I love how they make this sound like it was deep-secret, undercover, investigative journalism when it has pretty much been public knowledge for years that Nintendo offloads the repairs onto another company. I mean, the return address on the package shows where it came from 😂
@PharoneTheGnome I agree with the caveat of also having a way to cater to collectors. Reprinting games brings down the value of the old ones, but like with books, first editions typically retain their value. For games, maybe reprints don't include the packaging, just the disc/cart in a generic case and maybe with just a generic label. Something to keep them from competing on the market with the original releases but lets people who just want to play the game have a cheap way of getting it. Obviously on platforms with digital, we already have that model, but on something like GC and older, it'd take something like this.
Can we please stop calling everyone who sells something at a high price a scalper. Scalpers are people who intentionally buy up all stock up front to IMMEDIATELY resell it to people who otherwise would've just bought it from the original source. It's basically someone cutting in front of you, buying something, then turning right around and selling it to you for 50% more. Someone who buys something, even lots of copies of something, holds onto it for some years and re-sells it later is NOT a scalper, they are an investor. Scalpers are looking for a quick-buck and want as little skin in the game as possible.
Tbh, I feel like anytime someone feels angry that they missed out on something, they just blame "scalpers", regardless of whether they are actually in play or not.
Expensive but probably reasonable considering how much the physical OSTs go for these days. If you just want to listen to them though, as some pointed out, there's Spotify.
These timed events are kind of dumb tbh. Just a way to try to get people to buy these games sooner rather than later, but I bought this game and would prefer to play it and enjoy ALL its features at my own leisure.
@joey302 Mannnn, what you said! I was literally just thinking the other day, I wanna pick up some of those old TMNT games. This is great, I'll definitely pick it up at some point.
I'd love to know more about the clone checker. Like is that a global feature or just local? I'm wondering if I have received a clone in a trade, is that Pokemon going to be locked now even though I don't have any other copies?
I'm still confused though, it says you can't add funds, but doesn't the 3DS/Wii U share the same account as with your Switch? I'm pretty confident my balance is the same across both services.
@rogvc There's so much misinformation here. All that's stopping in March 2023 is the ability to buy the games. You can still download anything you've bought beyond that date. But we are still at the mercy on that as well. This is why I go physical when possible.
I enjoyed the original pokemon titles, but I agree 100% with the comments on Legends Arceus's improvements. I've never felt so immersed in a Pokemon game before to the point that I forgot that there was a main objective and just interacting with the Pokemon is fun. Like the only reason I want to proceed through the game is to unlock more areas to explore. This game not only met my expectations, it raised them 100x.
@apl1989 Yeah, welcome to the gaming community. A magical world full of knee-jerk reactions and absolute judgment for every action from every angle. 😂 This is the same community that wishes death on people for buying tiny figurines and reselling them on eBay at a higher price.
Step 1) Download the Metroid Prime Trilogy ISO (only if you own the disc version, of course)
Step 2) Download PrimeHack (Custom Dolphin Emulator for Prime)
Step 3) Download Metroid Prime Trilogy HD Resolution textures
Step 4) Enjoy your Metroid Prime Trilogy Remake with Keyboard/Mouse controls. It was like playing a brand new game, although it made the games a bit too easy 😅
Later in my life, I've been one to keep things legit and legal, so I frowned on emulators, ROMs, etc, (unless you had rights to it, of course). But ever since Nintendo decided to turn Virtual Console into a subscription service with barely any offerings, it's pretty much solidified my decision to just buy some flash carts so I can play what I want without a perpetual fee.
@Tourtus Right, I just hope that the EMMI are not like the 'main villains' of the game. The trailers show some other prospects, so I don't think it'll be the case.
Is anyone else having trouble accepting that these dinky little research robots are giving Samus more trouble than all the enemies she's fought before?!
From what I can tell, these don't even open. For $100, I'd expect it to at least function as a Pokeball as well 🤦🏻♂️ I get that it's solid quality, but it's still a $100 paperweight. At least the old McDonald's Pokeballs they gave away many years ago actually opened up 😂
Tbh, when I was seeing those auctions, I felt like it was bogus. I actually thought the buyers were just driving the price up to mess with sellers. Heck, I remember back in 2006 or something someone sold me like multiple sealed NES games for about $30 each, among which was Mario 3, Megaman 3 and maybe Final Fantasy. So there's a LOT more of these sealed games out there.
@TuxDC You know, while it'd be a little more 'real' than the Pokemon series is known for, that'd actually be an interesting move to make and would probably drive home the pain of real-life extinction if they pulled some favorites.
I'm just glad I broke free of Pokemon. I love the heart of the series, but reading through this thread really helps me feel like I made the right choice 🤦🏻♂️
