Not really, the only ones I'd really be interested in are star fox 64 3D, and gunman Clive 2. But I already have those. Maybe I'll get mega man xtreme, or battle network. But I was gonna get metroid zero mission! Ahhhh! There's too many games I want to play!
ooo, Mega Man Battle Network has tempted me a bit before. How difficult is it? I know it's an RPG, but it's not as crazy hard as the main Mega Man gams, is it?
Ok time to get Race the Sun.
might pick up the game "sin and punishment."
lol, I like the name.
Gunman Clive 2 it is. Was just going to buy this the other day too. The first was great but this looks even better. I also temped by punch out, sin and punishment, and final fight.
We'll see because I still have to pick up Zero Mission
@Whopper744 No it isn't (thankfully). A bit challenging here and there maybe, but definitely no where as hard as Megaman. However I've only played 5 and 6 of the series, so I've never played 1-4.
Guess I'm getting Injustice: Gods Among Us. Sure this will be pretty neat to play with a good friend.
I don't want to complain about a sale, but man ... if you compare that with the current PSN Essentials Sale, it's hard to not just shrug and walk away. Those discounts here are really tiny, at first glance 30% or less. PSN offers up to 75% (80%) on some games. It's just hard to pretend that there is not a huge friggin gap between those two services in that regard. Even worse, the number of games on sale is significantly higher on PSN, esp. if one looks at newer/non-VC games. Again, Nintendo has ways to go to even close that gap, not to mention to provide merit that goes beyond that other service (PSN is just one example).
I mean it's 2016 now, and I wonder what they are waiting for? Either they think that the NX is a magic bullet for some reason, and that it is so damn magical that people will no longer care about silly stuff like prices and number of games available and such, or they are honest to god delusional :-/
I've been wanting Star Fox 64 3D since it came out, but I still can't justify that price tag. Come on, Nintendo. Do you even want my money?
I really wish Nintendo would cut a deal with Mike Tyson to get his Punch Out game back.
Not a great sale, but Gunman Clive 2 and Mighty Final Fight both look appealing. Nice to see some VC games on both Wii and 3DS go on sale - that doesn't seem to happen very often.
well la dee da~
@bro2dragons I was able to find physical copy of the game (In like new condition) for 3 bucks less on Tuesday. IMO, the digital copy should be about $20 on default since it was released almost 5 years ago.
As for any of the games, I'm tempted to get Sin & Punishment in addition to the recent release of Metroid: ZM.
Is BADLAND worth it? Anyone?
Going to have to get injustice. Decent fighter for $7.99, can't go wrong. Other then that I have what I want from that list.
Nothing for me this week from Nintendo, Nintendo sale's price are still to high for me to even justify a purchase from them, when psn has 75-80% off on there current sale, and even on my xbox one there is better sales compared to nintendo's over priced games.
I might pull the trigger on Injustice but I'm on the fence. Every game on the list that I'm interested in we already own.
I always wanted to get Little Battlers eXperience since launch but I never had the time to play it due to backlogs. Now that backlog is somewhat freed up and it will be on sale, I'll bite next week.
Punchout on sale for $13.99 on the eshop and on nintendo's online store for the retail disc is just $10.00. Nintendo of America sure does like to over price there games on the eshop even the sales are over priced. Nintendo need's to learn from psn and xbox live what real sale prices are.
Looks like I'll finally go ahead and pick up Mighty Final Fight.
@Ralek85
Some deals look good so I will pick up a PSN card. The worst thing with Sony sales are some games look like a good price but if you pay about 5 more bucks you get all the DLC in a bundle or on a disc at retail. If you don't notice the bundle it's not available after you download the game anymore and the DLC for some old games still comes out to 40 bucks or more sometimes. I never should have got Bioshock 3 when it was on sale. It's cheaper to go out and get the Disc with DLC than download it from PSN.
That's something I hoped they would fix by now. Same as if I downloaded a game when it was new, never got a chance to play it and the cheap version with all the DLC is on the store but they won't let you download it when it is again cheaper than getting the DLC.
I might get DA inquisitions but I heard it runs really bad on PS3.
@mowerdude PSN and Xbox Live don't have real sale prices. That's Steam. Sony and Microsoft need to learn from Steam what REAL sale prices are.
