I know this sounds absurd, but I met her the day after she was announced as the replacement voice actress. I asked her how she was (I didn't know who she was) and she said "oh god Twitter is freaking out, I need to stop looking at it" and I thought...a regular person doesn't typically say that. Then I saw her awards and was like....oh damn.
@CammyUnofficial It's also very cool playing a new game on an old console! Especially when they make use of programming techniques from later (or even after) in the console's original lifespan! But I think @cedarhyped is also right in that it's usually pretty limited sales and generally for marketing. But it's also for the enthusiast folks as well
Believe me or not, I met Jennifer Hale the day after all of this - I figured out it was her based on me asking how she was doing and her responding "oh my God, there's been so much drama on Twitter about my work".
@Tom-Massey To be fair I spent a lot of time with Gex 3 as a kid. I found the jumping to be a bit sloppy, but that's a complaint among all the cool and funny stuff that it did. I liked the mission structures that was a bit like Mario 64. And even as a kid the fact that it was voice acted impressed me.
@Medic_alert I had fun playing Gex 3 as a kid, but Mario 64 was not "far behind" it. Gex comparatively played like ass and was not nearly as enjoyable.
I've still got my original blue and red ones...other ones appealed to me but I never could justify another pair of Joy-Cons lol...would rather have a Pro Controller or 8bitdo controller. They're fine for portable play but I'd rather have something a bit chunkier in my hands when playing docked.
@Thwomp_Stomper That's odd, but not unexpected from this damn company. Mine was packed well and the cart wasn't loose. I checked the chips and there's a little bit of white residue, not as bad as most pics I've seen.
To be fair, I started a bit of a frugal stint around the New Year, so prior to game price increases. Game price increases only seem logical at this current time, considering economic influences. Games cost more in the 90s at certain points. I am getting a Switch 2, also enjoy PC, wait for sales, but still buy new for games I'm excited for. I'm just being a lot more conscious of playing through the dozens of amazing games I already own while slowing down on purchasing games generally. Honestly, for me it's a lot of the sales that add up for my spending.
LRG is run by idiots. I admit, I've made one purchase from them. I should be getting Shantae Risky Revolution on GBA very soon...of course after being delayed for over a year. At least I know I'm buying a physical cart with a game on it and I didn't bother with some money-grab special edition.
I already knew how trash of a company they were, but it just keeps getting more absurd.
Games have gone up to ridiculous prices at various times in the past 40 years. Sure, I'm a little miffed that the Switch 2 is the price it is, but none of this surprises me in the current economic climate. I remember $80 CAD NES games, I remember $80-$100 N64 games. I remember Gamecube games finally going all the way down to $50 when the Canadian dollar was almost at par with the American dollar.
Just remember - you don't have to buy every game. Buy a single-player game, and a multi-player game. Wait until you beat them to get another.
My brain was too smooth at age 3 to give a hoot if I was winning or losing at Super Mario. This reminds me of a Guardian Opinion Piece lol
The only aspect of this I can recognize is the weird lack of consistency with the difficulty options. Some Mario games give you an invincible character when you lose enough, while these ones give you an easier character that can still die.
I usually use a Pro controller, or an 8bitdo Pro. However, my elbow was injured a few months back and it was far more comfortable having the "separated" controller via using Joy-Cons. That was mostly playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D. And yes, I used the sliders and straps just because it makes the Joy-Cons slightly more comfortable in adult hands. The separated controller scheme brings me back to having the Wiimote and Nunchuck.
3 Houses drives me crazy because I don't care about the school stuff at all, I prefer the 'old' way of Fire Emblem where it's just the tactical maps and conversations.
Engage is nice because it does away with that, and has interesting new stuff in battles. But the characters and story are complete garbage.
I can still enjoy them but really miss everything from Awakening and earlier.
I went for it - pretty cool. Only time I've ever bought from LRG, so it doesn't hurt too much. I've been very excited for it. Considered the special edition but I don't need the clutter. A box, the game and any instruction booklet (maybe, maybe not) is all I need.
I was 10 when I beat it without a guide. It was perhaps a bit more involved than the other temples, but I don't remember it being exceptional. If anything, I think I spent more time confused in the Forest Temple.

Re: "A Very Polished Experience" - Digital Foundry Checks Out Kirby Air Riders
@fenlix Do other consoles have 60FPS 4K 4-player splitscreen? From what I can see there are very few.

@TiMMay333 Because they cover games?

I've been enjoying the GBA cart on my SP! So far, very fun. My only purchase from LRG lol. Doubt it'll happen again.

I don't have much issue with them but I'll likely be buying majority digital this gen.

Yeah, please cover the fact that the initial game is a ripoff? It's barely a game. I'm rather suspect of this.
