Predice Metroid Prime 4 will be a Switch 2 release title, possibly cross gen with Switch 1.
In the past Nintendo have spent 5-7 years on top Zelda titles that have sold well in the early years of a new console. Eg N64 and ocarina of time and twilight princess on Wii. So for this investment they won't want it to underperform in sales by releasing it before Switch 2.
We will likely get Metroid Prime 2 in Q3 2024, and then 3 in 2025.
Played it for 4 hours so far and it's a 9/10 for me.
The map is the only thing that prevents this being a 10/10, it's not easy to see what areas can be unlocked by new items and the quick travel points are not clearly marked.
Great puzzles, very original items to collect, the atmosphere and graphics suit the switch oled very well. I would recommend it if you like puzzle-based metroidvanias.
How about a metroidvania with mario wonder effects? I liked mario wonder but it was over very quickly and would like more replayability. For example metal mario sections.
@OorWullie Agreed, it would have been a better outcome for the devs to have not released on Switch or to wait until they have optimised it because it is bad experience for players.
The devs claim they are working on Grime 2 at the moment and are using a new approach that is better optimised for Switch so perhaps that release will go better.
Original was a 9 for me and the Switch remake is an 8 because the controls feel dated, especially the jumping and in the mini games. Music is an improvement for sure.
Hori split pad compact - nice compromise between larger buttons than joycons and not as large overall size as the split pad pros. I like the idea of using the SNES classic controller though as I grew up playing Yoshi's Island on the SNES.
Very creative game but completed it in a day and there's not much reason to replay stages, so 10/10 creativity but overall too short and I give it 8/10.
Most definitely will pick up blasphemous 2, the first is one of my favourite metroidvanias on Switch. The atmosphere, traversal and combat look awesome in the sequel.
Ocarina of Time's dead hands were probably scarier, as was the bottom of the well in kakariko village. TotK does well though, especially its underground areas and those gloom hands.
Yes, very happy with my Zelda oled. It looks good with the white split pad compact joycon alternatives, which are a similar colour scheme to the Zelda oled dock.
@Olmectron Yes, the split pad compact is not perfect for Zelda without motion controls, unfortunately I end up swapping them for normal joycons when I need that or use the Switch Pro Controller. I can understand the appeal of gyro aiming for TotK and why you'd prefer a controller that can offer that.
This movie seems like a lot of fan service, which is not a bad thing, just not everyone is interested in that kind of show. Personally, I'm gonna skip the movie and instead look forward to the next Zelda and Mario games instead.
I've been a Zelda fan since the gold NES cartridge days, and feel Zelda switch is the edition I want to keep in the longer term so ordered it already.
Not sure about the zelda pro controller, it doesn't seem as of a unique design as the switch Zelda edition compared to the standard black pro controller.
Planning to 100% Cereza and the Lost Demon - love this game so much! Despite its easy appearance, it actually becomes quite challenging to find all collectables and get Platinum in all time trials.
I didn't notice the Japanese design has blue slime over the left side until after I voted for EU - I'd say 50/50. This is probably my favourite Metroid game box art because Seamus looks like a monster herself in it.
@Buizel Yes, that's nice to hear how it changes after the space palace. For the most part I had a lot of fun with the game and will persevere. The idea of some changes the the plot and some cool palaces after the space one sounds good to me.
I happen to be a Zelda veteran and really like the puzzles in the palaces so would finish those early in the month cycle then have about 25 days of life sim to wait until the next one. I'm sure other players have different experiences of the pacing and gameplay variety.
@link12684 thanks for the encouragement to finish P5R, I might come back to the game after a break.
I happened to stop playing it at the space palace boss that has regenerating minions and a final form that can insta-kill your team. There's a lot I really enjoyed about the game too and I liked the bank and pyramid palaces.
Tried Persona 5 Royal on Switch recently and gave up after 50 hours of incredibly slow pacing and repetitive dialogue. While I can understand the fandom around the characters, these JRPGS aren't for me.
Surprised that Aghanim from A Link To The Past isn't on the list as it introduced the mechanic of repelling magic with the master sword... and bug catching net!
I love A Link To The Past but a friend of mine started with Breath of the Wild and never got into the 2D Zelda games or Ocarina of Time, which is why I would recommend BotW

Re: Gallery: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Looking Absolutely Stunning On Switch
@gcunit I see you are excited about scanning in MP4, good for you.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Confirmed For Switch, Launching 2025
Not looking forward to scanning and space pirates theme music returning... it looks nice though and likely to be a Switch 1 + 2 cross gen title imo.
Re: Gallery: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Is Looking Absolutely Stunning On Switch
Scanning returns, sigh... I do hope they innovated with MP4 and not just made a homage to 1, 2 and 3.

