A leap day might feel like a magical "extra" 24 hours to some, but for many of us it was probably just another day. For Ubisoft, at least, it was the day to start some boffo discounts on a ton of its Wii U and 3DS eShop inventory in North America.

DANG! THATS AWESOME!
Uh...don't you mean Leap Day?
Those are some great deals btw! Is that ZombiU discount a permanent one?
Seriously, Europe gets crap when it comes to sales. And I don't just mean on Nintendo systems either. This is further proof of that.
Perhaps I should move to the US.
I may finally jump on that watch dogs and I've been told Splinter Cell is pretty good. I have all that I need other then those 2.
Been thinking of checking out Assassin's Creed... 3 or 4?
@Timlatshaw Somethings wrong with one of those prices on Zomie U I would assume.
I actually really like Rayman Origins on the 3DS - it has really great use of 3D! And it plays well.
Guys,
Rayman Legends and Splinter Cell Blacklist are PHENOMENAL games. Like really, really great games. Splinter Cell Blacklist even rivals MGS imo... Well ok it's not THAT good but it's probably the best stealth game I've ever played, MGSV aside.
And Rayman Legends? Hoo boy, lemme tell you. If you bought New Super Mario Bros U, buy this game. It's just as good- perhaps even better. Only platformer it's second to is DKC Tropical Freeze
Isn't that every Ubisoft game released on 3DS & Wii U?
@Neko_Ichigofan Today was so slow, it felt like lead. ; )
@Spoony_Tech Thank you both for pointing out the typos!
I would give Rayman Legends a try, but Origins had such slippery, lofty platforming that I was really turned off by the game. I'm used to tighter controls when it comes to platformers, akin to Rare's DKC series or even Retro's DKCR and DKCTF.
Good deals, nonetheless.
@DefHalan: I've been playing through Assassin's Creed III and have been enjoying it, but the general consensus online seems to be that IV is better (I have yet to play ACIV).
If I weren't against buying retail titles on the digital front, I'd probably pick up Watch Dogs; the game seems to be $20 and under on other platforms by this point, whereas it's still retailing here and on the eshop for $29.99.
I'll finally be picking up Rayman Legends.
I remember waiting for the game anxiously, before Ubi decided to postpone it's launch to coincide with the 360 and PS3 versions, before being inevitably lost in the GTAV hype.
Told myself Ubi wouldn't see another dime from me, but alas... A great game is a great game
I just got Tetris Ultimate out of this. Eh, pretty good for the amount I paid.
Also, anybody whose been waiting out on Rayman Legends should get on the wagon now. I played it and hoo man, one of the best sidescrolling platformers I played on the Wii U, alongside Yoshi's Woolly World and Super Mario Maker (despite being a creation tool). I may as well buy the game at that price later down the line (before the sale ends).
Ghost Recon Shadow Wars' da bomb, but all the other discounted 3DS games are supposedly mediocre. Is Ubisoft's output on the portable really so poor? (except Shadow Wars of course)
I've grabbed Rayman Legends. I'm tempted to get Tetris as well.
Some REALLY nice deals. Is the Wii U version of AC4 good?
I know PC is best, but for this I would prefer to play on the TV.
Mostly because I don't have a good chair :/
Now, if only NINTENDO did some of these deals... (Though I'm fine with the Nintendo Selects; those are great!)
Prices like these almost make you forget what was the big deal with Rayman Legends. Almost.
(In case you're wondering, I own it digitally on my Wii U.)
I'll actually consider these
@AVahne Really, really bad framerate (check out Digital Foundry's videos), but other than that it's a solid port. I'd still recommend the PC version over the Wii U version, but if you can bear the 20-25 fps, then go for it.
Does Rayman Legends have a lot of levels and content? How long does it take to beat?
@DefHalan
I've got AC3 on Wii U and AC4 on PS4. I found them to be the best Wii U games Ubisoft made. I like Rayman Legends and got it for 12$ a few weeks back and Watch Dogs is ok (the police are aggressive, which I like and the environment is uncomfortably monitored which works for the game's premise).
