@NorthwestEagle I know. they've come a long way from those days, today the Switch is pretty much the only content that doesn't arbitrarily censors third party games, as long as the game goes through the proper age rating boards, anything goes. I strongly believe that a big reason for this is because they're the only one of the big 3 that is still truly a Japanese company (Sony stopped being on after they moved to California). So they're removed from modern American politics and world views.
As long as the ones calling the shots at Nintendo continue to be the Japanese branch and they don't do something stupid like moving their Hq to California, I'm all for it
He can cry a river for all care. I don't have a sliver of sympathy for gatcha garbage. Mihoyo's games indeed look beautiful and if they made game with the quality one can expect from a full price release I'd gladly pay for it. The fact they ONLY do gatcha is all the proof I need that they have no respect for players. They don't wanna sell a piece of art, they want us to gamble our money away.
I really enjoyed the first game. it's main issue was really the lack of content and polish. and it seems they got a bigger budget this time around, so hopefully they'll be able to rectify the short-comings on the first one.
@mazzel Xenoblade 3 is a really great game. personally, I like Xenoblade 2 more (I felt the story in 3 left a little bit to be desired towards the end, though Future Redeemed did, well... redeem the few issues I had with it). Anyway, have a good time with it!
@mazzel that's true, but Botw and TotK still manage to feel like a zeld game, it feels like an evolution, FF16 doesn't do that, it doesn't evolve the final fantasy formula, it just ditches it and does something completely different, which appeals to a good amount of people, but also rubs some people the wrong way.
I think it will be Zelda overall. I've heard polarizing things about FF16. some really love it (the majority, in fact.), but there's also a segment of gamers that feel like the game is a huge betrayal of what Final Fantasy was.
Glad to see Monolith doing so well! All their games have been fantastic. (Even if I do think xenoblade 3 is thr weakest of the trilogy. Mind you, that's still at least an 8.5 out of 10 for me)
It's not good to discriminate based on race or gender, but It's NEVER good to hire people for the sake of a quota, you end up with a lot of useless people who bring nothing to the table other than their "identity". Disney has been doing that and look at where it got them.
Nintendo must remain as they are. and give equality of opportunity, NOT of outcome.
That's great to hear! I havent seen a lot of buzz about this Rain Code online or people talking about it on YouTube so I was worried the game might under-perform. Good to see it's doing well!
@Samalik sorry mate, but that is one thing that is never gonna happen. Because in Tsukihime's case, an uncut version means literally porn. we're talkinng fully rendered images of sexual intercourse with in-depth descriptions of the acts being performed. That's not something that is gonna fly on the Switch or ANY console.
FLIPPIN' FINALLY! Here's hoping the franchise is niche enough that it won't get censored! (And I'm saying, censored when compared to the Japanese version of the remake, not to the original eroge)
@RupeeClock yeah but this kind of rethoric always makes me think of that whole "being progressive is pretending all the progress that came before never happened so you claim to be breaking a glass ceiling that doesn't exist" thing.
Anyway, I wonder if she'll have the same skills in sonic superstars. It looks fun.
@marandahir Yeah, I think it's safe to say that the time Nintendo would demand censorship for the sake of their family friendly image are long gone.
And while I have some disagreements (as my Senran Kagura profile pic suggests, I enjoy fanservice and sexy female and will defend it more often than not. heck Xenoblade 2 is my favorite in the series in part because the artists designing the blades were given free reign to do whatever the hell they wanted) I do fully agree 100% that Bayonetta is a rare bastion of actually showing a FEMININE powerful character (instead of what the west been doing by basically making all their strong women extremely masculine. in both body and personality) and the industry would benefit from having more characters like her.
It's part of why the end of Bayonetta 3 soured me towards the whole franchise moving forward. I don't accept Viola as "Bayonetta", her personality was likable enough but her design embodies everything I hate about modern western games and it's completely antithetical to everything Bayonetta represented: A completely androgynous looking body, masculine haircut, with zero sex-appeal and feminine charm. The idea that she's the face of the series all but guarantees I won't buy a Bayonetta 4 (unless they REALLY back-up) and it's very saddening to me that fanservice focused games are slowly being taken away.
I'm pretty sure P3R will come to the Switch as well. Nintendo might wanna announce it themselves in a direct (let's not forget, the exact same thing happened with persona 5 Royal. they announced the XBox version first. then later confirmed the switch release along with the ports of P4G and P3P).
