Happy Bunny Day! Yep, if you've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the past few weeks, you'll know there's been a special seasonal event where you gather as many eggs as possible and then craft them into bunny-themed items and furniture.
Today is the final day, and to go out with a bang, Zipper has returned to your island paradise. He can help you out by gifting specific eggs to complete certain DIY recipes – provided you're willing to part with some of your other eggs. He's also offering some extra gifts if you supply him with one of each egg (leaf egg, stone egg, earth egg, sky egg, water egg, and wood egg).
So, collect all those Bunny Day eggs and recipes, and craft them while you still can. For more information, and extra details, check out our full Bunny Day guide. Will you be booting up Animal Crossing to experience the final day of this event? How have you found it so far? Leave a comment down below.

I didn't mind the Bunny Day event itself but it dragged on a bit. Had all the recipes by the second day so it would have been nice if more and more happened as the event went on rather than just waiting for the 12th.
Zipper needs to RUN as fast as he can. After all this, no wonder the guy seems stressed.
Not to mention, as I mentioned before, I'll obviously remember this event because it screwed me out of getting pretty much anything cherry blossom/Sakura related.
Finally the eggs will stop littering our rivers and skies.
You three above me ain't half rabbiting on negatively. Happy Easter Sunday eh?!
Lord I hate that bunny. Those eggs made getting the cherry blossom stuff hard as nails.
I've crafted the rest of my eggs and sold them. I've kept one of each of the crafted items.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. At least I have K.K. to look forward to tomorrow (the event was delayed by Saturday's fishing tourney and Bunny Day today).
I had nowhere near enough eggs or recipes so i sust crafted what i had and sold it all to the nooks lol.
I know it's been said before, but I hope this Easter egg hunt mess is not the template for all types of holidays. Digging up pumpkins for Halloween or shaking baubles off the trees for Christmas in order to craft tacky furniture would seem deja-vu right? And yes, having it overlap with the Sakura event in the northern hemisphere made me miss a few recipes as well.
After getting the reward I have retconned Bunny Day to being the Best Event Ever!
@Lalivero the bunny day balloons didn’t lower the spawn rate of regularly balloons, though, which have a chance of spawning every 5 minutes (and there’s ways to guarantee the spawn). Those balloons were additionally. The only thing the bunny day balloons did there was add additional balloon spawns which might be overwhelming if you don’t just wait on the side of the island where balloons spawn and watch for them every 5 minutes.
I got all but one cherry blossom recipe (and had a friend craft that missing item for me), but it took a lot of farming. Dozens of hours... they really should’ve raised the spawn rate for cherry blossom recipes. Recipes mostly spawn in green balloons (so already that’s 25% of balloons on average, or roughly 3 an hour - a balloon is never guaranteed to spawn every 5 minutes but has probably about a 50/50 chance to spawn, which depends on what you are doing right before the spawn time, so make that 1-2 an hour) and not all recipes from regular balloons were cherry blossom either, so realistically you may get only one every two or three hours (assuming you’re doing nothing but focusing on every balloon spawning). Then add in the fact that you can get duplicates (which I got several of) and the result is, once you get around half the recipes, you can go a good 4-6 hours and not get a new cherry blossom recipe. Those rates are insane to begin with. I probably spent 20-30 hours farming balloons to get 13 out of 14 recipes, and I was popping a solid colored balloon almost every 5 minutes during that.
But I will say this event made the fishing tourney worse - even knowing only medium sized shadows could be eggs, avoiding those shadows just made it take longer.
I hope future events don't overlap anymore. Looking for sakura recipes wasn't fun with all the egg balloons flying around.
I am relieved simply for the fact that I will never have to collect another egg ever again (or atleast for another year). Life in Animal Crossing can finally go back to normal, my experience without this felt all too brief. This event wouldn't have annoyed me so much if it didn't last so long, I think a week tops would have been enough.
It was just annoying having these things pop up every time I was out collecting resources and fishing and so on. Oh how I hated those water eggs, in fact this whole thing made me hate the concept of bunny day in general. Doesn't help how I found the egg recipies to be ugly.