Jajajaja dont get why people complains that much about these sales if they have a hundred of FPS for 0.99 $$ on PSN lol
I pay quality kids & those 14 bucks on punch out worth every penny
only on E-sho you know right?
@mowerdude get a joob fool
SF643D is still listed as $39.99? Isn't that 4 1/2 years old now? And it's a remake of an even older game. Should have been $19.99 at launch, $4.99 on sale now.
My kid really likes fighting games, Injustice at $6.99 seems on sale enough. On 2nd thought, maybe a little too violent for a kid who just turns 11 today.
@Sonic4life Get a job fool. There i fixed it for you.
@TwilightAngel lol Thx
Well darn it, now I need to pick up an eshop card this weekend to grab Mega Man Battle Network.
I will certainly be picking up Injustice: Gods Among Us for $7. That one has been on the bubble for a while for me, but I just wasn't interested enough to pay for it (even for the reduced $20 pricetag).
@IceClimbers Sony and MS are a lot closer to Steam then Nitneod is to them. FF7, Tactics, Chrono Cross and Trigger, Xenogears - all $4. I know they are all old games but they are classics, and $4. How many N64 games has Nintendo put on sale for $4? Even 1? Ever?
Nintneod has a lot more sales on eShop now then they ever had on Wii or DSi, and that's good; but they are still quite very stingy when it comes to their own back catalog and current games. And you know that very well. InFamous 2nd Son came out 2 years ago, now $20 on sale for $10, Lego City Undercover, 3 years ago, been $50 ever since. Pikmin 3 should b $20 just so they could push the$12 worth of DLC. Steam may well be the best, w/ Sony and MS 2nd and 3rd, but Nintendo is a very long distance way back in last.
@RCMADIAX You know that you're paying for these games with gold games, right? They're not free. Same with PS+ games.
I might get Sin & Punishment and Mega Man Battle Network.
@bro2dragons
I am so with you on that one. SF64 was THE game I had to have an N64 for back in the day, and I can probably say because of that, it is the reason I am such a staunch Nintendo fan now. However, I can't justify paying that much for a 20-year-old game with a slight graphical touch-up, especially when my original cart still works fine. How that game is still $40 in the eShop about five years after its launch on the 3DS just baffles me.
I was hoping we'd see a big discount for it right before the release of Star Fox Zero, but if there is one, I doubt it'll be any better than this one.
@Whopper744 I've played through all 6 of the battle network games and the difficulty is fine. Some fights can get pretty tough later on, but the games do a fine job of teaching you how to play. No where near as tough as the original games imo,
Is StarFox 64 3D a Selects title only in europe? The retail version is 20 euros here so even that sale price is pretty high.
@Utena-mobile
You'll like it if you like shmups and/or arcade shooters on rails, because that's essentially what it is. It's basically Star Fox with a unique control scheme, some melee combat and a very Japaneesy, anime-inspired presentation with English voice acting and Japanese subtitles.
The sequel is came out for Wii and is also on the VC.
I will probably grab sin and punishment on the Wii U and Mighty Final Fight.
@Zach777 It's not worth that price.
I may grab Race The sun, though the discount is NOT that much to feel good about, really. Hmm..
Went on to buy Injustice though and it is not listed, what the heck am I missing?
EDIT: OK found it but had to run a search on it.
@rjejr Can't argue with that.
@Sonic4life I have a good paying job, I just refuse to pay say $12 for a game on the eshop when I can get the same exact game on PSN for just $3. So you are the fool if you like over paying for a game that you can get cheaper elsewhere.
I ended up picking up Project Cars (used @EB Games was 25$, PSN was 15$) and Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate.
Nintendo's big first party titles sure do hold their price for a long, long time. But it really pushes impulse buyers to 3rd party equivalents. And, of these last 3-5 years, other consoles entirely.
I haven't seen a better deal on a Nintendo system in years and the eShop is outsold so badly, that even the same game sales for more there anyways.
Retro City Rampage DX is a good game, but I still found the details were drowned out on the smaller screen. That and it's not a great game. Injustice is MK lite, and a cash grab that uses DC's characters quite poorly. Star Fox is well overpriced for what it offers (one of the few 3DS 1st party games I've seen for less than 20$ new).
