I gotta say.... Am I the only getting annoyed with the Pixel art style? Streets of Rage 4 looks fantastic with it's fully rendered hand-drawn graphics that I REALLY wish more Beat-em-ups did that instead of constantly regurgitating the 16-bit look.
Between this, Shredder's Revenge, and River City Girls, it feels played out. I wouldn't be complaining if we saw more variety from the Genre.
This is a ridiculous argument. a game like CoD can be optimized to run on the switch, yeah, the graphics would have to be downgraded, but that's a trade Switch owners are all aware of and more than happy to accept.
honestly, everything I've seen of the RE4 remake looks very unappealing. I was concerned when they announced it that they were gonna tone down the campiness of the original, and it seems like that's exactly what they did.
I'm curious as to how so, I've been playing through it, having not played the first one, it felt like it had a healthy dose of it (maybe it's because I got the deluxe edition on sale so I had all the girls on swimsuits from the get go).
@Arawn93 you kinda hit the nail on the head there friend.
DoA6 was dead on arrival the moment the producer announced they'd tone down fanservice, while Automata and XB2 launched their series into mainstream success.
Ryza arguably did the same for Atelier so to back away from this now is an extremely bone-headed decision.
Ryza's design is a core part of why her series became so successful, the "Thick Thighs" thing isn't just a meme, it's a part of why so many people got interested in this series when they haven't been before. SPECIALLY in this age where the idea of having female characters being portrayed as attractive/sexy/feminine is frowned upon by the western media.
To move away from this is not only beyond foolish, but it's proven to be a wrong decision.
There has never been a series that established itself with fanservice and then did better by sacrificing that element for a "wider audience" (Dead or Alive comes to mind. DoA5 took the series to new heights, but DoA6, through a variety of poor decisions, Killed all good will 5 had built. And a core mistake made very early into that game's development was the announcement that they'd tone down the fanservice.
Of Course, there's ways that fanservice can be overdone, or done in poor taste, but as far as I'm aware, that has never been the case for Ryza.
mark my works, this will backfire. and the company will learn nothing from it.
Doesn't surprise me. This is a bayonetta game without anything the series stand out. And coupled with the huge let down that was Bayo 3's ending, this game would need to mitigate the damage.
Gonna be honest, I'm gonna skip on this one. Bayo 3's ending was bad to the point that the franchise now needs to do something really big in order to be redeemed in my eyes. and this game does nothing to remedy that sour taste. (heck considering what's implied in the end of 3, I don't even want a Bayonetta 4).
@Wexter Hone Yeah, I do think it would be for the best, with the exception of Automata, Nintendo has been by far Platinum's best partner. I don't doubt they'd give them a lot of creative freedom on top of the stability if they were to aquire Platinum as a second party studio.
@calbeau Yeah, it's kinda ridiculous how people still act like this idea of "Strong independent Girl Boss" is a new thing when literally every other movie released in the last few years have been doing exactly that. (SPECIALLY Disney).
I had the worry that they're gonna Wokefy this movie by having Peach be the actual Hero and Mario being portrayed as sort of a bumbling buffoon following her around, but from the more recent trailers and teasers, thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case.
I dunno, I'm going in cautiously optmistic. there are ways that you can have a proactive Peach, as we've seen in the Charlie Nozawa Comics, and Super Paper Mario. I just have very little faith in western writers but Miyamoto's supervision and how good and faithful everything else looks are the things that give me hope this will be good.
honestly, as much as I like this series... this feels like a bit too much milking, the Trilogy and Storm 4 are all on Switch. and I don't see anything here that couldn't simply be DLC for Storm 4.
I really wished Bandai would just take the Ninja Storm formula and paste it onto another IP, can you image how much mileage they could get out of a "One Piece Ultimate Pirate Storm"?
Good news. Frontiers is the best Sonic game since generations and the most inovative for the franchise since Unleashed. from the gameplay to the story, it has its flaws, but it's a great step in the right direction for the series!
I made a female Robin and married her to Chrom. I thought they had a pretty good chemistry, and later I think it paid off quite well, since now Lucina's struggling was deciding whether or not to kill her own mother. And making her and Morgan siblings was quite nice too.
@dil_power Three Houses is a great game but I don't know if I'd recomend it as someone's first FE since it does a lot things differently. I'd say Engage is probably the better alternative if what you want is the best iteration of the core Fire Emblem experience.