AC4 has far less hand holding than AC3. If you'd prefer to ease your way into an (eventually) harder experience, AC3 is the way to go.
I prefer the characters of Black Flag and the improved ship based combat, but both are alot of fun.
Ill be getting rayman wii u
In my opinion, the best game in this list is also one of the cheapest: Child of Light. If you haven't gotten it already, please do. It's an absolute steal at that price.
Looks like I'm spending 55 bucks or so. Curse you Ubisoft.
Fantastic deals but between already owning them on Wii U and receiving them for free via Games with Gold I don't see anything for me unfortunately. Fantastic deal on Splinter Cell though. That game is amazing!
I'm grabbing Child of Light for sure and possibly Rayman 3D.
It feels like a crime not to grab that Rayman games for $7.5, but I'm currently broke from all Fire Emblem Fates stuff.
I do believe I'll be picking up Rayman Legends now.
@FragRed I feel your pain dude, we get sweet FA when it comes to Europe sales
These are some really good deals. I highly recommend everyone to at least try out Rayman Legends and Child of Light. Seriously, one of the best modern day platformers for 10 bucks, and one of the most unique RPG's for less than 4. That's insane. Aside from that, I also strongly suggest downloading Assassin's Creed: Black Flag and Splinter Cell Blacklist. They're pretty good action games that the Wii U doesn't seem to get anymore.
The 3DS sales aren't as strong, but if you like Fire Emblem, you need to try out Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. It has really good turn-based combat in a unique setting (even if the story isn't too interesting). Rayman 3D and Splinter Cell 3D are also good ports of Rayman 2 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, respectively.
Might be time for Rayman Legends. Never played Origins, though
If you haven't tried Rayman Legends yet, I highly recommend you do now. One of, if not the, best platformers on the Wii U.
How can they think charging more for ESPN Sports Connection than AC3, or 4, or Rayman Legends, or Splinter Cell makes a fraction of a bit of sense? Decent prices, but man. What are they thinking there?
@AVahne I had a good time with ac4, it's the most fun of the assassins creed games imo due to the pirate theme. It ran fine for the most part for me. A few framerate issues on cut scenes and heavy action extremes but nothing that ruined the flow of the game. The game does that on all the versions I've seen on other consoles anyway! The game pad works really well as a map too which is nice
@DefHalan I tried AC3 when I got it on sale for $15 a year or two ago. I got a little ways into it before I realized I found it clunky and boring—and I'm a little bit of an American Revolution nerd.
@ricklongo yep. COL is a fantastic game. Great look and feel with interesting combat mechanics. Enjoyed it a lot.
Very nice. Too bad I've had more than enough to do lately.
This is a pretty good sale, but I have most of the games I want from Ubisoft already, so there's nothing for me. I would highly recommend Rayman Legends for anyone who doesn't have it though. It was a great game.
@FragRed
you obviously have not seen some of the sales over in Europe. EU Gets some sales that blow NA's out of the water, NA get some sales that blow EU's out of the water.
Awesome deals. I will certainly get Child of Light....
And maybe Rayman Legends. I think I'll get Blacklist and AC later...
@JaxonH is Blacklist anything like Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (amazing game if you haven't played it already)? If so, maybe I'll shove Rayman Legends down for later (already have it on PC, so..)
I have Child of Light on two other systems already... should I buy the game for the third time on Wii U? Eh...
@abbyhitter Sorry I don't know hours to complete, but it has a plenty of content. Anyway you slice it, the game is very, very fun. Much more fun than origins, in my opinion. It's fast paced, too. It stands out as an action platformer even on the Wii U with it's huge variety there.
@MetaSmasher
If you haven't played origins, it makes Legends a better deal because many of the stages are in it as extras just slightly remixed.
At that price Child of Light is just worth it as a demo, right? Maybe you find out it's not really your cup of tea and you don't feel like playing it all the way through but you still get a couple hours of play before you decide that. I really enjoyed the size of the game as it didn't take forever to complete and yet had a reasonable amount of depth and strategy to the combat.
