The Switch already has an extensive library of games, but there's always room for more ports. While we've seen Nintendo and a number of other companies release a bunch of them over the past few years, there are still quite a lot of fantastic previous generation titles that could make the Switch.
The Japanese fanbase is so eager for more Switch ports that it decided to create a hashtag on Twitter. It translates to "Games I Want Ported To Nintendo Switch" (thanks, NintendoSoup), and allows Nintendo fans within this region to put forth their own suggestions.
Some of the titles suggested so far include Metroid Fusion, Xenoblade Chronicles X, F-Zero GX, Super Mario Sunshine, and even Star Fox Assault. On the third-party front, there are requests for games such as Phantasy Star Online, Baten Kaitos, Skies of Arcadia Legends, and Armored Core. Take a look below:
It seems Twitter users from other countries are now sharing their own Switch port suggestions as well. Some of the highlights include Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario 64, Golden Sun, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
We could easily keep listing these suggestions all day, so if you want to see more or even join in on the fun, check out the following hashtag on Twitter: #任天堂Switchに移植して欲しいゲームを語ろうぜ
Would you like to see any of the above games released on the Switch? What games would you personally like to see ported? Tell us below.

Wind waker hd is #1 for me
@rdm22 and every mario
Xenoblade chronicles X
I actually liked a lot about Starfox Zero. Sadly if they ported it to Switch they'd have to leave that horrible two screen dynamic behind.... wait a minute!
So happy to see Skies of Arcadia as a part of this.
Every Nintendo game ever. There, done.
Port every Nintendo game
What? 8 comments in and nothing about Persona 5.
We’re in the desert in desperate need of any water, and some people are asking for discontinued flavours of Tango from their childhoods.
I just want the Kingdom Hearts HD collection to come over. I don’t care about 3... I only want the original game on Switch.
every game! no arguments, quarantine fun
Dang, I would kill for an armored core collection
@chocolate_supra If only it would happen.
I want Pokemon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to be ported to Switch.
What I want to see:
It's the best game of the franchise, still looks great to this very day and there's been so much demand for it online that it's bound to sell atleast decently-well if ported.
It's easy money and would make a lot of people very happy. Win-win Nintendo, get on it!
If they could add full 30 player online support that'd be bloody insane, but I don't know if that's possible. Are there online racing games with that many players at once?
Especially Origins, as that one is bloody expensive nowadays, it never released here in Europe and I'm still hunting for an affordable copy...
There's plenty more to name, but this is what springs to mind for now.
fatal frame wii u
@gloom the original kh is my personal favorite of the bunch. All the sequels were too button smashy for my tastes
Since Atlus only listens to its Japanese audience, this essentially means P5 on Switch isn't happening. XD
I also want Mortal Kombat Trilogy, WWF Wrestling 2000, WWF No Mercy, South Park Rally, Banjo Kazooie, Pokemon Puzzle League, Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, Mario Kart 64, 2 Sonic Adventure games, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Colors, Sonic Lost World, 3 Sonic Boom games and 2 Sonic Storybook games to be ported to Switch
Xenoblade Chronicles X, the Xenosaga series, the Baten Kaitos series, Zelda Skyward Sword, Fire Emblem Awakening, every 3D Mario, the Golden Sun series, the Metroid Prime series, Star Fox Adventures, Meteoid Other M, The Last Story
@NinjaSyao What issues does Xenoblade Chronicles X have?
@Freddyfred Already exist on Wii U.
Naruto GNT 4 please or EX or a brand new title please !
I cant even be bothered to list my picks as i know nintendo wont do anything about it. All they seem to like porting is wii U stuff. Stuff all of their best IP's thats on the cube and 64.
@Ventilator so does Mario kart 8,DK Tropical Freeze, Toads treasure tracker and and that rediculous New super mario bros game and more but they still got the port treatment didnt they. Wind waker would make an absolute fortune if they ported that.
I want Pokemon Colosieum and Pokemon XD to be ported to Switch.
There's some good picks there. Mine would be...
