@rockodoodle I wonder that too. ARMS sold more than a lot of other games on the list, and Min Min made it to Smash, but I sometimes get the impression they were expecting it to be the next Splatoon.
@WhiteTrashGuy I don't get the hate. It wasn't exactly a good show, but it had the most coherent story of any Resident Evil adaptation (not that high of a bar, I know). Even managed to crack a few jokes that were funny on purpose, which is more than I can say for the movies.
@KingMike They own stock in most of the major publishers. SNK is small enough that they were able to grab 90% of the company's shares, but they also put about $3 billion into Activision, EA, and Take Two. The reason being Prince Salman likes video games, and knows he needs the country to diversify it's economy to things beyond oil.
@VinylCreep In SNK's defense, they didn't sell themsleves. The Saudi government bought most of their stock. The only thing SNK could have done to prevent that would be to buy back all their own shares, which they do not have the cash to do. I'm not trying to fault you for being principled, I respect your decision here. I'm just saying the whole thing wasn't SNK's idea.
@NinChocolate Me too actually. So factoring in you, me, and our brothers, the total number of people that remember Ooga Booga is probably somewhere around 7. By any chance did you two also play Heavy Metal: Geomatrix? Because that is another goofy, fun Dreamcast game no one ever talks about.
@tyranny_life Sounds like you might be thinking of Kinetica on the PS2, maybe?
In any case, the Extreme G series was awesome. Keep hoping for those to get remastered, especially XGRA to fix up it's framerate. Someone must have the rights because you can still buy Extreme G 2 on Steam.
@Justifier The complaint in the review isn't so much the presence of the prequels, but that some of the prequel missions are boring. Whatever your opinion of the sequels are, they have a ton of set pieces that would translate well to a video game. Hell, Rise of Skywalker badically had a videogame plot.
I'm glad indie devs are keeping this genre alive since AAA isn't interested anymore. Although this is looking big enough that calling it "indie" may not be fair anymore. Perhaps AA?
Like most I prefer GX, in fact it is my favorite game if all time. Not racing game, game. That said, X holds up shockingly well. Probably the most responsive controls of any game released on the N64, and it somehow maintans a smooth 60fps running at blazing fast speeds. I even think the simple visuals hold up well.
@MaxiPareja Sure, but this is a port of a 2D fighter that fit on one DVD back when it came out on the Xbox 360. 14gigs is a fairly large discrepancy from it's original 5 or 6.
@Spiders I'd love to see Uniracers come back, but it's trapped in legal limbo. Pixar sued Nintendo because they felt the unicycles looked too similar to one they made in a short film called "Red's Dream". Some judge agreed and rulled in their favor, basically deciding Pixar owns the trademark for generic cartoon unicycles.
I'm fine with the switch sticking around a few more years IF they can broaden the first-party release lineup. Two of the biggest upcoming releases, BotW2 and Splatoon 3, are direct sequels to games already on Switch. They will sell well mind you, but earlier entries already sold systems, and sequels aren't necessarily going to convince new folks to pick up a Switch. If say, they put out Prime 4, F-Zero, and a no gimmicks Star Fox all in 2023, that might bring back some older core-gamer folks (with balls that drag on the ground because they are soooo huge) that have stayed away up until now.
Hopefully now that COVID is calming down and they've expanded their teams a bit, Nintendo can kick the output up a notch. Because that was always what did them in around year five or six before.
That's cool. Milestone is one of those developers that feels like they are bordering on the edge of greatness, but never had the budget to fully realize their vision. Kind of a poor man's Codemasters for bike games. Hope this success helps to change that.
@Greatluigi The first 2D one is great. I enjoyed the 3D games too, but even for the time the camera was bad. Might be a hard thing to forgive if you tried them for the first time now.
@BabyYoda71 I agree, short is not necessarily bad. I'm in the middle of Mirror's Edge: Catalyst right now, which is much longer than the first but definitely not better. Still great though, and even does a few things better than the first, however I don't see myself replaying it as much as I did the original.
I'd say ideal length depends on the genre, but in general I find a game being less than 10 hours a plus.
I had a fantasy where Nintendo would hire Platinum to make a game about a Federation trooper from Metroid, and it would basically be Vanquish 2 in all but name. This was before Federation Force came out mind you, so if by some miracle this did happen they should call it Metroid: Shock Trooper or something.
@Nintendo4Sonic Yeah, Milestone's track record seems to range from kinda crap to halfway decent. But I did get Gravel on a steep discount recently and have been enjoying it a lot. Graphics aren't great, but handling is a lot like Sega Rally with some sim elements sprinkled in. That got me a little more excited for Hot Wheels knowing they have it in them to make a fun arcade racer, when not tied down to a motorsports license.
@Zeldafan79 Ha! Yeah! People are already complaining about how the PS5 sucks at ray tracing and has to drop to 30fps to hit 4k for most big releases. And I'm just sitting there asking myself if anyone actually plays games, like, for fun anymore?

I just want Tekken X Street Fighter to actually happen.

Well now I want this Ganon's origin game too, but there is no way it will ever happen. Damn you both!

Re: Square Enix Shares Fresh New Details For Life Sim RPG Harvestella
Concept is neat, and the screenshots make it look like they gave it a pretty substantial budget. Color me interested.

$65 million? If only they would spend that kind of money fixing their faulty joycon issue.

Does anyone really have nostalgic memories of the Wii version of Flatout?

This could work. The Wii ports of the old Harry Potter games were alright. Most people say it had the best version of Order of the Phoenix.
