On paper, in theory, I wouldn't mind adverts included in a non-distracting, non-immersion breaking fashion if it meant studios stop trying to make live-services stick. Like as part of a in universe radio or what not.

In reality, I wouldn't trust EA or those who want to sell their products via in game adds to be able to do that. They would want full screen, impossible to ignore nonsense like 2k did. It requires far more humour than those types of people can muster.

The only way I see the Switch 2 being announced before Christmas is if

-Nintendo has "something" planned for the Switch 1, like a new budget model and a steller games lineup.
-Switch 2 isn't a Switch, doesn't play Switch games.

I prefer stability.
If a game can give me a locked 60fps, great! But if unstable I'd much prefer a locked 30fps.

The rock opera justified the whole show's existence, it was so dumb. Knuckle's interactions with Wade's mother was great too.

Budgeta are going up but the games market isn't performing as well as it did. Which means to make the same money they need to cut expenses and for reasons known only to corporate mind that means less staff not lower budgets

If it was another adaption I'd be concerned about the director but Nintendo and Miyamoto are going to be, metaphorically speaking, breathing down his neck. I wouldn't be surprised they picked someone who said the right things but was small enough that they could push against on their red lines.

I remember it not being RPG enough for Mario RPG fans, and not platformer enough for Mario platformer fans

MY daughter when "excited" nuts when I told her they are making a sequel, then she went the "angry" nits when she realised how far that is.

If I had to guess, Nintendo knowing it couldn't just sue because of "emulator" waited until they were sure enough they had done something "bad enough" they could actually get them for, and judging how fast they went from "we're getting a lawyer and fighting this" to "yep 100% our fault" it was indeed "bad enough"

Sucks about Citra but I'm sure there's enough different versions by different teams that it wont be that much of a loss.

It's a shame there isn't a game to celebrate this anniversary. a remake of one, a suped up remaster of generations, I'd take a "collection" of the PSP titles.

I'm mostly digital anyway these days, though deals and special editions will frequently lure me away, but for a full digital future I need the ability to bulk back up my library.

I didn't like Let's Go _____ and seems much too late for a sequel, but I would buy Let's Go Johto over a BDSP-style remake (just).

read a few previews, I like how Luigi's Mansion isn't just a Mario game with a Peach model, it's own distinct thing.

I fully expect this to be one of those games my young ones play and then give to me to help find the hidden collectables.

There is always an overlap when a new generation hits, doubly so when the new hotness plays the old system's games. So I don't think there's going to be much of a "drought" (assuming the Switch 2 is actually delayed.).

Wii U ports and remasters make a lot of sense as "games for Switch you can play on Switch 2 too"

Gonna pass on that they look great but that is going to hurt my hand. That seems like the same size and shape as the Retroid P2s and that constantly jabs at my palm.

I'm sure smaller/larger hands should have that problem, it's seems like it's a "sweet spot" issue.

Assuming Nintendo dose with the Switch Lite what they did with the N2DS, selling it as a cheap entry level it might hit 2nd place with a long enough tail.

Don't get me wrong, I want it to be Super Nintendo Switch, but after all the confusion around the Wii U, doing anything but calling it a Switch 2 is too much of a risk.

This is one of those time where the character concept and gameplay role conflict.

Sad but I get it. Yoshi and nabbing are supposed to be low fail options and throwing in a "complicated" aiming system undermines that.

@ParadoxFawkes That or WB is trying to squeeze out as much money as they can. Remember they was looking to sell their gaming business but no was willing pay the price consider it doesn't come with the IP.

WB seems to be in a really poor place ATM. Scrapping near and completed films for tax right offs, pulling their own content of their own streaming services they can sell it to others, and of cause, no one going to see massive budget DC film knowing the current universe is being scrapped.
Squeezing out sub-par ports to try and milk the consumers fits this.

D9nt get me wrong looks great, however...Whether it's due to the lack of games or that Mario "out grew" DK, it dose feel like Nintendo might be overestimating DKs brand reach here. Unless as others have noted Nintendo is goog for a year of DK mext year

I liked the idea of that "NX controller" having scroll wheels replacing the shoulder bumpers.
They'd obviously be "click able" but you could have used them for inventory.

I'm guessing the switch lite will take the same niche as the 2ds did. With a nice discount it'll slowly cost the sales numbers past DS and perhaps maybe the PS2 over the years.

It makes sense it'd be monster hunter as we have the anniversary and it's the sort of game they won't want to talk about on the run up to Dragons Dogma 2.

Every Christmas I get my girls a MP game (along side their solo games), Mario Wonder will be this years group game.

Got one for my daughter, it survived when countless other devices failed.
I didn't personally use it that often but I quite enjoyed using it when I did.
There was something about it, some element that appealed to me buried with in its "tough for kids" design. Probably ancient muscle memory from using a classic GB

@beazlen1 Throw in that Nintendo just confirmed Switch support till March 2025, and an April/March release for Switch 2 (or whatever it is) makes sense

So we have servers being freed up in early April and Switch support for a year after. The former is something you do before new hardware, the other about a year after.

If this was a whole "ha we got what we really wanted" thing they did it the most stupid way ever with the retroactive change bit.

It makes them out completely untrustworthy and that's what we're seeing with the devs, their happy Unity isn't coming to be collecting new debts on old releases but they are still looking elsewhere.

Every "sucks" at playing this game, so everyone is having fun together.

Every person who wants a new F-Zero has to play this game at least once. Nintendo needs to actually see an F-zero game "move the needle" the more hits the game gets the more they'll see the IP is "hot".

We've seen it before fans demand a new entry in an IP, and the creators release some sort of "taster" content to gauge interest, fans get annoyed it's not a new game and ignore it, and creators then assume there isn't interest in the IP.

So play the hell out of this make it bigger than Tetris 99 and Pac-man 99 to show its the IP not the game type.

For a "these will hold you over till the next tentpoll release" direct it was decent.

My daughters made one hell of a noise when Peach's game hit.

It's a shame, for entire generations he is Mario's (and the others) voice.

That being said the man is 67 years old, and this is probably the better way of his time as our plumbers ends, I'm glad he's been given a new job around Mario. We've seen other VA's who made their characters legendary just tossed aside before.

I have the shrines and labyrinths to do, but I'm not really interested in doing those.

I've done the story, got the tears, got the towers, got most of the side quests (outside busy work), explored most of the the depths.

Don't get me wrong artistically Japan wins this hand down, but the Western one is better at telling us what the game is.