@Bret Because Pikmin, as much as we may not wanna admit it, it's not that big a franchise. If they have some huge announcement for later in the year in it, people are gonna talk about that way more than Pikmin.
my OCD says it's really weird that they're Xenoblade 1 icons categorized as Xenoblade 3, but on the other hand, it makes it easier to mix and match. so it works out in the end!
I know the insider trading thing is bad, but with everything that happened to him ever since the Rodea days, I can't help but feel a bit sorry for the guy.
My first reaction was "... WHAT?!", but I guess that, if Jim Carrey officially retired there's not much that can be done. I'm not very familiar with her work so I don't really know who she could be playing. We know the writers are mainly basing the plot on Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog so the first option would be to make her Rouge. if Jim is officially retired with no chance of coming back, maybe they could introduce SAGE in the movies (but change her personality to be more in line with movie Eggman, kinda making her an extension of his will if they're gonna say he died at the end of the last movie), but I'd imagine they'd have a script ready at this point.
That being said, Jim did say he might consider coming back if a script REALLY appeals to him, and he's gone on record saying he loves playing Eggman, so here's hoping he'll be back to wrap up the trilogy.
I'm sorry but I really have no sympathy for the Dolphin guys here. You need to be unbelievably stupid to think putting it on an official storefront like Steam was a good idea. Everyone knows how overprotective Nintendo is of their IP, regardless of whether or not you agree with Nintendo's position, putting Dolphin on the spotlight like that was BEGGING for trouble.
I enjoyed the first one well enough, but I must say, I was really disappointed with the showcase, it's ridiculous to me that there wasn't a single Senran Kagura announcement. at this point, I'd even take Switch ports of the older games.
@marandahir I know what you mean... I remember seeing someone mention why Bayonetta felt so off in 3 and something I hadn't thought of got brought up: her Character Design.
Because she wears her hair in a way that calls back to child Cereza in Bayonetta 1, you can't have her express her sex-appeal in the same way as before, cuz that just kinda weirds you all since they'd have you make the connection between that child-like imagery and Bayonetta's lewd persona. as a result, her dances look really off and she doesn't play for the camera in the same way as before.
It was really disappointing to see Bayonetta of all franchises get uncaracteristically prude while pretending it didn't.
Gotta say though, I very much doubt Nintendo had any hand in censoring her, let's not forget that was precisely Kamiya and Platinum's fear when Nintendo financed Bayonetta 2, but to their surprise, Nintendo's response was not only to give them free reign, but make outfits like the Link and Peach ones more revealing.
you know... if Kamiya "not interfering" resulted in the story we got... He ABSOLUTELY should've. Cuz, no joke, Bayonetta 3's ending was so bad that not only soured my experience with it, but with the entire franchise. the toning down of Bayonetta's sex appeal (you don't even lose clothes if you use wicked weaves in Bayonetta 1 and 2 costumes), stupid retcon suggesting that Bayonetta 1 and 2 aren't direct sequels but alternate universes, the nothing villain with no explanation, backstory, development, or reason, the absolute waste of every character, and the shoehorning of Viola as the "new face" of the franchise are all things that destroyed any prospect of me being remotely excited for a Bayonetta 4. and that bled into Bayonetta origins. Had that game come out before 3, I would've been interesting, but 3 soiled the entire thing for me.
I can't think of any other game franchise that made me tap out so hard like what Bayonetta did with 3.
@LilyGoMEOW mate. Microsoft has characters in smash bros and mine craft is jn evey platform ever. They're model is more about putting their services everywhere than exclusivity.
Though it would be funny as heck if they pulled out of playstation and only playstation.

@yuwarite that's my concern too. Along as they remain a Japanese company then all is well. The big question is whether they will.

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Surpasses Zelda: Tears Of Kingdom As 2023's Highest-Rated Game
literally the only thing I've heard about this game is the bear sex thing. I still don't know what it's about or what platform it's on.
Re: Sonic Mania 2 Didn't Happen Because Sega Wanted To "Move Beyond" Pixel Art
I agree.
Personally, I'm kind of sick of Pixel art. I find that in an era where we can have sprites that look crisp and well defined. it's a bit lazy.

That movie was just ok. Cole was a nothing burger of a Protagonist. Even his power being a literal plot armor was lame.
They really should've made Liu Kang or Scorpion the Protagonist.
