Anyone else always forget Genesis is a thing on NSO? Feels like they almost never update it and no one ever talks about it

@Browny as multiple people said many times, the original developers did work on this project because their code is completely untouched. By your logic their names should still be there. It’s not entitlement to want credit for your work when other remasters have done it, it’s not like it’s a huge request for a billion dollar company.

@Browny yeah, Nintendo doesn’t need to credit them. But the point is that they should credit them. It’s not like this is a normal thing, Skyward Sword HD still managed to credit the original developers so there’s no excuse for them not to

@Serpenterror that’s a pretty good point. Nintendo never really has to do damage control on their screwups because they always have a million fanboys defending every horrible decision they make. I really wish I could do some sort of change about it but one guy boycotting them over an issue that, ultimately, will probably blow over and is likely not even on Nintendos radar won’t really do anything. You did make me realize I kinda am a hypocrite, because I bought this remaster and loved it, but still complain about these things. thank you for commenting, gives me a lot of stuff to consider

@Browny you’ve got it completely backwards. Most of the code is left completely intact from the original game. So it’s not you repainting the Mona Lisa, it’s you painting overtop the Mona Lisa. It’s not you recording your own version of the Zelda theme, it’s remastering the original recording. This argument doesn’t work because the original work of these creators has not been changed, and in turn, they should be credited. They should be credited either way.

@nimnio the notion of credits being a “cute tradition” is insane. If they’re just a tradition, then why does every creative work ever made include them? People always deserve credit for their work.

Seeing people defend this is absolutely mind boggling. Who cares if the credits are longer? People deserve to be credited for their work. These people are still part of the game, as their code is all still there and their concepts, art, music, all of it is from them. Seriously how on earth do people defend this

Not gonna spend too much time on the Switch in the coming weeks because I’m FINALLY going back and trying to beat Horizon Zero Dawn. I just beat Breath of the Wild for the first time the other night (outstanding game) and after playing so much Nintendo recently my PS4 is begging to be played. Although I will likely start Stardew Valley, I’ve owned it forever but never really played much. Gonna finally try it out

I love Odyssey and want an Odyssey 2 more than anything, but I also would like to see something for 2D Mario. We haven’t got a new 2D Mario game in like, 10 years, and we haven’t got an exciting one in even longer.

I was heavily considering this but then I found out it doesn’t actually come with the game… come on..

Zelda obviously looks amazing but I’ve been interested in Advance Wars since E3 nearly two years ago now. Crazy to think it’s been that long

Pokémon go is always slowly making anti-consumer decisions it’s shocking to me that people are only getting this upset now. They only do things for the customer when they have no other choice (the COVID additions) but since the pandemic has calmed down they’ve slowly crept to make the game worse for the player. Pokémon go is a really fun game, but it’s just sad to see how little Niantic cares about their players

The really interesting part of this is nintendos opinion of Melee. Calling it Mother 3 level and being told not to mention it is crazy. Not surprising, considering Nintendos past with the game, but hella interesting

Been hard to find time for Metroid Prime 2, but I think I’ll be able to squeeze in a little bit. The Boost Guardian took me almost an entire hour until I realized it was easiest to kill with Super Missiles, so that kinda pissed me off.
Also playing some Breath of the Wild, hoping to finally beat it before the new one comes out. This game is so, so good, I’ve started it so many times but I think I’ll finally beat it this time.

A lot of these comments read like Nintendo fanboys that are blinded by their love for the company. Nintendo still releases some great stuff this year, but also released some not-so great stuff. That’s fine. Nintendo will probably have a far higher spot on this list next year with TotK

2017 was a special time. It felt like pretty much everyone came together and agreed "yeah, this year was pretty great" it's gonna take a lot to beat a year with a new 3D mario, 3D zelda,2D sonic, tons of phenomenal indies, metroid, new sony ip, a fantastic enw nintendo system, and so much more that im forgetting

yknow whats funny? minecraft ran perfectly fine on switch before bedrock. ive had a million issues with bedrock switch minecraft but before that came out, the console version of minecraft ran great (and was a lot more fun with the minigames, imo)
mojang has been really dissapointing me in recent years. bestselling game of all time and the updates are this slow and the game runs this poor?

i would understand this for a special indie game like celeste, hollow knight, etc, but this looks completely ordinary. ive seen platofrmers that look like this for mobile devices.

Both sides of the argument are fair here. Yea the drives and SD cards will die eventually but he is donating them to preserve them. Also, the people complaining about him stretching out the video and stuff are kinda ridiculous, he spent thousands of dollars for this, of course he’s gonna want to get as revenue out of it. He could’ve easily stretched this out A LOT longer, seeing people complain about a 20 minute video is kinda hilarious

Please wait until they actually show the dlc to buy this. They’ve shown zero actual gameplay and the most weve gotten are like, five new Pokémon. Just hold off

@MarioBrickLayer haha Im doing a Metroid marathon! I’ve beat all the 2D games and Prime, moved onto Prime 2 and Prime 3 after. I was gonna replay Dread as my “finale” but I got impatient and beat it again in a week. It’s really satisfying to blow through games you’ve always wanted to beat but never found the time to. Hope you have fun, the Metroid series is phenomenal, my favourite game series of all time

For some reason I beat the original super Mario bros in half an hour when I was bored, so I think I’m gonna try beating the rest of the 2D Mario games since I never beat them for some reason. Mario day celebration, I guess

@MikeJones as someone said before, it’s a more western oriented game. I don’t really know if this would affect sales as much but Prime is also developed by a western studio. I’m not an expert with any of this so take my opinion with a grain of salt

This is one of the greatest remasters ever, and such a fantastic game. So happy to see it sell well

These nominations are.. weird. Yea, kids could enjoy movies like Black Panther and Top Gun (and those are great movies) but why didn’t they nominate other kids movies or animated movies??

This is a crazy list. It shows really just how far we’ve come! It’s insane just how many amazing games NL fit in here when you count the nominations. An impressive feat.

It’s 2017, not contest. Pretty much every year has been fantastic for the switch but having a new 3D Zelda and a new 3D Mario, and both being phenomenal in the same year, alongside everything else released? That’s insane.

I love the Metroid series so much but it makes me feel like a complete idiot with every game, I need help figuring out some puzzles I really, REALLY should’ve been able to figure out on my own

E3 is a sham. Without the big three it can’t survive, at least in its normal state

Japans is a lot better. Samus’s pose is really cool on the NA box art, but the rest is weird. Why are there just pictures of the enemies in space?
The Japan box art gives off a haunting feeling of dread while still showing off the enemies. No contest for me

The great thing about the Metroid series is that basically everything in the main series is quality. We may not get a new Metroid game often, but when we do it’s a great time.
My favourite is Dread (I’m going through the whole franchise, I’ve been a fan of Metroid for years but could never bring myself to beat them for a long time for whatever reason) Dread combines all the elements of the past games and provides the absolute perfect ending to the 2D games. One of my favourite games of all time.

It makes me so happy to see Prime Remastered up in front, Even on the Eshop it’s the second thing they feature right behind TotK. Dread/Samus Returns have finally kickstarted Metroid back to life I’m just so glad to see Nintendo care more about this series again

Just okay. Nothing all that much for me. Prime Remastered is cool, but disappointing that they didn’t do all 3 games. TotK looks great but I’m not sure if there’s enough that makes it different from BOTW yet(or justifies that price hike). Pikmin was cute too. Definitely a lot better than September’s!