Gamecube: Skies of Arcadia, Chibi-Robo, F-Zero GX
Wii: The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Skyward Sword
Wii U: Xenoblade X, Fatal Frame 5, Super Mario 3D World
3DS: Super Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion 1&2, OoT3D&MM3D, Ever Oasis, Fantasy Life.
@Freddyfred They already made the HD version of Windwaker for the WiiU, so this should be a no-brainer to be ported by Nintendo.
The rumor of the 3D Mario games coming to Switch is real.
Not sure about any other first party ports.
Only japanese tweeters could afford using a hashtag that long! ^^
My suggestions are some puzzlers:
I'd love to see Obduction on Switch.
Cyan Worlds, I implore you, do it even if you think the visual fidelity isn't all the way there.
Your great art will save the game.
And Mr. Jotathan Blow, you've certainly earned the pride that keeps you from porting The Witness to Switch, more than doubly so, but DANG. I really do think there's a crowd here who would love it. It's such a calm, beautiful, and deeply satisfying personal experience of discovery and "aha!" moments.
Finally, Stephen Lavelle, if you're reading this, show Switch owners why your puzzler is the HARDEST one.
Let's have Stephen's Sausage Roll for this summer.
It's okay, we've already had a decent schooling in mind-melting puzzle complexity with Baba is You.
They need to pull their fingers out of their bottoms and get on F-zero GX, waverace, Metroid prime trilogy and another Pilotwings game. Im getting bored of Mario games.
Ok if we’re playing this game:
@datamonkey your my kind of gamer 👌👌
Falcom's entire catalogue. Also Panzer Dragoon Saga Remake, not made by whoever did the Panzer Dragoon 1 Remake. Maybe Platinum?
We can all agree on one thing: every game should be ported to the Switch.
I mean, who wouldnt want their favorite games ported on switch? Its portable.
There are so many games that I would love to have ported to the Switch. Many of these I never finished, as I just don't get many opportunities to sit in front of the TV for hours, playing a game. And some are just old favourites.
Fallout 3 / New Vegas
Mass Effect Trilogy
Metroid Prime Trilogy
The Wind Waker HD
Twilight Princess HD
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Super Mario 3D World
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance / Radiant Dawn
Knights of the Old Republic I & II
Dragon Age: Origins
Demon souls, Red Dead Redemption 1 and Mass effect trilogy need to get to the switch (I actually bought my switch for ports not Nintendo games)
Suikoden. All of them. Nothing else.
Japan has amazing taste.
Sin & Punishment 2
Chibi Robo trilogy
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Though I guess I really want remasters of all those. Non-Nintendo ports:
PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ (not the sequel which we have and is not great)
@Daniel36 Yes!!! Even Suikoden Tactics.
As much as I want more ports, remakes, reboots, and remasters, I do also would like to see more new exclusive triple A titles for Switch from third parties other than just the typical indie games every time.
At this point I only want games I don’t already have legitimately in some format, so, if we’re port begging, in no particular order...
Batman Arkham Trilogy
GTA3 onwards (pass on 1&2)
Red Dead Redemption
Konami’s TMNT games
Metal Gear HD Collection
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Mega Man Legends Collection (including #3)
Ultra Street Fighter 4
PAC-Man World Trilogy
Untranslated Fire Emblems
Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love
Sonic 2006, Unleashed, Generations, 4 Episodes 1&2 combined
Final Fantasy 7 Compilation
@LavaTwilight Heck yeah!! I loved Suikoden 4, even more than I liked 5, and the way the story evolved in Tactics was brilliant.
People may complain about ports, but they are relatively simpler to do and serve to keep players spending money during the long periods they are working on completely new games. They can outsource ports to other companies as well.
Diddy Kong racing
@Kidfunkadelic83 well you clearly have good taste! 💪
@Thierfeu another great game. Imo its easily better than mario kart in every way. Level design, characters, story mode, alternate vehicles, boss battles.... Best kart racer ever imo.
Beyond Good and Evil for me. Oh and Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem.