Granted, Three Houses is also a great game, so I'd say watch some reviews on both to get some different perspectives and see which appeal to you more.
I said it before and I'll say it again. Delaying this game because of the war was an extremely stupid move. It doesn't help anyone affected by the war, and the game's release wouldn't have caused any harm to anyone. All this did was ultimately hurt the game's sales by making people forget about it.
@VinylCreep True, we don't know if there's more going on, but if LRG is going to make a public showing of the fact that they fired her (which is very much what their tweet was) and say that they "investigated", the burden of proof is on them. without presenting any evidence, it just looks like they chose to cater to Purple Tinker. We've seen this type of cancelation happen time and again, so it's not unreasonable to assume the same thing is happening in this instance. specially when their response is to lock people from replying to tweets instead of clarifying the situation.
@VinylCreep well, it's known that she was let go after that Purple Tinker individual made the complaint that she followed certain people. and that should not be grounds to fire someone, much less use them as an example by making a tweet about from their official account.
Of course, don't take my word for it, look into it if it interests you and make your own decisions.
I'm willing to eat my words if she truly did something bad, but what I've seen (not just from this case but others over the years), This seems like throwing someone under the bus for the sake of virtue signaling (and doing so at the behest of a pretty nasty person too).
For those unaware (Since I dont think Nintendo Life reported on it), Limited Run Games recently fired an employee for following conservative accounts after one individual (who has a long history of being toxic, and abuse) complained to them and dug up an 8 year old tweet. Apparently what prompted the individual to get her fired was her tweeting that she's excited to play Hogwarts Legacy.
Then LRG had the gall to tweet saying that they "respect all opinions" in the same post they announced that they fired her.
Regardless of where you sit politically, this kind of 'Thought Policing', the idea that you can lose your job for simply having an opinion your employer doesn't agree with, is a really bad thing that should not be supported.
That, on top of Limited Run's track record of bad experiences with their products, is why I'd urge anyone to not buy from them now or in the future.
The only fix I wanted is for Bayo's clothes to vanish when using the Bayonetta 1 and 2 costumes. It was such a huge disappointment to see that it only happens with the default one (which is, in my opinion, worst bayonetta design), unlike 2 that kept clothes vanishing thing for the og outfit.
@ArchRex I wasn't aware of that. I stopped following after I heard of season 1. If nothing is changed in 2 and in this coming one, I might give it a chance.
@N00BiSH well, it's good to know nothing was cut from season 2.
regardless. I'm not in favor of censorship, specially when the ones behind it try to hide it. They made a lot of Bosco's jokes objectively less funny. So what I said still applies at least to season 1. (But hey, if they stopped doing that, it's definetly a good thing).
I would be interested in this if they didn't do the unforgivable and censored jokes in the previous remaster while lying through their teeth saying they wouldn't do that. I can't really support that.
@Maulbert I mean... Sega still does plenty of non-Sonic stuff: over the past few years we got stuff like Yakuza, SMT/Persona, Hatsune Miku, that Monkey Ball remake, Streets of Rage 4, the list goes on.
I pre-ordered. I think it's important to support games like this on Switch whenever possible. might not be a Senran Kagura or Oneechanbara, but until we get those ported, best anyone can do is keep showing that the audience for these kinds of games are on Switch and not on Playstation.
@Sisilly_G I'd say go for the PC version if you can, but yeah, Last Round is a fantastic fighting game. I remember that even the excessive DLC didn't bother me at the time cuz I just bought the costumes for my main (Lisa).
The saddest thing is, people made their voices heard. when Tecmo said they didn't release DoAX3 in the west because of "western sensibilities", that game went on break pre-order import records. people said it loud and clear that these games have a place in the west and Tecmo STILL didn't learn.
@DripDropCop146 This is not it though, remember when Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite had that fiasco when a dev justified not having any X-Men by saying something like "The characters are just functions, so it doesn't matter if the X-men aren't in the game because we gave their moves to other characters" and the game went on to be a complete flop (granted, there were other issues but the lack of characters didn't help). It's the same principle here, Bayonetta is iconic, the gameplay is great but the character is the cherry on top that draws people to give the game a chance, Viola doesn't have that charisma, and even her own mechanics aren't nearly as fun as Bayonetta's. After experiencing her in Bayonetta 3, trying to shove her in there as the "new bayonetta" rubbed a lot of people the wrong way (I guess another comparison would be what happened with the DMC reboot. and the Edgy Dante)
