I might pick up Wario Land 3. That was one of my favorite games on the Gameboy Color.
Why are games like Rayman Legends still so expensive? Are people still buying it at that price?
Possibly Donkey Kong Country, for sake of nostalgia.
@DarthNocturnal Trust me, you don't need to start from the first Wario Land to understand the series xD they're all pretty unique, with 2 and 3 being most similar
Dang it - I just bought Donkey Kong Country last week. Curses!
If it wasn't so sad, it might actually be funny.
Nintendo takes a penny off the price and calls it a sale.
Meh. Glad to see Nintendo at least doing sales though. The discounts need work.
I just bought two copies of Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! at Gamestop for $1.99 a piece.
Meh, nice to see them do a sale once in a while, but 17 games is not exactly a broad offering, also, the discounts itself are rather ... minimalistic.
Aw man, I am playing way too many games right ne but a Freedom Planet sale is very tempting.
Nothing for me. I have almost all these games already.
Might get steamworld dig on 3ds and wario land 3.
I might finally check out Sonic Generations!
Good price for freedom planet
Might pick up Donkey Kong Country
That's a steal on OlliOlli if the cross-buy is still going. I never did get Freedom Planet and I am very tempted to at that price.
Again, another round of uninspiring sales.
I probably pick up Donkey Kong Jr and Country. Maybe 3D excitebike?
Well, since it appears I own most of the Wii U ones I am safe this week. I am not a fan of Rayman and it would take a much bigger price drop for me to be interested. I would recommend 3D World to anyone that doesn't own it, it was one of the few games I got my wife to play co-op. Game & Wario is also good for stupid group fun with a gamepad (Cronk Launcher and Draw).
Might pick up Donkey Kong Country, I've been meaning to play that game for years now.
Glad to see Nintendo getting slightly more frequent with sales, but yeesh. These prices to start, let alone discounts are borderline insulting in comparison to psn, steam, etc.
This reminds me, I think I got Runner 2 as part of the 12 game Humble Nindie Bundle pack. Some of those games were pretty good too. Might be time to boot it up.
For those wondering about the minimal discounts, the logo did say "UP TO 30% OFF" so what were you expecting? Though of course this being Nintendo the ad says "up to 30%" but several games are way more than that.
Generations 3DS isn't very good.
After a while you won't be able to tell the difference between classic & modern sonic gameplay wise...
Europe ignored again?! Stay classy Nintendo! Still, the "discounts" are so pitiful, is it really a sale?
Is Nintendo even trying?
These discounts are on games that I already own or don't want. That's O.K.
Well at least the bright side is my eshop credit is safe this week.
Why is Rayman Legends so much when i can get it for like $15 on the PS3 at EB Games?
@Sligeach
Didn't... you guys just finish a sale?
No more excuse to put off Freedom Planet
Keep trying Nintendo. Keep trying.
I'm getting Donkey Kong Country. I never played that game before. And I'm a huge Rare fan. These sales are working out well for me.
@rjejr Runner2 is great I must get back to it actually
@freaksloan Do you come from a place where a couple of dollars = a penny?
@Cyberbotv2 hope you enjoy Donkey Kong Country, loved that game as a child, I remember we were stunned at the snow effect...
I'm going to grab vs excitebike. I have everything else that interests me and the discounts on the physically released games aren't enticing enough to switch to digital.
I already own 3D World and Rayman Legends. Still on the fence about Game & Wario.
@MJKOP I'm still impressed to this day with the snow effect.
@sc100 Trust me, Game and Wario has only one (or two) good minigames out of 15 or 16. It is like a whole bunch of free Android minigames packaged into one game.
@sc100 yeah it still looks class, imagine what it did to my tiny little mind back then! Lol
@GreatPlayer Thanks. I just hear way too much bad stuff about this from players so I think I'm going to pass. It's a shame Nintendo didn't put more effort into this.
Getting Injustice from last week turned out well for me. Keeping my hopes high, this week is just disappointing.
