I'm pleased to see sales down 40%. I don't want to see Pokemon doing badly... I just want to see better Pokemon games. We need a new developer on it AND/OR a more talented team.

It feels like Nintendo are running into a spot of bother lately. I am seeing a lot of fatigue with Switch. This is a good example... the market is already saturated with relatively recent, relatively similar Pokemon games. Rolling out another average game just isn't going to work... it's like you caught us with this last time, and we're not going to buy the same thing again. It needed to be better.

I genuinely fear Metroid Prime 4 is going to get the same response. We've had two incredible Metroid games, by Metroid release timeliness historically they are both REALLY recent releases too, and Prime 4 is looking like yet more of the same.

There's definitely fatigue.

Every year since Switch launched I've bought less and less! I put it down to getting bored of playing the same stuff over and over again. I actually looked this up a few months ago and I went from buying 30 games in Switch 1 year 1 to buying just 2 games on Switch 2 this year.

I'm spending my time and my money on retro games instead.

@ShieldHero Odyssey is my least favourite 3D Mario and Wonder is my least favourite 2D Mario! I'm in a minority, but you should definitely be playing some other Mario games just in case you are also in that same minority!

Galaxy and Galaxy 2 when they re-release on Switch next month is a good place to start!

@MattmanForever time waits for no-one. Its September... Peak new release time. Of course I'm not revisiting a game from months ago!

It should have been 60fps day one. I was put off by the 30fps at launch and I've already moved on now. So, nope. Sorry!

December release would actually be really nice! I can't remember the last major Nintendo release that came in December.

It's a decent game. I still feel the same as when it came out on Gamecube though... why Pac Man?

It's like they didn't trust themselves to be able to make a decent adventure game and so has to use an iconic character from the start.

This game would be even better if it had original characters. The Pac Man element actually makes it worse.

Why is this 30fps?! Switch should be able to handle this at 60fps unless they've done something I'm missing?!

I think there's a Mario Sports title in the works for Q1 2026. Baseball seems the most likely. A Wario Land title though... that would be exciting.

@CutchuSlow If Xenoblade and Fire Emblem could just make their way to the back of the queue and stop jumping in front of others... I do believe I'd finally be happy!

Metroid Prime 4 is surely November.

Kirby Air Riders could be a December release! Which is exciting as that would be the first major December game from Nintendo for quite a long time, right?

Disappointed to potentially not see anything landing in September... but a December release would be good compromise.

Eurgh it feels like Pokemon is in such a hole at the moment. When you consider how enormously successful the Switch era has been, what on earth went wrong with Pokemon during this time?

Also, as others have said, it would be such a simple win for them to announce a couple of Pokemon games for the NSO service. But they can't even manage this.

@dskatter I'd agree with your assessment if this was a PS5 game. However it's a PS4 game... it's also a very core game. I'll be keen to see how the sales do because I believe the audience you have described is minimal.

I can't be the only person who is turning these down. It's massively overpriced.

I just don't get it. Why pay such a high price for a compromised version of an old game? It makes no sense to me.

How about a new Mario Baseball game in March 2026?

I feel like this rumoured Direct will reveal either a new Yoshi game or a new Mario Sports game for Q1 2026.

Why did they make it so cheap? £40 and a better build makes more sense. £25 is really cheap, so I'm not surprised people have experienced things breaking off. I'll avoid, sorry.

A couple of things to consider also...

1. Why would M rated games be mixed in with the others when they have seperate Apps now? Forsaken shouldn't be there, right?

2. How do we know these 5 slots are unreleased games? Donkey Kong 64's packshot is similar to Banjo Kazooie (from memory) and must look near identical when blurred?

So yea, those two points alone leave me thoroughly unconvinced!

Seems to be a few freak cases. However one thing I think we should all be very aware of is the risk of this happening if you extend the play time with a remote battery pack. I think my key takeaway from this is to play until the battery is nearly depleted, then charge it back up whilst it's turned off, and only once it's charged again consider playing the next session.

Surely this is just law of averages in play? Nintendo is merely a victim of their success. The more units they sell, the more likely some have an issue.

If you bought 100 batteries. How many would you expect to have an issue? 0 right? OK. What if you bought 10,000 batteries? And what if you bought 4.5 million?!

It's a really nice design and build. The picture quality is absolutely fine for the job - a PIP of your face. I highly recommend it.

Not impressed with the Switch 2 battery so far! I'm hoping there's a patch coming soon that can help optimise the battery so it performs better.

@Pillowpants I couldn't agree more. The way the Switches, Coins and P Blocks are just a number in the corner and the fact there's no coin counter despite the coins unlocking vehicles are massive red flags for me. Free Roam feels like a last minute addition...

