Re: Double Dragon Gaiden Adds Four New Fighters In Free DLC Switch Update

@CRASH64 Hey dude, we're all different and our brains are all stimulated differently. I just prefer my teeth smashers to be a bit quicker, sharper and with more crunch. I wanted to love it, but don't. I might with the new characters, but cannot be bothered to grind to reach them. I tried the other night but was bored just doing the first level.

@Johnno137426 It absolutely is. Hiring a highly revered game designer, to oversee 'some' of your track design, does not make a highly revered game. Is they completely overhaul the A.I and update it, it could be good. Currently it's just so ridiculous that as you say, it only infuriates. I love driving games, played most of them, consider myself to be pretty good. I enjoy the accomplishment of learning mechanics, but, you'll never learn, and overcome a game that is simply poorly designed.

The game should have leaned further into the arcade roots, in both presentation and game play. This A.I., is utterly ridiculous, they perform like Scalextric cars. You obviously do need to brake at times, and when you do you get smoked, or they bash you off the track in the corners. It was fun for an hour and then became sadly boring. Presentation is bare bones, it also needs button remapping ability. I know it's a small thing, but the name is pretty crap. A decent eshop trailer would help their cause, instead of it looking like one of those scam games that will retail at launch for 99p. An intro, some drama, rather than flat menu's would also go a long way. Dial back the a.i at the very least, as people will rapidly become bored. This is currently like a sim racer, with the clothes of an arcade one. Oh, also ass a 'Re-start race' option, you currently have to quit the entire championship, go back to the menu and start over again. In a game that requires absolute perfection, this is just another annoyance.

I absolutely love it. I've been through it about seven times now and cannot get enough. It just feels amazing to play and thankfully didn't fall into the trap of tacking on stuff to make it 'Modern'. Everything about it is meticulously thought out and designed. This for me is what modern throwback games should be. For me it's an easy 9/10. I think it's a shame that people are complaining about the price. This is a small studio handling a huuuge license. I applaud them. By a country mile the best thing these guys have ever done.

@Luigia Shinobi is amazing, but I'm personally leaning towards Ninja Gaiden right now. Ninja Gaiden's levels are at times too long and become a little tedious, but it a much more direct game. Shinobi is essentially a Metroidvania. There is much exploration and goodies to find. I personally prefer a more 'arcade' approach. In fact I'd love to see Ninja Gaiden in an arcade style, just straight levels. Punchy, and to the point.

Imagine if you could actually freely and easily trade cards? That would be something. Trades make absolutely zero sense. Also the drop rate for cards has gotten terrible. I opened a new pack of a new set and got three identical cards. It's a laughable cash grab. However, the art is wonderful, the app runs brilliantly and battles are fun. But a trading card game with a horrible trading system is pointless.
