I don’t know how anyone could look at the PS5 situation and think “better release some new hardware!” I highly doubt this is indicative of anything other than a famously risk averse company continuing to minimize their risks in light of supply chain disruption.

Do these games work fine as standalone titles? I’m in a rare mood for a big RPG right now and this might be it, but I haven’t played any in the series and I’m just not a big enough RPG fan to go back through old games in the series.

An upgraded Switch means upgraded components which means even longer queues and stock difficulties. The Switch’s lower end components are giving it an incredible leg up in the component shortage, it’s just now starting to be seriously affected. I would love to see them hunker down on the current SKUs and just pump out banging software for a few more years while the supply chain sorts itself out.

This is a weird one. If you had confidence in your game, you’d release it digitally too, wouldn’t you? I definitely wouldn’t be buying this expecting a great game.

They’re really pumping out these Pokémon titles, aren’t they? It’s amazing people still have such high expectations haha. Arceus was OK, it certainly stands out amongst the Pokémon lineup, but stacked up against other games with similar mechanics, it looks unfinished at best. I predict Pokémon goes live service at some point, sooner than later too.

This looks like Nintendo on autopilot. What happened to the spark of the earlier Switch titles? Other than Dread, haven’t played my Switch since Animal Crossing. Low effort title after low effort title.

The Switch was the platform in the best position to weather the pandemic, they would be dumb to not capitalize and squeeze as much life out of it as they can. The PS5 still struggles with availability and IMO, a really poor library overall save for a few gems.

This is why gaming is going to hell in a hand basket. People keep buying absolute garbage and sending the message that it’s totally OK to charge people for absolute garbage. IT MAKES ME SO MAD. Expect this stuff to only get worse in the future, the floodgates are open.

I can’t wait for the dust to settle on blockchain/distributed ledgers technology, because the space is so absolutely dominated by grifters and gamblers trying to cash in that potentially legitimate benefits and usages get lumped in and subsequently written off. It’s really hard to parse the good from the bad right now.

Fascinating, you can see the birth of another dumb Nintendo rumour play out in real time in those tweets. One tweet turns into two tweets and the echo chamber results in news sites talking about “Nintendo Kart” like it’s an actual possibility (it isn’t), which causes people to start wishing it was a possibility (again, it isn’t), ultimately becoming let down when it doesn’t come true (it won’t).

This game is incredible. High style, moody, addictive, I literally love everything about this game.

My prediction is everyone will be angry and disappointed regardless of what happens. There, I’m an industry insider, I’ve made the most accurate game industry prediction of 2021.

Please don’t buy this game. It’s enabling the worst trends in game development. Find the originals somehow if you’re that curious or nostalgic.

Those defective piece of trash controllers have proven to be quite a money maker, I bet. A true master stroke of capitalism, take advantage of your company’s goodwill and rabid fanbase to keep selling the same broken product to people over and over and over again. When I see people being like “I’m on my fourth pair!”, almost with a sense of pride, I can’t help but shake my head.

I think the GameSpot criticisms are fair points, a purely nostalgic offering that will likely be lost on some folks. I get more insight from outlier reviews than I do from a bunch of 30-something’s all saying “now THIS is Mario Party!”

Tear downs show that a few years before it’s limp, floppy and experiencing drift would be VERY lucky.

Hard pass on the input lag alone, who cares about a bit of fog when your actions are that far off from your inputs. How did they manage to make it even worse than it is in Mario 3D All-Stars?

Unpopular opinion: this game isn’t very good. The n64 library has not aged well. There was a shock and awe effect at the time around 3D graphics in general that has well and truly worn off. They look bad, they sound bad and they play even worse.
