@edhe yep, that’s the one. The RNG’s all sorts of messed up on that one and it’s absolutely game-breaking when a Ruler shows up too early in your game. I like that the game requires sacrifice at times, especially at higher difficulties, but I just feel like you lose all control over who lives and who dies with that expansion turned on. For a game with a HEAVY reliance on RNG in just about every single mechanic, losing even more agency just wasn’t fun game design IMHO.
One time at work, maybe about 10 years ago now, my SUPERVISOR caught one of the newbies with his email still logged in. He proceeded to mass email his contact list a "coming out" email, on which there was family members. It was absolutely vicious. I remember being like dude, you just got yourself fired FOR SURE. And that's the story about how I became the supervisor.
I'm still into logging in once a day. I plant my bells, find the money rock, the fossils, the message in a bottle, Nook Stop bonus, etc. I do a bit of shopping, maybe shower Pompom with gifts, who knows. I've got a good group of about 8 or 9 people that we play the stalks with. I'm actually enjoying it more now than when I was building my town up and getting to 5-stars. The QOL when you're trying to do big projects is absolutely horrendous. Now that I'm kind of in maintenance mode, it's back to being cute and whimsical again.
The man sure does know how to make a good stoner flick. Although, some of my favourite Nolan pictures were written with his brother Jonathan (Memento, the Batman’s, Interstellar), who brought us the fabulous Westworld on HBO. Now I wonder how much of the DNA of those films is actually the brother. That show kind of combines the non-linearity of Memento with the brain-bending scifi of Interstellar. Good stuff.
Yeah, not convinced at ALL. So did they really not do anything to address the controls?! It’s just the same scheme as before? This review does little to address what has changed for this “remaster” beyond the obvious. So basically worse performance than on Wii U and not a single attempt to address any of the shortcomings the title had initially (of which there were MANY). Lazy work from Platinum, and another one for the books on the history of shady Kickstarters. Always a polarizing title, and by the sounds of it, if you didn’t like it before, there’s no reason why you’ll like it now.
Easy. Never even played the game or know anything about it, but any cover that doesn’t look like an N64 cover gets my vote. N64 covers are all just the WORST. Designers, drunk with power over the discovery of computer generated imagery, left to their own devices. It’s truly horrid stuff.
I've been predicting the second screen thing for a while. Imagine using a Lite as your Wii U-style controller to an OG Switch for Wii U/3DS/DS games played on your TV?! Swish yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
Colours seem off to me in both the PAL and NA scans, the saturation is off in the PAL and there’s a blue cast to the NA. However, even if these were good scans, the design is just better for the Japanese version. Still all bad though! The N64 covers, man. What a dark time for design.
It ruined the game for me, really. I found it completely annoying/broken, and I’ve since moved on to other games. The bungled mess of poorly thought out events piled on top of each other this month combined with ZERO QoL features, less than zero even. Maybe give it another shot if they do a MASSIVE QoL patch. Which is to say I’m likely done with ACNH, because that for sure is not going to happen.
I'm very close to 300, I hope it happens to me and then they patch it out on the 12th. There is a literal invasion of eggs right now on my island, it's overwhelming. Who's sending me all this friggin' pollution?!
@Grandiajet I’ve got a big tip for wasps: always shake the tree from the front and you’ll always be facing them when they come out, quick swipe of the net once your surprise animation finishes. If you don’t have your net equipped, open your inventory and not your key ring and you’ll stun them while you equip through inventory.
The camera is atrocious. I think a workaround while still keeping the roller aesthetic would be a 3rd camera angle that is directly top down. It switches to this camera already when you build a fence behind a building. Should just be a standard angle. The mystery islands need to be better, I’ve gone to like two interesting ones, and the rest are just copies of my own island. I still haven’t seen anything other than the three flowers I already get on my own island, luckily I’ve gotten a few online. Maybe I’m just unlucky, but you should be able to get all your other flowers and fruits from repeat island trips. Batch crafting for sure, crafting from storage when you craft at home, I also find the drop rates of the sky egg and the water egg are just too high. I’m out here trying to make these bells and all I’m doing is getting distracted by balloons and fishing up goddamn eggs.
I’m pretty sure the game is exactly how the developers wanted it to be.
My friend and his gf share an island and they’re loving it. Their island also puts my island to shame because there’s almost round the clock work happening.
Just sell for bells until Blathers is good to go. I don’t find any of the creatures in this game are that rare that you can’t just catch them again in a day or two.

I'm excited for this, even though it's likely just going to be the most expensive Mancala board I've ever purchased.

Re: Feature: XCOM 2 Collection Port Specialists Virtuos On Bringing The Series To Switch
Loved vanilla XCOM 2, hated almost every single piece of DLC that came out for it, especially Alien Hunters.
But hot dang, can't recommend the base game enough. So, so good.
Re: Want More Authentic Art? Just Evict Your Smug Villagers In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
My preference for data mine content would be to at least make it avoidable by not putting it all in the freaking title.
