Assassin's Creed Odyssey might be accessible to Nintendo Switch owners located in Japan via cloud technology, but here in the west, it's not really possible due to the current internet infrastructure. It essentially leaves anyone who wants to play Ubisoft's popular series on the Switch locally with no other options.
That could all be changing very soon, though. According to a new listing by German retailer MediaMarkt, the Switch and multiple other platforms will be receiving the Assassin's Creed Compilation on 29th March 2019 for €39.99. There is no information about what games this compilation contains, and at this point in time, Ubisoft has made no official announcement.
What do you make of this listing? Would you be interested in playing a compilation of Assassin's Creed titles on the Nintendo Switch? Would you rather Odyssey? Tell us below.

As long as I don't I have to maintain a constant Internet connection, I'll be down for that.
Probably in the November Direct along with the N64 Classic. Maybe Sakurai will finally explain how Kirby was the only character technically possible and everything else had one too many polygons to be playable.
This is a leap of faith that I can get behind (If true). I've enjoyed the three AC games that I've played and have finished two of them.
I call fake but I would be happy to see Altair on the rooftops again.
Compilation or streaming compilation?
Seriously, last-generation games are perfectly playable on Switch.
Screw streaming
@Tyranexx I have played Assassin's Creed on X and loved it. I have many others to play too.
@John_Koshiro I think the Switch is more than capable of running the first few games without any cloud support. Odyssey requires a constant internet connection because the Switch can't handle it by itself; same with RE7.
@Mrtoad See, I feel like I"m in the minority on this, but I think I'd prefer a Game Boy Classic before an N64 Classic.
I’m hoping it’s not just the side scrollers and it’s the legit, main entires.
Given the recent partnerships between Ubisoft and Nintendo, I could definitely see this happening. Just wouldn’t expect anything more than the numbered entries with large downloads.
Sure... uh huh
I believe it when I see it
Believe it when I see it. Would be hard to not jump in on that but I doubt this is true. A lot of work and optimization would be needed. If true I would assume only the last gen games.
@Qwertyninty I think they can do it at 720p 30fps kinda like warframe
@CarsonCool If panic button is handling these ports then they have a chance.
The first game is extremely flawed and repetitive with many elements that break immersion. The second and third entries would be alright I guess. I mean the 3rd game and Black Flag already came out on WiiU so it’s not a big stretch.
If it’s like the ezio trilogy, cool. Though I’d get behind another go at Rogue
@BlueOcean: I played 2/3 of the first one on a cousin's Xbox 360 a few years ago; I liked it but never got to finish it as I'm not at their place much anymore. I frequently played it and a little of TES IV: Oblivion when I would house-sit for them when they were on vacation.
The ones I've finished were Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, both on the Wii U. I liked the former but had issues with it crashing on occasion. In comparison, I really loved Black Flag and went crazy pillaging ships, taking out bases, and upgrading my own wonderful monster ship.
Also, some of those sea shanties are STILL stuck in my head.
Do we think these shops just like messing with us now? Like so they so just drive up site visits
@Tyranexx Yeah I still think Black Flag is the best, mainly because there really isn’t another game like it. The other games formulas have since been improved upon by countless other games.
It's not a big stretch of the imagination. The Ezio trilogy was released for PS4/XB1, and Nintendo has a good relationship with Ubisoft. I don't see why the Switch couldn't have a shot at getting that release.
If it's something different (like a new compilation collection), I could see AC3, AC4 and Liberation/Rogue getting an all-in-one re-release. I mean "The Americas Collection" did come out on last gen systems, so it could just be a simple repackaging of that release for PS4/XB1/Switch.
@Tyranexx Cool. I should play The Ezio Collection next but III and IV will come after. I bought IV for Wii U but sold it and bought the Xbox One version soon after. I was bothered by the frame rate in AC IV on Wii U during the first hour but I don't know if it's always like that.
Id probably purchase it. I've only beaten a couple of the games in the series.
I love the idea of an Assassin's Creed collection but I hope that all of them are on the cartridge complete and not just a few of them with the other half being downloadable only.
Day 1 purchase for me
@NotTelevision: I agree! I didn't expect to like sailing much in Black Flag since I wasn't that fond of it in III, but they really went out of their way to improve things.
@BlueOcean: I'm normally not bothered by stuff like frame rate unless it completely tanks to almost nothing. I had some occasional drops with Black Flag, but nothing too drastic. III, on the other hand....Well, again, I had multiple issues with it. I even created a topic back when I was playing it to voice some of my concerns. I suspect many of the issues stemmed from the game trying to connect to Ubi's servers since I accidentally OK'd it at one point.
