There have been ongoing rumours about the Metroid Prime Trilogy coming to the Nintendo Switch for a few years now, yet it's still nowhere to be seen. Is it real, is it fake? Nobody is entirely sure, but it seems to keep popping up here and there.
In the latest update, we've now got a Swedish retailer by the name of Inet claiming this trilogy collection will be released next month on 19th June. If the name sounds familiar, that's because it's the same "reliable" retailer that first listed the game, not long after Reggie was spotted wearing a Metroid t-shirt alongside Geoff Keighly around the time of The Game Awards in 2018.
The last time we heard about the possible return of this Wii collection was actually a few weeks ago, alongside the rumour about a deluxe version of Pikmin 3 - when video game historian and Nintendo Life contributor Liam Robertson said both games were real. Before this, at the beginning of 2019, Imran Khan (the former senior editor of Game Informer) said the Metroid Prime collection for Switch had “ been long done” and the reveal was originally planned for December 2018.
What do you make of this latest listing for Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Switch? Can you see it happening - do you think we'll see it as soon as next month? Share your thoughts down below.

Unlikely, and probably another example of a company using a place-holder or jumping the gun. Not to say that it releasing next month wouldn't be amazing!
Never played any of the Prime Metroid games. I would love to have it.
This could be true.
I would be a lot more skeptical about this being real if we hadn't just had that Paper Mario surprise reveal... a man can hope.
Yeah right. How many times have we heard this one? Unless Nintendo confirms it i ain't believing it. No biggie though. Still got my copy on Wii!
With the dearth in imminent new ip, this would seem like a no brainer and a pretty nice lead into MP4 (whenever that might be)
This seems too good to be true...
Unless they also have something to announce about Metroid Prime 4, this isn't coming any time soon. We've got all the Mario stuff coming. And Pikmin 3.
@Zuljaras
You sir have missed out on some of metroids best games!
If this is a straight port, I’ll pass, but if we’re talking full on remake a la Wind Waker HD, I’m in on day one.
As someone who orders from there frequently, this is very common and really doesn't mean anything. Gamezone and CDON does the same.
While I have zero doubt the games done and ready to print (leaks and behind the scenes talk for the last year, all point to it being ready to go gold), I doubt we will see it next month. I'd love to be wrong tho. My best guess would be that we will see it release about 4-6 months before 4 is done, and itll be released along with a trailer and vague date for 4. Which I really hope happens this holiday season, with a spring release for 4.
@Zeldafan79 We will see. I love the 2D Metroid games. Zero Mission and Fusion are amazing. I do not see how FPS Metroid games could top that.
I never owned Wii or Wii U so I am interested in the exclusive Zelda games as well.
Must be true and certainly long overdue. The Nintendo community is hungry....feed us!
@Incoherent1 Wind Waker wasn't a full on remake. Remaster would be the more applicable term.
Anyone in Sweden know if this is a reliable site?
Playing through Samus returns love it!! the 3D is amazing as well. Hopefully this is true regarding Prime trilogy. Have the Wii versions but remastered for switch oh yes!!
Omg, yes!
I have been waiting for it!
Need to refresh my memory while waiting for Metroid 4.
Please be true!
The game is real. The release date, not so much. Hoping we hear about a Mother remake (using the Link's Awakening engine) soon.
@Coach_A Well, I won’t argue semantics, but I’m just hoping we get more than just a port with very minor updates and little visual improvement (some companies call those remasters, some don’t). I’m never one to obsess over pixels and frame rates, but if they’re going to bring Wii-era games to Switch, I want it to look good on a modern TV.
It isn't true but I like their energy.
I'll believe it when I see it.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice shame on me.
Fool me for the fiftieth time, I’m a gullible moron...which is probably the truth since I keep falling for it.
Oh well, crossing my fingers for June now.🙄
@Dezzy Inet is probably my first point of call for anything computer related. Very good service and reliable but not sure what they are like with listings.
Edit: seems like it's been removed from their site.
@Syndrome they’re hiring for MP4. They do not need extra manpower for HD versions of the original trilogy.
I remember having Prime and Wind Waker on the cube. Amazing games that time has been kind to. Trilogy on switch would be nice. About to play Wind Waker HD again on Wii U (between the last tomb raider game and animal crossing.)
