Nintendo's Summer Nindie Showcase wasn't short of announcements, but it naturally didn't cover everything coming to the Switch eShop. One game that Nintendo of America seems to be confirming - which is a new one that wasn't even in the European sizzle reel - is Worms W.M.D.
At the time of publication this hasn't been announced, but as spotted around the web - reader Shani highlighted it from Nintendo Everything - it's a game with some screenshot assets on Nintendo's press site. To clarify, in the Nintendo of America press area - alongside the standard press release - is a series of asset packs. Most of these are related to games seen in the Showcase, along with a few other titles at PAX West like Dandara and Dimension Drive. Sure enough, we took a look and there's a folder for Worms W.M.D that has five screenshots and some logo assets (the latter of which seemingly removed).
Is it 100% proof that Worms W.M.D is coming to the Switch? We wouldn't go that far, as it could be a peculiar admin error by a staffer (or outsourced agency) managing Nintendo's press site. For those that prefer to be optimistic, publisher Team17 is gradually getting more active on Switch and Nintendo could hold an announcement or two back for the upcoming Nindies@Night event.
Time will tell. It'd be a welcome release in any case, as it's proven popular since its original launch on other platforms in Summer 2016.

A worms game would be a great fit for the Switch!!!
Eh, if I bought another Worms game, it would be for PC...wanna keep the ability to create custom maps. lol
This kind of game would be perfect for Switch. Local and online play would be great fun. This is the latest Worms right? (Havent really followed the games since 2 and armageddon).
If true this is amazing news. I absolutely love Worms,the last one I played though was on DS.
I purchased Worms Revolution on PS3. That was the first and last time I bought anything from Team 17 on consoles.
The game performs so badly I had to stop playing it. At times it hit around 8-10 frames per second, but the Wii should have been able to run it! Just as a comparison, Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii looks better, runs smoothly, and doesn't render in much lower resolution. Worms Revolution's graphics on PS3 are so rough that most comparable Wii games look way better.
I'm simply not trusting Team 17 again.

This was confirmed by Team 17 over 6 hours ago and yet NL is saying the game isn't confirmed?

It has been confirmed now. Check Nintendo's YouTube page and watch the sizzle reel they just posted. It shows Worms WMD and has the logo and everything. It is now officially confirmed for the Switch but no release date yet. It's still exciting nonetheless.

Great game with great humour. I have fond memories of the sound samples.
This is a definite purchase for me in the future.
I can't see why this couldn't be as full featured as the PC version. You could have the ability to create custom maps save to SD and share online.

This is awesome! Worms has been one of my most wanted games on Switch pretty much since the system was announced. I came away from yesterday's presentation somewhat disappointed as none of the games shown really excited me, but this has me pretty hyped!
That's one of the things I love about NL; you can contact the staff in the middle of the night and not only do you get an immediate response but also a follow-up article. 👍
@gcunit I'm not being paid to do journalism, I will not waste my time digging around to find the announcement after I have seen it. I was letting NL know the article is incorrect and giving them the chance to actually do the journalism.