No idea why I would play old AC the same month Sekiro comes out. Basically same crazy as 2018
I have access to every old AC on PC, not cared to buy and re-live any of them. Being able to play them on the bus not changing that
It’s assassin creed chronicles DUH ! Not the main games for sure
Seeing as how the Switch can run games like Doom or Wolfenstein 2, all of the Assassin's Creed games in exception of Unity, Syndicate, etc. can run well if they are tweaked correctly.
I don't see this rumour being far-fetched or something like that.
We just need confirmation.
A collection of the first few games on Switch would be pretty cool. Though I've always been very bad at them.
Surprised they haven't put Beyond Good & Evil HD on the Switch, since the GameCube was one of the bigger sellers (for as much as BG&E sold, anyway) of that game back in its day.
I would be down for this! I have 3 and 4 on Wii U and enjoyed what I played, but never came close to finishing them.
@Tyranexx Disconnect from the network is one of the things that improve performance in some Ubisoft games. I remember Digital Foundry mentioning this on their AC Unity analysis. Ubisoft seems to spend all the money on development and not testers. It must be difficult to test every scenario in open-world games. Rayman Legends on Wii U is flawless. Fortunately, this generation they can patch games. Interesting thread.
I’ve never played an AC game, so why not?
if this is true, then that's great for people who wants these games.
Ezio for Smash
just gave me assassin creed 4 black flag for switch then ill be happy love that game way better then the 3rd one.
Please be the good ones, please be the good ones. AC: Unity is not one of them, we don't want the invisible head syndrome!
@mikegamer Assassin's Creed Unity Patched Edition is good though.
@Qwertyninty I feel like the developers should learn the switch and not always rely on panic button for porting and even building a game from the ground up on the switch. Panic button can't work on every single game you know. We have seen some nice 3rd party games that panic button didn't work on.
@BlueOcean: I recall trying to game offline, but that didn't solve everything either. I'm guessing I either had a dud copy (disk was in decent condition) or just bad luck. XD
I'm not interested if it's just the Ezio collection. Got those games already.
About freaking time!
I hope Im wrong, but its probably the 2.5D games. China, India, Russia. Forget the name, but its been sold as a comp before.
@PhilKenSebben I believe it's called Chronicles and it's a safe bet that it'll probably be those.
I tried a good 4 episodes of the main series back in the days, and almost died of boredom -never bought 1 as my best friend is well into the saga and loves them, so I got my chance to play them- but anyway would be interesting for people who is new to this franchise.
Considering Skull and Bones is taking forever and probably won't be as great, I....kinda want to give Black Flag another try. I dunno, I feel like once I start playing it I'll get bored again like with any other open world game...
I loved ACIV Black Flag and if this compilation includes Assassin Creed II then I would love get it in the future.
I’ve never played any of them, and I honestly can’t see that changing regardless of availability. I just have no interest in this franchise.
Gimme a new Rayman, Ubi.
This would be nice if it’s true. I enjoyed the heck out of III on Wii U and would love to see it and Black Flag come to Switch as well.
Well if Mediamarkt are putting it in their shop, it's probably genuine.
For someone like me who hasn't played AC since the first game, such a compilation for 40€ sounds actually enticing.
@CarsonCool there are about 4 good third party port devs but PB are the best for sure.
@Mrtoad Do you think Star Fox Grand Prix will be in the November Direct, too?
I imagine it’s just a port of the Ezio Collection, not a bad thing in itself.
The first AC has not aged well at all but AC2 is as good as it ever was.
@Joeynator3000 black flags is worth getting sailing the seas sinking and boarding enemy ships and looting them for money and supplies plus upgrading you re ship really good game.
Hmm. I'm inclined to think this is real. This was rumoured during the NX days. Probably both the Wii U games if anything but the originals would be nice. Not too sure how they would fit on a card though.
@roboshort Yep, it’ll have that and everything we have ever wanted. At least that’s what the purple haired dude told me. The November Direct should come any day now...
@PrincessBowsette ...Like I said, I feel like I'll get bored very quickly again.
Day one if they don't cheap out on the cartridge.
@Tyranexx my favorite sea shanty is the one that says "What will you do with a drunken sailor?"
Well let it see,
@MasterGraveheart Me too, man! An N64 Classic would be cool, but I’d much rather have a Game Boy Classic... or better yet, a GBA Classic!
All I can say is I work at MediaMarkt and although there is definitely the page as anyone can see and it does have an item listing number, that number is not (yet?) listed in the tool that's showing me all the stock we have. Doesn't mean it's not true but there have been these false listings in the past so be careful with your hopes.