@ShadJV I didn't get a chance to play much for the fishing tourney because I was either sleeping or working during it, but I had opposite luck for what I got to see... only saw one water egg.
And yeah...I guess the bunny day stuff messed with my mind a bit in that it was all over so seemed to meddle with what I thought were regular balloon spawn rates. I actually hardly saw -any- regular balloons the entire event until that last update a couple days ago, which is weird as heck if Bunny Day wasn't s'posed to interfere at all then. I think I only have one Sakura/cherry blossom recipe.
@Lalivero Yeah I only got one cherry blossom recipe, and it was for a picnic layout. I would have much preffered just having the cherry blossom event as opposed to this bunny day deal overlaping it.
@Lalivero yeah, I don’t know what the spawn rate of the bunny day balloons was before the update, but I do know the regular balloons still had the same chance of spawning every five minutes, could be manipulated the same ways as after the update, and their spawns weren’t replaced with bunny day spawns. With the amount of balloons I was seeing before the update, I wouldn’t be surprised if they spawned every 2 minutes, which would be nearly three quarters of the balloons, so it was indeed overwhelming and hard to spot the regular balloons unless you waited on the island edge to watch them spawn in. After the update, they had the same odds as regular balloons: they could spawn every 5 minutes, independent of regular balloons, meaning every 5 minutes either one bunny day balloon, one regular balloon, one of each, or neither would spawn. The bunny day balloons also moved faster which made them not appear to spawn at the same time unless you, once again, were watching the spawn point. For the record, the balloon spawn time is when the clock’s minute ends in a 4 or a 9 (but they spawn off screen so you often don’t see them until it’s a 5 or a 0). Trust me, I had this down to a science, which is the only way I got nearly all the recipes... and honestly, it SHOULDN’T be that way. Casual players should be able to get all the recipes, this series is built for casual players. The bunny day event got annoying but the cherry blossom event independently had issues. Players who time traveled before the bunny day update had the same spawn rates. I was hoping they were going to have some sort of way to make it up to players because the event was poorly planned, but it looks like they won’t. A shame, because the blossom set looks way nicer than the bunny day set.
@ShadJV If they had the same rates, then yeah I just had crap luck. I was playing around the same time I was before the event and I know I was running into (reg) balloons on the regular but then hardly saw any of those during the event until the last update or so.
I didn't mind the event but just too much stuff going on at once for someone who wants to play more casually like ya say.
I got all the Bunny Day items crafted plus extra eggs, but I only managed the picnic set for the Cherry blossom event.... In fact I didn't even know there was multiple recipes!
I also missed the fishing tournament by 2 minutes. I logged on 3 minutes before it ended and needed to craft a rod first. By the time I had a rod, it was over. Again, I didn't even know about this.
Are these things supposed to be known? I'm new to the series for the most part.
@Kabloop Some of us have lives dude.
I stopped playing the game completely because of this...too many eggs everywhere, and I'm still haunted by the balloon sounds. >.<
@Silly_G I had K.K on Friday, or is this your first time seeing him?
@dkxcalibur There's been a note about it on the island's message board since last week and when there's new messages posted a bird will be sitting on the board as indication. Of course, the game does nothing to explain any of this. The game leaves a ton of stuff for you to either figure out on your own or try to look up online.
Sorry you missed out on the Fishing Tourney, but there'll be another in a couple months.
@carlos82 It would have to be his first time, otherwise K.K. would have showed up on his island Friday.
Wow that bunny is Agro 🤣🤣 makes me laugh so hard when I speak to them haha! Everything crafted and time to sell me eggs now. I will leave the Bunny day horror room for today and then clear it out ready to be a bathroom 🤪. I have fun with this, and think I have all the cherry blossom recipes, couldn’t make the wand sadly, maybe next year.
I think the only real problem with the Bunny Day event is that it went on for way too long, but clearly when Nintendo were planning all this out they weren't expecting everyone to have so much free time on their hands.
@carlos82 : My first time.
@dkxcalibur there will be a fishing tournament every season, so the next one should be in July. Just pay attention to your message board. And such events normally go from 9am to 6pm.
