few
Yes those are the new free themes, plus around the first days of March a bundle for Gurumin themes also became free. Im not sure of its still free because after buying or claiming themes their price (or free status) isnt displayed anymore.
A couple of 3DS themes are FREE to download now, but they are not under the free section, you have to scroll down to View More and then go to the bottom once more to All Themes.
I have been checking most days and they werent free a couple days ago, I hope you can get them on time
First, fix the missing characters:
Diddy, D.K. Jr, Funky and R.O.B.
Then UNIQUE and MEANINGFUL newcomers:
Dixie, Kamek/Kammy/Kamella, Nabbit and Pauline
Obscure but original characters (Stanley, Wart, Tatanga, C. Syrup, other Kongs, K. Rool, Geno, E. Gadd, Toadsworth, Il Piantíssimo, Prince Peasley, Fawful, Mona) or random guys from species not previously featured (Dr. Mario viruses, Bandineros, Kremlings, penguins, Noki, Piantas, Beanishes, Lumas, Tostarenans, Lochladies, Shiverians, Bubblainians, Volbonians) would also be OK, but the 2 catergories above are top priority.
Once we got all of that covered, Nintendo can make up as many metal, dress, power-up, baby variants, (which should all be mere palette swaps) generic basic species (moles, koopas, toads) and nonsense ugly crossovers as they wish.
But since we are talking about the company that pulled out Pink Gold Peach and babies out of nowhere, and stuffed Smash Bros with random pokemon, they will probably do it the opposite way.
EDIT: I would be kind of OK with Paratroopa, Petey, Wiggler and Honey Queen, since they are returning characters, but they are still random generic basic characters (kind of like adding a regular goomba or mouser) that should leave their spot for the top 2 priorities mentioned earlier.
Worst Mario game: Super Mario 3D World. Its the only one that doesn't use the full extent of its original console's capabilites and it is just short and feels limited in pretty much every aspect of the game.
Worst Zelda game: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. It just feels like one of those generic Ubisoft games, a big mostly empty world with not enough variety in dungeons and enemies... and a general lack of structure, direction and/or purpose. Nintendo's first attempt at TWO overly expensive limited editions, 4 amiibo figures and the first DLC in a Zelda game (again, a la Ubisoft) coupled with the launch of the console itself... it was just unbearable.
Instead of a new game, just wait a couple years and update Ultimate with "break the targets" a 3rd fighters pass (third party fighters) a 4th fighters pass (Nintendo) and an update to World of Light adding areas with the every DLC fighter and spirit.
That way it builds upon the previous work, instead of throwing it away, and we also round off the game with 100 characters, and no one really left out. 3rd party: Prince of Persia, Ryu Hayabusa, Scorpion, Geno, Jonesy. Nintendo: Dixie Kong, Impa, Sylux, Krystal, Adeline, Porky Minch, Octolings... even Waluigi if people really want.
I don't want an inferior version with a "different approach", cut characters and modes just for the sake of having a new game, thats one of the reasons many of us rate Smash 4 as the worst in the series, it feels like the alpha version of Ultimate.

Generations: 2 > 1 > 3 > 4 > 8 > 6 > 5 > 7
This objectively the best rank possible for anyone expecting the full experience and content of a game. But I kind of agree with the overall user ranking having Gold and Silver in some way at the top, Yellow slightly behind and sun and moon near the bottom. However generation 8 should be in the middle, (and the top of recent games) I get that at least graphically they are rushed games, even unfinished, and I was also disappointed for the full pokedex behind paid DLC, but they have done that in the shape of third versions or direct sequels since generarion 3. And they sort of put a remedy to most of the modern entries problems; mints, no website link exclusives, gyms are back, most legendaries available ingame, grinding is somewhat easier. The only trends they made worse were limited time events with raid events on top of mystery gifts, and last gen paid services, now adding switch online membership.
Best of gen 8: wild area, raids, curry and gigantamax
Worst E3 for Nintendo Ive ever seen, and Ive watched all of them, just game footage, no actual info or comments other than 3rd parties. The only thing that got me excited like the old days was Metroid Prime 4... and they can always screw it up, as is the norm in recent times (MK8 roster, Smash with no story or break tagets, StarFox controls, Zelda day one DLC, Paid online on switch because of gimmicks, etc)
I am living in Mexico, here I've seen prices on preorders go up to 500 USD for the console alone, 70 USD for the cheapest and most pointless switch games nobody will buy (1,2,Switch), and accessories around the same price. If limited editions of Zelda will even arrive here, I don't want to imagine the price... Oh I almost forgot, 4 or 5 new amiibo to pay for on that same day.