@Zuljaras
I was skeptical at first too. I'm like metroid as a FPS? That can't be good! I was sorely mistaken and I'm a guy who generally hates FPS games. You know that goldeneye on N64 that everybody loves? Not me. In fact never played it. Somehow metroid in that style just works!
I personally don't want it. I've played the trilogy on Wii and Wii U. Unless they add something substantial to it like revamped textures, models, etc I can only assume this is for those that have never played a Prime game before.
@Zuljaras You’re in for a treat with Metroid Prime then. The Metroid Prime games aren’t FPS games as such, they are more like their 2D predecessors than the screenshots would have you think.
Yes listen to the guy above! Metroid prime doesn't play like your typical FPS game. There's puzzles to solve, plus hidden paths and upgrades to find just like in the 2-D games and the music is exquisite!
Nintendo once again refusing to let The Last of Us Part 2 have a release date all to itself. (If the rumor is true.) TLoU 2 was supposed to come out the same day as Xenoblade Chronicles DE before the former got delayed.
RETAIL LISTINGS MEAN NOTHING.
If this is true please include motion controls for the 3 games!!
Good news if true. I'll believe it when Nintendo announce it though.
Always some obscure retailer or foreign business that perpetuate these rumors. I want them to be true but I’m a cynic at heart. Stop getting my hopes up, NL writers and said small business owners who like to disappoint others!
@jobvd Indeed, it's possible seeing Nintendo "shadow dropping" games lately. (Paper Mario) However, if it's true.. well let's just wait and see.
If it's announced I'll believe it then, or if suddenly multiple sites list the game with the same date...
I hope the games on the horizon!! It would really help pad out the release schedule...
@Zuljaras Metroid Prime games aren't FPS. They are first person games, but are more like puzzle / collection based than actual shooting. Not unlike games like Portal / Portal 2.
Tease me a little bit more, then again and again. And then I might believe this! X x
As long as it doesn't force you to play it docked, much like the WiiU version, I'm all in!
@Incarna expect motion controls
Well, apparently it's taken down now... Never heard about this site though, and I live here. Wouldn't trust it a second
False. At least not a next month release.
Nintendo does not really do surprise drops. If this news really is true then that means there will be a direct happening even sooner.
The only way I believe we get a trilogy is if it's a straight port. If they make it HD it's going to be sold individually. This is the same company during the Wii u era sold Wii games digitally at $30 with no improvements.
No way it's gonna happen. Plus I don't care, I mean I'm gonna sound like a snob but I'm perfectly fine with my original GC versions of 1 and 2. I don't like the changes Prime Trilogy makes to the lore and some of the details and such
If this is true, it kinda would be boring. Nintendo ports and remakes for my taste a bit too much and also this generation. Same goes also for the other companies. I'm more hungry for new games. Sure, seeing old games like Crash, and Spyro and Link's Awakening in a new HD look is awesome, but creativity can only be really challenged and can grow if the industry comes up with new material.
I hope that the next console generation will provide more new stuff. This one was to much stuff we already now, just in HD.
Highly doubt it since Nintendo hasn't officially mentioned anything about this. Although, the teaser at the end of the Paper Mario trailer could lead to something but we still don't know.
If they release it on Switch which I certainly think will happen at some point they really need some updated textures. Don‘t get me wrong, the games hold up pretty well and look good with an upscaler like the OSSC but they could definately use some remastering here and there.
@Zeldafan79 yea like the claims constant claims about a Switch lite. That really angered all the Nintendo stalwarts on these boards and its release even more.
I'm surprised that nobody said that the release date would conflict with Paper Mario's release. Another Nintendo release unannounced, but releasing before something that's been officially revealed seems a bit unlikely to me. Why would they detract from building up hype to something as major as a Paper Mario release, you know. Still though, if it happens, i'm absolutely not complaining.
As usual, I'll believe it when I see it. But while this trilogy would be an instant wishlist addition for me, June 19 is already marked by Burnout Paradise hopes in my calendar (and possibly The Outer Worlds if I can't get it at launch).
