@Superick $400 is so much more doable than $500, so im hopeful. I'm honestly still holding out hope for $350 and they drop the price of all switch models just by $50.
@NinChocolate I just played through Warioland 4 for the first time since my childhood and I forgot just how good the series is, hopefully one day it'll have a comeback.
Man I hope MP4 is something I'd like. I love the sidescroller metroids but the 3D I've never really enjoyed, I liked watching my brother play them grow up, but thats about it. Also I really really hope the new pokemon is good, I miss looking forward to their releases, they have just been hard to believe in.
Otherwise I might pick up DK, I never got returns before, I almost did on 3DS. I'll wait for the review to see which system it'd be better to get it on.
@AJWolfTill you make a good point, logical fallacy, hasty generalization. I just was way surprised, sounds like everyone was, so I should have assumed it's not the norm with them.
In high school I wanted to revisit the game and picked up a cart and about 5 years ago I learned it was a fake. I got a legit copy sometime within the last year and stopped in the graveyard section of the game. Just kinda lost interest.
I have a hard time ranking it high on my lists because of all of the silly fetch quests, which is also part of the reason why I stopped in the graveyard. You go to Dampe to get a key, you get the key, a bird steals the key, Dampe tells you to go get the key, you retrieve the key within seconds from the bird and then turn around to give the key back to Dampe so he can open the gate.
Why did he give it to you then?? What was the point of all that?
It's stuff like that just feels like padding that really rubs me poorly in the game. I loved it as a lad, but find it difficult to revisit, even though I do love the overall narrative (no spoilers here), art style, core mechanics and dungeon themes. It just feels like they had enough ideas for a 8 hour game and really wanted it to land in the 20 hours instead.
Not a bad Zelda by any means, just wouldn't recommend it before other giants like A Link Between Worlds.
Not to get too churchie on a video game website, but it reminds me of the parable of the laborers in the vineyard where people who worked all day were paid the same as those who only worked an hour and those that worked all day were upset about it.
I didn't get it right away because I didn't see the value in it. I think in both situations early adopters and people that worked at the beginning of the day are reasonably upset, but that's what those early birds signed up for.
I'm grateful as a late adopter of the NSO+Expansion pack I don't have to pay more than those who paid day 1. For me it's been worth it, library was great when I came in and I still pay the same as those first people when the library wasn't as flushed out. I'm also grateful that there's no penalty for being a late adopter.
Ive only touched the sonic half so far but am so pleased. I'm getting more and more sensitive to frame drops and pop in and it's been rock solid for me. Easily the best 3D Sonic game I've ever played. 2D, mania is still king but it isn't half bad either.
@Serpenterror I think thats a neat concept! I have the 3DS version and I don't think it really is anything to write home about. I'll have to play it again to see, but would be neat!
@Porky another article on the site, that was posted in the last week or so, said that the og ran at 720 and this new one on switch runs at 1080. They also said frame rate on the og was 30, so technically the new version on switch should look better than the original. If I have time I'll try and find the article and post a link. But it was pretty recent
The cut scene with knuckles is lame but to be fair those little cut scenes were always cringe. The Amy thing with pushing her face was kinda funny? At least showed some character. So now she's just more boring, but I don't think any of us are playing sonic games for the story.
I'm ok with it no harm no foul except the weird grabs tummy animation.
@TheBigK there is a demo! I played it and I think it honestly looks alright, not ugly by any means, but I did find it kinda boring, glad there was a demo try it out. And in the demo I didn't see any frame drops but in all versions I heard plenty of talk about pop in.
When I hear Tee Lopes composed a game I pick it up. I didn't really like Berserk Boy, but I still picked it up sound track is way good! I listen to the Mania and Shredders Revenge soundtrack near daily. And have played Mania countless times (160 hours and counting) so grateful for Tee Lopes. Would totally go see him in concert.
@8bit-Man Ya terastallization (or however you spell it) made me really not want to try the newer games. I didn't play any of the 3DS games but the mega evolutions seemed cool enough, not sure how it affected gameplay but overall maybe just don't do any of that haha.
I'm only a few hours into Echoes of Wisdom and hadn't made the "gotta catch em all" connection. I like the idea, Pokemon has become disinteresting to me, I loved it growing up so I'd be happy to see an awesome come back.
That's pretty neat, hadn't heard of it. I feel like the DS Zelda games are some of the ugliest so it's crazy to see this and think it could have possibly looked better. Very impressive
I mean switch is at least as powerful as a PS3 I imagine ( got no clue honestly) and it ran great back in the day. Maybe the sonic half will act more like a port on switch and Shadow will need to be toned down.
My wife and I recently beat It Takes 2 and it totally deserves all the praise it's gotten, very well done, best couch co-op game I've seen in a long time.
@GregamanX you're making me think maybe I was too harsh! Haha maybe it isn't so bad, but I remember the lighting being crazy for sure in the cut scenes and pop in being nuts. I did only get through the first hour or so before deciding to see if I could borrow it from someone, so then going to PS4 was a huge improvement.
@Tipehtfomottob Well textures are pretty rough, and in cut scenes the models and lighting are REALLY rough, you'll see some frame rate drops, and tons of pop in. It just looks like watching Shrek before the final render, so I can't recommend it on Switch. It's a great game though! If you have a buddy with a PS4 I'd recommend it!
I've said this was my most anticipated game of the year but held off on getting it after the review. I normally don't think performance and stuff bothers me but It takes 2 on Switch to me was rather unplayable and I ended up just borrowing a friend's old PS4 to play it.
Plucky Squire I truly want to own. Hopefully it keeps getting better. Please let us know if it keeps getting patched up!
I think that the NSO+Expansion Pack family plan is a total value for me. We split it 8 ways so it's only $10 a year and it's pretty much a means of me trying out a lot of legendary games I've never touched, legally and pretty cost effective as well, to help me decide if I want to pick em up physically.
Without it I'd never have tried earthbound, the Donkey Kong Country games, gun star heroes, Beyond Oasis, Star Fox on SNES, Pilot Wings, Demons Crest, Shinobi, Contra, and thats all just in SNES and Genesis!
I also am not in love with N64 and already have the Zelda games on GameCube and 3DS so this is just a nice addition for me to try stuff out.
I hated NSO at first but once I got the family plan and reframed my mindset I've loved it, I wouldn't want to go back to buying the classics every console generation again.
Don't get me wrong if they'd offer it, I'm faithful to a fault and would totally buy Majora's Mask and Super Metroid and the like, and I would love more megamans and castvanias but with what we have I'm pretty pleased.
I'm excited for whatever they are planning to add, I'm not sure they are teasing anything crazy but I'm still looking forward to it.
I liked Mario party 4 growing up but that's about all I can say for the franchise. It's probably great but with limited time and resources I don't think I'll buy a Mario party ever again.
I mean I'm almost exclusively a handheld player but I use the OLED model. It doesn't make any sense to me to get a worse screen. I also don't have any lites or played on one but I imagine the smaller form factor is less comfortable as well.

Ok Jim fair, but neither are great, it's like a lumpy potatoes compared to a potato.

A guy can dream.
Re: Sega Delisting 'Mega Drive Classics' On Switch eShop This December
I feel optimistic that this might mean we get some new Genesis on NSO, I haven't seen that needle move in like a year or more.

Holy cow! That's a ton of NSO this month! We had the 2 GBA games earlier this month and 3 N64, I could get used to this kinda release schedule!
