Am I seeing this correctly? Does the Switch 2 box say the game inside is the Switch 1 game plus an upgrade code? If so, I think you can state that there is not truly a physical Switch 2 version.
@Wewewi Don't feel sorry for me, I'm enjoying the game. Yes, I see that the hair looks bad. For me it's playing on the Switch 2 or not playing any games at all, since it fits my life (commuting and sharing the tv with the family).
@Jedrus_Lilac Ah, okay, I see. For me key cards will never be the choice. I prefer all digital, with the downside that the express cards are so expensive. So that pushed me to buy some physical games for S2. And for me, as a Star Wars fan without any other systems, this was a must buy.
@Jedrus_Lilac - I will also never buy a game as a key card. But I buy plenty of games digital (like this game), don't you? If I would only buy physical games, like it sounds you do, I think I would get rid of the Switch. So why do you stick with it?
They'll have to stick to the argument that each pirated game would have been a game sold, for future cases. The easier technology makes it to play pirated games, the easier people will succumb to playing games that way. If precedent is set that a pirated game equals 10% of its value (arguing that people would never have bought the same amount of games at their "real" price) then it just becomes a math equation to pirates and the problem will become bigger.
I'm very interested in picking this up, if the port is solid. I'm loving Outlaws, the Snowdrop engine runs nicely on S2 with great lighting, only the hair looks bad. But this game runs on Anvil, I think the only Anvil game on Switch was Immortals Fenyx Rising. So let's hope they managed to get the latest version of Anvil running just as well on S2 as they did with Snowdrop.
@Aki77 Hi, I had some issues back in the day, but I reread it online. The preview I mentioned was part of a super famicom preview article, with just one sentence about Final Fight. It is here, on pdf page 78: https://archive.org/details/mean-machines-magazine-04
Good to have a woman in this (almost ceremonial) role, that went the same route through the company as the guys before her. And hopefully in the future the gender alone of ceo's won't be newsworthy anymore.
I'm a bit disappointed in how Nintendo approached these games in the post-Switch 2 era. To port them to Switch 1 and have a little upgrade pack for Switch 2 means the potential of a truly beautiful remaster is off the table. Highlighted by the fact they didn't mention the Switch 2 upgrade in the direct. I see little love put into these wonderful games. That, combined with the price, is dampening my excitement.
@Dimey Ah, thanks, I see it now too, on the browser version of the eshop. I'm pretty sure that text was not on the eshop when viewing the page on the Switch itself. Anyway, in the trailer there was no mention of it, and that seemed pretty strange to me.
Galaxy 1&2 are amazing, and great that Switch 1 players can get them. But no mention of a Switch 2 version? Surely there will be the free upgrade, but not a word about it. Really sad that, apparently, Switch 1 is the target here. Imagine leveraging the power of Switch 2 to really make them shine...
I just rewatched Nintendo's trailer and checked the store page. There is nothing stated about a 4K version, it only says that it is compatible with Switch 2. So where is this 4K info coming from?
What I missed (and would have softened the news of the price) was them showing how they improved the graphics. It looked just fine, but especially a Switch 2 version could (and should) have much nicer graphics than what we saw here. And extra pages in the book?? Do they imagine us at home cheering for that little bullet point?
So happy to hear it turned out to be a decent port. I bought it immediately (digital), to support their effort. Hopefuly the good reception will lead to more quality ports.
Grew up watching og He-Man (on Sky, I believe?), so that one is a must for me. Same for Indy, my childhood hero. I was hoping it would come to Switch 2 (the only system I own), so very glad with that one. And Absolum, because I played SoR4 to death, but we knew about that one already.
With the Wii, I forced myself to play it with the wheel (and actually liked it), because I felt that was the whole idea and appeal of the Wii. By the time I got the Switch I had kids and the wheels were bought on their request. Now for Switch 2 we're all just playing with joycons and pro controllers
The current patched game with its expansion is supposed to be pretty good I hear, so I do have it on my watch list. But the lack of any news on the Switch 2 version has me worried. Where are the previews?
I get your point and that is indeed how we referred to beat 'em ups back then, as "Double Dragon"-likes. But the term "beat 'em up" was defintely used as well. I just re-read the Mean Machines preview of Final Fight on the Super Famicom, from January 1991, and it uses the term. They used the term in their first issue, from 1990, just 3 years after Double Dragon was released.
It's good, worth the bundle price, not the "you'll understand why when you see the direct - price". But I'm also certain this will be updated many times, until the higher price is actually worth it.
Is it side scrolling? Only the elevator level seems to be moving, which is still a fixed space. They look more like arena levels, with enemies dropping in, like the SoR4 dlc.
It will surely pick up, with how popular those movies are. I just wish for an update on the revivals of Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage & Golden Axe. Them acknowledging there's more to sega than Sonic and Yakuza gives hope to old fans. But I'm not sure how well modern audiences without nostalgia for them will react.
Metroid for me, Xenoblade and Pokémon are not my jam. Surely the list will grow with Switch 2 exclusive launch titles (Mario Kart and a 3D Mario, hopefully an Ocarina of Time remake). And those exclusives will have to show the difference in graphical power, MK looked intriguing, but not that far removed from what the current Switch can do. Sure, 24 karts, bigger environments. But I want some eyecandy!
I was disappointed with their first remake, but I'll probably still get HotD 2, loved that game on DreamCast. I too hope they can improve the controls, but doubt they did... Overkill on Wii was also good fun
I encountered many bugs, even starting in the first few minutes. When Sargon says goodbye to his horse, his character model flipped around, petting the air instead of his horse. I actually never played a game with this many bugs before.
@Rambler & @Johnny44 I also didn't have to make an account. Could that be a regional difference, where in some countries Ubisoft does make that mandatory?
Good to hear this indeed. I'm still playing & very much enjoying the game, but had plenty of these bugs slightly ruining the experience. Plus some bugs that are not listed here - for example, in the first one mentioned here, the pirate king side quest, Sargon froze in place after accepting it. Had to restart and press the dialog history at the same time as accepting to solve that.
With Replaced and The Last Night both not out yet (and not anounced for Switch) this could scratch that itch. But both of those look much more impressive.
I played it but didn't even notice the account bit. The demo did convince me to buy it, where Dread's demo didn't, but it probably has partly to do with the setting/atmosphere which speaks to me more.

@TrogdorTheBurninator Ah, that explains it then. That's so dumb of them, they have to know that will keep people away from the demo?
Re: Reminder: Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws Demo For Switch 2 Is Now Available
