Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 5th)

AI: The Somnium Files (amazing story, up there with 13 Sentinels and NieR Replicant for best stories in a game in recent memory.) Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, thinking about starting Final Fantasy 1 (Final Fantasy Origins version on Vita) while we continue to wait for the pixel remasters on Switch.

That top image has me wishing Trails in the Sky would get ported to modern consoles. As well as Ys: Oath in Felghana, Ys 1+2 Chronicles, Ys Seven, Ys 6: The Ark of Napishtim, (the good PC version, not the PS2 version with the nails on chalkboard voice acting) etc. etc. etc. Or I can be patient and wait for my Steam Deck. But I'll gladly buy all those games again. Maybe again and again.

Re: Dragon Quest Composer Koichi Sugiyama Has Passed Away

This is probably going to be a common theme with all the comment sections regarding Sugiyama's death: I strongly disagree with a lot of his... opinions, but his compositions have been stuck in my head ever since the original Dragon Warrior on NES. May he rest in peace and condolences to his loved ones.

@BloodNinja Yeah, whenever the Mario World vs. Mario 3 debate comes up, my first argument is Mario 3 has too many auto-scrollers. Still a great game of course. Then we've got the mine carts in DKC, jump jump, slide slide levels from Mega Man 8... if these levels are always everybody's least favorite parts of the game, stop putting them in the game.

I liked Blazing Chrome, but my biggest complaint was I felt there were too many auto-scrollers. The day they announce this game, they show off... another auto-scroller. Does anybody actually like these levels? Other than masochists who beat Battletoads. I do like a good side-scrolling ninja game though, I'll keep my eye on it.

Re: Metroid Series Tops Wii U eShop's "Best Sellers" List Following Dread Reveal

Let's see, just got my GBA repaired a few weeks ago (busted R button) so I think a replay of Fusion and Zero Mission are in order. Replayed Samus Returns just a couple months ago, and Super Metroid is already an annual tradition for me. I still think the original Metroid is a lot of fun too, it's the first game I ever bought with my own money, so nostalgia is at play here for sure, but it's still enjoyable for me despite its flaws. Having it on the NES app is pretty convenient, especially being able to rewind when falling into an inescapable lava pit, sure beats farming for health drops.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Dragon Quest Game?

XI and V are the only ones I've ever beaten, so I'd rank them in that order. I still have DQ III, IV, VI, VII and VIII in some form, I'll get to those eventually. Dragon Warrior was the first RPG I ever played, tried going back recently and found it to be too slow and repetitive.