Based on what we've seen, we'd need at the very least the charging joycon grip and maybe the pro controller... probably waiting for extra joycons and wheels in game bundles is a much better idea than buying them at launch day.
Needless to say, if those prices are confirmed, this may very well be the little extra push I needed to tip me over the fence of retiring as a Nintendo gamer... at least from the coming games, I could still play and collect classic Nintendo games.
So that in a couple months of regular use the paint peels off like all of my other 3DS (save for ther original model) and you can sell me another one next year? No, thanks. Back in my days the selling point of portables was quality, contrary to its short life these days.
At least on my black New 3DSXL the parts where that cheap paint chipped off doesnt look that bad, I cant imagine my anger if I'd got another color, or worse, a limited edition.
Maybe the the game boy versions as 3D (3DS) or HD (mobile) game collections, I mean they were already portable and small enough, I dont really see the point for a hardware release on this ones.
There is much more ways the games could use amiibo, I understand some users dont want a game where amiibo is needed to get the full experience, but its not very different from the overpriced DLC in some games like Smash. If it were possible d rather buy the corresponding amiibo to unlock all characters, instead of pay a ridiculous ammount for all of the digital unlock, ideally the game should be complete when I buy it, but thats a different topic for another discussion.
However my main complain is not being able to save data for more than one game to an amiibo, at this point in time theres no reason for that, even if it were impossible for a figure to hold data for many games they could save it to the save file of the game on the console, or desing an app for storing and managing multiple piecces of amiibo data.
I answered I decide on a game by game basis, but up to now I actually own every single amiibo, except for Animal Crossing wave 2 and 3 figures and all cards. But yes Im also skipping Monster hunter amiibo, unless they get heavily discounted at some point, like AC wave 1 did recently where I live, from 350 to 25 MXN a piece (slightly above 1 USD)
@Ventilator Yes, Ive seen EU versions of the game online, I wish the console wasnt region locked. I think I also saw the boxed version for other platforms (not sure in what region), but Im a 100% Nintendo gamer and personally I prefer to play all of my games on Nintendo consoles. So yes, I hope a Wii U disc version for America is still on its way to retailers all over the continent.
I havent seen it anywhere at retail, and the only one I see online is for Europe, does/will the announced american version for retail even exist? Im asking mainly about Mexico City, Mexico (where Im living now) but Im sure many US Canadian Wii U owners might also want to know about it. I dont really mind the price tag
The description of the theme doesnt show an expiration date, is it just me, or it shows up like that for everyone?
If it really has no expiration date, Id rather save my coins for other prizes Im interested, I will wait to get this theme after I get the other things that actually expire.
Super Paper Mario for Wii has a special place in my heart, it inspired me to start studying astrrophysics, quantum physics and math by myself when I got to world 6 and started wondering if what happened there could actually somehow happen in real life. Without it, I probably wouldnt have developed my own cosmogony
It seems Sakurai takes it as a challenge every time I say he has made a mess and delivered the worst possible experience in Smash WiiU, and he keeps on smashing my expectations (for bad) with every new update and DLC.
K Rool as costume? Im really glad I gave up gaming for the foreseeable future.
@ollibald Will disc version make it outside of the US? Im asking mainly about Mexico City, Mexico (where Im living now) but Im sure Canadian gamers might also want to know it itll also be for sale there. I dont really mind the price tag
If anyone that got a code for this and didnt liked the costume, or for any reason hasnt redeemed his code, could trade it for other club nintendo codes, just give it away, or let me kow of another way to get this DLC Id really appreciate it.
I was really interested in this game, but I havent seen this game at retailers, as they promised. Has this game even been released in North America at retail?
There's still stock for Bowser and Link, and Mario has been restocked like all the time, has 3 variants, barely leaves the shelves and is often on sale because of that. Why not focus on the scarce amiibos? I'm still missing Ike Dedede and Lucario, and many people are missing other amiibos, but not Mario and Link
I'll always prefer to play classic games on their original consoles, I'll only get one of the existing VC games on current platforms I own physically if I get them free (like club.nintendo used to do) or VERY cheap (like the 30 cents promotion).
The only reason for me to get a VC version of a game would be for the ones I dont own its original console, like import games and non-Nintendo consoles, but both of these categories were dropped. So the closest I'll be to get a VC game, let alone pay a monthly fee service, is with games like NES Remix or Amiibo tap.