Maybe, just maybe, the sales dry up on Nintendo systems for a reason.
For example: I contemplated DA Inquisition for the longest time before siding with Project Cars. Reason? I'd rather download the 20GB game and purchase the 45GB game as a physical disc.
There's no deliberation with Nintendo. It's A or look somewhere else. When Inquisition first came out, I chose Shadow of Mordor instead. When Witcher 3 released, Inquisition was there again. I know I'll pick it up, but I always had other options.
Nintendo doesn't really have that anymore.
Nintendo hasn't really had that in a while.
@IceClimbers My wallet would disagree with you. I have bought tons of games from Microsoft that were anywhere between 75% to 50% off. I have also bought many from Sony with the same discount percentages.
I can count on one hand how many I have bought from Nintendo. I buy almost all of my Nintendo games from Amazon Warehouse Deals. I can usually get games for 40 to 50% off. Nintendo just does not like my money like Microsoft and Sony does.
Wow, it looks like I'll be making a purchase on my Wii U after almost a year. Mega Man Battle Network and Sin and Punishment. Does anyone know if Sin and Punishment works with a gamecube controller?
Also, with Microsoft I only need to buy one copy of a game for my two Xbox Ones and only one copy of a lot of games for my PS3, PS Vita, Vita TV and PSP.
But Nintendo I need buy 3 copies for my 3 3DS's and a forth if it is also available on the Wii U,
I will pick up Sin & Punishment.
I got excited, looked up Injustice...and BAM! ÂŁ49.99. That wasn't funny.
@Cyberbotv2 To use S&P with a Gamecube controller, you have to get it for the original Wii. It works fine with a Classic or Pro though. And if you play casually and just want to get through the game without hitting Game Over screens constantly, you can abuse save states on Wii U.
@Cyberbotv2 Only if you buy and play it through the Wii Shop Channel.
@burninmylight You do realize that there was more than just a graphical enhancement to Star Fox 64 3D, don't you? There's also enhanced sound, the stereoscopic 3D, the extra gyroscope control scheme, a reworked Battle Mode against the CPU or local multiplayer through Download Play, the optional ability to save after each completed mission, and the best part: a new Score Attack Mode that lets you replay any level you've beaten whenever you want.
Wow, that's a great deal on "Injustice: Gods Among Us"! I'll definitely pick it up at that price. I'll also grab "Mega Man: Battle Network" now that it's on sale.
@Ralek85 #TRUTH Nintendo (of America - Europe and Japan aren't included in this rant) have rarely ever done pricing promotions. Nor have they really given a crap about their Virtual Console, or advertising release schedules, or their consumers...NoA pretty much sucks, since the 90s ended.
I've been waiting for Mega Man Battle Network to go on sale and I might pick up Mighty Final Fight.
@ mowerdude Name me the "same exact game on PSN for just $3"... Punch Out got no rival joe!!
@Sonic4life I purchase legend of kay anniversary from psn on 11/26/2015 for just $3.83 and also resident evil revelations on 11/26/2015 for just $10.80. Also at the sametime they were also on sale on the eshop and for legend of kay anniversary it was $12 and resident evil revelations $15 so you tell me which was the better deal psn or the eshop? Also I never purchase any games retail or download for full retail price but I alway purchase my games brand new most of my games I get from amazon unless I find them cheaper elsewhere.
@rjejr Annnd speaking of Star Fox, there's another rumored delay for Star Fox Zero, this time to July.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1170656
@mowerdude RE Revelations was also on sale on E-shop... & Legend of kai is sholveware compared to Punch out
May I ask wich is "the same exact game on PSN for just $3" when we talk about Punch out? maybe thats the reason why Nintendo can still charge you wathever they want fool, quality
Heh, I'm betting when the Nintendo connection thingy goes live, we'll see some standworthy sales in march, for now.......Fiesta and clive 2 is mine..
nothing for me. i already have all of those games
They should just do a permanent 'buy more, save more' offer that rewards those who buy loads and won't make then feel short changed. Otherwise, some decent offers and I would go for a few of them is European EShop replicates this.