I don't understand the idea some people have that the trilogy needs to drop 4-6 months before prime 4 to get people excited for the new game. For myself I would be all metroid out with that kind of schedule. It seems preferable to either drop it 1-1 1/2 year ahead to remind people what metroid prime is and wet the appetite. I don't really think there's a right approach. Maybe a preferred approach but I can see this from both sides. Ultimately Nintendo needs games quick this year so if this is ready might as well release it.
Just so everyone knows the listing says that it is only a rumor and that the release dates may not be accurate.
@RareFan Another head in the sand Nintendo fan, with no clue or sense of the bigger picture, business or marketing.
Switch recieved alot of Wii U ports yes, but only because many Switch owners never played them, plus it helps Nintendo turn a profit with no impact to development of their new games.
Look at Breath of The Wild - Wind waker and Twilight Princess were ported and remastered for Wii U during development of BOTW. This provided good Marketing and PR for Zelda and the money made went into BOTW development making it into the vast experience that it was.
Seriously, this gen has provided a great mix with so many new games and fan service. A trilogy like this will introduce Metroid to a wider audience, thus boosting the next installments potential sales. Imagine all these new gamers deciding to pick up Metroid Trilogy and enjoying it so much they are hooked into the series. This is a good thing for Metroids future.
Enhanced ports/remasters are often from a hired in studio, a team that isn't involved with the main game development. It has zero impact and provides a massive financial boost to the teams involved in the main game installments.
Nintendo fans need to consider the benefits of these ports instead of the brain dead blinkers on approach.
the link doesn't work, looks like they have taken the listing down...
I mean it’s gonna happen eventually, but next month. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Please be true, please be true!!
Based solely on the former editor for Game Informer, I’m calling B.S. Why would Nintendo let this sit in the shelf for this long and not make money? Over a year? Sorry but no. Wish it were true but that comment makes me skeptical.
It’ll be in a double-pack (download codes) with the half life trilogy.
@Syndrome that's a completely separate project, so it will probably have no impact on the Prime Trilogy being released, considering most ports/remasters are handled by other studios, e.g Grezzo for the Zelda 3D ports and Link's Awakening
@RareFan you do realise the two aren't mutually exclusive? We've been having steady releases of both HD ports and new titles for the switch since launch, heck it had a brand new Mario and Zelda title within the first year, followed then by Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, so on and so on. There's definitely no creativity draught...
Not to mention we already know Prime 4 is coming, and releasing the previous 3 makes complete sense to hold people over until then.
@Zuljaras ow man, those are totally amazing and very much nintendoish if can say so. If they'll come, day one for me.
@DanTee @dewokkel I'm a complete idiot. I thought the title said Metroid Prime 4. Disregard my previous comment.
This would be amazing! Unsure if releasing bext month makes sense, I’d imagine maybe announced next month releasing the month after. Give people time to preorder and such.
@Syndrome np man. Let’s just hope more games are coming. That’s always good 😀
I'll take it as a straight port - just release it already!
I doubt it.
Nintendo wouldn't put 3 games in one.
They would sell each game at full price on a "this is a remaster" excuse.
Other developers would do this, the games being so old. But not Nintendo.
This isn’t going to happen.
Well at some point one of these endless Metroid prime collection rumors on the Switch, has to turn out to be true.
@Syndrome haha! We can all dream of a Prime 4 release next month, if that did happen I'd combust from sheer shock and excitement.
@Razer,
Well they already did bring all three games in the one package on the Wii, a lot will depend on if it's a simple HD port or a total HD remaster.
I'd buy it. Sure have them on game cube and wii. But love to have them all in one place to catch up again before 4
@Razer Yet they exactly did that with the trilogy in the first place ; games were remastered to go 16/9 and support motion controls....
@johnvboy they also gave us a better online system with the Wii and the Wii U, N64 games through the VC and they where a very different company during the Wii days.
Games that were not bare bones, like Mario Party or Super Mario Maker.
The guy that ran that show passed away unfortunately.
With the dearth of missing features on various services they have provided us, I will be more inclined to believe this, if it was in a separate package and all 3 were charged separately. I hope I'm wrong though but I just doubt it.
What's really messed up.
People will lap it up like hungry puppies.