On Wii I paid for 12 VC games from Arcade, non-Nintendo consoles and imports and on 3DS I paid for 3 VC games. Thats not a lot, but for Wii U I have paid for 0 games on VC since those categories are not supported (only got CN freebies)
200cc is unplayable in many tracks if you aim for 1st against CPU. As for DLC, I would have rated Cheese Land as the best track, but where are the mousers, the moon and night setting from the original? ... and dont get me started with this character crossover nonsense, where are Diddy, B Jr, Dry bones and Birdo?
More characters, but with Mario Kart related (like Kongs, Birdo and Bowser Jr.) or at least from Super Mario series, please stop the crossover nonsense... at least until the Mario characters are out there. Next would be Challenges and Battle stages and lastly I wouldnt mind more tracks once all of the other things are out.
The only thing I dont like about this DLC packs, is that characters from other series are being introduced, while there are still a lot of Mario series characters missing (some of them Mario Kart favorites) and we are left with those non-sense clones from the horrible initial roster. If a 3rd DLC pack fixes that, welcome.
Yes, apparently it was more important to have lots of random pokemon and clones that nobody asked for, instead of having some actual NEWcomers and diversity of franchises (Takamaru, Dixie, King K. Rool, Krystal, S. Goroh, etc)
@dAviD7 Well, its a matter of definitions, but discussing that is beside my point. Why is Nintendo of America bothering to restrict access to a download (already published) to only one of the 3 countries with eShop service in their region?
At the time im posting this. sadly its not available in ALL of North America. if for any reason you have your NNID set to Mexico, you cant redeem the DL code
@minotaurgamer @OniLink Same here, it took some hours before I could redeem the special Smash demo, but it was made available later... I hope this will be the case for Flipnote. I could email Nintendo customer service, but last time I did that they closed my account saying club.nintendo is only for US and Canada and it was very difficult to get it back again (I currently live in Mexico but I also have US residence). If it isnt made available soon, Im thinking this Feb 13th I can set my new 3DS to US, use my code there without NNID so I change region to Mexico and then do the system transfer, and Ill see if I can download it form my account activity/titles downloaded on the new 3DS now with my mexican NNID.
I dont decide buying (or not) a game based solely on the score, it isnt even one of the most important things for me, I base my purchasing decisions primarly on the content of the review and more often on gameplay videos. But its really useful to have an early idea of what to buy when looking at a platform list of games, also the more scores the healthier (useful) and fairer the metacritic system will be, so I definetly think game reviews need to have a score.
I hope the 32GB SanDisk Ultra I bought will work fine, I read about people with problems with it. Anyone with this on their 3DS who can tell how it works?
I have one unused MH4 demo code left, I'll trade it for the 2 codes that give 100 potions each, that came in the Pokemon ORAS bestbuy/amazon bundle (I can also offer unused diancie codes). Asking for american codes, offering american codes. If interested hurry, Im on my last MH4 code,.Quote me or mail to: tripunktoj (at) hotmail if you want to trade.
I dont mind surveys if they are short (5 questions or less) I think its the only way we have to directly communicate our own personal opinion to Nintendo and actually be listened. The only thing I really want from the new rewards programme is to be able to recieve physical rewards in Mexico and Latin America, where I currently live, and that it continues offering free digital games.
People are still hyped for Smash Wii U, but if you look at the limitations, trends and oportunities at the time each one was released, its actually the worst... by far. The best would be Melee for competitive players and Brawl for lone wolves.
For me its: Brawl 9.5/10 > Melee 9 > N64 8 > 3DS 7 > WiiU 6
There are a couple things I like about this game, even when it sadly wasnt the near perfect "must have" game we all expected for a Smash Bros, I agree with some of them on the video but... The 8 player battles just arent playable, they might be a little fun and interesting, but I can barely keep track of where I am on my 50" full HD screen and Mario Party intending to take the place of a proper single player adventure/campaign/story (smash tour) just doesnt go well with my Smash (the same can be said for turning break the targets into angry birds)
I hope so, his decisions in the latest games were horrible:
-Removing adventure/story mode and cutscenes.
-Transforming "Break the tragets" challenges into an Angry Birds clone.
-A roster filled with clones and random pokémon instead of more newcomers.
I admit there are a couple things I liked in the latest entries, they are still a good game, but it isnt even close to the perfect game we all expect for a Smash Bros.

Re: The New Update For Teslagrad is Now Live in North America
I was really interested in this game, but I havent seen this game at retailers, as they promised. Has this game even been released in North America at retail?