Even if you were fast enough to play one round yesterday, you would not have won anything, as you would not had earned enough points for a present. So don‘t be upset and try again next time.
@Lalivero yeah, stacking multiple events at the same time was poor planning.
Love Day was yesterday moron.
I take it the blossom stuff will happen again next year? Just had a look and I have missed a few recipes from it, so hoping we get the chance again next year.
@CairiB Yes. If you time-travel, I would assume that it would be even better next year as Nintendo has not activated Bunny Day 2021.
Already 😫 I’ve not had time to make many of the Easter gear. For me personally this game has come out at a bad time 😣
Does anyone know how long the bunny day event will go on for? Is it until 6pm like the fishing tourney?
Something funny about Zipper T Bunny on ACNH. 😆
Next year, I'm time traveling away from Zipper.
I prefer to think of it as the day he's LEAVING town.
Well, That was a thing - now - does anyone know if I need to keep all this cr@p?
... especially the egg costumes because my storage space in running out (after upgrading my house about 4 times).
I just find it sad the sakura event only lasted 10 days! I got all the Bunny Day recipes on the first or second day, yet I'm still missing at least 1 sakura recipe. I just wish either the sakura event lasted longer or the game would at least warn how long it's supposed to last for.
That Zipper Bunny DIY Recipe was worth 9.600 bells! Even after crafting all the bunny day items I could still craft about a dozen Zipper Bunnies. I sold all of them and all the Bunny day items for tonnnnnnnnnnns of bells!
After failing to get even the bronze medal award on the fishing tourney yesterday I'm happy to finally finish the Easter event after creating all the eggy recipes and claiming my reward!
I love this game so much I really can't believe I never tried it before on other systems.
Thank goodness! Let this serve as a blueprint for how future events should NOT be! It was fun in concept, but it overstayed its welcome and easily had two or three times too many special items to clog completionists' storage.
Jumped into the game. Everyone's wearing those fugly Bunny Day outfits and I had to collect and trade a bunch of eggs to make the Zipper Bunny Wobbly Toy all so I could get my final prize, a Bunny Day Wand... recipe. That was sure worth two weeks of buildup. See ya, Zipper. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.
@Burning_Spear Yeah, maybe five days of this and half as many Bunny Day items to craft would have been good, especially since the Bunny Day items are ugly and everyone seems to hate them. Hopefully Nintendo has people paying attention to players are reacting to all this stuff, because if this is the template for all other major holiday celebrations... ugh.
@Wazeddie22 I managed to get the Bronze Trophy for the fishing tourney, but C.J. never said anything about it so I assumed I hadn't made it until it turned up in the mail today. The points supposedly carry over to the next tourney, so you should pick up a trophy next time.
@Wazeddie22 Oh also, if you love this one I think you would've really loved New Leaf. Mind you, it seems to me this game will eventually outstrip New Leaf in terms of content, Nintendo is just determined to dripfeed it to us.
@BenAV how you do that I am still missing some....including the sakura festival.
@Juga Yeah, seriously. There were a number of missteps that made Bunny Day such a chore, but the items you have to craft being such gaudy, worthless crap is probably the biggest. If it was actually cool stuff worth having, that would salve the disappointment somewhat.
@Pip_Pipston Yeah. Everybody seems to like the Sakura items way better than the terrible Bunny Day ones, so it's really unfortunate that Bunny Day wound up getting in the way of Cherry Blossom Season for so many people.
The egg thing started to become bothersome by day two. I started selling all my eggs shortly after. It was so annoying trying to catch certain fish and find out it was an egg.
@SwitchForce The Bunny Day stuff was super easy to get early on because the rate of balloons was absurdly frequent. Was outside renovating my island because I'd just unlocked the tools and was just shooting down every balloon I saw which is where I got a majority of the recipes from.
It ruined the game for me, really. I found it completely annoying/broken, and I’ve since moved on to other games. The bungled mess of poorly thought out events piled on top of each other this month combined with ZERO QoL features, less than zero even. Maybe give it another shot if they do a MASSIVE QoL patch. Which is to say I’m likely done with ACNH, because that for sure is not going to happen.