I don’t think we’ll ever see Skyward Sword ported to anything. The whole game was built around the directional swordplay and it would be impossible to implement in portable mode.
Skies of Arcadia should have been out on the PS3 and 360 when SEGA were busy porting over JSR, Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure (which should also all be out on Switch!)
But will it 'go viral' like Sars2? Let's find out!
Mass Effect Trilogy
Deus Ex: HR/MD
phew, I’m not the only one to prefer it to MK64
@RadioHedgeFund You can do it in portable also using the gyro on a Switch Lite.
If they did all these ports, they wouldn't have time to make new games.
It would also harm the sale of new games. Store shelf and eShop space would be taken up by ports, meaning less visibility for new stuff.
It's nice to dream of our favourite games on our current hardware. But there's reasons they don't port everything.
Metroid Prime Trilogy, Eternal Darkness, MGS 2-5, Mario Galaxy 1-2, the list is endless.
@MrGawain You must be fun at parties.
If I could choose only ONE game, without a doubt:
You must have fun parties if this is the sort of thing you discuss.
Winter and Sadness 🤷♂️
I want new games.
@Thierfeu me too
Fallout 3 & New Vegas.
Splinter Cell Blacklist
I don't really get why so many people get excited by ports. Wouldn't it be nicer to have some original IPs coming out? I like my Switch, but I'm getting in the habit of calling it my Switchport already as it is.
at this point I just want actual new games to play
Ports: Mario 3D World, Xenoblade X, Zelda WW and TP.
Remasters: Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxys, Paper Mario TTYD, F-Zero GX and Zelda Skyward Sword.
Remakes: Earthbound and Eternal Darkness.
Here I am just wishing for pikmin 4.
Red Dead Redemption (first game is better than the second).
GTA 3 San Andreas
GTA 3 Vice City
Also I want Nintendo to bring back the F-Zero franchise and to overhaul the Kid Icarus franchise.
@Incarta There are entire studios dedicated to ports like these. Nintendo do don’t have to do them in house and using external studios would help support the industry as a whole.
Also eShop space is not limited and Nintendo seem happy for other studios to throw up whatever ports they have lying about. There would be zero harm in adding some themselves. They used to have the whole Virtual Console setup where most of their content was old games ported across.
But mostly, this is just people having fun. Let them.
DARK SOULS 3
I've been NOT playing dark souls so I don't get burned out when this inevitably happens
House of the dead. Duck hunt. Yoshi safari. And Zelda crossbow...
Tempted to chime in, but I don't know where to st... op.😅
Wind waker is the one I most want. I can play that game time and time again
Yay moar ports! Forget new games, we want ports!
@koekiemonster We want everything on Switch! I wish it lasts 6 years more lol
I want Star Fox and F-Zero from Nintendo.
I want Final Fantasy Tactics (all of them) and Tactics Ogre Let us Cling Together from Square.
Would love to see remakes of Fire Emblem games as well (pretty sure this is already happening).
I’d like to see the Megaman Legends games, the HD Zelda games and Skyward Sword, Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion and Eternal Darkness Sanity’s Requiem all ported over. As for Baten Kaitos and Skies of Arcadia I’d love to see them on the Switch but not as straight ports. Baten Kaitos needs at least the option to use its prequel’s unified deck system and Skies of Arcadia needs its encounter rate lowered its still frustratingly high in the Gamecube version.
I would love some of the following:
and......Bring back the Virtual Console só i could buy some gb/gba games! 🤞
Spy vs Spy (NES)
Eternal Champions (SG/MD)
Ultimate Spider-Man (GCN)
WWE Day of Reckoning (GCN)
Def Jam Fight for NY: The Takeover (PSP)
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (DS)
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3)
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and the Golden Sun series was already mentioned.
Wind Waker HD
Sonic Lost World
Super Mario 3D World
NES Remix Pack
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Yoshi's Woolly World
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Twilight Princess HD
Star Fox Zero + Guard
Paper Mario Color Splash
Wii U Virtual Console
The more Wii U ports, the better!
