Re: Review: 7th Dragon III Code: VFD (3DS)

This is interesting, what with the demo doubling down on the VR world part of it, that was a pretty big turnoff. I'm certainly more interested than I was before.

It's 12,500 blocks though, which is about 1/5 of the space I have left so maybe down the line...

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U and 3DS Games of 2016 - Summer Edition

Gunvolt 2, DQ VIII (from what I understand it's far superior in both and game and story to VII), erm... there's not really a third one that stands out. I'll have a look at Federation Force because the 3DS has... one(?) shooter on it, but it doesn't look super appealing. Surprised they never ported OG DOOM over considering that got ported to everything back in the day including people's cats. (play DOOM on your cat!)

I personally feel like there are way more eshop games being built for the Wii U than 3DS at this point, but Nintendo themselves look like they're shoveling dirt on the former.

Re: Takedown Notice May Spell the End for Digger Dan DX

@ImDiggerDan Setting aside the precedent if they actually pulled a move like that, I'm hoping this doesn't force you out of the dev business for good. I enjoyed playing through Digger Dan (excepting the levels with those accursed no-clip yellow bugs) and hope you've got more in the future.

Both demos, Hyrule Warriors DLC, and saving BoxBoxBoy when I get paid next week. The original was a good deal at $2.50 during that my nintendo sale. I hope BoxBoxBoy is the actual game for BoxBoy's seemingly endless tutorial.

Re: Review: Mega Man 7 (New 3DS / SNES)

Man am I glad so many people beat me to the punch here noting that 8 is the worst of the classic series, not 7 (though obviously "Junk Man" has not aged well). It starts with that god-awful ball mechanic and voice acting and just gets worse.

Well, worst of the classic series. X5, X6 and X7 were all broken glitchy dumpster fire trash heaps we don't have to acknowledge.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 2016?

ap0001

It was... good! I wasn't expecting that. Not as good as Sony's but still, I was expecting atrocious. The treehouse segments were not particularly good, I would definitely change those up for next year. A lot of awkwardness.

Next year I hope there are games that make me want to buy a console for them. Neither Nintendo nor Sony made any progress with me on that front.

When I woke up this morning I was hoping some of the E3 sale discounts had leaked, but when I plugged "2016 Nintendo E3 D" into my phone browser it had the autocomplete suggestion of "2016 Nintendo E3 Disappointment"

I know I'm not super hyped internet browser but come on it hasn't even happened yet!

I haven't bought an EA game since Madden 2011(?)

Not knowing what the E3 sales are actually going to be has moved Kirby from a day 1 buy to a week 1 buy. I don't think I'm alone in this and I've gotta wonder what Nintendo's thought process was here unless they just don't think 3DS Kirby qualifies as a major release.

Re: Feature: Our Top 20 Highest Rated 3DS eShop Games

ap0001

AP's top 5 having played about 2/3 of this list or their earlier Sega iterations in some cases:
1) Azure Gunvolt (surprise!) 9/10
2) 3D Fantasy Zone II 8/10
3) Retro City Rampage DX 8/10
4) Steamworld Dig 8/10 (wish this game had been longer)
5) Legend of Dark Witch 1 8/10 (wish this game had been in English)

Cave Story is one I really want to get to at some point. Gunman Clive 1 and Shovel Knight were solid titles that didn't crack the top 5 is all, no slight on them.

Weirdly, almost every eshop game sequel (Switch Force, Gunman Clive (that freaking panda stage), Dark Witch, the Pushmo/blox games, we can count Plague Knight) has been not as good as the first one. Gives me a bit of concern for Gunvolt 2 and Shakedown Hawaii.

Re: Review: Digger Dan DX (3DS eShop)

I've enjoyed this quite a bit so far - it kind of reminds me of the old PC Jetpack by Adept Software (I freaking loved that game). I wonder if a level creator is possible here? Enemies for the most part are neat, puzzles and mechanics are varied, no level is stupidly challenging to simply complete.

My biggest complaint is that the time limits on some levels are a little tight, where not remembering the exact square the secret gem was in first try or hitting two corners instead of making the turn because you were a little too far forward is enough to make you miss the time bonus. The second complaint was mentioned in the article, the music, but it's not an experience killer by any means.

Another neat little extra would be like a small bestiary with quirky bios, some of these things look pretty interesting and it would be fun to know where they came from. Not you yellow bug that can go through solid walls, you can go away - but the rest of them.

Solid 7 1/2 out of 10 for a dollar. Great deal. Would purchase more from this studio.
