Possibly the worst Direct ever. I can't believe how far from the mark they are with most of this.

I've been having loads of fun with the Mysterious Book! I think it's the best Yoshi game they've made.

I recently finished Metroid Prime 4 and I can only imagine how great a Metroid game we COULD have had if it had been developed with even HALF the love and craft that Yoshi received.

No exaggeration! I would swap NL's review scores for these two game. MP4 was utterly dreadful, generic rubbish whilst Yoshi is gloriously creative and fresh.

@NintendoWife June Direct will open with Ocarina Of Time Remake and close with a new 3D Mario.

It's the Nintendo "one two punch" that Switch 2 desperately needs in order for the software attach rate to improve.

@brendathecat I think the challenge will be getting 100%. Based solely on the limited detail in the trailer, it seems to me that its a very similar mechanic to New Pokemon Snap whereby you have to "collect" lots of different "scenarios" with each of the creatures. So the challenge is attempting to find all those scenarios.

This is the first time I've seen a Nintendo Life review that is so far from the truth. Wing a mark or two off is absolutely fine - Big parts of games are subjective of course.

However, I am a huge Metroid fan. I am posting this as a warning to anyone that hasn't bought this game yet... Metroid Prime 4 is a FOUR out of 10 game.

Absolutely no exaggeration whatsoever. The Nintendo Life score, and I say this as a BIG NL fan that has been ACTIVE on the site for many, many years, is disgraceful. This game is nowhere near a 9.

Retro Studios and Nintendo absolutely butchered it. One of the worst gaming experiences I have had - in terms of what I wanted and expected versus what I received.

I played the first one all the way and I think I was just about OK with it because it was just Midgar. The approach they took with the game worked OK in that contained setting and I liked the added details to the location.

The second one I just slogged it out to reach Cosmo Canyon. And I've long since abandoned it now. I don't think it's possible to put into words how disappointing this "remake" is. It took almost every brilliant aspect of the original game and destroyed them - the only one exception is the soundtrack. That is truly spectacular.

I have zero hopes for the third game.

A Star Fox game in 2026 and a Star Fox movie in 2028 is a good start Nintendo, but I still don't accept your apology for leaving the IP in the dark for so long!!!! 😉

I always felt this SHOULD be based on the second movie.

This could be the very best Alien game ever made.

@Johnny_Arthur I recently completed Alien 3 on the Game Gear and I thought it was great!

For me it is very simple what I want.

On rails shooter moves you between the planets of the Lylat System with a Metroid style on-the-ground shooter on the planets.

Essentially what Metroid Prime 4 should have done but they decided on a motorbike instead...

Plenty of fun, but I'm never watching it again.

The price increases are absolutely fair and proper.

The issue is that nobody is receiving anywhere near relative pay rises.

The wealthy few are taking too much and we need a huge reset. And I mean huge... that entry level management job that has been hovering around £30k the last 10 years or so needs to be £40k. No exaggeration!

Given the amount of hardware that Nintendo has shifted, and given the huge profit margins on the eShop I genuinely find it staggering that they haven't managed to get a single game in the top 10.

Sorry but in 2026 this is just irresponsible landfill.

@Misima Eh? Nobody is suggesting you buy these to replace the existing ones you already have. It's another choice for anyone that wants or needs a new pair - either due to loss, breakage or wanting to play multiplayer.

I genuinely still feel the sting from buying Aces. I'm just not prepared to do it again.

I'm not buying anywhere near as many games on eShop for similar reasons to be honest. Too many bad experiences down the years.

I'm not indicative of everyone, not at all, but my next software purchase for Switch 2 will only be a big AAA title at this point. I'm just not prepared to lay down the money on upgrades, ports or second tier new releases that offer little on the Switch experience I already feel disappointed about.

EDIT: Sorry I should add that there were plenty of great Switch games too. Thats part of the problem ultimately... the bar has been set. What is Switch 2 offering me right now?

I think people are way too quick to defend the alarming ignorance of the Netflix CEO's.

The LEGO videogames collectively, which they would have full access to, make up one of the biggest videogame franchises in existence. The fact they are suitable for all ages makes them even more powerful.

I'm not surprised they've been desperate to buy Warner Brothers now. Clearly they needed to bring in some ACTUAL knowledge and talent.

I'm pleased to see sales down 40%. I don't want to see Pokemon doing badly... I just want to see better Pokemon games. We need a new developer on it AND/OR a more talented team.

It feels like Nintendo are running into a spot of bother lately. I am seeing a lot of fatigue with Switch. This is a good example... the market is already saturated with relatively recent, relatively similar Pokemon games. Rolling out another average game just isn't going to work... it's like you caught us with this last time, and we're not going to buy the same thing again. It needed to be better.

