Ugh, Raticate. A constant nuisance to fight and not even good in battle, just awful all around. They should give it the sturdy ability just to go over the top with its irritating terribleness. That part of the trailer alone pushed me towards Sun version.
Looking forward to this, was hoping it would come earlier in the month to make a day 1 purchase, but if it's late it's going to have to wait until the next time I get paid after Gunvolt 2.
Went with the slot car minigame, not regretting it. I only get maybe 1 streetpass hit every two weeks but I generally build up 80 to 100 play coins in that period.
Picking 3, it's Mario 3, Mega Man 2 and the Kirbs. Zelda 1 would be in there if I picked 5. Tecmo Bowl didn't hit its stride until the SNES, now that's a game I would love for VC.
@Mr_Zurkon I got the game for my birthday in May and I just unlocked Tingle on the first adventure map two nights ago. There's like 40% of the map left uncovered, let alone A-ranked, and I think Zant and Ghirahim (and possibly others?) are still hiding on it, to say nothing of any adventure maps past the first.
Totally forgot I had Moon from the Humble Bundle, the bad controls made it difficult to play. Wonder if it plays better/has more options on the new system.
What a crazy loaded list, just the ones you did include!
Choices from your list: 1. FF6 - my pick for 'greatest game ever' 2. Super Mario All Stars - I love SMB3 to death, it makes the list even before adding the other games 3. Chrono Trigger - I like the additions in the DS version but this is still an all-time game.
Not on your list: Super Tecmo Super Bowl: 3 seasons mode, 28 teams, quick and easy to get into, loads of hours wasted Super Tecmo NBA basketball - this game in 1993 was simming 73-9 Golden State Warriors seasons, believe it or not (and 76-6 Portland seasons, which kind of got annoying), not as good as super bowl though. Super Empire/Return of the Jedi
I'm legitimately surprised by the nostalgia factor this game has. I found the difficulty curve totally haphazard - either a pokemon was right out in the open or you had to do some absurd sequence of events that required either a guide or complete guesswork to get an evolved version of a 'mon to appear - and it was crazy short.
I remember getting the pic of Mew (uh, 17 year old game spoilers?) the weekend we bought the game and it was just... over. The premise was good, but it could have used another 50+ pokemon, and an actual sensible progression.
I liked the Kirby standalone side-games way more. When's our eshop Team Kirby Clash DX nintendo?
The ball being too heavy is spot on - and once one side has an advantage, if a convenient power-up doesn't spawn, you can kiss that point goodbye.
Possible suggestions for updates down the line: 1) Have the option to change ball weight, with the default being closer to a superball 2) Actual arenas (not just reskins) from a final-destination area with no siderails to Metroid/Metroid II/Metroid Prime themed areas with associated hazards to ridiculous not-Metroid arenas like a bouncy castle.
This looks... not bad, actually! Interested to learn more. Between this and the Dark Witch 3 announcement it's been a pretty good couple of days in 3DS-land.
3DS still sorely lacking in FPS but this really doesn't look like it's worth a full price retail cost even before the dubiousness of slapping the Metroid name on it.
I've never gotten the appeal of Animal Crossing and never wanted to drop $40 to find out, so I guess I've gotta put my money where my mouth is and take the plunge at the end of this month for half that. Luigi's mansion 2 for $20 seems workable too. Might make up for this month-plus of nothing on the eshop.
Unless NOA puts FF6 on the new 3DS eshop between now and then in which case I have to drop everything and finally upgrade to the new 3DS.
A 3D Mario in the vein of Super Mario 64, with multiple worlds and 7 or 8 macguffins per world instead of the 2 or 3 from Super Mario Galaxy. That's the one we've gotta get.
Other titles, like a new F-Zero (closer to X than GX please) and a new 2D metroid would be terrific, but Mario's the big one for me.
Already had sonic 1 & 2 (and honestly, sonic 1 is more of a nostalgia thing than an actual good game, whereas sonic 2 is really good), none of the others appeal to me.
I agree with the posters upthread, I would like to be alerted of all sales if possible instead of maybe catching somebody talking about it on twitter.
I'm hoping this at least inspires a couple devs to bring some FPS to 3DS before the end of its lifespan. I don't need good graphics, even something along the lines of the old Wolfenstein 3D would work.
Nothing this week but I'll be picking up VFD some time once my backlog is cleared out, and I need to get RH Megamix at some point though I still wish it was retail.
I bought the original boxboy a couple weeks ago when it went on sale during the E3 promotion and finished it just in time for this one to come out. I've almost gotten through the game 100% (I can't figure out for the life of me, the crown in 15-3).
This game, to be blunt, is an inferior mission-pack sequel of the first game with less content and no new mechanics (Recall, you could make two sets of boxes in the last world of Boxboy 1). If you liked the first one you'll enjoy this but at no point have I said "wow that's a clever solution" like I did in the first game, even with for the most part twice as many blocks. My biggest complaint about the original game, that it felt like an extended tutorial, wasn't really fixed until the last five worlds here. Honestly, if you haven't played it, I'd buy this one first and get the original second and play through them that way.
I hope the next one has a level-editor, that would be neat. There's potential here but it's not reaching it.

