Lots of great choices already mentioned in the comments like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force III all 3 scenarios, Skies of Arcadia, etc. Thinking outside the box a little, would it be possible to make a peripheral that could make a Joycon into a makeshift light gun? Thinking about House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Lost World making a comeback. I wish there was a way to do light gun style games on modern TVs.
I was looking forward to playing online with some of my friends over in Europe. I'll vote with my wallet and refuse to buy until they allow worldwide online multiplayer.
Nice! Just pre-ordered a regular PS4 version from SLG. Already pre-ordered a special edition from LRG. Ys Origin on PS4 was my entry point to the series and it quickly became one of my favorite series ever. Still my 2nd favorite Ys game behind Ys VIII, I hope we get Oath in Felghana, Seven, Memories of Celceta too since those are all must plays as well. Heck just bring the whole series to everything!
@Rpg-lover That was my usual party comp as well. Shulk as damage, Reyn Time as tank, Sharla as healer. But for some reason I've never been able to get "Rolly polly keep on rolling!" out of my head.
@Ooyah Congrats of Ys VIII. It's a top 15 all time game for me, played through it twice (once each on PS4 and Switch) and I'll definitely give it a replay someday.
@Yanina Yeah I can't believe FF6 isn't on Switch yet either. But Square-Enix have been bringing their old RPGs over, hopefully FF1-6 and Dragon Quest 4-9 will all make it over in some form (not the mobile versions I hope.)
It reminds me of ActRaiser with the 2D action mixed with a life sim. Looks great and should hopefully be way better than that ActRaiser spiritual successor published by Sega last year that was so disappointing. Sol Something?
I was expecting nothing, but got a release year for SMT5 (I was expecting it to be 2022) and SMT3 Remaster. So the mini direct greatly exceeded my expectations.
So much wrong with the North America cover. Top left is clearly a building from Bomb Man's stage in MM1. Why is Dr. Light hiding behind Crash Man and pointing at Mega Man? And what's the deal with that ladder in the lava pool? If one falls into a lava pool, are they going to live long enough to swim to the ladder and climb out? Also if Quickman's design was cannon I'd have to find a new avatar. Japan is the winner BTW. Europe for hilarity, North America for personal nostalgia.
@Moroboshi876 Ys Origin is fine as a starting point, it was my first Ys game. If anything playing Origin first will give you more context of the world if you were ever to play Ys 1 and 2. That's the beauty of the Ys series, it shares the same world, and every game except this one has Adol Christin as the main character, but they can be played in any order.
@Ooyah Ys Origin takes place 700 years before Ys 1 so no Adol, no Dogi. Yunica and Hugo are great though and the story really sets up the world of Ys. I've played the whole series and this is my 2nd favorite behind 8. I hope the lack of Adol isn't a deal breaker for you, the game is awesome.
Ys-E day one purchase for me. This was my first Ys game and I don't have a physical copy so that solves that. Possibly the best soundtrack in the series. Keep 'em coming!
@gcunit Trails of Cold Steel refers to the railroad tracks in the Erebonian Empire, their primary method of travel. Trails in the Sky takes place in the Kingdom of Liberl where they primarily travel via airships.
For those waiting on Switch ports of ToCS 1 and 2, don't hold your breath. XSEED owns the rights to those games, and while they've been porting their Falcom back-catalogue to PC, they haven't been doing any console ports. For example, Ys: Memories of Celceta and ToCS 1 and 2 for PS4 were developed by Falcom themselves in Japan, later released in the West with an updated localization by XSEED. Falcom doesn't develop games for Switch. Ys 8, 9, ToCS 3 and 4 Switch ports are made by Nippon Ichi Software, but they don't have the rights to the older Falcom games, XSEED does. So yeah, lots of confusing legal stuff going on. It's too bad, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the earlier games coming to Switch any time soon. I started with ToCS 1-3 on PS4, then played Trails in the Sky trilogy on PC, love the series and I hope everyone who wants to play the series gets to play the whole thing. Still waiting for the Crossbell arc to be localized.
Can't wait to play it again and actually understand the story ("I'm sorry I don't speak Japanese." -Chris Farley) I'll double and triple dip on PS4 and Switch.
Huntdown reviewed very well here and in other places, but I never even saw it on the digital only top 30 best sellers list on the Eshop. It's really fun, currently 2nd for my GotY so far behind Streets of Rage 4 (unless Xenoblade Chronicles DE is eligible, that would be #1.) So yeah I'd consider Huntdown an overlooked gem because it seems that it hasn't sold as well as it should.
Edit: Oops, I should have read the article before commenting, my bad. But still, play Huntdown if you haven't already
It could be a situation like when Final Fantasy 7,9,10 and 12 got announced for Switch during a Direct, and later that day also got announced for XBox. P4G getting announced for PC will bring viewers to their PC gaming showcase, and perhaps later it will be revealed for consoles as well. Kind of like a "first look exclusivity" type of deal.
Nintendo once again refusing to let The Last of Us Part 2 have a release date all to itself. (If the rumor is true.) TLoU 2 was supposed to come out the same day as Xenoblade Chronicles DE before the former got delayed.
@Ralizah I'm still tinkering with the gyro aiming settings, but yeah it's in there and it works. The gyro aiming is good, the enemies move pretty fast and I also kind of suck at FPS so it might be me. I'd put the gyro aiming below Splatoon 2, below Paladins, but above Fortnite and probably on the same level if not slightly better than Turok 2. This is after about an hour and a half of play. I hope this was helpful.
A variety pack this weekend. Castlevania: SotN, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Bloodstained: RotN Zangetsu mode, Streets of Rage 4, Salmon Run, Animal Crossing, Trails in the Sky the 3rd. That's about it I think.
The NGPC was such an underrated little handheld, I hope we get more titles in the future. Sonic Pocket Adventure (not as dirty as the title would suggest) and Metal Slug First Mission next!
@RPGamer It's disappointing more of their games aren't on current gen systems at all. I had to play Trails in the Sky trilogy, Ys Seven and Oath in Felghana on Steam even though I'm not a PC gamer in any way. At least my 2012 potato PC can run their games.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 29th)
A whole lot of Final Fantasy Tactics. First time playing it since 1998 and I actually plan on beating it this time around.
Re: Poll: What's The Best Final Fantasy Game On Nintendo Consoles?
Final Fantasy 6 (3 US) on a SNES hooked up to a CRT. Get off my lawn!

Re: Mediatonic Would Love To Bring Fall Guys To Other Platforms Further Down The Line
It's fun for short bursts. Kind of like a Mario Party battle royale with just mini games and no board.

@Rpg-lover Heropon very cool!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 8th)
Final Fantasy 6 (just beat it for the 6th time about an hour ago) and Xenoblade: Future Connected. After that time for a NG+ of Chrono Trigger.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 1st)
Final Fantasy 6, Catherine, Salmon Run, going to start Xenoblade Future Connected too.

Final Fantasy 6/3, (my SNES cart still holds saves!) The Outer Worlds on PS4 and Catherine on Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 18th)
Persona 5 Royal. Just made it to the 3rd semester. It's great!
Re: Feature: Upcoming Nintendo Switch RPGs To Look Out For In 2020
Ys Origin, Bravely Default 2, Baldo and FF CC for me. It would be great if we could get any info on SMT 5 or even P5S localization.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 11th)
Persona 5 Royal still. 88 hours in and on the 6th palace. This game is long. Love it though.

Mostly Persona 5 Royal. Taking my time with that one.

Finished Xenoblade Chronicles DE today, moving on to Ys: Memories of Celceta on PS4.

Trails in the Sky the 3rd, Street Fighter 5, Huntdown.