@RareFan
Ports and remakes are a huge part of Gaming now and will remain so. New games are a lot more expensive.
Further, games are becoming like other forms of art/entertainment where people like to experience their favourite games again, especially when Technology improves that experience. People watch their favourite Films/TV Shows and listen to their favourite music over and over. There’s no reason to expect Games to be different.
I definitely believe the trilogy is coming and is probably complete. They're just waiting for an opportunity closer to Metroid Prime 4 being finished to release it. If I had to guess, they'll probably announce it along side the first Metroid Prime 4 trailer reveal, which could be months or even a year away.
@Dezzy It's a serious site (they also have physical stores in the bigger cities – I've visited the one in Malmö several times), but I don't think this listing is anything to go by, probably just a placeholder.
Last time they had it listed, they had an explanation:
"Produkten är endast ett rykte, men vi tror det kommer annonseras på The Game Awards med lansering tidigt 2019 (feb?)."
Which means, "The product is just a rumour, but we think it will be announced at the Game Awards with a early launch in feb 2019."
They were wrong. 😆
Also anyone hating on re masters , ports, re releases whatever, you should have joined us in the Wii U generation nothing but new games (aside from zeldas) about 2 a year and a huge lack of choice across the board.
This is so much like all those so called "Industry insiders" who will predict a Nintendo game will come out at some point in time, last week it was "Pikmin 3 Deluxe", which to be honest has been rumored for ages now, and Nintendo are bound to bring it at some time as it's sales have always been poor, Nintendo feel they can get some millage out of it on the Switch, mainly due to the fact the console has a high software ratio.
Just like "paper Mario", another game rumored for ages then when it does get announced we see it as verification these insiders know what they are talking about, when in all honesty it's either controlled leaks of info, or very good educated guesswork at best, remember all those other leaks over the years that turned into nothing, "StarFox Grand Prix" anyone?.
@Kamalen they also gave us voice chat and a decent online system that worked back then too. Which they didn't charge for.
Don't hold your breath.
Why would Nintendo be withholding a completed game for 2 years like this?
@johnvboy
Spot on. If they’re being remade they’ll probably be separate like Gears of War Ultimate or Shadow of the Colossus. If it’s just remasters they’ll be in a Collection (and if they try selling remasters separately they can’t forget it).
The precedent is there for a Trilogy. In the Iwata era where they were pushing out Gamecube games at £30 with no improvements beyond different controls (or even Mario All Stars as a full price ‘collectors edition’) they still did Metroid Prime as a Trilogy.
@Razer and yet if we are to believe the Mario remaster rumours, we're getting Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy (1+2?) in one release. I was sure they would charge for them individually.
I dont think anyone has every called a online service by Nintendo decent before.
We need something Metroid related come on
@Razer,
The online system was free but could not last forever, I remember just as many issues with the online as there is now. The virtual console was brand new at that point in time, and was a great new feature, I would bet the demand for the service outside of the core gamer was well dead by the end of the Wii U's lifespan, the new system is much better imho, there are games I am playing that I would have never bought if I had to pay individually.
A lot of people have a go at Nintendo and their pricing, funny thing is how many moaned about the prices of the virtual console games, then complained again when you had to pay a small fee to migrate them to the Wii U, now are complaining about the new system, Nintendo can't win with these people.
Nintendo kept uncharged for internet, native backwards compatibility and the ability to buy past systems games on an Eshop past all the other companies (more or less). It didnt really pay off for them in terms of wii u sales (I know other factors but as others ditched them and sold well I can see why the business call was dump them)
@Incoherent1 if it exists, I’d wager it’s an hd upscaling of the Wii version of trilogy except they’d make it so you can choose motion controls or standard controls for all three games now.
But I have no idea if it exists.
@Roibeard64 which is exactly why I think we'll get 3 games separately if we do get them at all.
Like you said, those methods didn't work for them before.
Nintendo has changed a lot since then, back then they use to discount their first party games a lot, they haven't done that in a good while.
Also let's be realistic, people will lap it up if they do separate the games and charge separately for all 3.
Nintendo shills will find an excuse to convince themselves that it's a good deal.
Nintendo could EASILY sell each game separately for full price and people will buy it and they will like it.