Re: Talking Point: What Approach Should Nintendo Take With Its NX Reveal?
Go big or go home, that's what they say.

Re: Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack Has Been Delayed to 4th October
How does the striker pack interact with GV 1 save data, if it does at all?
Re: Poll: What Are Your Favourite Mini NES Games?

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st September
9/10 grade, exceeded expectations greatly
Negatives: nothing about more VC, DQ8 pushed to 2017, pretty big kick in the pants to Wii U owners
Re: Nintendo Download: 1st September (North America)
Two demos, slot car rivals and Hyrule Warriors DLC? Yeah, that'll serve as an apology for the my nintendo rewards.
Re: More Discounts Added to My Nintendo Rewards in North America
These are #bad

Re: StreetPass Update Adds New Minigames and Premium Option to Hold 100 Hits
I've still never got 100 streetpass hits total, but I'm never turning down a free game
Re: Hyrule Warriors Legends Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks DLC Pack is Out Today
Goodness this game is so fun and so huge, I don't think I'll ever get to that adventure map.
Re: Brazilian Listing Gives Hope for Western Release of Dragon Ball Fusions
Having this announced for a western release tomorrow would make for an A-grade direct at minimum
Re: Feature: We Learn More About Atooi, Chicken Wiggle and Future Plans
Not quite what I had in mind when I wanted a worms game on the 3DS but it looks more enjoyable than Mudds
Re: Feature: What We Expect From the 3DS Nintendo Direct - 1st September
All I want is to not sleep right through it
Re: 3DS Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 1st September
@JaxonH fwiw the sale didn't apply to the 3DS bundle at least in my neck of the woods
Re: 3DS Nintendo Direct Confirmed for 1st September
gimme a surprise non-RPG announcement, a timeframe for DQ8 and some VC available right after the end of the direct.
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Reveals 'New Galaxy Style' New Nintendo 3DS XL, Out in North America This Week
I'm good with the target bundle that just came out. Neat though.

Totally forgot I had Moon from the Humble Bundle, the bad controls made it difficult to play. Wonder if it plays better/has more options on the new system.
Re: Out Now: Eight More Games Join the Nintendo Selects Range in North America
New 3DS bundle was sold out everywhere (everywhere consisting of 2 walmarts and a target), unfortunate given my newly-minted "on the market" status.
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th August (North America)
I was all ready to give that Ace Attorney demo a try - the series has never particularly appealed to me, but maybe this time...
but my 3DS has left this mortal coil
rip old gal, 424 hours of project mirai dx can't be wrong

@Blastcorp64 Mischief Makers was legit, love that game.

Oh heck yeah.

Re: Poll: How Excited Are You About Pokémon Sun and Moon?
I'm hesitant to get excited over the seeming half or quarter-butted job that went into X and Y. Just felt like a very incomplete unfinished game.

Disney Art demo and gonna have a look at the discounts once the prices are actually announced.

Re: SmileBASIC is Back on the North American 3DS eShop After a One Month Absence
So many fun little games on smilebasic, worth the price even before you get into making them yourself.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th August (North America)
Blast Ball demo is the only thing I've picked up in five weeks now, and it was really not good.
Feels like Nintendo is just coasting until the new system, and I don't like it.
Re: Review: Tumblestone (Wii U eShop)
I was kind of expecting a retail Mario's Puzzle Party from Mario Party 3 from what I had heard before this.
Re: Review: Mega Man X (New 3DS / SNES)
This game could get painfully '90s at times (that intro stage theme!) but it's still the best of the X games by a pretty good margin.

Going to at least give this a try
Re: Poll: What Other 'Classic Edition' Nintendo Systems Do You Want to be Released?
The N64 was the console of more of my formative years, but the SNES is definitely the way to go.

neato
