This is the kind of stuff that fans are so blind to. That one line was excellent: "people don’t like finding out that their fanbase is actually too small to justify the costs of the thing they want". That's the truth. Because it's important to you, it feels huge to you. And you find other people who feel the same way and you feel like a majority. But with some exceptions, that's usually not the case. And with the text, it's not quite as simple as translating a book word for word. A game is interactive, so there's context to be considered, multiple branching choices, then it all has to be consistent. That's a monumental task. So even with a game like Xenoblade that has impressive sales for a JRPG, it likely did not make as much money as people think.

I wonder if they plan to split this between the Wii U and the NX like the did Twilight Princess.

@MikeW That is true. I was caught up just thinking about the racers because that was the original comment. I agree that if you take the tracks and carts/parts into account, it doesn't make sense. Apart from all that, I do agree that it seems overpriced to just get one fighter. Now, if they threw in some levels with him, that'd be different.

@MikeW Probably related to the level of work and maintenance that goes into the fighter versus a MK8 driver. There's a huge amount of data and tweaking that has to be done for a SSB fighter. A Mario Kart 8 driver is essentially just a model.

I think anyone who frequents the Amiibo Reddit knows how often info like this flows in, then turns out to be wrong. I would take this with a super-grain of salt and I'm really surprised that this of all things was chosen to be reported on here.

I try not to be bitter at Capcom because in the end, I realize they're just trying to make money. But they have burned almost every bridge with me when they decided to bury Megaman. I will say they got a small glimmer of redemption by releasing Tron Bonne finally on PS network.

It took me all of 7 minutes to call and place a complaint. I'm one to at least try something to make a difference. You never know, Nintendo did the Ambassador program when they dropped the price on the 3DS within 5 months of release, so I could see them doing maybe a digital reward as compensation here.

Just got off the phone w/ Nintendo. They said they're not doing anything about it right now, but definitely call in and POLITELY lodge a complaint about it. They're reps are usually super nice, so please do not be a jerk to them. Just let them know how much you spent on these discounted physical rewards and how much you would've saved if you'd waited to buy them at the discount. There's no guarantee anything will happen, but I'd imagine if they got enough complaints, they'll do some kind of compensation, if only some free digital games.

TLDR: Call Nintendo, POLITELY lodge a complain and something might happen.

I think the term holy grail is throw around way too easily. I've seen some items described as holy grail (Bandai's World Track or whatever it was called for NES) that went for a ridiculous amount, but then there's this for less than $10k. There should only be one holy grail. I'm starting a petition.

Yea, I think it should've been more NES remix style. This is nothing more than a glorified demo generator where you can't control what game you want to demo.....

@MrMario02 Can you really back that claim? I'm not saying it isn't, I just think it's one of the most popular mobile games due to it's excellent marketing and merchandising.

AFAIK, NA Club Nintendo is finished adding prizes, so I don't think we'll be seeing anything else new.

From what I've seen, Jakks Pacific has pretty low quality standards, at least for the World of Nintendo figure line. I saw some of the World of Nintendo figures with botched paint jobs and shoddy looking models. So I wouldn't be surprised if these are also pretty shoddy quality.

@Sakura I agree. Streetpass works about as well as described in this article, I would constantly be making special trips to specific spots to do it. Without Homepass, I'd never have bought any of the premium Mii Plaza content.

Wow, Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage?! Man, I've been waiting for these to be ported all my life!......sarcasm aside, it'd definitely be fun to play Sonic and Gunstar in 3D......I might actually pick up one of these.

For me, the super stable 3D and increased navigation speeds were more than enough to convince me to upgrade. I can't go back to the old 3D now. But this is a great added bonus.

I'm not understanding why people are complaining about this. The DSi came out and only it had the capability to play DSiWare, which completely shut out the previous DS generation. This isn't even nearly as bad as that was, at least on the old 3DS you still have the eShop. I would prefer for Nintendo to upgrade the capabilities of the system so people at least have the OPTION of having more content than not do it so people don't feel left out.

@Sir_JBizzle @Kaze_Memaryu I might have misread, but the way it sounded was the Mario Party - Mario Amiibo was exclusive to that release, though I have a hard time believe it as Kaze says. As far as the rarity of the figures, I imagine some of these will continue to be rare, but others I believe would likely get reprints.

@Kaze_Memaryu Except even the normal Mario Party - Mario amiibo is going to be somewhat rare since it only comes with the MP10 bundle, at least in the US. But still, yea, in 5 years (maybe even 1 year), will most of us care about these things anymore?

lol, eBay is just looking out for their own interests. It is very much in the interests of eBay to draw in auctions like these. They make 10% off the auction plus another 3% minimum from Paypal (albeit, some of that may go to card processing fees). I'm surprised by the post on the one hand since it is such a touchy subject, but on the other hand, I'm really not. My favorite was when eBay was acting so chivalrous when the US was looking at passing Internet tax laws and eBay was opposing them vehemently "in the interest of its users" when the fact of the matter is the law would've been a big blow to eBay itself.

Not sure if you can tell, but I have sort of a love/hate relationship with eBay lol.

@Porky FYI, you can always delete the update data (at least on the cartridge based version) of any game. It's not a permanent thing, in case you ever wanted to go back.

I agree with this, the set date/time for preorders is a great idea. The only problem with that (which online retailers may or may not be aware of) is that when you do that, your site gets hammered at that one time. I mean, even the random release times caused some sites to struggle to bear the load. But I agree that's about the only option. Some other options would've been to provide a "preorder ticket" via Club Nintendo to allow purchases direct from Nintendo's store. I don't agree the limit should be 1 though, I think 2 is probably a more fair limit as many people (myself included) like to buy one to open and one to keep sealed. I don't think it's the people buying 2 that caused the issue, it's the people buying 20 or more.

@Chaozrush21 I think the ability to side-by-side the game with TV was pretty cool, but other than that, it's pretty much standard Xbox.

@Ryno Please don't get him started on that....at this point in life, people reselling things on eBay should no longer be a shock to people.

I was actually really pleased with the final NA rewards. I was only a little surprised they didn't offer the Zelda LBW OST over here, but seriously, they had some good stuff.