Splinter Cell is awesome just be ready for lego city like load times that don't have a bar. However just like Lego City once an area is loaded there are no load times. Great game but I think I have to restart as it's not a drop and come back to thing.
I have all the Wii U games except for the dance/fitness, sports and Marvel one. Maybe for that price the Marvel game might be worth it for local player not too sure though.
Going to get Tetris and Recon on the 3DS.
@Neko_Ichigofan I don't believe so. Though over here in Canada, it's actually $9.99, a whole five bucks cheaper despite our dollar being worth less than crayon-marked Monopoly money. So I imagine it'll be ten for you as well.
@FTPinkRabbit Nope it's $19.99? >:0
Okay something strange seems to be going on, Rayman Legends is $7.99 right now on the US Wii U eShop. I'm thinking there's some sort of technical issue going on right now!
There are some ok deals here like Child of light, but I don't like to purchase retail games as digital downloads. I much rather have a retail copy of these games for about the same price, Like right now I can get these games for about the same price Brand New at Retail.
Assassin's Creed III - $10.00 (from $19.99) Eshop Price/ Retail Store Price $14.99
Watch_Dogs - $15.00 (from $29.99) Eshop Price/ Retail Store Price $19.99
ZombiU - $14.99 (from $29.99)Eshop Price/ Retail Store Price $11.99
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist -$10.00 (from $19.99) Eshop Price/ Retail Store Price $14.99
Um, Rayman Legends is a steal at that price. If you don't have it yet, do it.
Holy carp I was expecting to add 10 bucks to all those prices in Canada but Recon is the same and Tetris is just five bucks more.
Hugs Ubisoft and deficates on Nintendo
@Vee_Flames
Haven't played that game, all I know is I never liked stealth games until Splinter Cell Blacklist. It's got a great system where you silloette white outline while hidden in shadows, and there are so many ways to approach each level. It's also designed so that you can use combat if you want, lethal or non-lethal.
I typically tried to go stealth, but if I was spotted I was able to use some slick technical fighting to get myself out of the jam. It gets crazy at some points- SO many soldiers and if even one of them sees you you're in for some Desert Storm level warfare lol...
You have a plane which is your base, and you can explore and find hidden stuff between missions, it's just awesome man. Love that game.
***EDIT***
And for the record, the Guantanamo Bay mission is LEGENDARY. Breaking out of Guantanamo is insane (or was it breaking in? I can't remember). But ya it's video game legend
Holy fart. Any of you people who've not played Legends, buy that immediately. Stop missing out on one of the best third party games on the WiiU.
Damn that's an amazing sale. Maybe I could pick up Rayman Origins and Child of Light, at those prices it's a steal! Don't really care for the other stuff though.
Watchdogs and Splinter Cell are both awesome on WiiU. Played and beat each twice.
monthly sale events now a thing with noa. good work, nintendo. since it's noa, reggie gets a star.
@DefHalan 4 is a MUCH better game then 3.
Black Flag is the best, you are a ******* pirate. If you need more reasons than that I worry for you.
They seriously should have made a pirates franchise based off that engine that wouldn't have the AC story holding it back after Black Flag.
I recommend Rayman Legends, Child of Light and AC Black Flag.
I think I'll finally get Rayman Legends now. I've been curious about the series, especially when he was "leaked" for Smash Bros., but never gave the guy a chance.
@SetupDisk Thoughts on playing AC4 w/o playing any of the others? I know about all the modern day stuff and don't really care if I'm lost in the story too much, as long as it's fun. Anything relevant left out of the WiiU version? I was going to go ask on Push square but since you seemed so fond of the game...
Hopefully Europe will have something similar.I would very much like to add Splinter Cell and ACIV to my collection.Never played either series before and these 2 seem to be among the best of them.
