Mega Man Legacy Collection will contain plenty of goodies, and one of the most appealing is the challenge mode which features speed runs, remixes and a boss rush element.
That's right, you can fight the characters who are arguably the stars of each title, and even use their own weapons against them - something that naturally isn't possible in the originals games, as you have to defeat each boss to claim his weapon.
The sheer number of classic titles contained in this collection will keep you busy for some time, but with the addition of this challenge mode, the longevity is extended even further.
Mega Man Legacy Collection will hit the 3DS next year.

Isn't this already possible in the original games? Whereby you fight each boss a second time towards the end of the game and can use their own weapons against them?
I do wish that this Legacy Collection added the remaining four games though. They may not have been released on NES but they round off the original Mega Man storyline.
I don't see this being as big of a deal of using a boss weapon against them since you can do it always in Wily Castle stages during the rematches. That is how I always beat Metal Man. (1-2 hits depending on the difficulty dead using his weapon on him).
Uhm...and this is new...how ?
You could always do this at the rematch later on, and its not the best idea anyways except for some early game quirks like MetalMan.
In my opinion, this is hardly worth mentioning and it still doesnt redeem this abyssmal "Legacy" collection.
This hardly seems article-worthy.
"Mega Man Legacy Collection will contain plenty of goodies, and one of the most appealing is the challenge mode which features speed runs, remixes and a boss rush element."
Not really anything mind blowingly worth buying this game again for.

So basically... Dr. Wily's boss rematch level... Only timed?
"The sheer number of classic titles contained in this collection will keep you busy for some time, but with the addition of this challenge mode, the longevity is extended even further."
You mean all six original Mega Man games?!?! Sheerly huge numbers! All six can be beat in 6 hours. Busy for "some" time, I guess...
Um... Damien McFerran? Fighting Robot Masters with their own weapons isn't new. You can do that just fine in all of Dr. Wily's boss rematch levels. So, how is this news-worthy again?
Boss rushes are cool, but, as others have stated, it can happen in Wily's Castle anyway. This game still sounds great, but not enough for me since I already own the 6 base games.
Everybody's said what I've originally thought. Yep, pointless.
@Jimtaro lol, yea, I think the article writer has not played Megaman games before.
Came in to post the obvious mistake but I have been beaten to it repeatedly.
Aside from the obvious article oversight, I'm still appalled that this isn't coming to Wii U. I mean, being in Smash was the most prolific Mega Man has gotten in years, and Nintendo can't even strike a deal with Capcom to have this legacy edition of NES games come to their current home console? It blows my mind.
@ricklongo Well said! If I may add to this, what would be so difficult in adding, at the very least, 9 and 10? I own both, but I downloaded them on my original Wii and really don't have access to them anymore. It'd be nice to see both of those titles in handheld form.
Slow news day...
@ricklongo The WiiU already has the VC downloads. That's why they don't bother, obviously. No big loss either, really. We already have the games. So what?
@KeeperBvK So does the 3DS, yet it's getting the game. If anything, this is further reason to actually bring the collection to Wii U, digitally at the very least.
Has Mr. McFerran and anyone else reporting on this actually played a Mega Man game? I know people are already harping on this but it's an incredible oversight for a games-focuses newspage. It's kind of like there was breaking news that, yes, you can use fireballs against Bowser in Mario Maker.
That's not a dealmaker feature for me, Capcom, sorry. Cute, but pointless.
@ricklongo The 3DS getting the release doesn't make a Wii U release any better a decision. Why on earth are people complaining that Nintendo isn't getting its fifth (or sixth when counting the 3DS collection) release of the very same 6 games? Even on a console that already has them? Just play the VC releases, especially given how lackluster this package seems to be, when apparently their biggest selling point is something the original games already featured.
@KeeperBvK This is much cheaper and had the extras, which may not interest you but certainly interest me. Not to mention, there's a retail release.
I'd be hard pressed to think there's more of an audience for this on Xbox One than on Wii U.
Looks cool, but why aren't all games in there, especially with Anniversary Collection being a thing. I really hope they make another one including the final four Mega Man games, or at least make them DLC for this.
@ricklongo and if you've never played the games, but you're looking to get into them, this is a much cheaper and easier way to do it.
I'm disappointed that there has been no announcement of remaking the GB games. Seriously, a collection of MM I-V, remade in the Mega Man 10 engine and reformatted for the 3DS screen would be a Day 1 buy, especially if remakes of Mega Man XTreme and a proper Mega Man & Bass were included.
