"While Nintendo has insisted that the console still has a place in its plans..."
which of course was a lie, nobody here was fooled by this.
"If you needed evidence of this fact, then consider this: we're now seeing obvious signs of the console's decline in the market which loved it most."
in part because nintendo did not, in fact, act like the console had a place in its plans. Now you'd only be delaying the inevitable at this point (eight years is pretty good!) but the 3DS remaining a part of nintendo's plans had about as much truth to it as the infamous "third pillar" of the wii, DS, and GBA - and this was apparent to people who would be buying those products.
I have put a ton (a literal ton, and then some) of hours into the 3DS and still mostly use my Switch for Smash Ultimate (which, don't get me wrong, is outstanding), but after the Kirbs in a couple months (and Persona Q2, if we even get that on this side of the ocean with these sales numbers), there's just not enough effort on their side to justify it on my side.
The idea that it's too soon for this conversation is interesting when Nintendo has probably had people working on ideas for a successor six months after the thing came out or less. No rest in the industry as they say.
Since Nintendo seems to start with the gimmick, (my lord, how many times did I hear them pump up the joy-con aspect of this blasted thing rather than the actual games), I see suggestions of VR as not quite tech plausible yet to make really good games but if I could come up with the next clever gimmick I would probably be working for one of these companies I dunno.
Smash Ultimate for the most part, but I also brought Tomodachi Life out of storage and popped that into the 3DS, wonder if we're gonna see another one of these at some point
There have been good games released to this point on the thing to be sure but it wasn't until Smash these last two weeks that I've finally felt like I got my money's worth buying a Switch.
Not having the hardware to experience the full FFXV I'm enjoying this. I'd say 6/10 is the right score in a world where people use all 10 points of a 1 - 10 grading scale.
The linearity has been an increasing issue with FF for a good while now outside of the MMO installments, would certainly like some more ability to explore. Don't regret spending $18.51 on this. (Man what a savings with all my gold points thanks my nintendo cough cough)
On first playthrough the stage felt too much like Dust Man's stage
On second playthrough I found myself irritated there weren't enough buttons for a dedicated slide and rapid fire at the same time especially if the slide is as important as it was in this level. Rapid fire is super fun though.
On third playthrough instead of Block Man's stage reminding me of Dust Man's, Block Man himself got dusted. Stop giving robot masters voice acting, thanks.
Had a good bit of fun with the Miles and Kilo demo for its 5 minute length, it's what I was expecting out of Kid Tripp in the first place, alas I have used up all of my luxuries budget for the month
Oh yeah, had to finally figure out and reset my password to comment on this article, if this is the last 3DS game I buy that's a great way to finish it off.
the only possible answer is a commander keen remake, the 2 being the number of trilogies that were properly released and the legend being intentional irrelevant clickbait to confuse people
"nobody gets left behind" except for every character between games 4 and 10
I'm one of those n00bs who only got into the series through Awakening and I really would have liked to see more characters I'm unfamiliar with. Instead we get creepy mctharja
still going through samus returns, finally getting around to replaying gunvolt burst with the call and joule DLC (where's the #BuffJoule DLC inticreates what the heck)
i've got $5 burning a hole in the 3DS eshop and nothing to spend it on because i've got most of it already, hopefully there are some sales going live at noon that catch my interest
I found the gameplay and world design of the original so bland and unappealing compared to both Mario RPG and Paper Mario, did not like it at all - to say nothing of the lack of partners like PM had was a borderline dealbreaker.
One thing I can't deny, whoever wrote Fawful's dialogue had a pretty fun sense of humor.
@Ttimer5 i was always #teamfrontroll and never understood the other way, until i started babysitting my brother's young kids - and ever since i've turned traitor
nothing for me this week, but I did redeem my download codes for zen pinball and super acorns whatchamacallit. Used up my monthly gaming budget two weeks ago with Samus Returns and pokemon VC. I regret nothing. Two at minimum 9/10 games.
I'd definitely be getting Brave Dungeon+ if I had a Switch and probably FIFA too, is there a list of available teams in that game somewhere?