I would like them to bring back a Full Virtual Console, including systems from Wii / Wii U / and 3DS, Then remakes of Rogue Squadron Trilogy (although I would settle for a Port), And Sega to release their full back catalogue from 80s and 90s,
Would also love a full HD remake (not port) of Ocarina Of Time / Majoras Mask
I really want some of the GBA games that hit Wii U. Switch is obviously a much more appropriate platform for them.
That's not a very snappy hashtag! Let's make our own. #DreamSwitchPorts anyone?
I would love for Skyward Sword to be ported to switch - I've always wanted to play this game and I honestly just cannot do it with those motion controls - it completely ruins the game for me and I quit every time.
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Guess I'll jump on the bandwagon and comment mine, however unlikely a few or them may be:
The rumored Super Mario 3D remasters
Same for 3D Zelda
Pac-Man World 2
Kingdom Hearts trilogy
Jak and Daxter
Yoshi's Woolly World
N64 Nintendo Switch Online
GameCube Nintendo Switch Online
More Namco classics (Ms. Pac-Man, Mappy)
My list of Switch ports used to be so huge--Cuphead, Crash N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom, A Hat in Time, Katamari Damacy, Scribblenauts, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, SNES Online... most of those seemed completely impossible, but here we are. Here's to hoping I might get lucky and get a few more of these.
I want Killer Instinct, Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, the DKC SNES trilogy, a new Yoshi’s Island entry that lives up to the magnificent SNES original, Pikmin 3 and Super Mario 3D World.
I think at this point, just having Gamecube games would be enough for me. I wouldn't exactly say no to anything else (3DS games would be nice to have) but if all we got was a decent selection of Gamecube games, then I'd probably be reasonably satisfied.
I'll take em all, please.
3rd-party, my top requests would be:
– Portal 1 and 2
– Half Life trilogy
1st-party, I’d love to have all the Zeldas remastered
So many “YASSSSS!!!”
Any/every Metroid and Zelda, then Xenoblade X (I never got chance to play it, so would love the opportunity on Switch!).
@westmeadow lol... Half-Life Trilogy... what you trying to do...
•GTA VI and V
•Mafia 2 remaster
•Sonic & Allstars racing transformed
seriously people, more ports? the switch is becoming the port machine at this point.
Unless it's a remaster of an old game like Link's awakening, I don't really want to see the same games over and over again. Sometimes I feel cheated for having buyed a Wii U. I keep getting the exact games I just bought a few years ago.
@Ogbert "There are entire studios dedicated to ports like these... There would be zero harm in adding some themselves."
Are you sure about that? Nintendo used to have more games in what I consider the "B-tier." Lower budget games outside of the main franchises so people had something to play while waiting for the next Zelda game such as Excite Trucks, Wii (random word here), Sin & Punishment, etc. It seems that has largely been replaced with ports to fill the gap. And of course, people only have so much free time and money. Flooding the market with ports will drain sales from new games (especially 3rd party).
I was thinking about this the other day haha.
I would love all 3 Pikmin, Paper Mario games, Super Mario 3D World, (all the Zelda's, and Mario Games), Star Fox Zero, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Kingdom Hearts (if it's just all the games before 3, I'll take it!).
Wow, we are at the bottom of the barrel with these articles
@Ttimer5 Star Fox Zero was awful. Its problems went way beyond the cracked out control scheme. If you want the franchise to have a future, the worst thing to do would be to subjugate Switch owners to that mess.
I bet that was, because you waggled the Wii remote around like a mad man. 😑
Skyward Sword, please! It would be absolutely perfect for the two joy-cons, control-wise. And it would be nice not to have that Wiimote to nunchuk cable getting in the way of the motion controls.
I'd be down for Baten Kaitos most of all. Skies of Arcadia Legend is always welcome as an evergreen.
Don't really care about Skyward Sword and Windwaker HD. Both are fine on WiiU and I am not sure what the Switch would really add. I'm not against ports here, I just don't see any immediate need or huge benefit. Who is really into Zelda games but hasn't played either one yet? Everyone and their Mom had a Wii, and hence could play both games.