I will be SO happy when "Bunny Day" is over. The event went on for WAY too long and everything you make is terrible.
I held out buying Animal Crossing as I have never played a AC game and it just didn't appeal to me at all. I finally gave in and 3 days ago installed it because everyone is raving about it. I've played it everyday for hours on end, never before has a game pulled me in like this, I understand the hype now!
I’m done with bunny day. I got all the recipes and most of the cherry blossom ones too.
Really not sure why people are moaning about the eggs, the sell for 200 bells each.
There's very little point in being a completionist in this game. I still do it, though... I was going to give up on Bunny day until it said I had only 2 diy projects yet.
Stuff like this is why time-travel is a thing.
I hated this event with a passion, everything about it. Good riddance.
@ShadJV
"Casual players should be able to get all the recipes, this series is built for casual players."
I would say that if you feel a compulsive need to have all of the recipes, then you're probably not a casual player of the series. I consider myself casual, have "only" played for 45 hours since release, and am perfectly all right having only gotten 5 or 6 of the blossom recipes this year.
My wife, on the other hand, has logged more than double my hours since release and had no trouble getting all of the blossom recipes and then some without altering her play habits at all.
I'm swimming in cash after the fishing tourney sales and selling these heaps of eggs, hard to complain lmao
I'm not like, angry about this, because it's just an event in a video game and I made a lot of bells from it, but the Bunny Day activities on Bunny Day lasted about 2 minutes for me. I'd already collected everything without going out of my way and had a bunch of extra eggs, so I crafted the two new recipes and was done. From a design perspective, I get the motivation for spreading the activity out so that players who are busy on the holiday itself can still play the content. But this was probably a bit extreme.
Craft a bunch of stuff with the extra eggs for some good money: I haven't done the math to figure out the most ideal items to sell, but the arch and wobbling toys are worth a lot, so I made as many of those as possible, then crafted whatever I could with the rest.
Also, if this is like past AC games, a full set of holiday furniture usually is an easy way to get a full set bonus from the Happy Home Academy. The holiday furniture sets usually haven't been my favorites in previous AC games, but if you want the HHA score without having to collect other furniture sets, that's one trick.
I'm actually happy this bunny day event will be over with. Tired of shooting, digging, and fishing eggs when I'm not trying to get them.
It certainly was a bit annoying, but I do give credit to the developers for patching it a few days into the event making the eggs much less prominent.
For me, the worst part as of late is how my villagers say the same darn thing about eggs everytime I talk to them. I miss the GCN villagers where I could ask if they wanted me to do anything for them. =/
@Silly_G K.K. came to my town on Friday...
My pocketbook loves bunny day
@Donald_M Oh really? If that's true then that's really helpful because I spent a good few hours yesterday doing that tourney and didant even reach 100 points lol. It's a shame there wasn't a chart or something letting you know how many points you had instead of having to keep going through the same conversations.
As for New Leaf,I still have my 3ds and was actually this close to buying it as it was pretty cheap but I think having two AC games on the go is probably a bit much, considering I'm still heavily into Stardew Valley and My Time At Portia right now.And I know with this lockdown and all we have a lot of time on our hands but usually I don't get half as much time to play.
@Kabloop
Because the distribution of the cherry blossom recipes seems very off. Some got all of them, many only 3 or 4. I
It's similar to the so-called random islands: whilst a few have gotten interesting ones the majority just gets their own island in miniature. Over and over.
Today, we end his reign of terror. Today, we end the suffering he has caused. Today, we KILL a GOD. Zipper T. FLIPPING Bunny has murdered our wildlife, overrun our mineral deposits, and stolen our FREEDOM. But TODAY, that will end my friends. No longer will his eggs reign from our skies like weapons of mass destruction, but we will send our slingshots against him and his tyranny. We will make him cower in fear as we HIT HIM WITH OUR FLIMSY AXES.
