The Media Create results are out in Japan, and this week is relatively low key overall, with a new SEGA RPG on 3DS arriving as the most successful newcomer.
7th Dragon III Code: VFD jumps up to number one spot in the software top 20, with Yo-Kai Watch Busters holding onto second place. In a chart dominated by long-established titles Super Mario Maker and Splatoon can still be found in the top five for Wii U, with a smattering of other evergreen releases on Nintendo hardware lower down the list. The results are below with lifetime sales included.
1. [3DS] 7th Dragon III Code: VFD - 72,477 / NEW
2. [3DS] Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad - 26,512 / 1,654,171
3. [Wii U] Super Mario Maker - 21,357 / 321,222

17. [3DS] Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - 5,304 / 796,835
18. [PS3] Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - 5,008 / 186,479
19. [PS4] FIFA 16 - 4,810 / 25,719
20. [3DS] Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ - 3,979 / 487,687
Moving onto hardware we still have the PS4 holding top spot, remaining in the lead following a relatively recent price drop. Nevertheless the 3DS family is still doing well, while the Wii U maintains momentum in five figures; results are below with last week's sales in brackets.
1. PS4 - 25,699 (30,349)
2. New 3DS LL - 17,881 (17,856)
3. PS Vita - 14,546 (14,368)
4. Wii U - 11,658 (11,594)
5. New 3DS - 4,514 (4,031)
6. PS3 - 2,105 (1,929)
7. 3DS - 1,232 (1,131)
8. PS Vita TV - 696 (670)
9. 3DS XL - 625 (548)
10. Xbox One - 438 (224)
Next week will include sales for The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, and there's a reasonable bet that its focus on multiplayer - particularly of the local kind - could be well received in Japan. We'll know soon enough.

What is the 7th Dragon III code? Sounds interesting.
@Spoony_Tech Here's some gameplay of the demo from NintenDaan's channel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ardlHbCKrIk
@Spoony_Tech Looked it up on YouTube, seems like some kind of Etrian Oddyssey-like game, but the perspective while in dungeons is top-down instead of the first person-map drawing one, while on battle mode it looks a lot like the Etrian games.
@ThomasBW84
I think you meant to say PS3 instead of:
6. PS4 - 2,105 (1,929)
PS4 is dead. A price drop won't save it.
@MrSeitaro @Storytime7 Thanks for the replies. Looks a bit generic to me but I'll have to keep my eye on it to see if it comes west.
@SlayerG Yep, whoops!
Xbox One doubled sales. Price cut or hallucinogen induced minor hysteria?
Poor Chibi Robo.
I wouldn't mind giving this game a try, I like the music and it doesn't seem to have any of that damn chibi style art in it.
Too bad it will never be localized in the West.
7th Dragon DS was Japan-only however there's an english translation hack for the ROM.
I'm sad that Fire Emblem Birthright and Conquest isn't there anymore......
7th Dragon III Code: VFD looks very interesting! I might import that if it's not getting localized anytime soon.
Welp import time!
@KodyDawg
On PS3. On PS4 (and thus in combined numbers) Metal Gear beats it.
Splatoon surely keeps momentum though.
:/ I'm still waiting on the first 7th Dragon to be localized.
It's great to see the vita outselling the rubbish Wii u
XboxOne is Doomed!
Man. I wish I could play 7th Dragon III. I rather have this than Legend of Legacy. The soundtrack sounds awesome.
@Splatburst Please educate me on how exactly the PS4 is dead? It had the most insane E3 line-up of all time, and with a new price-drop as well as an updated model (less noise, less power consumption) and the model with extra storage (for the non-nerds who can't replace the 500GB HDD with a 2TB one.), it is pretty much set for the next couple of years. It is a top contender at the moment, not a deadbeat.
Nintendo's E3 line-up (and general line-up of what we know so far for 2015-2016) was downright pitiful. There are of course some great games (Fire Emblem Fates <3) coming out, but it isn't even close to the PS4 in quantity. (As in quantity of great games announced, not quantity of games. I am not commenting on the quality of each individual game, and besides, my comment on that would be biased as I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan, meaning I'd obviously go with something stupid like "Fire Emblem Fates would most likely be equal to ten PS4 masterpieces in worth. Suck it Sony!") Oh, and I'm using the Nintendo vs Sony because this is Nintendolife. You can easily compare other companies like this, but it wouldn't make sense to do that here.
So yeah, educate me on how the PS4 is dead, would you?
@Blizzia
You don't have sense of humour in Denmark? my comment is aimed to those who say "Nintendo/WiiU is doomed" the moment they see decline in sales and those defending poor PS4 sales in Japan (and we're talking Japan here) is because Japanese consumers are just waiting for the price drop and would sell at least 50 thousand consoles monthly after. So far it has been declining to the usual numbers. Don't take it seriously man just because you're a Sony fanboy. If they can say the Wii U is dead, I can say the PS4 is dead too in a playful way. Cheers.
@Splatburst Now you're the one without a sense of humor xD We've got a sense of humor alright, but it is downright impossible to tell whether or not you were serious or aimed at trolls. Remember, this is the internet. You are writing text. I cannot hear anything from the text you write...
Also, please keep your baseless conjecture to yourself I am not a "Sony fanboy" (I don't even own a PS4), and frankly it seems like you are being defensive for no apparent reason. I was just stating the facts. It has nothing to do with fanboying or favoritism.
Anyway, if we look at the sales, I can clearly with 12418052% certainty tell you that Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft/Bethesda/Ubisoft/Kony/Batman/Jackass/Bandai Namco/Bestbuy/Gucci are doomed and will go bankrupt in maximum 3 days.
Oh, and a smiley does not define whether a comment is serious or not.
@Blizzia
That only get to show you are taking my comment seriously even with the smiley at the end. We all know PS4 is very successful elsewhere (west). Unless you assume I don't know what I'm talking about on my first comment and I needed to enlighten you why I said so. whatever. I apologize for assuming you're a Sony fanboy though.
@Splatburst It's fine, all water under the bridge And yeah, I just wanted a reasoning behind the "outburst" about ps4 being doomed. So hard to tell whether people are joking or srs through text, regardless of smileys
PS Vita outselling Wii U at the moment. Well it is a very underrated system with more great games then people give it credit for.
That 7th Dragon though, I would'nt get my hopes up seeing it in the west.
@Nomad thats in japan where handhelds are dominating that region but here in the west not so much its pretty dead here
Picross 3D 2 seems to be doing well.
@DarkCia Yes I am aware that those sales charts are for Japan. Your right about the Vita being dead in the west though. Its a real shame as the Vita has a great library of games. Its sad to say but I have more great games on my Vita then my Wii U and there are more games coming out for the Vita that I want then on the Wii U. Its just that many of those games are JRPGs which aren't really popular in the west.