Quite possible that E3 was going to include a Prime 4 update and the remastered Trilogy reveal.
@johnvboy
It was definitely not a small fee to move the games from Wii to Wii U. $1 for NES, $1.50 for SNES and $2 for N64 is a lot per game. It’s punishment for people who download the games on the Wii and those who download on Wii U for the first time get a “discount” by not having to pay the transfer fee. If they had to charge a fee, it should have been 5 cents per game regardless of the emulated console.
It’d sure be a welcome surprise and would give me something to do after Xenoblade
I'm probably the worst one here. I never played any of the Metroid Prime games...except Metroid Prime Hunters for DS and I loved Metroid Other M Please go easy on me!!
So in that case I wouldn't mind a remastered Trilogy on Switch. Not saying for sure I'd play them but having the option would be nice.
this is the same website that leaked Xenoblade for May 29th way before the mini direct and look what happened...spot on
@Don,
I said people complained no matter what Nintendo did, he price of the fee is moot, no matter how high or low you feel it is, my main point is Nintendo will have issues with some, no matter what they do.
@glorymade,
I do feel it's coming at some point, it just makes perfect sense to me, but if you predict enough stuff at some point in time something will turn out to be true.
@Zuljaras aside from the perspective Metroid Prime 1-3 have little in common with first person shooters, the emphasis is still exploration. The games retain the sense of isolation and at times horror.
So that Metroid hint at the end of paper Mario trailer was hinting at something. Next month is way to soon though i'm guessing early October and after paper Mario comes out!.
@Kreko clicks?
@johnvboy this isn't someone's twitter page or some video game speculation page, it's a corporate retailer lol they aren't looking to make predictions, they list their items based on their inventory information
as this article states, the Trilogy has been ready since Dec 2018 and the last time this retailer had it up was probably the actual release date BEFORE the 4th title was delayed
Yeah.....no, I'll believe it when they announce it.
@glorymade,
How many times ha this happened from similar online retailers over the years?, sure this one may turn out to be correct, but I remember another site listing the exact same thing a year ago or so.
If it's true, great! I'll buy it for sure!
But I really doubt it. I think the Trilogy, if ever released, will come much closer to Prime 4. Due to that teaser in Paper Mario trailer though, in my opinion a 2D Metroid will come first.
I still have it on the Wii U, if they made the gamecube titles proper widescreen then it is a buy though.
I'm more interested in the release of Pike Men.
Do I think this trilogy exists? Yes. It would make sense to bring the previous three games to the system to help prep the install base for the (eventual) release of Prime 4.
Is that release date accurate? We'll see. As usual, I'm waiting until we hear it from the Big N before getting too excited.
@Razer So you’re saying, on this article about the Metroid Prime TRILOGY, they’re not going to release it as it’s named?
If true actually buy it you shallow fake Metroid fans!
Nintendo normally release these things as a lead-up to a future franchise release to build hype. The Paper Mario rumours were spot on so I’d expect those Sunshine/Galaxy HD rumours to be true with maybe Odyssey 2 as the big tent pole for Christmas.
MPT only makes sense of Metroid Prime 4 is due out this Christmas as well and it could well be given Nintendo tend to piggyback mass market releases (like Mario) with an offering for more core gamers. See Animal Crossing and Xenoblade this year.
Not the most credible outlet, they’re not the most prominent source for anything really (not that big in Stockholm at least, where I live), but it’s common practice in Sweden for web shops to add placeholders even just for rumors. If it’s plausible to release within a few years that is. My guess is that it exists, it’s pretty ready for launch, but they’re holding out for a drought (some might say we’re there, but in my opinion there’s plenty of back log to churn). Or that it’ll be released near, or building up to, MP4.
If this is true then the release of the Metroid Prime Trilogy will probably just feel like an after thought as the best time to release the trilogy was after the Games Awards 2018 since interest for the game were hot at the time, now every one else had move on and are waiting for the Outer Worlds, Crysis, the Borderlands collection, the BioShock collection, and Doom Eternal instead. I had to say hype for the trilogy either had died or if it does release it'll receive the well it's about time kind of treatment.
