Inti Creates has been pretty good with its DLC support for more recent titles, regularly adding new content and characters to them that expand on the core campaign in notable ways. Mighty Gunvolt Burst received a bit this summer when the team added in Ekoro as a playable character—bringing the game in line with its predecessor—but it seems that they haven’t finished, as a couple new DLC characters have recently shown up in the game in Japan.
Call—from Mighty No. 9—and Joule—from Azure Striker Gunvolt—have both been added in the Japanese version of Mighty Gunvolt Burst, and can be picked up for 200 yen each. Presumably, these will be coming to the West, too, although it’s not clear whether they’ll be initially free—as Inti Creates has done in the past—or if these characters will just cost a few bucks up front. We’ll be sure to update you on the situation, but here’s to hoping we don’t have to wait too much longer to see these characters come to the other versions of the game.
What do you think? How did you like Mighty Gunvolt Burst? Who’s your favorite character to play? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Yaaay, love continued support for games.
Mighty Gunvolt Games are Beck's best games.
Not Gunvolt's though...
@Roam85 Meh, I prefer Mighty Gunvolt to the Azure Striker series 😜
like being given a reason to play through this some more
hope they're available tomorrow
I noticed my US version got an update today. So hey, could be prepping us for this as well.
Joule being playable for the first time ever makes me super happy.
I really hope these are available in NA tomorrow. I want to get them A.S.A.P.
Girl power representing it proudly! I've been tempted to get Mighty Gunvolt.
Mighty Gunvolt Burst has an update installed when I booted my Switch just this morning, so it could be in place for a DLC launch later today.
Yeah, I noticed my European copy of the game got an update last night as well (along with CaveStory+), so I was wondering what it's all about.
Granted, I'm not that much into the game as I thought I'd be - it's fun and I like it overall, but bosses are so incredibly overpowered until you get to the final stages it's ridiculous. It becomes a chore, rather than fun, which is why I haven't started my Ekoro playthrough yet. There's a difference between being hard and being cheap.
Bought it on a whim and ended up playing this way more than the other 3rd party games I have on the Switch.
Surprisingly fun game, despite being a "small" release compared to something like Azure Striker Gunvolt, and am looking forward to what new gameplay elements these 2 characters will bring ^_^
Call just happens to be my favorite robot that looks just like a Powerpuff Girl. Aside from Dynamo, of course.
No really, compare call with Momoko Akatsutsumi and tell me whether you see it.
Fantastic! Mighty Gunvolt Burst and Master Blaster Zero are my two favourite games this year and the new characters we keep getting play so differently that it completely reinvents how you approach the game. I'd be happy to pay for the extra characters just to support the developers.
I guess CharlieSmile will buy the game now.
Needs Zelda DLC. Really, I would like to see how everyone would react if they added Mega Man and Zero as DLC.
Seriously, Capcom should hire these guys again to make a new Mega Man.
I like playing as Gunvolt the best. I still need to try this out on hard mode
Is this only in Japan? Because I have never even heard of this game.
Oh so this is for switch?
@SwitchVogel Looks more like Lumen is becoming Playable rather than Joule...
@Danrenfroe2016 It's worldwide and on both Switch and the 3ds.
Inti doing what Comcept couldn't.
Neato. Hope they will indeed be free upon release. Just don't know if I feel like running MGB once more. I was kinda satisfied after doing both Beck and GV's modes :/
right on. I would go back for this even if it's just for a couple of minutes. that was a good game.
@Captain_Toad oh. Somehow I missed it
They're live on US Switch eShop, $1.99 each.
Copen when?
Call and and Joule are cool though.
Cool.
@RaizenPrime
You think Dynamo looks like a PPG? XD Poor guy!
@Tempestryke Wait, are we talking about the same Dynamo? There was a robot in the original PPG by that name.
Very cool!!!
@RaizenPrime
I was thinking Dynamo from the MMX series.