I'd suspect every ac up to black flag to be present. Unity won't run. Syndicate might, but I can see ubisoft wanting to get everything up to kenway family in there. So rogue, 3, and black flag. Ezio trilogy is an easy sell. So all of those titles seem like a shoe in. AC Odyssey and Origin are out of the question. I'm also pretty sure black flag had a wii u port.
However for 40 pounds, I'm guessing 50 US. That seems a bit cheap. My guess is that it will be the ezio trilogy only if this the case. Still would be a nice package.
It's a genre the Switch is desperately lacking in. Besides Zelda, there's not many 3rd person action adventure games.
While native apps are of course preferred, I'd also love to see Odyssey's streaming alternative get a launch outside of Japan. I mean, it's a game we'd never get on the Switch otherwise. And considering how well GeForce NOW works, I don't see why it wouldn't work for Switch as well. (potentially even better considering the lower resolutions)
@Mrtoad If you're talking about Kirby 64 then your out of luck because Sakurai didn't make that one. He stopped after Kirby Superstar. Also, Kirby 64 was going to make all of the help characters playable, like Waddle Dee and Adeline, but it just wasn't possible. The game was being made for the N64 Disk Drive and when that failed, it along with other games were given incredibly short deadlines to be finished. So alot of the content from Kirby 64 had to be cut due to time constraints.
As long as it doesn't feature the one where the only disguise an actual Indian takes is naming himself connor I'm down. That was just lame.
@peeks if it exists, it's definitely some of the main games DUH
Haven't really played any AC game after the 2nd one. I'd give the Switch ports a go, long as they run on a decent frame rate.
Very welcome. Definitely could play AC2 again. Superb game.
Let's be honest, anything from 360/PS3 gen can run on Switch if the devs care enough to port it properly.
Ubisoft has been dropping the ball for a while already, their financial results on sales on the Switch proves it because between Mario+Rabbids and Starlink you only had South Park as a "new" current gen game.
All the rest they released were board games or some other games that not many people would care.
On the other hand, PS4/X1 got Far Cry 5, two AC games, Crew 2 etc. All AAA system seller games.
On the top of that Ubi cancelled Steep on Switch...so yeah, they better get their act together if they want to stay relevant on the platform.
@Ryu_Niiyama how can it be fake in an official store website?
@Kevember Odissey requires no internet connection. Maybe only for the leaderboards and the ballon chasing game, but the whole game can be played without internet connection.
Too late Ubisoft. You're just too darned late.
This was an obvious decision when the Switch launched, but I gave up waiting. I now have all the AC games I want (other than Origins and Odyssey) on other systems.
Meh, never really got into the games so, not bothered. But please dont start the streaming game thing. My internet at home is bad enough it wouldnt handle any stream gaming at all
I'm kinda surprised that compilations like The Ezio Trilogy, Bioshock Trilogy and Batman: Return to Arkham haven't been announced for Switch already. Feel like easy wins for the publishers.
@BionicDodo I know! it's crazy that those games are not being developed!
I would love to play Bioshock on the go and Batman
@tourjeff GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption feel like obvious ports too.
@BionicDodo Yeah, GTA would be great ports and I'm sure it would sell very well but the devs have to hurry up on that front, they must release it before a new GTA is announced.
RDR, from what I understand the coding of the game was a mess and really difficult to work with so I don't think that would be released on any other platform, at least not in the feasible future.
I need Cartridge or Physical Version.
They should list Mortal Kombat compilation too then...
All on the cart?
It's Assassin Creed Chronicles, 2D side scrollers similar to Mark of the Ninja. Only a compilation of those games can fit in a cart.
If Ubisoft really wants to put a 3D AC game on Switch, it will be Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, a Vita port.
We literally have a thousand indies on the Switch. We don't really need more of those but we're in dire need of third party AAA games on the system so yes please!
Ezio or Kenway compilation would make me very happy. Great series.
I was set to play ACIII and ACIV on Wii U but ACIII kept crashing in the Boston chapter no matter how many disks I tried. That, and other games i was playing at the time, led to me giving up on the whole endeavor I was trying to do. But if I get a shot again, I'm all for it.
I suspect that the compilation is real but the platforms haven't been announced yet, so there's a placeholder for all of them.
Well, once Ubisoft realises what a cash cow the Switch can truly be if properly supported, they'll get Panic Button to create a proper Odyssey port. And Origins. And Unity. And Knuckles.
AC1 was okay, and the Ezio trilogy is definitely worth playing. But AC3 kind of burned me out of the series. The story kind of went off the rails and ruined the series for me. Haven't touched it since.
@RadioHedgeFund I played ACI for the first time on X and I loved it. The only thing that has aged is the animation.
