Re: PSA: Use A Wired Connection When Playing Smash Bros. Ultimate Online

arekdougy

I never play smash online. I have it, but haven't touched the game even in a long time. Too many games. My multiplayer games are Splatoon 2 (runs just fine wireless), Mariokart (same), Mario 35 now (runs great)....I was playing some Dragon Ball FighterZ but it just takes forever. It was ok lag-wise, if I recall. I ended up getting it on PC because it's so much goddamn faster. Even my PC's wired connection blips out sometimes, so while I've considered going wired for my Switch, I don't care enough to yet, especially not for Smash lol. Even though Smash is awesome, I'm just not playing it atm. Plus I'm distracted with Among Us and Sea of Thieves.

Re: Dataminer Shares New Details About The Emulation In Super Mario 3D All-Stars

Say what ya'll will, but I still want those 3 games on a cartridge for my Switch. How many 'perfect' games were made in the 90s/00s totally glitch free, etc? Hardly any. The 3-pack is still a good deal to any adult with a job. Hopefully they patch out little inconsistencies like those grey cubes in Sunshine. If you aren't interested in the games, or are interested in emulating them at a higher frame rate, then do that and shhhh. Let me know when you hack it onto the Switch. I still like that stuff but I'm happy to buy this package.

Huh, not my kind of music, but I'm surprised by the vitriol towards it. I thought it was going to be 'house' and 'techno' it that really generic, repetitive fashion. I mean, it sounds like boring 'ole Ed Sheeran to me. It's pop, and it sounds like good vibes. The rhythms within are more interesting than the truly average stuff. While I'm a little more out there and only really appreciate stuff like Flying Lotus, this is not as horrendous as all the critics here would like to think it is!

Hard disagree as well. In fact, I didn't quite get the appeal of All Stars when I was a kid, because I had an NES. I have been playing All Stars tons now. I love 16 bit graphics and music, so the reimaginings are really cool for me. I noticed the weird brick feel in SMB1 but didn't find it effected my flow at all. It's a gorgeous compilation. 9/10 for me. The backgrounds can be occasionally distracting but not really a big deal.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Final Fantasy Game On Nintendo Consoles?

VI on the GBA kept my attention the longest, I'm slogging through VII currently. I still love the story but am not as big of a fan of the clunky PS1 graphics. still excited to get V on GBA at some point, and I have VIII, IX, X, X-2 and XII to play on Switch. I'll probably finish them as I lay dying in 60 years from now.

@BrintaPap I'm in Canada and tracked down an SP AGS-101 for around $100...took a while to get one that wasn't scratched to hell, ha. They were truly the most pocket friendly gameboy (in my opinion), but kids took them everywhere and they have the scars to show it. There are some cool cheap GBA carts on Ebay, you just have to check the reviews to make sure it's good quality. I played an English fan translation of Mother 3 that way and it was awesome. $15 I think for the cart? There's also FF 4/5/6 carts with restored sound (SNES quality), and I want to get my hands on those. I obviously like having authentic, but I got a CIB copy of Metroid: Zero Mission...$100 was a good deal eyeroll. They have skyrocketed in price in the past 5 years. Same with GameCube games. I'm kind of stoked I live more rural now (but still a small city), because the bros here don't know the worth of their games as much. In the city everything just matches online going rates.

XFD sorry for that meandering rumination !

Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?

@SoManyHaveDied Along with that, they have unrealistic expectations. I already buy too many games and do not beat them. I am not amazing with my finances, and I am sure plenty of people are far worse. Or they are children, complaining. I started working as a kid so I could buy the games, books and music I wanted...I realized at 19 I was overextending myself on the media I was purchasing.

I have been saying for years that games are less expensive than ever. They haven't inflated like so many other things. Here in Canada, Kmart sold Dr. Mario for NES for $80. I remember some N64 games cranked up to $80 around 2000/2001. I recall during the GameCube Era, many games went down by $10 when the American and Canadian dollar were more at par.
