Miitomo is out now in a number of countries in the West, and in its first few hours has managed to seize a lot of attention on social media. That's the whole point, of course, and we suspect Nintendo will be rather happy with the start it's made.
#Miitomo has started to trend on Twitter, at the time of writing appearing near the top of the trending list in the United States and the UK, for example. Though some are posting about it off their own back, plenty are using Miifoto to share images - the app rather cleverly automatically adds hashtags, ensuring a steady flow of tweets.
Tweets have varied from official big-hitters to lots of interesting Miifotos - we've picked some out, including some early efforts from the Nintendo Life team and friends.

The app seems to be earning some positive comments from users so far - it's tough not to be charmed by the Mii characters.

Let's now see how arrionsphere says that its not the mii that miitomo has made profit!
Good to know. Hopefully the numbers will also bring favourable results.
It's addictive (I still refuse to accept that "addicting" is a real word).
And very fun, something you can play for a minute or for hours.
I didn't make the page?! Lol jk
Anyone want to befriend each other on Miitomo? Add me on Twitter and I'll follow back and stuff!
Twitter: @Juxionine
The adding Twitter followers option makes sense now, doesn't it?
One example of trending Miitomo activity I saw is from all-around lad Charlie McDonnell.
I got it this morning, it feels very well made and I very polished, just needs to get my friends to get it. This is better than I expected
Using it isn't going to make Nintendo money.
Who is spending money on It? That's what I want to know.
Also, the half naked Miis are not welcome when you are using tweetdeck at work and I've got a column where naked human looking objects keep appearing. Thanks a lot, @ThomasBW84!
@XCWarrior Hey, the hotpants have to be seen.
@Rikaria going to get cat ears and tail with that? >:3
@Juxio same here @helloimgaydo
@ThomasBW84 whether in the real or digital world... no, hot pants should NEVER be seen.
I've played around on it for over an hour. Its pretty cute and fun, very much like Tomodachi Life... but I can see how the novelty of it will wear off pretty quickly for most people.
Yay for no friends
@MadAdam81 Yeah, I really don't like when people say "addicting", even though it's likely used correctly in most cases.
There's much more interest in this than I was expecting. It's nice to see it at the front of the home page on the Google Store app. I'll give it a good try later
Most people will give it a trial run today and the next few days. Will be interesting to see how it will hold up.
It is no game even tho it got a super boring minigame.
The app is not letting me connect my My Nintendo to it. As soon as I tap that option, I get taken to a page in my browser asking me to connect with my own Mii, but then it takes me back to the app and tells me it can't connect..?
Very glad Miitomo is getting attention! Still need to meet up with my actual friends to add, as I'm not on Twitter or Facebook, though.
I'm stuck on a loading screen every time I try it.
'Loading... 100%'
But surely that means you've finished loading you little tease!
@Rikaria Eh, I am. But that's set as my default browser and it takes me there automatically. :/
It does seem like fun, but as someone who isn't on Twitter or Facebook any more, and has no Nintendo playing friends (boo hoo), I'm finding it rather limited. Oh well, I'm fine just having it as a little distraction from my solo gaming!
Hey anyone looking to add friends on miitomo hit me up on twitter @hawker_jonathan
@Rikaria Got it, thanks a bunch!
@GravyThief I know the feeling none of my friends play Nintendo either! Hit me up on twitter if you want at least one friend. See my post below
Please Nintendo, release Miitomo in Mexico
@XCWarrior There are advertisements in the game.
@Juxio Done (@HermeticMrFox) I never use Twitter, but Nintendo are using their powers of persuasion!
@GammaPhonic I added you too.
@amiiboacid Ahhh... in that case, thank you for letting me know. Now I REALLY won't download it. I only play 2 mobile games - PAD and FFRK - and a prime reason is that there are 0 ads and they don't make a point to tell you there is payment options.
I have no friends in Facebook that play Miitomo... my poor lonely mii.
I am failing to see what use this app is. I can only add friends from people who follow me on Twitter or from my friends list on Facebook. Why do I need another pointless messenger app when both Twitter and Facebook do the job already. It's just pointless.
@Miiamoto I didn't find you
Can anyone tell me how to get the experience points for popularity. I've been stuck at needing 3 XP to level up and have commented on countless questions and hearted many more. I have not gained a single XP.
I like how there is no mention at all that the app does not work on rooted phones. Where do you think all those negative reviews on the google store are coming from? Lol. And so Nintendo continues to piss off more and more fans...
@kiigu if you have twitter feel free to add me @hawker_jonathan
I like it actually.
Got about 5-6 friends so far, mostly N-Life and CAG members in our LINE chat, but it's kinda neat.
I especially like the steady income of coins.
I already got Zelda:Twilight Princess Picross!
Also, DKC Returns Wii (VC download) is available to purchase for 1,000 coins despite NOT being sold on the North American eShop. And WarioWare Touched DS (VC download) for 3DS. Guess it's been repackaged as DSi Ware. So 3 exclusive games.
Nintendo have actually forced my hand. Haha. Please add me @meagregraeme.
I can't link my mii even though ive changed the settings
not sure where saved qr codes go.. they aren't on the SD card :S
If anyone wants to add me, im on Twitter @Raptor1978
Really sucks that it's region blocked. I have the apk of Miitomo and it works alright, but when trying to link it to my Finnish Nintendo Account, it tells me that my country of residence is wrong.
In Nordic countries we use english anyway in apps so they should just release this now. I will definitely not even try it out if they try to force to use Finnish language in the app only.
@DaviesNik if anyone could spare some space for a new friend
I've also added everyone I've seen on here so far
For those who're currently outside the US but have US Nintendo Accounts, you can download Miitomo via QooApp apps.qoo-app.com. Basically the app let's you install country-restricted (JP/KR/CN) games on your Android phones (the app downloads games directly from their respective Google Play stores so it's legit, so no piracy or modifications whatsoever). The Japanese version of the installer (apk) is just the same as with the US one. It's just that you need to download the latest one, v1.1.1, to actually link it to your Nintendo Account. The app will adjust it's region and language automatically once installed.
...Or you could just look for the Miitomo apk from mirror sites if you want but it should be the latest version. I just find it easier to use QooApp since it can update the app. If you were to just sideload it normally, obviously Google Play won't update it for you. It applies to PAL users as well, I think.
It's times like this that i think maybe I have outgrown Nintendo. Watching grown men play with this childish, goofy giggle fest app and say things like "it's super cute". Is this the twilight zone?
Meh.