Re: Nintendo Announces Second US Store, Opening 2025
San Francisco - do Nintendo know about all the open shop lifting and drug use there? It isn't exactly the most family friendly city at the moment.

Re: Review: GRIME Definitive Edition (Switch) - A Poor Port Of A Superb Soulslike Metroidvania
Bought Grime on PS5 last week and it's very well designed, especially the levels, atmosphere, and sound design.
I read on Reddit that the Grime dev team is small and didn't have sufficient resources to optimise the switch edition.
It's a very good metroidvania so if your interested do check it out, though perhaps not on Switch.
Re: Random: Horrific Mario Hologram Is Freaking Out CES Attendees
That's hilarious - maybe its a magikoopa who made a mario imposter?!! Lol
Re: Reminder: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2023
It was a very good year especially for 1st party Nintendo titles, like Zelda and Metroid Prime Remastered.
I felt that Mario Wonder and Mario RPG were good fun but felt short in length, so they are more an 8/10 for me personally.
Re: Anniversary: Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Is 10 Years Old Today
Would love link between worlds on Switch - I'm a bug fan of ALTTP so really enjoyed the sequel

Re: Random: Fan-Made Hollow Knight Boss Battle In 3D Has Us Ready To Dive Into Hallownest Again
Nice idea but 2D suits the mechanics of Hollow Knight IMHO, the style carries well over in terms of the music and aesthetic
Re: Blasphemous 2 Is Looking Deliciously Gory In Latest Switch Trailer
Most definitely will pick up blasphemous 2, the first is one of my favourite metroidvanias on Switch. The atmosphere, traversal and combat look awesome in the sequel.

I really enjoyed the OOT final battle with phantom ganon then the real ganon - very atmospheric and fun gameplay for each phase
Re: Talking Point: Is Tears Of The Kingdom The Scariest Zelda Game Ever?
Ocarina of Time's dead hands were probably scarier, as was the bottom of the well in kakariko village. TotK does well though, especially its underground areas and those gloom hands.
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Players Discover Easiest Item Duplication Glitch Yet
Brilliant - will do this to dupe amber for the armor upgrades

Responses to dark link outfit are fun too - most characters will initially be scared then recognise link
Re: Poll: Goats Or Lizards? What Do You Think Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Zonai Look Like?
Perhaps part rabbit due to the ears and reference to Link turning into a rabbit in A Link To The Past
Re: Zelda Switch OLED Launch Boosts Nintendo Hardware Sales In April (US)
Yes, very happy with my Zelda oled. It looks good with the white split pad compact joycon alternatives, which are a similar colour scheme to the Zelda oled dock.

Fortunately I was able to order one - nice looking item!
Re: Round Up: People Can't Stop Torturing Koroks In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
Didn't even know you could move those backpack koroks! Maybe I'll try fusing one to a shield.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Franchise Should Illumination Tackle Next?
Luigi's Mansion 3 style movie would be a lot of fun
Re: Hori Unveils Five New Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Products
The split pad compact is my go to Switch joycon alternative, so I'll probably end up getting the Zelda ones of these
Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Ganondorf?
Phantom Ganondorf in OOT was aesthetically well designed and his boss fight was fun to play

Re: Feature: Which Zelda Games Should You Replay Before Tears Of The Kingdom?
I'm still in the middle of Wind Waker on the GameCube and taking my time to finish it for the first time.
I'm not sure if I want to replay BotW because the first play through took me 200 hours!

Re: Atlus Reveals Most Popular Persona 5 Royal Character In Official Poll
Ryuji is great as light relief among many if the serious scenarios in the game.
Though I probably like Futaba the most as a character.