Nothing for me this week, although there could have been if Starfox 64 3D were cheaper, which it should be.
I'm not a huge fan of action games anyway. Hopefully, this appears to be themed sales for the next few weeks, so maybe some puzzlers and platforming games will be featured.
Oh cool! So that means I Canada we get them the price they should normally be?
@IceClimbers If they confirm that, you will hear me laughing in the distance wherever you are. Thanks for the tip.
New President, old Ntinedo?
@Sonic4life What does punchout even have to do with what I said to start with RE Revelations I got for $10.80 on psn and at the sametime on the eshop it was $15, and Legend of Kay for $3.83 on psn and on the eshop $12. That is what I am talking about. All I said about punchout was that you can get it cheaper on nintendo's online store than on the eshop.
Injustice is a no brainer for that price!!
If I had some spare cash, I'd say "Why not?" on a few of the deals. As it stands though, I'm still waiting on my W-2s.
It's interesting to compare the Nintendo sale to a PSN sale. A TON of great PSOne games are $4 this week (including Castlevania: SOTN, Final Fantasy VII, Tomba!, et cetera), yet I'm more interested in Nintendo's offering. I think it's because Nintendo rarely has a sale on its first party games while PSN has a sale at least every month.
Injustice is pretty sweet but Wii U didn't get all of the DLC.
Top picks: Badland and Sin & Punishment.
@BulbasaurusRex
Yes, I realize that, as I have made sure to look over every feature to see what justifies the price. Do you realize that all of those new things you mentioned don't take millions of dollars in development time to add, and are pretty much the bare minimum features expected of an update and of arcade shooters and games of SF64's ilk? Furthermore, can you explain to me why another remake that came out around the same time, OoT3D, can go on sale in the eShop for $20, but this is the cheapest SF64 has ever been?
Already picked up Metroid Zero Mission. Gonna go buy Gunman Clive 2 right now (been looking at it for a while now).
@Ralek85
Thanks for pointing out the sale, I spent about 80 bucks but I got a great deal of stuff!
Might pick up Mega Man Xtreme or Mighty Final Fight
Wow, Little Battlers eXperience is already on sale? Was it that bad? lol
fanboys can say what they want but there's no arguing that Nintendo is the worse when it comes to digital game's sales
Oh man, I should probably pick up Sin & Punishment.
Gonna be getting Star Fox and One Piece!
@freaksloan #firstworldproblems
@Utena-mobile
It's a great series if you like pseudo on-rails shooters like Star Fox or Kid Icarus: Uprising. The Wii sequel "Star Successor" is one of the best on-rails shooters I've ever played.
@DualWielding
I'm a Nintendo fanboy and I agree Nintendo's sales are usually pretty bad compared to stuff like Steam. I don't count PSN or Xbox Live much higher on my list though because they hold you hostage first with subscription fees.
@R_Champ @burninmylight
so I took a look at the game on youtube. It looks very... interesting... kind of freaky actually. But I like the designs and I don't know who she is, but the main character looks cool. I'll pick up a Wii U eshop card tomorrow. Thanks.
(^_^ )
@DualWielding
oh, yeah, I totally agree. But it's hard to be angry with Nintendo of America this week because it's been a long time since we've had a decent VC game and a sale with decent games (even if the discounts aren't that great).
btw, did you pick up the 2 free DoA costumes?
@rjejr Well, it's only a rumor for now. Anyways, a bunch of other news cropped up over the past hour:
First off, the Custom Hydra Splatling is coming to Splatoon tomorrow, and is the last weapon being added to the game.
Second, the NPD results came in. None of Nintendo's games charted, but both Minecraft and Minecraft Story Mode did. Super Mario Maker and Splatoon have both surpassed 1 million sold in the US.
Third, the Pokken Tournament fighter they were hinting at last week has been revealed - it's freaking Chandelure! A chandelier is in a fighting game haha.
@msvt race the sun is a great game. Hard as nails(maybe I just suck!) but a really cool pick up & play racing game! I recommend
How is Star Fox 64 3DS still $39.99!? That game should be at most $24.99 now.