I genuinely fear Metroid Prime 4 is going to get the same response. We've had two incredible Metroid games, by Metroid release timeliness historically they are both REALLY recent releases too, and Prime 4 is looking like yet more of the same.

There's definitely fatigue.

Every year since Switch launched I've bought less and less! I put it down to getting bored of playing the same stuff over and over again. I actually looked this up a few months ago and I went from buying 30 games in Switch 1 year 1 to buying just 2 games on Switch 2 this year.

I'm spending my time and my money on retro games instead.

@ShieldHero Odyssey is my least favourite 3D Mario and Wonder is my least favourite 2D Mario! I'm in a minority, but you should definitely be playing some other Mario games just in case you are also in that same minority!

Galaxy and Galaxy 2 when they re-release on Switch next month is a good place to start!

It should have been 60fps day one. I was put off by the 30fps at launch and I've already moved on now. So, nope. Sorry!

December release would actually be really nice! I can't remember the last major Nintendo release that came in December.

It's a decent game. I still feel the same as when it came out on Gamecube though... why Pac Man?

It's like they didn't trust themselves to be able to make a decent adventure game and so has to use an iconic character from the start.

This game would be even better if it had original characters. The Pac Man element actually makes it worse.

I think there's a Mario Sports title in the works for Q1 2026. Baseball seems the most likely. A Wario Land title though... that would be exciting.

@CutchuSlow If Xenoblade and Fire Emblem could just make their way to the back of the queue and stop jumping in front of others... I do believe I'd finally be happy!

Kirby Air Riders could be a December release! Which is exciting as that would be the first major December game from Nintendo for quite a long time, right?

Disappointed to potentially not see anything landing in September... but a December release would be good compromise.

Eurgh it feels like Pokemon is in such a hole at the moment. When you consider how enormously successful the Switch era has been, what on earth went wrong with Pokemon during this time?

Also, as others have said, it would be such a simple win for them to announce a couple of Pokemon games for the NSO service. But they can't even manage this.

@dskatter I'd agree with your assessment if this was a PS5 game. However it's a PS4 game... it's also a very core game. I'll be keen to see how the sales do because I believe the audience you have described is minimal.

I can't be the only person who is turning these down. It's massively overpriced.

I just don't get it. Why pay such a high price for a compromised version of an old game? It makes no sense to me.

How about a new Mario Baseball game in March 2026?

I feel like this rumoured Direct will reveal either a new Yoshi game or a new Mario Sports game for Q1 2026.

Why did they make it so cheap? £40 and a better build makes more sense. £25 is really cheap, so I'm not surprised people have experienced things breaking off. I'll avoid, sorry.

A couple of things to consider also...

1. Why would M rated games be mixed in with the others when they have seperate Apps now? Forsaken shouldn't be there, right?

2. How do we know these 5 slots are unreleased games? Donkey Kong 64's packshot is similar to Banjo Kazooie (from memory) and must look near identical when blurred?

So yea, those two points alone leave me thoroughly unconvinced!

Seems to be a few freak cases. However one thing I think we should all be very aware of is the risk of this happening if you extend the play time with a remote battery pack. I think my key takeaway from this is to play until the battery is nearly depleted, then charge it back up whilst it's turned off, and only once it's charged again consider playing the next session.

Surely this is just law of averages in play? Nintendo is merely a victim of their success. The more units they sell, the more likely some have an issue.

If you bought 100 batteries. How many would you expect to have an issue? 0 right? OK. What if you bought 10,000 batteries? And what if you bought 4.5 million?!

It's a really nice design and build. The picture quality is absolutely fine for the job - a PIP of your face. I highly recommend it.

Not impressed with the Switch 2 battery so far! I'm hoping there's a patch coming soon that can help optimise the battery so it performs better.

@Pillowpants I couldn't agree more. The way the Switches, Coins and P Blocks are just a number in the corner and the fact there's no coin counter despite the coins unlocking vehicles are massive red flags for me. Free Roam feels like a last minute addition...

Overall, I'm a bit underwhelmed!

Free Roam looks nice, but it's short on content and rewards. One thing that's really bizarre is that you can stumble upon the race tracks, but you can't go into a race? Such an easy win for them to have designed a "circuit" version or every track for a more traditional 3 lap course that you unlock in Free Roam.

Nintendo are the ones that set the bar so high on their games... this is missing the mark for me.

LOADS to love in this game too. It's the icing and the cherry on top that are missing.