Wheres Cory in the House DS
Literally everyone should get Rayman Legends at that price. That is a great deal for what I STILL consider the best Wii U game. Largely because literally every other Wii U game of high quality doesn't focus on the gamepad, so yes, it is the best Wii U game specifically.
Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is actually awesome! got it from the last Ubisoft sale and so glad I got it. Finally got to beat it last week! If you enjoy tactical strategy games like Advance Wars, Fire emblem, or even chess I think you'll enjoy it as well!
I was expecting a first person shoot but turned out to be a top view kinda rpg!
@Goob
20-25 FPS is fine for me considering the price here is really low. Now if it were to be running at 5-15 FPS, that'd be another thing...
Anyway thank you and @ULTRA-64 for the info. I'll probably end up getting it on Wii U.
What about Europe!?!
Maybe the problem with third-party games on Nintendo systems is pricing? We'll pay full price for Nintendo games but don't want to for most third party games because they aren't as good and we don't really care unless they are cheap.
Just bought Rayman Legends. Thanks for the notification NL!
@rjejr
There was an exclusive dlc sony got but it was nothing major, just a short quest line for some weapons. On the other hand there was other significant DLC the Wii U version didn't get. I only have it on Wii U so maybe ask on Push Square if the dlc is worth getting it on another system. If your other choices are only 360 and PS3 I would definitely get it on Wii U though.
Either way it's a fantastic game and not knowing the AC storyline doesn't really affect most of the game as the interesting story is in the past as a pirate.
Rayman Legends is the best platformer on WiiU hands down, and the best implementation of gamepad together with zombie U. Tons of replayability with the insanely difficult timed stages. Everyone should own that game on the platform.
BLack Flag is the best AC ever made! You are a pirate and you sail your ship, what you want more?
Cloudberry Kingdom for mii now, might get something else later.
Wow, these are some awesome deals. I hope they will come to Europe later as well.
@TheNine It is an awesome game!
I'd go eShopping... if I lived in North America.
Wow, really glad to see Rayman Legends getting some attention again. It and Splatoon are probably my favourite titles for the system.
With that out of the way, should I get Child of Light? I'm not really into RPGs, but this one does look on the shorter side.
Watch Dogs should be on your Wii U if you've ever bemoaned the lack of 'core' games. It plays great, with tight controls, and allows a completely blank canvas approach to missions. There's great variety in the toolset at your disposal. It also looks as good as any game I've seen on the Wii U and I've experienced zero glitches after 37 hours of gameplay. The integration of online matchups works really well too and they're great fun. Cutting off your nose to spite your face if you avoid this one.
Rayman Legends is awesome, played it on PC and it was a blast, one of the best platformers...it's just so insane, senseless fun. Splinter Cell Blacklist is a very good stealth game, if you liked Conviction you'll FREAKING LOVE Blacklist.
I never got into Watch_Dogs...it just never grew on me, and I honestly don't like the AC games either. Great deals nonetheless, Child of Light at that price is a total bargain and you all should get it.
This is good. I haven't played an Assassins game in years. Which on should I get?
@River3636 I owned both on wiiU. Black Flag, hands down is the best, and the franchise best together with AC 2. Ac 3 is pretty boring, imho
Is Watch Dogs worth that $15?
Already have Rayman Legends and Watch Dogs, and everything else in that list is rubbish. None for me this time!
Ubi published Cloudberry Kingdom? I did not know that.
Otherwise I live in the UK so this is rather pointless for me. Though I would recommend the Assassin's Creed games, they're quite good, though I think my liking of 3 is an unpopular opinion.
I understand the chosen headlines, Rayman Legends is one of the best games that Ubisoft has ever made and one of the best games of the generation, too. Of course, the best Rayman game, too.
Rayman Legends is not only one of the best platformers ever, the Wii U version is also one of the best CO-OP games ever. The GamePad implementations are very clever.
Child of Light for close to four bucks with taxes? What an amazing deal! Too bad I received it for free on Xbox One.
@smashbrolink Yes! It is very good.
@smashbrolink Yes. Great open world, easy to get sidetracked with side missions and online interaction. An unjustifiably maligned game IMO.