Re: Updated Documents Point to Multiple amiibo Restocks for North America
There's still stock for Bowser and Link, and Mario has been restocked like all the time, has 3 variants, barely leaves the shelves and is often on sale because of that. Why not focus on the scarce amiibos? I'm still missing Ike Dedede and Lucario, and many people are missing other amiibos, but not Mario and Link
Re: Nintendo Download: 30th April (North America)
I think this week's 3DS theme being free should be highlited.
Re: Poll: Is It Time For a Fresh Alternative to the Virtual Console?
Re: Poll: With Races Won and Cups Collected, How Do You Rate Mario Kart 8's DLC Pack 2?
200cc is unplayable in many tracks if you aim for 1st against CPU. As for DLC, I would have rated Cheese Land as the best track, but where are the mousers, the moon and night setting from the original? ... and dont get me started with this character crossover nonsense, where are Diddy, B Jr, Dry bones and Birdo?
Re: Talking Point: Mario Kart 8 DLC is a Winning Formula for Nintendo, But It Can Go Further
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th April (North America)
Will North America also get the StreetPass weekend free 3DS theme too?
Re: Poll: What Are You Most Excited About in the Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 2?
The only thing I dont like about this DLC packs, is that characters from other series are being introduced, while there are still a lot of Mario series characters missing (some of them Mario Kart favorites) and we are left with those non-sense clones from the horrible initial roster. If a 3rd DLC pack fixes that, welcome.
Re: Nintendo of Japan Confirms the Tracks in the Upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC
Cheese Land and Ribbon Road!!! AND Big Blue!
I'm the happiest man on Earth...
This ALMOST makes up for the horrible roster.
Re: Mysterious Murasame Castle's Takamaru Was Considered For Super Smash Bros.
Yes, apparently it was more important to have lots of random pokemon and clones that nobody asked for, instead of having some actual NEWcomers and diversity of franchises (Takamaru, Dixie, King K. Rool, Krystal, S. Goroh, etc)
Re: F-Zero: GP Legend Rated For North America Wii U Virtual Console
Best GBA racing game ever!
Re: Review: Flipnote Studio 3D (3DS eShop)
@dAviD7 Well, its a matter of definitions, but discussing that is beside my point. Why is Nintendo of America bothering to restrict access to a download (already published) to only one of the 3 countries with eShop service in their region?
Re: Review: Flipnote Studio 3D (3DS eShop)
At the time im posting this. sadly its not available in ALL of North America. if for any reason you have your NNID set to Mexico, you cant redeem the DL code
Re: Flipnote Studio 3D Now Available To North American Club Nintendo Members
Re: Poll: Do Video Game Reviews Need To Have A Score?
I dont decide buying (or not) a game based solely on the score, it isnt even one of the most important things for me, I base my purchasing decisions primarly on the content of the review and more often on gameplay videos. But its really useful to have an early idea of what to buy when looking at a platform list of games, also the more scores the healthier (useful) and fairer the metacritic system will be, so I definetly think game reviews need to have a score.
Re: Nintendo Lists Formally Tested Micro SDHC Cards for the New Nintendo 3DS
I hope the 32GB SanDisk Ultra I bought will work fine, I read about people with problems with it. Anyone with this on their 3DS who can tell how it works?
Re: Poll: Which Current Generation Nintendo Soundtracks Would You Buy?
Id rather use that money for games, but I wouldnt complain if I get them as gifts
Re: Video: New Nintendo 3DS and XL Batteries Put to the Test in a Family Showdown
Love his cat!
Re: Nintendo of America Issues a Fresh Batch of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Demo Codes
Re: Talking Point: Club Nintendo's Closure Is An Exciting Opportunity To Modernise Fan Rewards
Re: Hyrule Warriors DLC Costume Sets Now Available to Buy on the eShop
All of them are up in North America now!
Re: Poll: Which is the Best Super Smash Bros. Game?
People are still hyped for Smash Wii U, but if you look at the limitations, trends and oportunities at the time each one was released, its actually the worst... by far. The best would be Melee for competitive players and Brawl for lone wolves.
For me its: Brawl 9.5/10 > Melee 9 > N64 8 > 3DS 7 > WiiU 6
Re: Video: Top 5 Things We Love About Smash Bros. For Wii U
Re: Masahiro Sakurai Admits That Super Smash Bros. for Wii U May Be His Last in the Series
Re: Video: Nintendo's Wii U Holiday Commercial Keeps It In The Family
Anyone else noticed the WiiU console isnt actually powered on? (red power LED)
Re: Video: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Opening Cinematic Revealed
Yet another SSB4 disappointment here...
