Re: Nintendo Is "Evolving" Into An Entertainment Company, According To Doug Bowser

@NorthwestEagle I know. they've come a long way from those days, today the Switch is pretty much the only content that doesn't arbitrarily censors third party games, as long as the game goes through the proper age rating boards, anything goes. I strongly believe that a big reason for this is because they're the only one of the big 3 that is still truly a Japanese company (Sony stopped being on after they moved to California). So they're removed from modern American politics and world views.

He can cry a river for all care. I don't have a sliver of sympathy for gatcha garbage. Mihoyo's games indeed look beautiful and if they made game with the quality one can expect from a full price release I'd gladly pay for it. The fact they ONLY do gatcha is all the proof I need that they have no respect for players. They don't wanna sell a piece of art, they want us to gamble our money away.

Re: Percentage Of Female Managers At Nintendo Hasn't Improved, Despite Pledges

ottoecamn

It's not good to discriminate based on race or gender, but It's NEVER good to hire people for the sake of a quota, you end up with a lot of useless people who bring nothing to the table other than their "identity". Disney has been doing that and look at where it got them.

Nintendo must remain as they are. and give equality of opportunity, NOT of outcome.

Re: Random: Bayonetta 3's Director Was Worried Hideki Kamiya Would Interfere

@marandahir Yeah, I think it's safe to say that the time Nintendo would demand censorship for the sake of their family friendly image are long gone.

And while I have some disagreements (as my Senran Kagura profile pic suggests, I enjoy fanservice and sexy female and will defend it more often than not. heck Xenoblade 2 is my favorite in the series in part because the artists designing the blades were given free reign to do whatever the hell they wanted) I do fully agree 100% that Bayonetta is a rare bastion of actually showing a FEMININE powerful character (instead of what the west been doing by basically making all their strong women extremely masculine. in both body and personality) and the industry would benefit from having more characters like her.

It's part of why the end of Bayonetta 3 soured me towards the whole franchise moving forward. I don't accept Viola as "Bayonetta", her personality was likable enough but her design embodies everything I hate about modern western games and it's completely antithetical to everything Bayonetta represented: A completely androgynous looking body, masculine haircut, with zero sex-appeal and feminine charm. The idea that she's the face of the series all but guarantees I won't buy a Bayonetta 4 (unless they REALLY back-up) and it's very saddening to me that fanservice focused games are slowly being taken away.

Re: Rumour: Aubrey Plaza Is Supposedly "Top Choice" For Sonic The Hedgehog 3's Villain

My first reaction was "... WHAT?!", but I guess that, if Jim Carrey officially retired there's not much that can be done. I'm not very familiar with her work so I don't really know who she could be playing. We know the writers are mainly basing the plot on Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog so the first option would be to make her Rouge. if Jim is officially retired with no chance of coming back, maybe they could introduce SAGE in the movies (but change her personality to be more in line with movie Eggman, kinda making her an extension of his will if they're gonna say he died at the end of the last movie), but I'd imagine they'd have a script ready at this point.

That being said, Jim did say he might consider coming back if a script REALLY appeals to him, and he's gone on record saying he loves playing Eggman, so here's hoping he'll be back to wrap up the trilogy.

Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

ottoecamn

I'm sorry but I really have no sympathy for the Dolphin guys here. You need to be unbelievably stupid to think putting it on an official storefront like Steam was a good idea. Everyone knows how overprotective Nintendo is of their IP, regardless of whether or not you agree with Nintendo's position, putting Dolphin on the spotlight like that was BEGGING for trouble.

Re: Random: Bayonetta 3's Director Was Worried Hideki Kamiya Would Interfere

@marandahir I know what you mean... I remember seeing someone mention why Bayonetta felt so off in 3 and something I hadn't thought of got brought up: her Character Design.

Because she wears her hair in a way that calls back to child Cereza in Bayonetta 1, you can't have her express her sex-appeal in the same way as before, cuz that just kinda weirds you all since they'd have you make the connection between that child-like imagery and Bayonetta's lewd persona. as a result, her dances look really off and she doesn't play for the camera in the same way as before.

It was really disappointing to see Bayonetta of all franchises get uncaracteristically prude while pretending it didn't.

Gotta say though, I very much doubt Nintendo had any hand in censoring her, let's not forget that was precisely Kamiya and Platinum's fear when Nintendo financed Bayonetta 2, but to their surprise, Nintendo's response was not only to give them free reign, but make outfits like the Link and Peach ones more revealing.

Re: Random: Bayonetta 3's Director Was Worried Hideki Kamiya Would Interfere

ottoecamn

you know... if Kamiya "not interfering" resulted in the story we got... He ABSOLUTELY should've.
Cuz, no joke, Bayonetta 3's ending was so bad that not only soured my experience with it, but with the entire franchise. the toning down of Bayonetta's sex appeal (you don't even lose clothes if you use wicked weaves in Bayonetta 1 and 2 costumes), stupid retcon suggesting that Bayonetta 1 and 2 aren't direct sequels but alternate universes, the nothing villain with no explanation, backstory, development, or reason, the absolute waste of every character, and the shoehorning of Viola as the "new face" of the franchise are all things that destroyed any prospect of me being remotely excited for a Bayonetta 4. and that bled into Bayonetta origins. Had that game come out before 3, I would've been interesting, but 3 soiled the entire thing for me.

I can't think of any other game franchise that made me tap out so hard like what Bayonetta did with 3.
