During the March Nintendo Direct it was confirmed that the Splatoon updates weren't finished yet, with confirmation that there'd be two 'waves' of Sheldon's Picks, new weapons that'll provide abilities and secondary attacks a little different from their contemporaries. We now have a date for the first of these updates, with version 2.7.0 coming on 12th / 13th April, depending on your region.
For starters there'll be a brief spell of server maintenance prior to the update going live, which will prompt a bit of a break for eager players - the times are below:
4:50pm Pacific / 7:50pm Eastern (12th April) / 12:50am UK / 1:50am CET (13th April) until 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern / 2am UK / 3am CET.
There'll be a range of game improvements and tweaks, as normal, but the main content revolves around the eight 'Sheldon's Picks' weapons, which will arrive at 7pm Pacific / 10pm Eastern on 12th April in North America and 3am UK / 4am CET on 13th April in Europe. The Splatoon Tumblr page has detailed four of them so far, below.
First up is the Wasabi Splattershot. This beauty is a Splattershot set featuring a few key adjustments by Sheldon. The main weapon is pretty much the same as before, but Splat Bombs amp up its frontline capability. Alternatively, try calling in an Inkstrike to scatter the opposition and give your teammates the advantage. This is just the set for the discerning Inkling looking for something spicy!
Behold the Berry Splattershot Pro! Don't let the tasty paint job fool ya! This remixed Splattershot Pro includes Suction Bombs and Bomb Rush to help punch through the opponent's defenses, letting you finish things off with the great firing range of the main.
The new and improved Fresh Squiffer is a Classic Squiffer retooled to allow a different approach. Pairing Suction Bombs with the Squiffer makes it even easier to get the upper hand in battle, and you can quickly turn the tables on foes with the Kraken! Definitely not a set for squids who are afraid to get their tentacles dirty!
The Permanent Inkbrush is a set remixed by Sheldon to include the high-powered sub of Splat Bombs while retaining the great mobility of earlier models. Recommended for aggressive Inklings with an uncontrollable urge to wreak maximum havoc. Watch out for the Kraken special!
Do any of these weapons appeal to you? Let us know in the comments.
Thanks to all that sent this in.

I really need to play Splatoon again! I was really involved when it launched but haven't put it on in months. All these updates are really helping things stay fresh.
Can't wait!
Finally something new to buy. I have 500 000 coins ready for these.
Non of these particularly intrest me much if only Wasabi Splattershot had Kraken.
@The_BAAD_Man STAY FRESH!
That Wasabi Splattershot will suit me well in Splat Zones
It’s almost funny how much easier splatoon would be to set up if you would be able to just pick the set of three things to fight with.
Splattershot w Inkstrike, exactly what I was looking for!
Sweet!
I already HATE inkbrushes. Giving one splat bombs and a kraken is going to drive me insane.
I might actually use that inkbrush..
There are also lots of stat changes for many weapons, you can check them out at http://www.nintendo.com.au/support/files/Splatoon_Upcoming_software_update_April_13_2016.pdf
I suppose after 10 month's of playing I really should consider using some other than the Tentatek Splattershot... Maybe I'll explore one of Sheldon's Picks... Granted it didn't stop me finally ranking up to S...
Once this hits I'll love the permanent inkbrush, inkbrushes are probably my best weapon. I just curious what the new bamboozler will have, I'm not very good with it but it is one of my favorite weapons in the game.
I'm still using the same roller I've always used 😊
I will check them out not played Splatoon for awhile so would be nice too have afew games.
Charger + Splash Wall is nice.. except that they nerfed the Wall again
Ooh, I'll definitely being using the Fresh Squiffer.
Can we stop with the scrubbershots already?
Ooo, more spattershots with subs I like. Nice.
These weapons all look cool, but I'm unsure how to unlocking of it will work. The only way I can think of is that they will use the spaces after level 20, as the Forge Splattershot Pro comes available at that level. Unless, of course, we get the Berry version at a lower level than the Forge one, but I personally find that unlikely.
We can also see a Bamboozler and a Slosher on the front. I personally hope that the Slosher has suction bomb and inkzooka, and the Bamboozler with Seekers and Bubbler, although I'm not sure that that is really going to happen. I also want a new Jet Squelcher with Squid Beakons and Bubbler, and 52 Gal with splat bomb and echolocator. I can dream, can't I
