Re: Bitmap Soft Has A New Game Boy Color Title Up For Pre-Order

@CammyUnofficial It's also very cool playing a new game on an old console! Especially when they make use of programming techniques from later (or even after) in the console's original lifespan! But I think @cedarhyped is also right in that it's usually pretty limited sales and generally for marketing. But it's also for the enthusiast folks as well

Re: Talking Point: With Prices Rising, Are Your Gaming Habits Changing?

arekdougy

To be fair, I started a bit of a frugal stint around the New Year, so prior to game price increases. Game price increases only seem logical at this current time, considering economic influences. Games cost more in the 90s at certain points. I am getting a Switch 2, also enjoy PC, wait for sales, but still buy new for games I'm excited for. I'm just being a lot more conscious of playing through the dozens of amazing games I already own while slowing down on purchasing games generally. Honestly, for me it's a lot of the sales that add up for my spending.

Re: Limited Run's Atlus Switch 2 Collector's Edition Is A 'Game-Key Card' Release

😂😂😂

LRG is run by idiots. I admit, I've made one purchase from them. I should be getting Shantae Risky Revolution on GBA very soon...of course after being delayed for over a year. At least I know I'm buying a physical cart with a game on it and I didn't bother with some money-grab special edition.

I already knew how trash of a company they were, but it just keeps getting more absurd.

Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting

As others have pointed out....

Games have gone up to ridiculous prices at various times in the past 40 years. Sure, I'm a little miffed that the Switch 2 is the price it is, but none of this surprises me in the current economic climate. I remember $80 CAD NES games, I remember $80-$100 N64 games. I remember Gamecube games finally going all the way down to $50 when the Canadian dollar was almost at par with the American dollar.

Just remember - you don't have to buy every game. Buy a single-player game, and a multi-player game. Wait until you beat them to get another.

Re: Opinion: My Daughter Made Me Realise That Mario Wonder's Difficulty Options Need Work

arekdougy

My brain was too smooth at age 3 to give a hoot if I was winning or losing at Super Mario. This reminds me of a Guardian Opinion Piece lol

The only aspect of this I can recognize is the weird lack of consistency with the difficulty options. Some Mario games give you an invincible character when you lose enough, while these ones give you an easier character that can still die.

Re: Poll: Does Anyone Actually Use The Switch Joy-Con Straps?

arekdougy

I usually use a Pro controller, or an 8bitdo Pro. However, my elbow was injured a few months back and it was far more comfortable having the "separated" controller via using Joy-Cons. That was mostly playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D. And yes, I used the sliders and straps just because it makes the Joy-Cons slightly more comfortable in adult hands. The separated controller scheme brings me back to having the Wiimote and Nunchuck.

Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Fire Emblem: Three Houses Or Engage?

arekdougy

3 Houses drives me crazy because I don't care about the school stuff at all, I prefer the 'old' way of Fire Emblem where it's just the tactical maps and conversations.

Engage is nice because it does away with that, and has interesting new stuff in battles. But the characters and story are complete garbage.

I can still enjoy them but really miss everything from Awakening and earlier.
