Nintendo of America has confirmed that Star Fox Zero will be available for pre-purchase from 9AM PT on April 7th - that's today, in case you were wondering.
Buying the digital version of the game on either the Wii U eShop or online entitles you to an automatic discount of $4.99 against the digital version of Star Fox Guard, which can be applied when both titles hit the market on April 22nd.
Pre-purchasing Star Fox Zero will also pre-load the title onto your Wii U console, which means you'll be up and running sooner than you might expect.
Will you be taking advantage of this offer, or do you prefer to take the physical route? Let us know by posting a comment - and don't forget to check out our preview.

Will we ever get this service in the UK?
@G0dlike Better off without it for this game. It's getting people to buy the game before we know if it's any good. And I always buy digital unless it's unavoidable. I'm predicting that this will get an average score no higher than 75% on Metacritic, more likely 70%.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE day 1 for sure for me! I'm sure it will be decent and the star fox franchise is in my top 5
Getting this physical. I'm getting a good deal on it ($64 with tax). I can't wait to play this game
Is the digital version $60 like the physical version?
Going digital. I'll likely take advantage of the pre-load closer to release since I'm watching my eshop funds in case anything else of interest comes out between now and the 21st
@SLIGEACH_EIRE i'd usually agree with that. don't buy a car without a test drive. don't marry a woman without dating her first. in this case, the car says 'porsche' and the girl is gal gadot, so it's a safe bet imo. i think i'll wait for the spring sale tho'. it probably won't go on discount, but there might be a 'bonus points' thing for my nintendo. doubt it, but just in case.
As long as the price of both games comes out the same, I'll be doing this pre-load. This is my number one known release. Fire Emblem is my favorite series and I'm more excited for this than for Fates. I'm more excited to play this than I am the new Zelda or the NX, too.
Can. Not. Wait.
@majinx07 kind of.
It's $49.99 by itself but +$9.99 if you also download Star Fox Guard. In a way, the same.
Oh so Star Fox Zero (without Star Fox Guard) is $49.99? Nice.
Glad I pre-ordered this back in 2014 for below $60 w/ tax in Canadese maple coins, so I'm good. It's insulting of Nintendo to offer no rewards on physical purchases anymore.
I presume we'll get something similar in Europe so now worries about that! I'll be getting physical I've got that first print edition ready to go!
@Manjushri If you buy Star Fox Zero digitally at $50, it will take off $5 if you also get Star Fox Guard which by itself cost $15 ($10 after discount).
This also works vic versa, so you can buy Star Fox Guard at $15 and get Star Fox Zero for $45 digitally.
Will there be a physical version of Star Fox Guard? If so, is it only to specific retailers or....?
Remember, Amazon does 20% off on physical copy for pre-order and the first 2 weeks after release date....US$47.99 and you can take it to the used game-store and ditch it if it sucks
@nathanbjohnson Only if you have Amazon Prime.
Not a big fan personally of buying retail games digitally, or paying for games weeks in advance, but I do like the pre-download offer so you can get to playing right away. I think having that available is a big plus for Ntinedo. And offering SFZ for only $50 is also nice, people can decide if they want Guard later for $10 or not. Looks like you have to pay for Guard if you buy physical. So some trade-offs, which is good.
@nathanbjohnson @mikegamer You left out the $99 part. "Spend $99, save $12" isn't a great way to shop.
Only 1 minute for the reply, that was quick.
I'll wait for reviews.
@mikegamer @rjejr Hehe, I didn't mean sign up for Prime to grab Star Fox. Prime isn't a video-game discount service....its a service that millions already have and would have even if the discount didn't exist. For me, its a legit 20% discount. I pay $99/year to save a few hundred a year. Clearly the math is different for some.
I'm more interested in Ghost than the main game. I've just never 'got' Star Fox.
@nathanbjohnson It's ok, just thought the $99 price should be mentioned. Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked offers 20% off games and that's only $30 for 2 years.

Best thing about Amazon Prime - well aside from Dr. Who - is it carries over after it ends. I had a free 1 year for 2015, and right before it ended I pre-ordered FFXV and Pokken. Still got my 20% off and release date delivery even though I'm no longer a member. I probably should have pre-orderd more, but I'm not sure when I'm getting a PS4.
can't wait to try out the games once they launched.
Silly @rjejr, who would buy Prime just to get 20% off of video games? Oh and don't buy a PS4 anytime soon, might as well wait for the PS4K.
@Ryno You live? I thought the MS Borg had you. I was thinking of you. My kids door-to-door "Candy sale" offered a Wii Mini if he sold over $1,199. The thing just won't die.
And I'm not saying anybody would or should buy Prime for that, but since the guy was promoting it as a way to save money buying videogames he should mention how much it cost.
And I know more about the PS4k then the NX, and it is a factor in my decision making. Fortuantley Sony decided to annoy the US fanbase and offer us a $400 Uncharted 4 PS4 w/ only 500GB while the EU gets 1TB, so that was out - I'm always cutting off my nose to spite my face, or something. So now I wait for FFXV, whenever that gets delayed until - I'm thinking early/mid Nov. hopefully PS4k is out by then, don't think I can't wait any longer than Christmas w/ U4 and R&C, those are my top 3 games this year. There is no fourth, Zelda lost me. So feel free to mark late Feb/ early March for PS4k as Sony makes us all squirm this holiday.
A traditional StarFox game is finally around the corner after all these years. Comment section: "I'll wait on reviews"

@Ryno Like I already said to my good old NLife friend @rjejr in another article, unless you're interested in Sony's PSVR or want to be able to play UHD Blu-rays on your console, there's no good reason or use to buy a PS4K over a standard PS4, so I'd advise anyone not falling into the VR or UHD movie category to save themselves the trouble...
If you want to read the whole explanation, including a link to a very interesting article on where the PS4K options lie, click this one:

This looks like one of those games I'd want a physical copy of. Starfox games don't come round that often.
I only like physical copies.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I wouldn't go by Metacritic. Regardless Platinum games are involved!!! It has been polished up a helluva lot since they took the reigns of development. Do a barrel roll!
Star Fox 64 & Zero items in Miitomo please!!!
Retail only for me so I've got the first print edition on order, as I really don't want SF Guard on digital. Not too worried about reviews because it's basically a glorified remake of SF64 and that game turned out well.
Not sure I care how it reviews. This was one of the reasons why I bought a Wii U- hoping we'd see a new Star Fox. I will be pretty easy to please on this.
@Mario-Man-Child That's a ridiculous statement to make, that's not how the world or indeed this site works. I'm entitled to my opinion as much as anyone. But you haven't expressed an opinion on the story, instead you've had a pop at me. Marvellous! Your username seems quite apt. I'd like Star Fox Zero to be great but given its development, I just don't see it happening.
@OneBagTravel groannn. You're joking right?
@Zetro Couldnt agree more. If we listened to every reviewer out there, we would all be robots. We arent robots. We are human. We get to act and think on our own. lol. This game will be a hit.
Short development, troubled development, controversial controls, no online multiplayer, not an original game, short game = 75%*
*my prediction.
And I depise amiibo. Day 1 content on the disc locked behind a paywall.
