@nhSnork I wanted to compare PatF with a CGI movie that wasn't very good, but the same box office disparity applies when compared to Bolt and Tangled. In any case, the upcoming Wish has a mix of hand drawn and CGI animation in it, so if we want more of that, we all better show up to the theatre.
@nhSnork I mean, Dreamworks and Disney moved away from hand drawn animation because their cgi movies were making more money. Princess and the Frog was a last chance for the medium, and it was outperformed by Chicken Little. I'm not saying it's a good thing, it's just the reality.
@theModestMouse It's not really a card game in the traditional sense. I'm not that into card games or even turn based jrpgs, but I enjoyed both BKs a lot. Their battle systems are very unique. I can't think of any other games to compare them to.
@johnvboy You already answered your question. I'm not sure ARMS sold well enough for Nintendo to give it a sequel. All the other launch window games have one at this point. I'm bummed that even 1 2 Switch seems to be a higher priority than ARMS 2.
@roboshort Yeah, this is probably true. I was stoked when Platinum was hired to make Starfox, thinking it would be a beautiful, viceral, over-the-top thing (like flight levels in Bayonetta). But what we got was very tame. Wish Nintendo had let them cut loose.
@valharian I'm with you on this. Prime remastered seems like something you release to build hype for the new game, especially considering the rumors they were sitting on it for years. I suspect Prime 2 and 3 will be shadow dropped along side a release date announcement of 4.
@Chaotic_Neutral This isn't a great comparison. Star Wars and Marvel are oversaturated right now, and recent movies and shows haven't reviewed that great. People don't feel compelled to run and see them just because anymore. Guardians 3 reviewed better than other recent output, and is doing well because of it. Mario hasn't had a movie in 30 years. This one was going to do well even if it sucked. It's gotten huge because most people liked it. And lets not forget, Youtubers were calling Mario woke for girl-boss Peach. They had to walk that back once the movie was a hit, and hope nobody noticed.
@TenEighty I was a preschool teacher when Frozen came out. Boys were into it too. Just like we all loved The Little Mermaid as kids, but got too cool to admit it a few years later.
@Rykdrew Did Nintendo publish Cruiz'n Blast? I thought they allowed Raw Thrills to self publish it or something. Either way, it did not sell a million.
Astral Chain outselling Bayonetta is kinda surprising. Not upsetting or anything, just surprising. Also, glad to see ARMS seems to keep slowly moving up. If they had cut the price to $30 when Min Min joined Smash, I bet it would have broken 3 million.
@nessisonett @burgerkingsauce @Murkyelm @TheBigBlue
Now that I think about it, those guys called the Sonic movie and anti-woke win too. Which seems like an even bigger stretch.
@Snow-Dust God, right? They put so much money on one-note Hollywood big names, when there are actual voice actors out there who could single-handedly cover 10 characters. Games too. If AAA budgets are getting too big, there is any easy cost you could cut that would have little impact on quality. Most cases would be an improvement.
@BrianJL I'm in the same boat. Not big on VNs, but I might get this to encourage Disney to do more Tron stuff. Probably more effective than my other plan to stand outside Bob Iger's house shouting, "Let Jared Leto make Tron 3 you cowards!"
@Dragonslacker1 Cutting out 4K textures and compressing the sound will bring the file size down quite a bit. It will still be big though. Doubt we'll ever see COD on a cartridge.
Really Ollie? You picked Gamecube but forgot to mention F-Zero GX? SO MUCH ANGRY!!! I suppose one could argue it was a joint venture with Sega, but anyone who looks at it that way would have to leave the Namco developed Smash Bros Ultimate out of the equation as well. I would pick GC as well. The 3D growing pains were largely gone, so most of the library holds up well.
@Lanmanna I have truoble getting into turn based jrpgs as well, but these games have unique battle systems that are a lot of fun. Origins especially kicks up the pacing a few notches, and takes quick reflexes to manage. These and Grandia 2 are the only jrpgs I've ever managed to finish.