I don't care what anyone says, I think this sale looks great
Injustice is a fantastic game, but players on other consoles have been treated much better. I bought the game new digitally, and got all the DLC. Only problem is that I fell into the trap of overpaying (kinda bought the game twice) before they annouced the GOTY. I adored Injustice and bought it all excitedly. What hurt worst is they ditched support on Wii U. We never got Zatanna or Martian Manhunter, or the rest of the updates and skins. You're better off getting Ultimate Edition on something else, if you have another system. Its been free a few times on PSN, I know for sure. Ever since the Wii U copy got snubbed; and after I spent so much money... I vowed to never buy from that developer again. Its not a Nintendo fan thing, its just that I don't trust them. Wii U players were done a great injustice.
Grabbed Injustice and will be grabbing Sin & Punishment soon. Looked at the DLC page for Injustice and was happy to see that there was a decent amount of extra skins, characters and such, but damn, it's like $70 for all of it! Like the Smash Bros DLC, again, no cheaper season pass for buying everything at once?
i'm new to the modern nintendo ecosystem as before buying a wii u and 3ds last year, my previous consoles were the playstation and gameboy. this winter warm-up sale looks really different as the details say that there will be new titles added every week. these are jsut the titles for this week. i can't find any info on something similar from last year. is this going to be the new way of the nintendo eshop? i am all for it, if it is and hope it goes year round.
@SetupDisk I agree on the DLC issue, but it's not exclusive to Sony. Just to name one example, I've owned Dishonored for the longest time now on Steam, but to this day, it is still cheaper to buy the GoTY Edition to get all the DLC, than to just buy the DLC by itself, thus buying the core gaming twice. As for digital as such ... yes it su**s, that physical is often cheaper, even when digital are on sale. BUt remember you can share the digital game with a friend (and thus split the cost 50/50), and well, I prefer digital because it is just more convenient. I have to admit that I have not bought a single physical game on my PS4/V, X1, WiiU/3DS, thus not a single one this entire generation.
@ mjhopkins81 I was actually trying not to rant, but oh well ^^ Anywho, I just switched to NoA this gen (WiiU/3DS) mostly because of the CN-$ exchange rate and well, for Atlus games and other stuff that releases way early in the States (if it is released in Europe at all, often in a broken state by guys like Ghostlight). Still, as European I do not really agree that NoE is much better, at least not in terms of their digital sales culture (which as such is in their infancy as it is of course). NoE seems to care more these days than NoA about stuff like VirtualConsole for sure though.
Honestly, in my view, Nintendo needs to unify their outward appearance in this regard, meaning what they are doing now, creating annoyance just because they let Europeans wait forever for this or that game, they "give" to the Americans right away, and vice versa, is plainout silly. I mean what is up with that? What is the point? That is a lot of bad faith created for no gain I can see whatsoever ....
And yet again NOA gets all the discounts, while NOE can sit silently in a corner.
@VR32F1END Sure, it's better to get "Injustice" on a different system, but for people like me who only have a Wii U this is still a great deal.
@burninmylight When you redo a game's graphics (and most if not all of the audio, as well) entirely from scratch, you better believe it costs a pretty penny to develop. Yes, a remaster should have that much new content, which means it was indeed worth buying again even at full price. Zelda games, particularily OoT, are more popular, so you can't really blame them for being more aggressive with its sales. $28 is still a pretty good price for "Star Fox 64 3D" for those who haven't picked it up yet.
Looking at the 3DS e-shop, I'll be picking up "Gunman Clive 2," and now I see "Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven" is on sale at half price! You're killing my wallet with all these discounts I can't pass up, Nintendo! If I had known that, I would've held off for a while on some of the "Injustice" DLC I bought alongside that game.
@IceClimbers Know how people are always complaining about how mobile games are kiling the industry, whether due to quality, price or both. But Minecraft Story Mode is a thing. And it sells. People are basically paying to watch Let's Plays on Youtube. I'll never understand that one.
I was laughing at Chandelure this morning, thinking it was such an odd choice, but my son said it's good b/c it shoots fire and sucks your soul out. Can't argue w/ that.
I'm curious about something.
I already have Sin and Punishment on Wii, so I can get it on the eShop for $2 anytime I want. Now that it's on sale, will it be even cheaper or does my discount override the sale, making it $2 no matter what?