For the people complaining that they already own most of the games on the list, that's not Nintendo's fault that you already bought the game. If you're a smart shopper, then you wait on sales to buy digital games. Don't buy games that just come out just for them to sit in your backlog or beat it in few days. Practically all of my digital eShop purchases have been from sales. I have saved so much money from not buying them on release day.
Anyone know the difference between the original Excitebike and Vs. Excitebike? From my understanding, Vs. is an enhancement and not a sequel. Is that true?
Wow, awesome sale tbf. I hope Nintendo of Europe does something similar.
Those games seem really random to discount, just saying.
@abbyhitter It's more the fact that the majority of these games are the games that are put on sale on a regular basis though there are a few more different ones than normal.
I might get Toki Tori 3D. I already have it elsewhere, but it's just $1.39, so why not?
@MJKOP : I recall something with the snow in that game when my cousin would play. I'm still baffled how good this game looks.
Everyone should get Teslagrad if you don't already have it. I had high hopes for it and it still blew me away. Easily one of my favorite Wii U games.
If you're thinking about getting Sonic Generations, I recommend it! $20.99 is a great deal for it. It's a little short, but has lots of missions and online to make the game longer.
Freedom Planet is the most tempting one here. Might finally download that.
I might get wario or DK... Or Toki Tori.
@ikki5 gibe de pusi b0ss
finally i will get freedom planet and maybe runner 2.
Considering Sonic Generations... and too bad I bought Donkey Kong Jr last week from enjoying it on NES Remix. haha
Is there any possibility that this will come to Europe?
..meh..I hope this is a Warm Up sale to a REAL sale...
I keep getting Super Mario 3D Land and 3D World mixed up, whoops. At first I was really excited to buy a discounted copy of 3D Land. So no buy for me. My wallet needs a break after buying 3 games on sale this month.
@abbyhitter That philosophy is a double-edged sword. Because enough people haven't bought games day one on the console, developers have walked away from the console. Meaning that most of the games have been purchased already because there are so few to choose from.
Now you can debate the reasons that those initial launch titles failed (along with the ones that followed), but lack of people purchasing them should be listed in the Top 3. That would only be worse if everyone followed the, "Just wait 'til it hits the bargain bin philosophy." I bargain hunt a lot, but it is generally for the games I am on the fence for, not the ones I know I want to have.
Nintendo does not seem to understand modern pricing
I think I'll stick to the PSN sales. They are actually decent, AND available in Europe.
I'm getting Freedom Planet and at that discount maybe Runner 2 too. Might also pick Toki Tori and DK Jr
I love Mario 3D World so much. I wished I could afford to buy it again digitally and mail my physical copy to my dad.
Knew I should have picked up either LBX or Star Fox last week. No online play has kept me on the fence with these games.
@abbyhitter These games like Donkey Kong are on sale every freaking sale and most Wii U owners own them already in the first!
Some good deals. But I own all the game I want that are on sale.
@DualWielding Yeah! Some companies charge $100+ for a full game only to drop it to $30 in a year or two. The nerve of Nintendo to believe their games have value!
I picked up Wario Land 3, but with my massive backlog, who knows when I'll find time to actually play it.
I think this is my chance to get Freedom Planet. There's a Fist of the North Star game on the eshop, I wouldn't mind getting that if it went on sale.
Somebody needs to explain the concept of a sale to Nintendo.
@TingLz And Nintendo has joined those companies with that $100 Fire Emblem. If Nintendo wants to keep their digital prices at a ludicrous level because they perceive they have value that's fine, but it means less and less people will be tempted to go to the eshop and more and more people will be buying used. It really isn't doing itself any favors.
In regards to the sale I might pick up Freedom Planet but everything else I either have or the sale price isn't enough to tempt me. Here's hoping next week won't be this bad.
Nothing for me from this sale I done own the Wii u games that I want from that list. I don't own a 3ds console so I don't really look at the sales for that console since I have no interest in the 3ds console. So I will just stick to the psn and x1 games with gold discounts.