I don't know if this was Nintendo's intent. But Bunny Day was over really before it began. So I guess in that sense, it wasn't too bad. Maybe in the future, find a happy medium of giving people ample time to collect eggs and recipes versus dragging this out for two weeks and the rate of eggs and balloons
I think 12 days was excessive, maybe just a weekend would suffice. However, I made so much made so money so 🤷♀️
This Bunny Day event went on for way too long. But selling those eggs gave me $$$, so at least there was something useful about those eggs(besides the bunny day recipes)
And for the record, I think Zipper is an awesome animal crossing character. He is unsettling, he hates being zipper, and his identity is intentionally mysterious. Isabelle's reaction to announcing his appearance drives me mad because she knows something we dont know. Everyone online is guessing. Also if you walk away but keep him in sight, he stops dancing and lets out a huge sigh. Zipper forever
@Crockin I agree. It's a little touch of craziness thrown into the cute and charm that's normally Animal Crossing. I kind of wish we had more slightly unsettling characters (on the level of Zipper) visiting throughout the year
@Harmonie : A good point that is typically overlooked. I too think the animals going on and on about Bunny Day was more annoying than the excess of eggs.
I've sold every egg I've come across because I just don't care and think all the craftable stuff I've discovered is kinda awful looking. I don't mind the bunny day stuff overall, I just kinda don't care!
Brief analysis: New Leaf's Bunny Day wasn't my favorite holiday in NL, but it was fun and despite being similar to NH Bunny Day, it was more enjoyable. The furniture wasn't great, but the holiday furniture sets usually weren't my favorites.
NH Bunny Day has a similar activity to NL Bunny Day. In both, eggs are hidden that you find by doing normal AC activities like fishing, breaking rocks, etc. Both use preexisting activities instead of introducing a new one, which means the novelty is likely to wear off sooner than a new activity. That's not bad, but something a developer should remember.
What you do with the eggs is different. In NL, you eat the eggs and some give you prize tickets, which you trade in for furniture. In NH, you collect recipes for furniture and craft them using eggs. Either way, you collect eggs and exchange them for furniture, so a similar event.
The main difference is the amount of time. NL is one day, NH is 12 days. This probably is because 1. The crafting process requires more eggs than NL's prize tickets, and 2. People who aren't able to play much on Easter are able to participate and get some items. But the con is that the novelty wears off quick since the activity doesn't take 2 weeks to do, even for people who want multiples. NL's Bunny Day doesn't have that problem because you collect the eggs across one day.
A Solution: give out the recipes across early April to build hype, cut the egg collection down to a weekend, and cut the crafting requirements for some items in half so it can easily be accomplished in a weekend.
After the first few days gotten all the Bunny DIY, I still collect those eggs ( save on fruits ), they help move trees when the task require for nook point and break rocks ( when it spawn at the wrong place )
Sold all the eggs, don't care for the furniture or rewards!
@Crockin I'm convinced Zipper is secretly Don Resetti. I was thinking Mr. Resetti at first, but no way does he have the patience or the temperament to do this Bunny Day mascot crap without completely losing his s***.
Living in Brazil was an advantage in a Nintendo game for the first time ever. Spring will only happen in September and my Autumn leaves aren’t even brown yet, and I already have half the Autumn recipes. I completed bunny day and got the wand with no overlap, and I’ve already sold most of that bunny stuff to the nooks. Can’t wait for spring!
I prefer the way they did this holiday to having to find the time on what would normally be a busy holiday for me to play Animal Crossing on the actual Bunny Day, let alone try to collect a ton of eggs and prizes on during the day (especially when everyone else in my family wants to do the same thing). I admit it was starting to get old for me as well but felt like I could easily ignore most eggs so I didn't care to much. Perhaps it would have been better if you only had a week to collect eggs and recipes rather than since April 1st.
Apparently I still missed a recipe and as of yet I haven't had time to figure out what it was.
I am curious what the other events will be like I liked the Fishing tournament and managed to snag a bronze trophy. Do the points keep totaling for every tournament? I feel like the gold trophy would be difficult to get for me if they don't.
@Donald_M haha yes he would be a good candidate. I guessed digby, since Isabelle seems to think it's funny. In actuality, I think there isn't an answer, and that it was always intentionally mysterious
Some background...