@Incoherent1 While Windwaker isn't a straight port, it is essentially the same game with a small amount of work done. They updated the 1st and 2nd prime a little for their move from Gamecube to Wii, I hope they do some more improvements. I'll buy it either way though.
I've known game companies to release older games by way of apology for delays on the next title in a series, so this may well be true and I couldn't be more hyped for it if it is. First two are easily in my top 10 games of all time!
So I do think it’s real. However, I think the date is a shot in the dark. It just makes too much sense to re-release it with Prime 4 a few years away.
In all honesty I’m fed up of hearing about this and it never coming to anything...
I would love for this to be true, but I am highly skeptical. Why would they just stealth drop this in June? I would think this would be a pretty big release for them and they would give it a decent amount of hype and advertising.
Funny thing is, no one even knows for certain if Metroid Prime Trilogy HD even exists. LOL. I mean I believe it does, but Nintendo has yet to confirm it's existence.
I saw this article and couldn't help but burst into laughter. Another Metroid Prime Trilogy rumor, and retailers are only being given a month to set up pre-orders? Okay, sure. If it turns out to be true, I will rejoice, and admit I was wrong, but this sounds too good to be true.
@Anri02 actually there's no evidence at all they will release any of the games. This is just a rumor.
But what I am saying is that if they DO release all 3 games, they will be sold separately and not in one bundle on one cart.
@Roibeard64 Always baffled to see people getting all sentimental about Nintendo’s Consumer practices under Iwata.
The Iwata era was where Nintendo fell behind with Online Play. Because he didn’t have the vision to understand the significance of it, even in 2008. They’ve always lagged behind, the only plus is it was free. They even put out the Wii Mini that couldn’t go Online at all
They gave the Wii a decent VC service but tied it to dreadful hardware specific DRM. They then couldn’t get it ready for Wii U launch and charged people to copy their ROMs to the Wii U game pad. They couldn’t even get an Eshop working for the 3DS launch. They carried on with the awful anti-consumer DRM into the 3DS/Wii U era.
They gave us Region-Locked hardware, including a handheld. They gave us handhelds without a Power Adaptor, or where you had to pay extra to use Headphones. They repackaged Gamecube games onto Wii discs at £30 a throw etc etc
@electrolite77 the Wii and ds online service was borderline unplayable. Yet people now remember it fondly. It literally was not fit for purpose in my experience.
At the time any serious online game was on xbox 360.
My point is just to be clear here is things like free online were there and it was awful. Other consoles ditched it earlier for a paid but better alternative.
As you say as a result of clinging to it for so long and not investing in it Nintendo are still behind to this day.
While I like backwards compatibility and the VC I suspect most console buyers never bothered much with either. Ditching it didnt hurt ps4 sales.
@Zuljaras Super Metroid is my favourite game of all time and while I prefer 2D metroids, The Prime series is more than worthy of being part of the Metroid universe. They may be first person shooters in gameplay, but they are also open world games that nail the atmosphere, sense of discovery and exploration of the 2D entries. I also consider them a bit more immersive, since the perspective works better for that and you really feel as powerful as Samus should be. That's just my opinion though.
@CowCatcher I’d maybe have agreed with you if Paper Mario Origami King Wasn’t a thing. That’s physical and digital and it’s a brand new game, not a port/remaster. That’s out middle of July.
@Razer And I say you’re wrong, on account that all these rumors specifically say Metroid Trilogy
@CowCatcher 19th June is 4 weeks away. Not that a week makes too much difference. That does mean there’s only 4 weeks between the rumoured date and OK. Given the differences in development times, the fact that MPT has been rumoured finished for ages (since 2018?), I see no reason why the carts for MPT couldn’t be printed 4 weeks before OK carts.
You’re probably correct (in all fairness) to assume that the date is unlikely, I just don’t think it has anything to do with digital/physical releases.
Yeah, it's not arriving next month.
Wouldn't surprise me... The release schedule is pretty sparse, would be a good summer treat.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Metroid Prime Trilogy was originally planned as part of an E3 surprise release perhaps even coinciding with a trailer for Metroid Prime 4. However even if they did plan to release it at that time it is still up in the air whether it still would be released on time or delayed.
This is very doubtful.