Overall, I'm a bit underwhelmed!

Free Roam looks nice, but it's short on content and rewards. One thing that's really bizarre is that you can stumble upon the race tracks, but you can't go into a race? Such an easy win for them to have designed a "circuit" version or every track for a more traditional 3 lap course that you unlock in Free Roam.

Nintendo are the ones that set the bar so high on their games... this is missing the mark for me.

LOADS to love in this game too. It's the icing and the cherry on top that are missing.

Seems like an honest and isolated mistake to me. Someone just trying to make the day run smoother for everyone, but perhaps should have thought about it a bit more first.

@Zufolobelisk Oh give over! It's called a Pro controller purely as a marketing term to make you, me and everyone else feel a little bit special inside. The amount of people who actually Game as a profession is miniscule and not the reason, even in the slightest, as to why this exists!

A case for a controller is just plain stupid! This is the kind of face palm stuff people will look back on...

Genki deserve everything that's coming their way. They have nothing of their own, they just exist from feeding off other businesses success. Nothing new there, but the way they then undermine one of those businesses and treat them with such contempt. Scummy business practice and it will be the end of them.

Reputation is the key to a successful business. Genki's reputation is gone forever.

There's just too many great games to spend the best part of 20 hours on an average one. And that's before you factor in people's backlogs and retro games too!

Sorry but Ubisoft need to improve their games. They're stuck in the past and cut all the corners.

I'm fully digital on Switch and will be with Switch 2. I have no interest in collecting modern games because there's just too many anyway - and so much junk. I'll be cherry picking the best games so I may as well have the convenience.

Besides, I'm already collecting for.older systems... there's only so much money to go around and Nintendo's frankly mis-managament of the eShop is a big reason why I'm not spending there.

Also, I have the PlayStation Portal. Why am I going to spend full price for Switch 2 ports of old games that I can buy for a fraction of the price, with better performance and graphics on my Portal. It makes no sense. You can literally get a Portal for free by buying 6 old PS5 games instead of the same 6 at full price on Switch 2. Madness.

Switch 2 will be for the exclusives only. Whi h amusingly is the same position Nintendo have been in for decades....

I can't stand LEGO (which is just as well as I spend too much elsewhere!) but surely even the biggest LEGO fans must find these Animal Crossing sets very uninspiring.

Too little too late. The sorry state of the eShop is the reason I got heavily into Analogue Pocket these past 2 years. Easily a thousand pounds that didn't go to the eShop from me - and I know I'm not alone.

2021 I got stung so many times by utter rubbish on the eShop. I stopped shopping.

@LikelySatan I've seen a few responses mentioning Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong... this misses my point. Nintendo are the ones saying games can release in summer... and those are their games they are releasing!

My tumbleweed is in reference to the fact NO ONE ElSE releases a major game in the summer. Nintendo knows something that EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony, Microsoft don't? I highly doubt it.

Mario Kart World would sell more if it launched in November versus June.

Oh and sorry... it's a bit rich for Nintendo to even suggest this when they are literally bundling the game with the console. That's a tactic that screams "uh oh we're launching in summer". Or did I miss something?!

They blatantly missed their target release date which was obviously Q1! Switch was successful in Q1 - why would you not do the same again?! Who goes "nah, let's wait a few months for the sun to come out!" Bowser is spinning the PR machine lol

This is driven by retail. Its like the final stand for games on shelves in shops before the whole thing goes fully digital.

It's an embarrassing approach to selling videogames in 2025 and shows just how desperate the bricks and mortar retailers are. It's time to pack up shop.

Nice guide NL and I'm very pleased that the link to pre-order the Gamecube controller works for everyone now - so I finally got mine ordered!

So many coffee table gaming books release! They do know that 1. A lot of people don't even have a coffee table anymore 2. The trend is actually to NOT have a house full of clutter 3. The target audience for this already has a dozen big Pokemon books that sit awkwardly on a shelf they don't fit on and 4. And perhaps most pertinent of all... why a book again?! Make an interactive digital experience using AR/VR instead. This sort of project is crying out for something interactive.

As I've said before, and I'm only half joking... I'm one coffee table book away from a divorce!!

I went elsewhere. Nintendo store have messed up launch day delivery for me before, getting it 2 days later(!) so no thanks. I've got 1 with EE and 1 with Argos.

NL are docked points for not mentioning the fact Super Monkey Ball was easily one of the biggest highlights of the GameCube launch.

Switch 2 is looking good. I'd like to know when MP4 is launching... and I'd like the reassurance that we will be getting a new Mario at Christmas.
