Re: Strayed Lights Is Getting A Physical Switch Release, Pre-Orders Open Soon

obijuankanoobie

@Freek I just looked into video game plus I'll have to keep it in mind for the future!

My only problem, and maybe I'm just bitter more than anything, but I only learned about The Messenger last year and LOVED it. So I wanted to get a physical cart and limited run games had it like 5 years ago and now it's hundreds on eBay.

So like games that I'm looking forward to, like if Plucky Squire has a physical release through them I'll get it and I'm sure it'll be just fine. It's just games I learns bout years later that I get burned through them.

Re: Saber Interactive CEO Doesn't Think $70 Video Games Are Sustainable

All I ask is that I get what I paid for. For example Mario Wonder, I got what I paid for. Sonic Superstars, I should have been given a wire transfer for playing.

In all seriousness, especially Nintendo, I trust them to treat me right. Even though Satori isn't there anymore his legacy still echos from the 3DS days. I feel like I'm well taken care of a customer. Maybe make sure all remakes/remasters are all like $40, but other than that i cant complain.

I've had 4 on my wish list for a while I grew up on 1 & 2 on GC. I remember really enjoying them both. I've literally never heard or played the 3rd one but considering the story of the first two I don't think I'll be lost jumping to the 4th. Its definitely made me more interested now that it's got a physical release coming.

Re: GameStop Hit By Layoffs As Analyst Predicts 'Unsustainable' Sales Decline

obijuankanoobie

I feel like a vacuum is forming, GameStop hasn't been hardly anyone's first pick for years. My hope is that a new chain, or a smaller existing chain, that's kind of everything we love about our smaller retro stores, steps up. Better environment, deals, employees. I know it would hurt a lot of people in GameStop fell that like work there, but for the industry, I think it would make things better.

Or GameStop takes a 180 I'd be happy with that too. It's happened before, like subway stepping up their game like a decade ago.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd March)

obijuankanoobie

I've been playing Earthbound beginnings which as described in the review here is a bit "Grindy" but I feel like I've spent much more time grinding in a Pokemon game before. Plus with the rewind function I'm able to save my skin a lot more and waste less time than if I just let my team mates die. So far it's a good, would recommend. It is a long one so far. I don't even think I'm halfway done and my NSO says I've sunk something 400+ minutes into the game so like 6+ hours already.

Re: Sega Reports 'Sluggish' Sales Of Sonic Superstars And Other Major Titles

obijuankanoobie

The game is not polished and really not that fun. I have 150 hours in Sonic Mania on my switch, it's my most played game because it's just fun. It'll probably never happen again but a Sonic Mania sequel would be the way to go. I only put 5 hours into superstars and like once a week I'll say " it wasn't that bad was it? And Play for maybe 3 minutes and realize it was.

I recently played Sonic Advance 3 again and that game was polished and really fun, so I know Sonic team had what it takes at one point to create a new Sonic, I'm not sure what it'll take for that to happen again. I just don't trust them.

Re: Soapbox: An Ode To Marble Garden, Sonic The Hedgehog 3's Best Zone

obijuankanoobie

Ice cap is my favorite from Sonic 3 it was probably the first zone where I really understood the branching paths since for years I had no idea there was water in it! It blew my mind and then finding big rings in there was all the more exciting. Also the song is insane. Such a shame origins doesn't have it.

I "like" marble garden but I don't think the music is super great. And that act two boss fight is kind of a nightmare for me still.

Re: Sonic Superstars Receives Small Update On Switch

@TheMegaMarshtomp something I enjoyed about sonic games on the Genesis was the ability to memorize the levels. It's like baby's first speedrun. In most stages, especially sonic 2&3 you can really get a rhythm down in most levels. Mania especially does it well, since those fans knew what made it fun in the first place.

Superstars isn't built that way. They have no idea why people like Sonic.

Re: Sea Of Stars Developer Sabotage Replacing 'The Completionist' NPC

obijuankanoobie

I don't know his accusers at all, but I have watched their videos with some solid points against Jirrard.
Jirrard made a mistake, probably a lot of mistakes to get to where he is. Talking about it publicly was probably terrifying to think about but with how it played out probably would have been the best move with hindsight.
I haven't picked up sea of stars yet but it makes me sad for Jirrard. I don't see why they felt it was necessary to patch him out, but maybe I just have too much empathy for the situation and don't see it as seriously as Sabotage does. Im not sure where he's going after this, but I hope he can recover, whether on YouTube or just switching careers.
I always loved tuning into his show, I don't have a lot of nerdy friends and I feel like we've always had a similar taste, helps me know what to pick up when I have extra cash or see an eShop deal.

Re: Feature: Why I Still Love My Wii U

I still love my WiiU as well, I love finding hidden gems on the console, I still play it at least once a week. I am glad that the switch came out and works like it does but I'm so happy Nintendo made the WiiU.

Re: Sega's Executive Director Wants Sonic Games And Movies To "Surpass Mario"

obijuankanoobie

@Samalik Good point I think superstars is a step in the right direction for sure. It's definately a good game. But if you want to surpass mario you gotta get your best team.

I also agree with ya I don't want Christian to be a slave or anything to making Sonic games. Probably just better stated is just you gotta get people that really care and the Mania team really cared. I don't get the same feeling with Superstars. I'm on my second playthrough and am not super impressed whereas Mania I have almost 150 hours in.

Re: Sega's Executive Director Wants Sonic Games And Movies To "Surpass Mario"

obijuankanoobie

They're gonna need to hire Christian Whitehead full time and dissolve Sonic Team if they are serious about trying that. Mania is the last game with wide spread appeal and near perfect scores.

On the plus side their movies have done well but not like the Mario movie. As a classic Sonic fan I share the same hope but i have a hard time seeing how it can be possible without the Mania team.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sonic Superstars?

obijuankanoobie

The music is top notch, the gameplay is awesome, but the glaring issue for me has been polish. I'm kinda a 2D Sonic nerd. I have over 140 hours clocked in on Mania alone and then there's time on the classics I have no idea about on my Genesis growing up. There is just so many times where Sonic is transitioning from level to level that he gets spit out of a pipe or something there's no charm he just "sticks" the landing. I do love their little angry poses for boss fights. But any animal that hops away if it bumps into a wall just like spins and disappears, rather than hopping it's way off screen by making bigger hops to clear obstacles like previous games did. There are other animations here and there that have simple issues like that as well, like Amy is emotionless when swinging her hammer where as in origins she gets a serious face.

I think this game is really great, I want more like it, but the lack of polish for me, coming from Mania, and the likes, is hard to not feel disappointed.