I believe the trilogy is probably ready to go, but I think they're holding it back to release with a major Prime 4 announcement and/or closer to the Prime 4 release.
Can't wait!! I never finished the one that came out to the Wii. This should be fun!
599 kr is £60; that's (hypothetically) a lot to ask for a double dip - double dip on a trilogy...sextuple dip?
Still, great games, great replay value and a resolution bump would be a thing of beauty.
@Razer I won't fault you for your cynicism, but I have to ask - why would people buy individual copies of Echoes and Corruption? The first time round, MP1 was the best-selling title, as I recall. If the purpose of releasing the trilogy is to enlarge the Metroid fandom, they would be hindering themselves by taking the approach you identify.
By the same logic, one would think they would never have released a trilogy as a single package at all.
@Roibeard64 I wish I could amplify your comment much more. Thank you for the perspective.
I played all the Metroid games so far, so just release the new one please.
@Razer it’s 100% a trilogy. Book it now.
Too much to ask for a collection instead? Remake Hunters and Fed Force and flesh out the multiplayer modes.
@locky-mavo Fed Force was TRASH. Hunters was decent but we want the Prime Trilogy and the GBA duology.
@Northwind Star Fox 2 got withheld because of the N64 was approaching as new console. Not the same here, these leaks saying this Trilogy has been completed for 2 years and the Switch is still the current Nintendo console with nothing new overtaking it for the foreseeable year.
@NoNoseNosferatu
Opinions pal. I still say a remake, as in make the games look like HD Prime games, would do wonders for them both. Plus they both had good multiplayer and having minor story plot doesn’t hurt either, IF that’s where MP4 is going.
@locky-mavo Metroid doesn’t need a multiplayer component. That was the thing I hated about Federation Force and MP2: ECHOES.
@Zeldafan79 same here. But thuis games in hd.. oh god
@T7Hokage017 Thanks man, it's a close up picture of my dog hahahahaah
@NoNoseNosferatu
Does Metroid need multiplayer? Not really no. Would it benefit from having a good multiplayer? If done right, very much so. It’s already got the scene in place, Feds v Pirates ft. Hunters. And don’t give me that lame BS excuse of “multiplayer would take the focus away from the single player” nonsense.
And if you claim you actually hated the multiplayer in Fed Force, it doesn’t sound you even played Fed Force at all, because playing as a squad is the best way to play and enjoy that game.
As for Echoes multiplayer, I agree, that one was so bare bones, there was no point in it.
Hunters multiplayer on the other hand, was brilliant, save for the suffering of hand cramps because it was a stylus style DS game, same issue I have with Kid Icarus: Uprising.
They really should release it now if it’s ready. Fans already have to endure a really long wait, heck some may not be healthy enough to see the day MP4 releases. Why not release the trilogy to tide fans over until MP4?
I would love to get to play all three of those classics for the first time! Bring it on over!
Second time lucky, I can count at least 5 times this title has been leaked, only a month ago there was a Best buy listing on their site showing supposed artwork for the game, if the game in indeed a thing, then one of these leaks has to be right at some point.

I do like the way this one was given some millage because supposedly Best buy took it down from their site very quickly, and the person that captured the image only shows part pf it?, seemed very strange to me.
@johnvboy as i said, officials have stated that the Trilogy does indeed exist and the common idea amongst fans is that when MP4 was delayed they decided to also delay the Trilogy making those earlier Amazon or w.e leaks seem to have been real also
@glorymade,
Who are the officials fella?, as I don't tend to trust the so called industry insiders, it's a pretty safe bet with "Metroid Prime 4" in production that these games will come to the Switch at some point.
RELEASE THE GAME ALREADY! YES YOU'RE TRYING TO WAIT CLOSER TO Metroid Prime 4 release but I CANT WAITTTTTT!!! RELEASE IT TO THE PUBLIC PLEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSEEEE & MAKE SURE WE CAN USE OUR GAMECUBE CONTROLLER BECAUSE JOY CONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE! THIS HAS BEEN OVER nin-TENdo YEARS COME ON!!!!
I know this is hard to believe but I’m from the future. Sorry to tell you, it ain’t gonna happen
It could happen... It could not...
