I remember that episode where Kid Icarus wore a pot over his head to avoid Medusa's gaze. I think he was with Simon, can't remember for sure, haven't seen the show in about 28 years. Loved the show though, my favorite episode was the one mentioned in the article where Simon thinks DK is his mummy.

Link's Awakening. I wouldn't mind beating it before DQ11S comes out, and I wouldn't mind beating DQ11S before Trails of Cold Steel 3 comes out. And the circle of RPGs continues. Not complaining at all.

I ran over a skunk on the way home from work today so of course there's a new Klonoa on the way.

@Starrebirth There is such a converter. It's called an 8BitDo GBros Adapter. You can use SNES and NES mini controllers and Gamecube controllers with it. I have one myself but I haven't tested it much yet.

All 3 are guilty of false advertising- you never fight Metal Gear in the NES port. At least that's what I've heard. I never made it that far.

Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Maker were cancelled around the same time IIRC, maybe one of those will be revived. I still think X9 will be made by Inti Creates. I could see Legends 3 being an open world MetroidVania. The weapons you get from robot masters would be used to unlock new areas, traverse the environment, solve puzzles and obviously used to attack enemies and bosses that are weak to that weapon.

December 5th here too, looking forward to it. Quite the gauntlet of RPGs on the Switch coming up. My only experience with Star Ocean is the terrible SO5 on PS4 so I'll just pretend this will be my first dip into the series.

Sega Bass Fishing- could use the Labo fishing rod or I'd buy a new peripheral, or 8bitdo could make an adapter to hook up my Dreamcast fishing rod to Switch. Also since Wave Race has been a dormant franchise, Hydro Thunder would be a nice consolation prize.

Can somebody like, put a few more hours in a day?

So what I can't understand from playing the demo is this: At a church you have the option to switch from 3D to 2D, but it says a new adventure log will be created. So does that mean if you make the switch you can't go back, or your progress in 2D mode won't carry over if you choose to switch back to 3D later? Or does it just mean you'll need to use 2 save files?

These people can choose to spend their time in front of their computers and spam negative reviews... or they could get a job and buy a Switch.

Looks like other commenters already hit the big ones- Castlvania, Contra, Suikoden, Metal Gear, etc. So I'll add Vandal Hearts and Jackal. I'd take the latter on Switch Online, it's an underrated NES co-op game. Or maybe a new Top Gun to celebrate the movie reboot. It will just be Tom Cruise crashing his plane into the ocean repeatedly in an embarrassing attempt to land on the carrier.

Picked Japan over Europe for having the proper antagonist. If you remember, Dr. Wily and Dr. Light were working together to build a peace-keeping robot called Gamma until, well you know what happens. So it makes more sense for Gamma to be lurking in the shadows than Wily making his "I surrender!" face in the background. The story was only available in the instruction book at the time; MM1 and 3 are the only ones on NES to not have an opening cutscene.

It's awesome that the classic style FPS genre has so many cool new games coming from indie devs, kind of like how the 2D platformer was the "it" genre before that.

Just looking at the "cons" column- so TRPGF haven't learned from Setsuna as Sphear yet.

Place your bets! Which track will be the best track? Boat? Stage 1? Elevator? Boss fight? Beach? Factory? My guess is the stage that takes place on a boat (probably stage 5) will be the best.

One of the best co-op games on NES. I'll go with Japan, North America box art looks like The Outsiders: The Videogame.

Time Banana Splitters. It's Overcooked meets DK64 multiplayer.

I hope they do add online multiplayer, I'm on board either way though.

Day one, I'll even double dip if there's a physical release too. Two of my favorite RPGs of all time, still the best turn-based battle system, and Sue has the best healing spell ever.

What a cinch! These are two of my favorite RPGs of all time, still have the best turn-based battle system. I'm also hoping Lunar, also from GameArts will be next. Expect an earlier Winter, with lots of snow!

Going with USA for this one. Arnold, Sly, Xenomorph, even the "Face Hugger" from Stage 8 Alien's Lair legs in the foreground. And after beating the game you "Get to zee choppah!" before the whole island blows up. GG!

@tech7 I agree that Ys VIII is the best RPG on Switch. As for Falcom, they pretty much have the rhythm down of releasing one new RPG every year for one system in Japan. Right now their system of choice is PS4. The translation, localization and porting are all done by outside studios such as NIS, XSEED, DotEmu, Aksys, heck even Konami brought Ys VI to USA for PS2 back in the day. So even though Falcom won't be developing anything for Switch themselves, those other companies I mentioned (except Konami) must have seen that Falcom games sell on Switch and are lining up to get the rights to bring them over. At least I hope.

Please (Pl-Ys) be Ys IX. I'd also love to see Ys Collection (Ys Seven, Oath in Felghana, Memories of Celceta, Origin) or Trails in the Sky Trilogy. Or are the rights to the latter two still held by XSEED?

You don't need a RAM expansion pak to play in high-rez mode anymore.

Played through Ys 8 twice, once each on PS4 and Switch, put in about 120 hours and I plan to play it again someday. Incredible game. Also love D5C.

Japan's is the best since it has Kraid as well as Ridley. However it kind of spoils the surprise of how big Kraid is in the game. Remember the first time you realize Kraid is 2 (TWO!) screens tall!?

How about an Arkham Asylum style 3D MetroidVania? You see an HP upgrade on a wall that's too high to reach with your Splattershot. So you go into the next area and defeat a boss who drops a Charger. Now you can use your charger to paint the wall and climb up and get that sweet HP upgrade. Plenty of cool stuff you can do with this franchise. I'd also just take Splatoon 3 with new maps, modes, weapons and expanded Salmon Run.

@BionicDodo I agree that Ys Origin will probably be the next game to come over since it's already out on everything else, even XB1. I only didn't mention it here since it was published by DotEmu, not XSeed (at least on PS4.) I'd be happy to play through all 3 stories again on Switch! I'm also waiting on news of a western release of Celceta on PS4, the only mainline Ys I haven't played in any form is Ys 4.