Xenoblade X I can see. It was kinda of wasted as a WiiU exclusive, I get that. Not sure I would buy it again, but I just might at some point.
I'd really love to see a FE PoR/RD collection on top of that. Should be easy enough to get these GC/Wii games, which went largely unnoticed by the general public back then, unto the Switch.
Invisible Inc. is one indie I realy miss on the Switch, would be a great fit, too. But frankly, portbegging is so whatever.
What are folks going to do next year, when the system gap becomes gargantuan? Go nuts about Cyberpunk citing Witcher 3 (a game that started development in during the Wii era back in 2011...)?
That's going to be ... fun I guess.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is a must. The Switch audience deserves that one! Easily one of the best Wii U games I've played.
I'm all for a lot of the ports suggested in the article, too. Golden Sun deserves another chance, and the suggested Mario and Zelda ports (I'm aware of the rumors) would be awesome too! And Metroid! And...Okay, now I'm starting to get carried away. XD
Donkey Kong 64 complete remastered.
Random suggestion, but Minish Cap. It can only be played on the Gameboy or Wii U. I would say the three consoles people are most likely to own are Switch, Wii and DS/3DS. Every single Zelda game can be played on one of those systems except for Minish Cap. All the other Gameboy games are on 3DS VC, Wind Waker and Four Swords Adventures for GC can be played on the original Wii. The originals are available with NSO. Literally every Zelda game is fairly accessible nowadays, except for Minish Cap. So that is my #1 game to get ported to Switch.
I might be in the minority here, but I had a Wii growing up and my parents refused to buy the Wii U because they said it was no different than the Wii, just more expensive. Not sure how many people are in the same boat, but most of my friends' parents were the same way. So I just assumed that more people probably own a Wii than a Wii U.
I want all things N64. Just give us NSO N64, Nintendo. Other than that, how about the Wii games that were already ported to the Chinese Nvidia Shield. It would be so easy for Nintendo to put Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess and the rest on the eShop. And, where is Mario 3D World? It seems absolutely perfect for the Switch. Pikmin 3 and Xenoblade Chronicles X too. Nintendo Land could work too with multiple Switch consoles. Make a free app for multiplayer, Nintendo. I want to pack up my Wii U and these games deserve to be played by other people. And don't forget GameCube and Mother/Earthbound.
P.S. Wii Sports
Metroid 2D HD Collection please.
Metroid Zero Mission
Metroid: Return of Samus
All on one cartridge, original and HD versions include. Will never happen because its Nintendo.
I would REALLY like to see a Pokémon Pinball Collection ... and Pokémon Snap would be great too!
@hadrian if they re-release Metroid: Samus Returns I hope they do something about the Omega Metroids they’re kinda pathetic. Perhaps change the ending so the tone matches the original.
Beyond Good and Evil HD
Red Dead Redemption 1
Soul Calibur 2 (Gamecube edition)
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Power Stone collection
Marvel vs Capcom/Darkstalkers collection
For me, it's mainly games that are on one platform, and never made it elsewhere. Where I'm not aware of even ports to PC or other systems (including VC).
Highest on my lists would be the N64 Mystical Ninja games (Konami....like that will happen) and the FInal Fantasy WiiWare games (My Life as a King was REALLY fun).
Every DKC and DKL game, a Virtual Boy collection, Wario World, and both every remaining Luigi's Mansions (including Arcade).
Not just portbegging but a Twitter hashtag about portbegging now gets a front page article here? They really need a new direct.
@RPGamer It's disappointing more of their games aren't on current gen systems at all. I had to play Trails in the Sky trilogy, Ys Seven and Oath in Felghana on Steam even though I'm not a PC gamer in any way. At least my 2012 potato PC can run their games.
@TheLightSpirit don't ever play Other M, the controls are so atrocious within a hour or so you'll be tempted to break the Wiimote out of frustration.