While HG/SS are an improvement on these games, sure, but let me stop there.
There's nothing, nothing ever, that will compare to being 14 years old, crossing that lake east of the starting town and being told "You've taken the first step into Kanto, check your pokegear map and see!", pulling up that map and seeing the familiar gen 1 map staring back at you. Holy cow, it was chills all the way down.
These games are some of the best ever, with the only flaw being the difficulty in grinding towards the end-game superboss. And Zubat's continued existence, but mostly that first thing.
I own HGSS (they're the only post-gen 2 games I own for myself and not to help younger family members fill out their pokedexes) but I bought the VC for myself just to experience it again. And overlevel myself to take out that stupid godforsaken cow in the third gym.
more shooters like this, less regenerating health duck and cover tactical stalling whatevers, just give me a super shotgun and let me get rolling. The DS line didn't have one single game in this vein.
calling DOOM "dumb" isn't an insult, it's what I want to see.
When I eventually make the move to Switch this is going to be one of the games I pick up, without question, Dig 1 was quite a bit of fun for the 10 hours I got out of it
@pupito There's a lot left in this game so my opinion could change (for example, the original metroid 2 final boss was ridiculously cheap and I hope they improved on it, but I'm nowhere near that point) - but I appear to have been speaking out of my backside regarding the NLife 10% score inflation for this game.
It's good. Holy cow is it good. I've considered FE:Awakening the best 3DS game (even if it's not the best example of an FE game, I get that, I really do), but Samus Returns is making me reconsider.
very good, new game announcements, more features for old games, the kirbs, mario odyssey looks amazing, freakin DOOM, the only series I have ever put more time into than Smash Bros, I mean, portable Doom! The 3DS doesn't even have portable classic Doom (I would buy this day 1, even in the 3DS end-stages)!
not perfect: nothing VC related, sadly the kirby announcements were not air-ride related
I'm one of those people that complained about not having a new 2D metroid for a decade so I gotta put my money where my mouth is, that's $40
I'll do the chicken wiggle discount to check out the level editor even though I think Mutant Mudds might be the 3DS' most overpraised indie game
I never got around to getting Cursed Castilla and now it's two bucks off so there's another one.
That Etrian Odyssey V demo is supposed to be up.
And the pre-load of pokemon gold for next week.
Since it's not getting the better together update I'll hold off on minecraft for the moment but at some point I'll pick it up. What I should do is buy none of these games and save up for a Switch and Mario Odyssey because it looks incredible, but I just can't help myself.
spoilers: if you beat the game in under 3 hours samus takes off her suit to reveal she's actually kirby, explaining why we haven't heard anything about that 3DS kirby game yet
More Odyssey info? I don't remember the last time I was so hyped for a game on a system I don't even own.
Actually can fit a good bit of 3DS info into eight or ten minutes:
US/UM info even if it's not my thing. I kinda wish they added more mega-evolutions, at least for Johto starters. That G/S VC is so close I can taste it.
That holiday 2017 Kirby game, the kirbs is always a must-buy for me
FE Warriors "info" like how it will run on the new 3DS, what the version differences are - plus I'm one of the plebs who has only played Fates/Awakening but come on, give us some characters from previous installments to learn about.
You could even throw a surprise new game or 3rd party announcement in there (not to be confused with a New Game announcement).
What I would actually want though, is an announcement of at least a couple of those SNES VC games that Japan got a month ago (cough FF6 cough cough hack wheeze dies)
Not that it would be in a nintendo direct except in my dreams but has there been any info on legend of dark witch 3 in the last 9 months?
Obviously there's a lot they can show for the switch to the point where 40, 45, 50 minutes could be dedicated to Mario Odyssey alone and I'd still want more.
I'll wait for the Chicken Wiggle review because I found Mutant Mudds to be the most underwhelming platformer the 3DS has to offer. I'm always intrigued by level editors though, ever since Jetpack on the PC

Very pleased to get more Tales on a Nintendo platform, Abyss 3DS is still one of my most played 3DS games, went through it at least once every year