Blag Flag here I come. I won't play it for a while though. Fire Emblem is sucking my life away and pokemon yellow on down time.
I guess I'll finaly get Rayman Legends, now.
My wallet, she's crying, literally, so many games at such low costs that I can afford.
It's crying tears of joy, time to add Rayman Legends to my library, might pick up some others as well.
Hey Nintendo, this is how you discount games! We own Rayman Legends, it's really good. The thing that stood out to me besides how much fun it is, is the amount of content. At that price, you can't beat it.
I'm interested in Tetris, the 2 AC games, and Splinter Cell.
@SetupDisk Thanks, its Wii U or PS3 for me. By the time I get a PS4 it will be too late. Reason I ask, Injustice Gods Among Us was on sale on Wii U for abut $5 recently. When I went to DL it I noticed about $60 worth of DLC and I just couldn't be bothered going over it all. About a week later the same game was on sale on PS3 for the same price but came with most of the DLC included. So I bought it on PS3.
Has anyone tried Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth? How simple are the motion controls? My 3 1/2 year old plays games with me once a week, and she's a bit of a Marvel fan.
Watchdogs on WiiU is an amazing port that deserves FAR more attention than it got. I've put 20 hours into it already and am nowhere near done with the game--so much to do.
@Undead_terror I didnt think it was very good, myself. Neat idea, but gets boring pretty quickly...
@smashbrolink Yes. I'm playing it currently--it's worth more than $15.
@TTGlider Agreed--me as well. People would be crazy to skip on these deals. I dont even know which game i enjoyed better. Splinter Cell's stealth and plot was killer (load times notwithstanding).
Everyone should buy Ghost Recon Shadow Wars - such a great game - if you like Steamworld Heist or Code Name Steam - two other fantastic games
Wonder why these titles have never gone down in price permanently. I picked up Splinter Cell 3d. For $8 it's not bad
@amishpyrate Permanent price drops are permanent, they can happen only once, and there is no time incentive to get the game. On the other hand sales can happen again, and again, and again... more $$$
Almost tempting to pick up Rayman Legends digitally just so I won't have to put the disc in to check out daily challenges...
@Neko_Ichigofan To be fair, the US dollar is worth a bit more than the Canadian one. They may just be making up for it.
@mowerdude Really? I'm just the opposite. I used to always get retail, but now I prefer to have it on the system and ready to go at any time. Shelf copies are great and all, but digital's good too; especially for 3DS stuff.
Most of those 3DS games have been on sale for cheaper, so I'll still hold out.
@Browny Legends has multiple characters with different physics, but the physics are much tighter this time around.
Downloaded AVENGERS and it keeps crashing. Called Nintendo and they told me to call Ubisoft. Anyone else have this problem?
@FTPinkRabbit The problem with going all digital is what are you going to do if your system ever died's and nintendo quit's supporting it you just lost every game that you have bought by going all digital where as if you have retail copy's of games you can just pick up another system for cheap.
@mowerdude as of last month, you can get them on a replacement system if yours dies, but yeah I do acknowledge the issue of the servers. That said, they still have the wiiware servers up, and I think there's supposed to be something in place to keep them from unplugging that stuff.
@Spoony_Tech As a player of both, I would totally recommend.
Watch_Dogs is FAR from perfect, but it has a lot of charm in that goofy sci-fi hacking-means-video-games type Hollywood style. The narrative is pretty solid and gets a LOT more depth if you read into some of the details, and the gameplay is essentially a faster-paced Splinter Cell with some unique stealth elements.
Splinter Cell is difficult, but mostly fair. Weapons are a blast, plot is nicely self-aware, stealth is delightfully challenging and action sections are engaging albeit a little frustrating at times. Plus, the game looks GREAT. I'm rarely excited for graphical stuff, but this game looks awesome on the Wii U.
Hope you enjoy the sale.
Rayman Legends, Child of Light, and ACIV are all great games... otherwise, nothing to see here.