Okay, what exactly was the problem with the controls? The only "issue" I had, was that the aiming rectangle wasn't center anymore after a time. But this was corrected in a fraction of a second with a simple button press.
@Ogbert BUCKLE YO PANTS
Ohh I see Baten Kaitos, someone out there has good taste.
Here's my hastily thought out list:
-Suikoden 1-4 & Tactics (especially 2)
-Breath of Fire 3
-Shin Megami Tensei 1 & 2
-Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey
-Shin Megami Tensei 4 & 4 Apocalypse
-Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
-Vandal Hearts 1&2
-Final Fantasy Tactics
-Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
-Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 1 & 2
-Etrian Odyssey series
-Pokemon Black/White 1
-Final Fantasy the 4 Heroes of Light
-Bravely Default 1&2
-Legend of Dragoon
-Advance Wars Days of Ruin
-Secret of Evermore
-Sin & Punishment 1 & 2
-Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
-All GBA/DS Castlevanias (Circle of the Moon & Order of Ecclesia more than others)
As far as I can remember, the game didn't even use the sensor bar. And even if, what did sometimes work and what not?
Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword!
Xenoblade X really needs ported.
I'd take just about all of these. Especially Twilight Princess HD, 3D World, and Color Splash.
@Darth_Goomba +1 for mentioning Eternal Darkness 😄
Oh...phantasy star online... A mmorpg would rock on switch
I dunno what to put, so I’ll go with everything
With Nintendo Switch turning into the ultimate arcade machine, I’d like all the Midway arcade games.
Final Fantasy Tactics
The fact we can't play either of these masterpieces on a modern system is criminal.
I'd love to see a Rogue Squadron collection (or at least 1 and leader, Strikes awfiul platform bits I dont need)
Golden Sun, no one?
@Bass_X0 Definitely. They also increase the number of games that can be played out and about, like on a really long train ride.
surprised the tweets include Arc Rise Fantasia. I thought I was the only one who ever cared about that game.
the Wii U can keep Xenoblade Chronicles X. it was boring.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Yes. Zelda Skyword Sword which still is Wii exclusive, should get a HD Remake first i think.
This because i own Zelda Wind Waker physically on both GameCube and HD version Wii U.
They did fix some gameplay problems in Wind Waker on Wii U version btw.
Rockstar games like Red Dead Redemption 1, GTA5, San Andreas.
EA NHL game
Fallout 3 / New Vegas
Mass Effect Trilogy
All the 3d Mario games
All of the Zelda games
Arkham Batman games
I'd love another Mario Golf.
Probably not much demand for that though.
Maplestory is the only game that still right away pops in my mind.
@babel116 Agreed. XCX was kind of like mowing a beautifully manicured lawn. It was impressive to look at but it felt like work and really wasn't much fun. But even worse, after two or three hours with XCX, I didn't even get any sense of accomplishment like when I finish cutting grass.
@BlackenedHalo Because the world was so crazy big, especially for a Wii u game, the textures for basically everything were terrible — character models, for example. That was the main thing. There was also fps problems for the same reason. That game is really impressive that is the on the wii u, but it'd be much better if it wasn't.
@RPGamer Man, ff7R barely runs on the base PS4. It's a good game, but man, that's not going to happen. Plus, that's absolutely.a Sony exclusive. Maybe it'll come to PC in 3 years.
It is weird Danganronpa isn't on the switch though. It wouldn't surprise me at all if theres like a surprise 1+2+3 pack that comes out this year.
Kinda weird it's taking so long for a Metroid prime trilogy remaster or remake. We all know it's coming.
Well obviously we need an open-world remake or at least a remaster of Skyward Sword.
And then definitely a remaster of XCX and F-Zero GX.
@Ventilator i didnt like skyward at all. Id much rather see a reimagination of Ocarina of time. Just how square changed up FF remake.
@Kidfunkadelic83 I only want Skyward because i never played it. Also want it without motion controls.
Yep, that’ll do for starters! 🤔
@ShaiHulud If a game can come to Switch, let it be on Switch.
