Sweet! I've been looking forward to this for a while. I'll happily wait for a physical cart. I've been way into retro gaming lately anyways so I can keep myself busy in the mean time.
@JohnnyMind I'm pretty sure I saw on Deku Deals you can preorder through Play Asia a physical cart. I've never bought from the before but I too hope for a physical copy, it looks so good!
I had this game growing up and legit did not understand what was going on. I didn't have a manual for it I don't think, but that Japanese box at makes it clear. Would have helped a younger me for sure
So my membership renewed this morning, I'm gonna make a call tomorrow bout this, most standard retailers would honor it. Hopefully that's something that'll happen here!
I got the first one back in like 08' so excited with the final count down commercial, but I didn't enjoy it really. I traded it in pretty soon after and never played another one. If there are any notable entries I'd be open to hearing about it but I'm not heartbroken.
I've been wanting a physical cart of super Metroid for a while and finally picked one up yesterday. I'm not even an hour in but, I feel like I'd normally have died alot by now and have been pleasantly surprised that I'm still at zero! Mother Brain will set me straight when i get there, normally die quite a bit.
They look awesome, I'd love to try em out some day some how. I have a SNES and a Genesis controller, I feel like they cover my bases pretty well for any retro switch needs.
Something I've wanted is the game before a link to the past in the time line between that and Ocarina of time, where link loses. So maybe a game that leads up to that could be cool?
@ScalenePowers that'd be different. But I'd be down. It looks like from the trailer the Echos are kinda sentient. But maybe you slowly get to fight as them?
Either way pretty much all Zelda games are Zelda telling Link what to do which would be on brand and also the "wisest" thing to do. Send link to fight the dude that keeps capturing you. I wouldn't go if I was her.
I know I was worried about how fun the game would be just using Echos, so it'd be pretty cool if there was like a world swappy mechanic between the two of them.
I've seen people ask for 50/50 but I'm hoping it's just terrible marketing and it's more of a Link than Zelda game.
Regardless cool news! I'm hopeful about the game regardless of how much Link to Zelda gameplay there is.
I got a gba copy of zero mission for Christmas and just got around to playing it and actually beating it yesterday. I died once from Mother Brain but that was my only death.
It is a hard fight but, I don't know why I never looked at it as unfair. I've always been able to beat it pretty easily. Super Metroids Chicken Mother Brain does give me a run for my money. And the crazy Chozo statue before that.
@WaveBoy to be fair, I feel like any game that has you ship wrecked would probably start out like that. Maybe the sword on the dock/ beach was also a little samey, but same kinda thing, if he was a sword guy the wreck.
I'll add it to Deku deals, when it drops to a dollar or 2 I'll probably pick it up. I loved Gato Roboto and have found myself revisiting it quite often, since it's just an hour or two to beat. I'd love a fun Zelda like equivalent.
My dad was kind and for Christmas got me a Zero Mission cart but when I opened it, it was a repro. I was able to get it sent back for him and found a real one at a retro store a few days later.
I feel like DKoldies exists for parents like mine that don't know. You end up paying more but you do get what you're after.
@Maubari I feel like I've noticed that on a few games myself recently, where maybe there needs to be different standards based on whether it's Indie or AAA or something. Do you know of any sites that seem more accurate to check game ratings?
I mean currently I'm no eager beaver for the next console, I've got plenty to do to keep me busy. If the software line up is insane I may preorder but I'm fairly certain I'll just be grabbing it after that fact.
My top is A Link Between Worlds. Most played game on 3DS. The replayability is insane. But I would also like Crono Trigger since I've never played it. Also that Disney collection of Capcom games also sounds pretty sweet. Would not be upset if I spent money on that as well.
So I was really hoping I'd get this survey too when I saw the article and for Father's Day my wife got me a SNES controller, which was sweet, on my account and she just told me that she was asked to fill out the survey and she turned it down haha.
Everyone who does get to participate tell them I would like to own my retro games! Please and thank you.
I love the idea of 3DS remasters. Just wanted it to be A Link Between Worlds or Kid Icarus. I didn't really enjoy Luigi's Mansion 2 on 3DS. I rarely trade in games and I totally did with that one. Hopefully this is just a lesson learned and they port other 3DS games.
Id like there to be more open world top down Zelda games. A link Between Worlds is my all time favorite Zelda game and not another franchise taking the mantel. It's been over a decade, I'd really like to see another like that. But it's own world and villain like Minish Cap.
@Tasuki dude if only. That game is the best. I'm just holding out now at this point that they'll release like a Zelda collection or something on the next console like they did on game cube. Maybe the collection will be called like "remasters and spiritual successors" and have all the hits over the WiiU and 3DS eras and the 3DS titles are upgraded to HD.
I like the look so much more than the Zelda oled, but it's only a handheld... I do take my switch everywhere, and mostly play handheld but hands are bigger, I don't think I can justify it, but Zelda special editions get me like Everytime.
@ShonenJump121 it looks like this is just the shovel knight campaign. Treasure trove has 4 (or 5) campaigns, which I actually like more than shovel knights. Id just get treasure trove. It's awesome, and will keep you busy. You also can get it physical, which I also prefer.
I do own treasure trove on 3DS, switch and WiiU, so I'm a fan for sure. The two questions I have lingering are if they have the ps4 and xbox bosses and if it's like $10. Id happily pick it up on a sale for like half of that in a year. Or straight out of the gate at $5, but I doubt it, I'm in no hurry. But I want to know what all is in there. Love yacht club, but want to spend my money on new games as well.
I've tried monster Hunter a few times and always end up trading it in. Not cup of tea unfortunately, but am grateful they are setting the trend for porting 3DS games. Lots of good one sin that library.
One thing that really draws me to Nintendo life is Alex's honesty in reviews. There are some games I don't agree with but I do agree here. The original was just ok, I was sad there were no portrait ghosts, and this hd rerelease looks almost identical. I'm glad 3 came out but even then it was a tad long for me, it's hard to beat the original.
Except the final boss is more on the unfair side.
I don't own any. The only ones that tempt me are the Dread ones. No space and kinda not that kind of gamer. I do think their cool and like I kinda implied, I get the appeal.
So I'm excited for this game, and if it ran on PS3 it has to run well on switch right? I don't care if it doesn't get updated visuals, I am not a switch owner for visuals. I just hope they treat it like Sonic Frontiers, just downgrade it and make it run on switch. I'm just in it for the fun.
I'd be happy with just a straight port. I don't like playing games on my phone and have a hard time gaming on my laptop, just feels inorganic since I do work on that thing too. Just port it to switch, be super sick if it came to NSO, but then I'd never own it as well.
Had a more difficult evening watching the boys alone while the wife got some time away this was a much appreciated article to see! Excited for tomorrow!
