Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

mattesdude

Look, I get it, nobody wants to pay more. It stinks. But please remember game development of AAA releases is only going to increase greatly each generation. This shouldn’t be a huge surprise.

And then when you take in to account game prices on 64 games when released and even certain SNES/Genesis games, we are paying less after inflation.

So yeah, it stinks. Be mad about it. Don’t buy it if you don’t want to. But don’t whine over it.

Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?

mattesdude

I was there for Gen 1 Pokemon. I loved it. I skipped Gen 2, and played only half way through Ruby, and I didn’t care about the franchise anymore….

Until, on a whim, I picked up White. I fell back in love! It’s my favorite Gen and I’m really hoping to see these remakes. It’d be really cool (though doubtful) to see them make like White/Black 1+2!

White/Black also have my favorite pokemon designs overall. I mean, Charizard and Mew (and others) are so iconic from Gen 1, but overall, I love the Pokemon introduced here more.

Re: Opinion: Scrapping Gold Points Makes Sense For Nintendo, But It's A Bitter Pill For Loyal Fans

mattesdude

Sad to see them go, to be honest. I’d buy a new game, and could use the gold coins to pick up something off-the-wall. An indie on a sale or just some random game I never heard of (which helped my find a favorite: Donut Dojo).

I wonder if others do this too. Will indies be hurt as a result? Also, I wonder what impact the new tariffs have on this, like is this a result of tariffs and trying to keep costs down?

Re: Random: Shuhei Yoshida Reminisces About Playing Sony's First 'SNES PlayStation' Game

@PikaPhantom I don’t have the exact numbers in front of me…but in short the deal Sony was pressuring Nintendo into would see them get the majority of profits from every game and console (possibly controller…I can’t remember) sold, whether they produced it or not. Iirc, and I may not, this may have also been with the regular SNES units sold.

In short, Sony was pressuring Nintendo into a bad deal, which could have ended them producing hardware at all. Again, it wasn’t nice of them to break the deal in the manner they did…but it had to be done. I also think they probably knew the Phillips deal would be a bust.

Re: Review: Vagante (Switch) - A Roguelike Too Empty To Make An Impact

mattesdude

I bought this recently on sale in the eshop and went in playing not seeing a review or knowing anything about the game. I really enjoy it. I’d give it a solid 7. It reminded me a ton of Spelunky, but I thought this was quite a bit better. My worst gripe is that it’s dark, too dark, at least in handheld mode. Unless you’re playing at night.

Re: Feature: 54 Switch Ports We'd Love To See Before The Generation's Out

mattesdude

@KBuckley27 Your first comment was talking about third parties that are going to ditch Switch, which implies they are the ones that are still supporting it. Your 2nd comment refers to the “vast majority” of third parties not currently supporting.

All I’m saying is that while we will see a decrease in support, it won’t be the total abandonment you predict, especially if Switch 2 is backwards compatible. That’s why we’re still seeing a ton of newer games that work on PS4. Also, think of games like Just Dance. Heck, the Wii got one of these not too long ago. I didn’t say, or mean, that companies would start trying to port their AAA games.

Re: Talking Point: Which Games Were Just The Perfect Length?

mattesdude

Good pick with Chrono Trigger! The problem I have with many RPGs today is their length. I’ve started Persona 5…but after learning it’s well longer than 100 hours I put it down.

This would’ve been great if I was still like 15 and had little money and lots of time on my hands, but not ideal for adult me.

Re: Talking Point: Pokémon Presents Predictions - What Are You Expecting?

mattesdude

I'm guessing we will see a ton of stuff on the anime series and card game...and I don't follow any of that.

A new game will undoubtedly be announced as well...and more than anything I'm hoping for Black/White remakes-they are my favorite Pokemon games!

And, I know I'm in the minority, but I really haven't been disappointed by any of the Switch Pokemon games!
