Re: Surprise! Football Manager 2019 Touch Has Just Launched On Nintendo Switch

shani

Nice!
I'll stick with FM19 on PC for now though, sadly the PC version of the game is still vastly superior.

@Mountain_Man
Did you know the creators of Out of the Park actually learned their craft (yes, the series existed before, but wasn't on the same level) from Sports Interactive - the FM creators - while they were part of SI?
As a FM player, it becomes immediately obvious when I first saw a friend play OOTP. There are lots of similarities.
So maybe you should check out FM instead.

@Tullochard The text was fine and readable in FMT18.
Besides, just like in any FM game, you can scale the UI to your liking.

Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Is Taking To The Skies On Switch

shani

Please let it be an HD remaster!
I'd buy this game again instantly.

Edit: Just seeing the comments above, IMHO playing Skyward Sword without motion controls makes no sense. It would take too much away from this exceptional game.
All of the battles against Ghirahim would become pointless and boring, for example.

No, motion controls have to be mandatory in SS, there's no way around it.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Wants Players To Decide How Breath Of The Wild Connects To Existing Zelda Timeline

shani

Usually I would oppose this, but I know exactly what Aonuma means.

When I ride past the ruins of Lon-Lon ranch, it evokes the memories I had while playing OoT, while other parts might evoke memories I have from Skyward Sword.
It's all very personal and depends on which games you've played and which of those you liked. Not necessarily on those games that would make sense regarding the timeline.

BotW is full of conflicting references to all kinds of Zelda games from different timelines, meaning it can't possible bring all of those together in a comprehensible, logical way, without any contradictions.
So the only thing that makes sense is: BotW exists in a parallel universe. Outside of the official timeline.
That's the only explanation for it referencing all kinds of games from different timelines (in the main universe) with no connection to each other.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Service Had A "Good" Launch, Focus Will Now Shift To Boosting Its Appeal

shani

Here's a way to boost its appeal: make it for free!

Nintendo really shot themselves in the foot with NSO. The player base in Splatoon 2 for example shrunk noticeably after the introduction of NSO. It's hurting Nintendo's online games while having no negative effect on games like Fortnite (if anything, Fortnite benefited from it).

Playing online should just be for free, period. They could call that the free plan and add a paid plan that includes all those retro games.

Re: Video: Fixing The Bluetooth Headphone Blues on Switch

shani

Yeah I got one of these about a month ago and it works like a charm!

@G0dlike Nope, Genki is the clone. This one has been around for a while now (earliest reviews on Amazon are from July) while Genki isn't even released yet. And Genki is way more expensive.

Also, Genki charges extra for a USB adapter for the Dock.
And Genki doesn't work with the Hori stand.

Re: Nintendo Secures More Smartphone Trademarks, This Time For Zelda: Twilight Princess And Wii Sports Resort

shani

I don't play any games on my smartphone, simply because I don't think it's the right medium (screen too small, no buttons) and because I don't enjoy playing on the go for 1 ½ minutes.
But if Nintendo do it right - with the IP and great backlog they have - they could deliver truly unique and awesome mobile games (not something shallow like Mario Run) that would become bestsellers.
I certainly wouldn't play them, but I can see that happen.
It would hurt the Switch though, so I really wish they hadn't abandoned stationary consoles.

@impurekind The same way you did in the original, with motion controls. Or have you forgotten that smartphones have a built-in motion sensor (guess where the inspiration for that came from)? Your smartphone is basically a Wiimote with a different form factor.

Re: The Power Glove Was "Way Ahead Of Its Time" According To One Of The Men Behind It

shani

Wow, I didn't know about their original plans. Sounds quite ambitious to me, so I'd say it (not the Powerglove, the whole VR project) was definitely ahead of its time.

Even I as a strict form-follows-function guy have to say, it's definitely the most stylish gaming accessory ever created!
Would love to see something similar for current VR hardware. Then again, current VR controllers are already pretty amazing, so maybe there's no need for a glove.

Funny how several people here didn't even read the article and still think it was made by Nintendo... 🙄