@Greatluigi These games are great. I rarely finish rpgs, but made it to the end of both. The battle systems in these are a lot of fun, and the art is beautiful.
@Divide_and_Wander It's not really a card game. Attacks are tied to cards, but battles play out in real-time. It actually takes quick reflexes, especially Origins.
@TotalHenshin Yeah. It's because a few years ago the Supreme Court made a rulling that expanded arbitration way beyond it's intended purpose. Now everything has it in their EULA.
@HalloHerrNoob Other than Pokemon, direct sequels on the same system tend to sell quite a bit less with Nintendo franchises. Mario Galaxy 2 sold much less than the first, OoT trounced MM, Mario Party 8 sold way more than 9, and it might be a stretch to compare Goldeneye to Perfect Dark but same with those as well.
Modern games take so long to make that 6 years really doesn't feel that long anymore. Used to be 5 years would net you 3-6 entries in a popular franchise. Or maybe I'm just old now.
This whole thing just makes me sad. Hellena Taylor is an underrated actress. Basically an improved version of Claudia Black, while also being the poor man's Claudia Black (to be clear, I love Claudia Black). Sucks her career never went that far, and that she's struggling now. Tragic that the current fiasco is the most attention she ever got, and also probably the last we will ever hear from her.
I hope she finds mental and economic stability, and I hope Bayonetta 3 is the most successful game in the franchise.
@Rika_Yoshitake Seems like a plan guaranteed to backfire. Hard to believe she's actually that stupid, but maybe I'm just simping because her voice is so goddamn sexy.
Ever since the $15,000 tweet, I'd been wondering if this was a misunderstanding. Like, they offered $4,000 per session, and she thought total. So she countered $20,000 total, and they thought per session. I have no way to know if I'm right, but the numbers both sides have been throwing around would add up. She even said she had a friend translate a letter for her, and who knows how fluent their Japanese is.
Not sure if I'd rather be right or wrong about this.
I'm not boycotting the game, but I'm also not sure if I will play it. Every cutscene will remind me of this mess. Just gonna sour the experience. I want to play this, have been waiting for years, but my frustration at the situation will have to die down first. Sucks either way, Taylor was perfect.
Wet. I get why a lot of people don't like it, but the haphazard mashing together of Max Payne, Prince of Persia, and DMC is fun despite all the jank. Soul Calibur only It's only half a game, but what's there is well made. Tron Evolution Battle Grids. Of its five modes, three kinda suck. But one of the good ones is light cycle racing, and despite it's faults is the best attempt at that any game has ever done.
Nice! I was looking this up on Steam the other day. Release date said TBA 2022, and I thought at this point it wasn't going to happen. Sometimes I love being proven wrong.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?
I'm thinking Metriod could be cross-gen. ARMS 2 that works in the console's new gimiks would be neat.
Re: It's "More Difficult Than Ever" To Collaborate With Nintendo, Claims Picross Developer Jupiter
@AtlanteanMan They said collaborating with Nintendo is difficult. Just releasing a game is still easy.

@HolyGeez03 1-2 Switch outsold ARMS. Which makes me want to vomit.

@nessisonett Anti-woke? Wasn't this movie called woke because Peach fights and stuff.
I can't keep this nonsense straight anymore.

You're right Goncalo. Tron Evolution: Battle Grids is the best Tron game.

@Electric-Dreams This is true, but the cartoon Tron: Uprising is a close second. Also has an excellent soundtrack.

@Axecon Even back in the day, I didn't really get into this game. Never finished it. Save your money for Baten Kaitos. Those were the best GC rpgs.
Re: Soapbox: Switch Is Great, But The GBA SP Was The Pinnacle Of Public Transport Gaming
Could not agree more. I'm hoping at the tail end of it's life, Nintendo releases a clamshell Switch Mini (Switch Xtra Light?).