@sc100 Game and Wario is supposed to be the game bundled with Wii U. My guess is that even Nintendo thinks that the game was bad. Therefore, they later decided to bundle Wii U with Nintendoland. Game and Wario definitely does not worth over 20 bucks. It should be around 5 bucks or so.
i like the selection. unfortunately, i like the selection so much, i already bought them before. this sale event is about a month from the last one. if there's one next month, then that might signal regular sale events from them. this is their rookie season in the regular sale event leagues so they'll have rookie stats for now, like discounts etc. with complaints and suggestions, they'll get better. here's mine: every single game ever made for a nintendo console should be on the eshop and 5 percent of all those titles should be on discount every week.
I know that Nintendo is just distracting us with sales to cover the annual January drought, but it's working! Picked up "Sin and Punishment" last week and will get "Vs. Excitebike" this week. I love these Japan Only VC releases.
Also, as stated before, "Wario Land 3" is the purest of gems. I will be getting that, as well.
I appreciate sales, but when compared to the kind Sony regularly runs on its digital storefront, this is mighty sad. It knocks VC releases down to the price they should be from the get-go, which is nice, or offers a discount on titles a lot of us bought at launch.
Last week Mighty Final Fight was on sale. This week its Mighty Bomb Jack. February brings us Mighty No. 9. I wonder if its coincidence...
@sleepinglion It's the good old Nintendo difference...
Mario $ 42 and Rayman $28 (both 2013); Bloodborne Goty for € 35 and Tales of Zestiria for € 30 (both 2015).
Teslagrad is for sure worth 10 bucks if you don't own that already!
Glad you think so!
Feel free to check it out, folks! It's been a while since the last time it was discounted on Wii U
I picked up most of those already, nothing for me this week. Here's hoping next week's sale doesnt focus on racers....then again I would like to get Fast Racing Neo on discount.
aw yea, time for Freedom Planet
Safe to assume that this pricing structure will continue on the NX as well then.
@Xaldin Wario Land 3 is one on my favourite Gameboy Color games too.
Freedom Planet is on my list. Donkey Kong Country is a must. I wish they would have added 2 and 3 though.
@PowerStar
Yes, VS Excitebike is the Famicom version with extra features that let you save tracks on the Famicom disks.
I love Excitebike and already got it on Wii U as a reward or on sale or something, but I thought about checking out VS...still haven't bought it though.
@GreatPlayer That's harsh.
Have you played Game and Wario? It's not for everyone, but it's creative and uses the gamepad more extensively then any other game for the console.
It released originally as a $40 retail game, but it's not bad...it's just that the games are really all over the place in quality. Some you'll play one and hate and never play again, others are kind of addictive.
$20 is a good price, there's a lot of stuff in it, but if you don't like wacky mini-games and using the gamepad, then I'd certainly pass.
@Action51 I don't think a lot of people would agree with you.
Rayman Legends is great, but disappointing that it's on sale for about $8 more than when it was on sale around Thanksgiving. Still, a great game by all means.
List of games I would like to see get released on the Wii U VC but will probably never happen.
SNES
Joe & Mac
Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Super Mario All-Stars
Star Fox
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
NES
Contra
R.C. Pro-Am
Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Tiny Toon Adventures
N64
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Nintendo's lame 30% sale like right now Teslagrad is $9.99 on the Wii U eshop were as right now on PSN it is 70% off also has cross buy for Ps4, PS3, and PS Vita making it only $4.50 for all three PS version. So you tell me which is the better deal Nintendo's or PSN? No wonder I like get games my digital games elsewhere because nintendo's eshop sales are way over priced for the exact same game.
Considering gamers club unlocked gives 20% off physical games... anything for retail games 20% or less is pretty much worthless.... and all wiiU and 3DS games are 20% off at best buy with gcu!
Really waitin for art academy to go on sale, how long does a game usually have to be out for nintendo to discount it? $40 is a little much for me
might pick up steam world dig
Got myself Game & Wario, so now all the WarioWare games are under this roof (some multiple times over). Shame there's not a 3DS one; will be rustled if we see the next on mobile than the gimmickiest of handhelds.
Prolly gonna nab Wario Lane 3, but torn on Donkey Kong Country. It has a great pedigree, but do I reeeaaally need it?