I can't get to my Wii U just now to check, so could someone else who's had something similar happen confirm how it works?
TL;DR
If you have a discount on a game that goes on sale, do both the discount and sale price apply?
@rjejr
Just curios sorry to bother, I like looking through the comments and finding yours cause i find yours to be very insightful and i always agree with you but i always see you spell "Nintendo" wrong. Is that a thing and done intentionally or... Or yeah whats going on there? Not that it bothers me...Just a curiosity that has built up.
@Arcanum No, it's not intentional, I'm just a horrible typist who relies on spellcheck but my spellcheck won't fix Nitrated. That's what I get if I let my spellchecker fix it, Nitrated. I figure it's better to have the typos than Nitrated, that just looks stupid. Though sometimes it will fix it with Tinned. Tinned looks worse than Nitrated, so I just leave whatever it is I type. And I always seem to type it differently. I do know how to spell it, just not how to type it.
@Utena-mobile what free costumes?
@DualWielding
I don't know what they're called but Hitomi (or kasumi, I can never remember their names) and Ayane have two costumes as a thank you for fans.
They look like a weird soul-calibur type of bikini (don't they all, lol) with wings.
@Utena-mobile thanks for the tip... I looked for them and got them... too bad they are not for my girl Mila
I wholeheartedly recommend Injustice Gods Among Us for $6.99 That game was worth it at $59.99 so this is a STEAL. It's also one of the best fighters I've ever played aside from Street Fighter (it's by the Mortal Kombat developers, but with superheroes and without all the gory, grotesque crap in MK).
@Utena-mobile
Sin & Punishment is a classic, but I really recommend buying Sin & Punishment 2: Star Successor (Wii game available as VC release on Wii U eShop). It's not on sale, but it's got to be the greatest shmup of all time- SO much better than the N64 release.
Watch some video reviews, I think you'll be sold once you see it in action.
@JaxonH The main problem with buying Injustice Gods Among Us for the Wii U at $6.99 is that the DLC will run you over $70. Where as if you get Ultimate Edition on another system the game will just run you about $20. Ps3, Ps4, Xbox 360, Ps Vita, PC.
@mowerdude
Definitely something to consider. But for those not interested in DLC or only have a Wii U, $7 is hard to beat.
Heck, even owning it on another platform it's still almost worth buying even if just for off TV play
Where were these sales over the holidays!? LOL, leave it to Nintendo of America to come up with an after holiday sale instead...
"Hey Bob, I got this brilliant idea!"
"What's that, Bubba?"
"Well, everyone, their mother, and their dog is having holiday sales, and it's going to crowd out everything to the point that everything will get drowned out! So how about this: Let's do a sale when no one else would expect it: NEXT YEAR after the holiday sales season is over!"
"OH. MY. GOD. You're a genius, Bubba! You're gonna get the Nobel Prize for this! They're gonna call you Big Bubba once we monopolize the remaining people who aren't tired of sales! In January! The toughest sales month of all!"
Roflmao!
I'll probably pick up Gunman Clive 2. Not really interested in the HD collection on Wii U since I already have the first one.
I'm tempted toward Star Fox 3D because of the Download Play (which Ninty really needs to add to the store page's tags) and spiffier graphics, but when its sale price here is higher than what it really oughta be under a Nintendo Selects banner...
But, I see myself getting Sin & Punishment (have Star Successor on disc), Mega Man Xtreme, and Gunman Clive 2. Maybe also MMBN1, but that only due to Ghost_Wheel's races with those games.
@BulbasaurusRex
SF643D's graphics weren't redone from scratch. Q-games took code and assets from the N64 version and jazzed them up. Still a lot of work, but not nearly as much as making a game from scratch. And adding things like time attack and leaderboards are easy, and any half-decent developer can throw that in, in his or her sleep. Like I said, that's the bare minimum expected of any game of this ilk.
I'm not underselling the work done on the game. I'm just struggling to comprehend why this game, a remake no matter how you spin it, is still $40 when not on sale and has never been close to scratching $20 when other titles, both new titles and remakes, have no problem doing so when on sale. And those other titles launched later as well. If this game didn't launch with the 3DS, it came shortly afterward.