I’m new to Animal Crossing. New Horizons is my first ever Animal Crossing. I never thought I would ever be interested in the kind of gameplay it offers. I skipped New Leaf because it sounded boring when friends tried to convince me otherwise. I took a chance on New Horizons because, hype. The hype was off the charts. Also I hadn’t picked up a new Switch game in a long time and I guess I kind of had the foresight that I would need something during quarantine...
...I LOVE Animal Crossing New Horizons!!!
So as a newbie, I found the Bunny Day event new and fun and exciting and something to look forward to every day. My style is that I play about an hour every day since the game arrived on launch. Taking that into account, the 12 days of Bunny Day was kinda perfect for me to get all the DIY recipes and collect all the necessary eggs to craft with some extra eggs left over. Perhaps if I played more and longer I could see it getting annoying, but it was pretty perfect for me. The only thing I did really poorly on was Cherry Blossom recipes, not sure why I could only get a handful before the event ended. Bummer.
This game and the Bunny event has made me smile during a really difficult time. I even created a NL account to post this.
It's finally over. Thank goodness
I don’t mind Zipper, but it was to much all at once. Getting Sakura, eggs and fishing tourney done together was too much. A week would have been enough for Bunny Day. Have Zipper turn up on Sunday and leave on Sunday.
Glad he’s gone tomorrow.
Ever since they patched up how many balloons drop by, I have been having a great time with it. I honestly will kind of miss it after it is gone, but at least I have the full collection of furniture to remember it by! The last few days, I have been focusing on improving the landscaping in my town, since Bunny Day was pretty well finished for me. Due to that, I hardly noticed any negatives to Bunny Day, though I will say that for the most part, it forced me to mainly hunt bugs, which I don't mind, since water eggs were all over my rivers/ocean.
I had so many eggs and finished recipes by the time Bunny Day arrived that I only used a handful of eggs today to finish up and I will be selling the leftover egg stacks I have. I suppose this event lasted so long for those who are barely playing the game because 12 was overkill to get everything done for people who play on a regular basis.
I’ve enjoyed the events but I wish i could have gotten all the sakura recipes.
@dkxcalibur the fishing tournament was mentioned loads by characters in the run-up to it, and there was a notice on the board in the twin square.
I only crafted the egg bed. The other eggs will just be sold off tomorrow. I don't think I got enough eggs to make it worthwhile which is a shame as I would have liked to make a full egg room.
@Donald_M Thanks for the heads-up about the board. I thought it was only for messages I post, which seems stupid now that I think about it.
good riddance lol
its finally over
It's over. I enjoyed it. The worst part was the overlap w/ the blossom event, that was just plain stupid. I had no idea the blossoms were only for 10 days, I assumed it would be all spring, or at least April.
And why have a fishing tournament while there are still eggs in the water? Make it next Saturday. I know it's always the 2nd Saturday but for this they should have made an exception, too much overlap w/ Bunny Day, blossoms, fishing. Spread. Them. Out.
Glad I got a lot of eggs, made about 80,000 bells selling egg related stuff. Kept a lot too. Only 1 petal clock though.
Too much collecting 😪 I was miles off getting everything 😆
Is was a pain in the butte if you weren't doing this 24/7 and for the Sakura only 10 days why didn't they not tell us that either I was screwed over didn't get all but few more to get.
Everything is so tedious. Need a weapon wheel like doom to make selection of items faster. With this event it was badly balanced because you could easily farm wood and leaf eggs but the rest were just a chore. And why do items break 😫 I cba to make a new axe and spade every five minutes
I woke up at 5am today, and went fishing, AND I CAUGHT A FISH!! I chopped down a tree, AND I JUST GOT WOOD!! Needless to say, I'm so glad that Bunny Day is in the books, and I hope it isn't as annoying next year. Now I'm off to unload all my unwanted egg crap to Timmy and Tommy. If I could throw it all in my bonfire, I would.
I just wanted to say, playing this game now with all that bunny day stuff gone... it feels like a breath of fresh air. It is like things are finally back to normal, no more living under that oppressive Zipper regime. If they do something like that again I will probably just take a break from the game until it's over, it really sucked a lot of the simple enjoyment out of the game and I never cared for any of the stuff I got out of it.