@setezerocinco I don’t understand the question. Stores have false listings all the time.
@Ryu_Niiyama in USA?
@gcunit The interesting thing is that the game is listed for Xbox One and PS4 too so it can't be The Ezio Collection, that one (and IV) exists already and Rogue was remastered. They are also remastering III and Liberation so that leaves the Chronicles the only games that could be bundled for a release on Switch. I doesn't count as "collection" and Unity, Syndicate, Origins and Odyssey would have trouble running on Switch.
After playing the first 2 Assassin Creed games, I have lost all interest in the series.
@setezerocinco Anywhere. America isn't exempt. This is a German retailer doing the listing anyway, so America has nothing to do with it.
@BlueOcean Personally, I'm not really buying this rumour, because of the mention of the other platforms. I can't believe they'd put the Chronicles games on a physical cart. And this retailer is a bit too obscure for me to give much attention to at this stage.
Well, I guess the games in this compilation will be those three side-scrolling ones: https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/assassins-creed-chronicles/. But that's only my guess and I'd still buy them because to some extent those are solid games.
I already have the whole compilation on X1, and it's nice keeping the whole series all "under one roof" for the first time, and admittedly nice to have it with better graphics, but this would certainly be a cool addition to Switch, and no reason it couldn't run. Might even have to double dip to get portable AC1 and erase the memories of trying to play AC on the Thumb Destroyer (PSP Nub.)
@BlueOcean It could be a "new compilation" SKU that includes AC1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, without the bonus Embers and Lineage videos. Adding AC1 to make it "complete" would make it a whole new SKU for Switch, and currently AC1 isn't available on PS4, or as a "native" X1 game (it's a BC game with X enhancements.) Selling the same collection in multiple bundles is all the rage these days and would justify multi-platform releases. Plus they've clearanced Ezio Collection to death. This would give them a reason to reset the pricing.
I'm still not sure the rumor is true, but it's believable.
I enjoyed the AC games I played, and would gladly pay some money (not $60 though) for a collection on Switch, provided that no internet connection is required, of course.
I mean, to me, that's completely stupid to make such a game (a single player one) require an internet connection, on a platform where about 50% of people play in portable mode (thus, not always having internet access).
@Ryu_Niiyama until now, every game I pre-ordered in MediaMarkt or Saturn were eventually launched (sooner or later).
I'm going to guess 3, Black Flag and Rogue. 3 and Black Flag are on Wii U so porting to Switch should be easy and Rogue is a last gen sequel to Black Flag so makes sense to bring over too.
As for the other systems, they would use the AC3 remaster coming next year as part of the Odyssey season pass, last year's AC Rogue remaster and the original XB1/PS4 versions of Black Flag (think Dark Souls Trilogy).
@smyr I am note sure... if it were these side scrolling games they would call it Chronicles, not Compilation. I still think it is a compilation of the old games. We saw that already for example with Lego Harry Potter and more or less with FF and RE. Why should Ubi not do the same?
No thanks! They can keep that rubbish on the Xbone and PS
I played the original on the 360 and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I bought the second and pre-ordered the 3rd too. However, I only played the 2nd for a couple hours and couldn't get into it. I ended up canceling the pre-order for the 3rd because of this. I always wanted to play the 3rd game though. If a compilation included the first 3, I might be interested.
I would automatically assume it was just a new release of their Chronicles series, but as that's already out on other consoles, this gives me a bit more hope, should the leak prove to be true.
I doubt this will have the latest AC Odyssey on it. It's probably previous games, and therefore would not need cloud technology to run it. I mean if they can get AC 3 & Black Flag running on Wii U, then all of the previous Assassin Creed games can run on Switch. But again, I have my doubts this compilation will include Odyssey.
AC2 is still the highlight of the pinnacle of the series for me and I'd double dip if on Switch.
Would probably be easily ported too seeing as it's a generation old?
@setezerocinco I wasn't aware there's a balloon chasing mode in Assassin's Creed Odyssey for Switch. And I'm pretty sure you do need an internet connection in order to stream a game.
@Koudai1979: Ah yes! Drunken sailor! That one is my favorite too! I would sometimes purposely cycle through the different tracks just to get to that one.
My interest in assassin’s creed is limited to the new open world titles. Hard pass even if it is real
@BlueOcean Game should have been fixed before launch
@mikegamer True.
I think they need to incorporate Starfox into the games to make it appealing
Assassin's Creed III (Wii U) is 17GB.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Wii U) is 15GB.
A remastered version of both games, bundled, would be 32GB minimum, unless they compress the file size (which could have a negative effect in the visuals and audio department).
@SKTTR Other Switch games have compressed the audio before... with awful results.
